Patch my bump has been clicking/popping for a few weeks, only once a day or so, when ninja moves particularly violently... I was too scared to Google it for quite some time but eventually curiosity got the better of me and I read somewhere that it's bubbles in the amniotic fluid popping. Definitely not me or my joints.

Becky thank you so much for the positive birth story!

Patchworking9til5 · 02/07/2014 20:13

mupperoon that does make sense. Google was giving me some strange answers like it's baby's joints?! So weird!

Plateofcrumbs · 02/07/2014 20:58

Just home from work on last day! Still have an appraisal to write and I have idiotically set my out of office auto reply and realised it is set to auto-forward everything to my personal email address - argh! But do feel a bit of a weight off my shoulders already. Really should try to finish appraisal tonight so it is done but I am exhausted!

MrsA2 · 02/07/2014 21:05

Well done Plate but now turn that auto-forward off. (Have to admit I still had my work emails coming through to my personal phone and ipad for a week after mat leave started. Took me a while to feel ready to totally cut all ties)

Plateofcrumbs · 02/07/2014 21:08

I don't know how, it was unintentional! Blush. Might have to contact IT tomorrow and see if they can fix it. I'm also going to delete my work account from my iphone Grin

Incapinka · 02/07/2014 21:12

Plate I have so much respect for you. I ran out the door and didn't look back on my last day! But I did hate my job whereas this time I have a very part time one which I love and am hoping to be able to keep doing it whilst baby sleeps (wishful thinking?!)

Haven't experienced the clicking! Sounds intriguing!

DH gone out to rugby club agm. Have told him if he volunteers to do anything extra for the club I will not be happy! He is now on leave from work so DS and I went down to the beach whilst he swam. It really isn't a spectator sport but DS was happy. He is trying to reassure me that the training won't increase from now onwards (currently 15 hours a week which doesnt sound too bad until you factor in the 55 hour working week) yet his coach is saying that it will to 24 hours in a week. Hmmmm. They don't appear to singing from the same hymn sheet. On a brighter note in 11 weeks it will all be over. And if he wants to do it again he can find a new wife.

Will post again once I've reminded myself of the other comments...

Incapinka · 02/07/2014 21:16

Ismarah when my milk comes in my boobs turn into real monstrosities. To start with I would hand express a little just so it was a bit softer for baby to get its mouth round. Take a good handful, squash it like a burger and then try and connect! I found lying down the easiest position, especially at night time. Good luck. Also my left nipple is a different shape to my right which made feeding harder/sorer...

Incapinka · 02/07/2014 21:18

I also love how Zing tries to keep us all in check. Today I have painted DSs new room. I am just hoping physical exertion and fresh air will encourage sleep. Although it the army decode to start firing at 1030 again tonight I may go and tell them what's what.

BlueC2 · 02/07/2014 21:34

So, washing done, ironing done, hospital bag checked, homebirth box checked, baby's room sorted, freezer full of meals, grass cut by DH... DS asleep... Seems to me the perfect time for contractions to start (said hopefully in an almost commanding voice to bump) come on baby!!! Ready now!!

plate congrats on finishing! I think the auto forward settings are on the outlook out of office menu so you (or someone else) would need to get into that to switch it off.

inca hope the army stay quiet for you tonight, frustrating otherwise though the image of a v pregnant woman marching over to their firing range and telling them all to shut the hell up did make me smile rather Grin

Right, back to bouncing on my ball, must go and make a cup of raspberry leaf tea :) period like pains coming along nicely too!

Incapinka · 02/07/2014 21:40

If you hear of some mad heavily pregnant woman storming the ranges you will know it is me!

Why am I watching OBEM? They are all quite vocal tonight. I wanted a nice quiet inspirational (deluded!) one where they sneeze and the baby pops out. What was I thinking?! Blush

liquidstatehasrisenagain · 02/07/2014 22:32

I have never watched OBEM...

Anyhow the milk question has been answered.

WARNING GROSS ALERT
I did 40 mins of me manipulating my breasts this afternoon and DH offered to help this evening. After 5 mins he got bored (was doing it worng anyhow as I don't think kneeding my breasts like balls of dough were going to help) he decided to jokingly suck.

Apparently he still has a funny taste in his mouth. Grin Grin Grin

Inca I love the idea of a mad pregnant woman giving it what for to a load of beefy army chaps!

Anyhow I suppose I should try and sleep but am too jumpy at the moment. Seems weird that I only have one day left (max).

BlueC2 · 03/07/2014 00:30

Hee hee liquid I never have quite been able to brave testing breast milk or colostrum - DS assures me it's extra yummy though :) But glad all seems to be in working order!

I can't sleep! Cannot get comfy, was getting lots of period like cramps incl backache but died off again now. But what remains is the need to wee constantly and when I do go producing the tiniest bit (as I only went 5 mins ago!) so clearly bean is resting heavily on my bladder. DS been awake again too - am certain he can tell something's about to happen which I think is unsettling him a bit!

icklekid · 03/07/2014 03:13

Arhh wide awake at 3am...dh has a cold and was feeling pretty pathetic yesterday, he appears to have shared said cold Sad lying here unable to breath...

blue sounds like you are very organised and ready for baby- I've got some freezer meals but saved myself something to do this week- its now Thursday should probably get on that!

liquid glad milk is ready - laughing of image of your shocked dh!

plate I'm sure that someone at work can sort the forwarding out even if they log in as you- don't you be going in. If you got the appraisal finished last night well done if not get it done today and then try and let go/switch off!

