I have the Juju book - when I was reading it, it actually came to me that the techniques used for distraction are things I do naturally anyway for bad period pains, and also for other 'avoidance' type things - smear tests/coil insertion etc. Quite interesting.

fedupofrainydays · 21/06/2014 17:19

Back from holiday! Needed to wee every two mins on the way home so was a long journey!
Back to our building site of our home and no tv when all I want to is mooch and watch all my naff programmes!

gun hope all is better now and no more bleeding

YellowWellies · 21/06/2014 17:23

I got the MN babies and toddlers book but TBH I rarely consult baby books - I'd rather ask pals on here or in real life or the HV.

gunwalloe · 21/06/2014 17:34

No blood today just yucky green discharge but im taking the antibiotics so they should fix that I have the consultant in a weeks time so will tell her everything that's going on.

Have you all got your growth charts? Some things been bugging me on myn my last two weighed 7lb 8 and 7lb 6 and for some reason they have plotted them on my graph as on the 6th and 4th centile this cant be right can it? My first dc who was the biggest at 8lb 12 is plotted as 38th centile. Do they really expect tall people to have massive babys or have average weights really jumped up into the 9 -10 lb mark surely not?

ohthegoats · 21/06/2014 18:33

No growth chart here - I don't know what that is. I've got a growth scan in 2 weeks, so I guess it'll at least get discussed at that point! Who knows. No one has even mentioned birth choices to me yet, so maybe at the next appointment I should ask about that too.

puppythedog · 21/06/2014 18:39

Regarding birth choices...

I think you have to Grin sorry for that. I'll get my coat.

mrsb87 · 21/06/2014 20:05

I think the growth stuff starts at 28wk midwife appointment doesn't it?

There is something so so satisfying about a chicken kebab. Nom nom!

tak1ngchances · 21/06/2014 20:37

I have had no growth chart for overall size but we saw centiles for head, tummy, legs etc at the 20-week scan

Pregnantagain7 · 21/06/2014 20:44

I'm starting to worry about how big this baby will be, my last was 10lb 8 delivered vaginally with no stitches but am concerned how big this one will be. I have visions of giving birth to a small elephant!! I have a growth scan at 28 weeks but they are so unreliable at predicting weight I'm still concerned hoping for an induction on due date.

fedupofrainydays · 21/06/2014 21:57

Growth chart?! Is that a NHS thing? Only growth chart I know of is the little red book for when they are born. Guess they don't really do a chart for norm pregnancies as just have the two scans at 12 and 20 weeks ish. They do measure bump with tape measure tho later on!

fedupofrainydays · 21/06/2014 21:58

mrs I just had a chicken kebab!! Overdid the garlic sauce a bit though so better no breathe on anyone!

mrsb87 · 21/06/2014 22:40

Never too much garlic fedup. At least you won't be pestered this evening by Amy unwanted behaviour! Hehe

gunwalloe · 21/06/2014 23:03

I was given it at my 12 week scan it's personalised to my height and weight and you get a little tape measure to measure the bump. As I've had previous children there weights and place on centile is written on there to

ExcitedCJ · 22/06/2014 07:26

Early start for me this morning & long day travelling! :( Away for the week & then no more journeys, I'm confining myself! :)
Feel sick I'm so tired!!

fedupofrainydays · 22/06/2014 07:31

Definetly don't do those growth charts here gun! It's my second and nothing about that here so far. I've got a growth scan at 38 weeks but that's only cos they want to check it isn't going to be bigger than ds as will then be most probably having a c section.

Ha ha mrsb I can still taste garlic this morn! Actually I had a horrible dream where DH was really awful to me on it and told me he didn't actually love me, never had!! Woke up crying and told DH and he said 'I would hug you but can't get anywhere near you because of this ridiculous pillow you have surrounding you!' Grin I know he loves me really, garlic breath and all.

tak1ngchances · 22/06/2014 09:55

CJ I don't know how you're doing all that travelling!! You are dead right to put a stop to it now. Time to rest and put feet up as much as poss.

I have a question. In my 20 weeks scan my placenta was low-lying and completely covering my cervix. That's placenta previa right? Made the mistake of googling and it seems 3rd trimester can be tricky and you need to take things v handy if you have PP.

I am due to fly home to Ireland in 2 weeks, can I/should I go?

YellowWellies · 22/06/2014 10:26

No growth charts up here either unless they're concerned from bump measurements that you're going to have a whopper or really small one.

Yes they said they'd rescan me at 30/32 weeks and that they often move. My flights home are before then though so i dont know where it is.
There are loads of people on this thread advising a poster not to fly with placenta previa (in fact they are saying dont do anything!)

Taking if your healthcare professionals were not panicking do not get stressed about it & as always, I would seek Medical advice, Internet is always worst case senario. Just take great care of yourself. Perhaps our resident midwife will pop along