So the first of my nct group went into labour at 5am, her partner messaged us last night saying 15h done less than 10h expected to go!!! Terrified is not the word Shock another is having c section on Friday due to breech baby- right now am jealous!

Cold cold go away am horribly sweaty and feeling sorry for myself as it is!

Plateofcrumbs · 03/07/2014 04:05

Wide awake here (after falling asleep about 9:30 last night!). Currently writing a massive list of things to do - mostly craft projects, sorting the nursery and other things I'm looking forward to. Hope the baby gives me at least a fortnight!

Howly · 03/07/2014 04:13

I've not slept well all night, had cramps like period pains since 10am yesterday morning, irregular, some painful, some constant, some with backache! This has been happening since last Friday on and off! Hardly slept as cramping has kept me awake, took paracetamol at 2am which seemed to ease it and dozed a bit! Dunno if this is just bh or the real thing and it's getting me down that this could last another 3 weeks plus til my due date!

mummytobejuly2014 · 03/07/2014 04:17

wide awake, neighbours having a domestic. hes locked out due to drinking it seems & all his stuff out window on lawn.
the joys of a semi detached house.
thought we were getting burgled at 03:30 the noises coming from them as we live in a quiet cul-de-sac of mostly elderly/retired people

Plateofcrumbs · 03/07/2014 04:26

Well that's a novel reason for being awake mummy Shock

mummytobejuly2014 · 03/07/2014 04:45

an hour & half later its gone quiet & his dad has dragged him away. now the birds are chirping & sun coming up. feel sorry for my OH wide awake, least i can nap later. guess its good practice for baby arrival, little man got hiccups again, cold water seems to set the bump off.
howly have you seen/spoke to mw?
plate what crafts have you on your wishlist? been looking at those inkless foot/hand print kits on ebay & maybe get crafty framing it?
liquid was also quite shocked at noise levels on OBEM tonight- hope im not like that or near anyone that is.
has everyone decided on pain relief options yet?
id love a water birth & then gas/air, this could be very niaeve (sp) of me & may demand everything going! hoping to bf so trying to limit factors that may affect it like epidural :s

Incapinka · 03/07/2014 04:45

At least you have some entertainment...!!

liquidstatehasrisenagain · 03/07/2014 05:14

Any other first timers wishing they could hold on to child free days for a bit longer??

Wish I had a neighbours argument to listen to. Instead DH is mumbling in his sleep so I am sofa bound watching tv.

NancyinCali · 03/07/2014 06:19

Heading to bed soon but not sure how long I'll last as it's so hot and I have a really sore lower back. Think I need to go back to my chiropractor. Suspect it's caused by carrying a 2 year old around!

Midwife appointment in the morning so I will ask her my list of questions about group b strep.

Hope those of you who had bad nights are able to sneak in a day-time nap later.

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 03/07/2014 06:24

Does it mean I'm properly becoming a parent if I can wake up at 6 after brief wake ups at 1,2 and 4am and think "oh that wasn't too bad a night's sleep"? Confused

plate well done on finishing work! I still haven't worked out how to turn work calendar notifications off on my phone... Blush.

liquid sort of, yesterday was largely a great day - went for a swim, had lunch with my aunt, read in the garden, bought enough cot sheets for us to survive multiple nappy accidents, had a great nap after listening to the natal hypnotherapy cd... was totally lulled into 'being 9 months pregnant isn't that bad" false sense of security... And then had horrendous vomiting session followed by massive nosebleed just before bed which just reminded me how fed up I am of pregnancy! At nearly 38 weeks I think I've prob got a while to go though.

How are you feeling about tomorrow?

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 03/07/2014 06:31

nancy sounds sore, hope you can get it sorted!

howly hope this is something and not just BH for you. I've been getting the occasional session of BH and period pain but it never lasts more than a couple of hours and never seems that intense.

mummy that sounds v odd! Sorry you had an extra reason for disturbed sleep!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 03/07/2014 06:37

As for pain relief, my birth 'plan' (such as it is) is to go with the flow, see how I get on with TENS, water and gas and air, maybe have diamorphine (our MLU can offer that and although 1 friend has told me it's the "shiz" :) I'm also concerned it might make me feel sick ).

if I'm really not coping/labour is prolonged I've said I'll request transfer to labour ward for an epidural. Ideally I'd like to avoid drugs (just because of all the associated things that might happen after) but I'm fully aware I've never done this before so I'm not in a position to make an informed decision about how my body and the baby will behave in labour. So basically I'm hedging my bets!

NancyinCali · 03/07/2014 06:41

Sounds like a sensible plan ItsAlways. Even having done it drug-free before (just tens machine, no gas & air available here) I'm open to doing whatever is needed as I know every birth is different.
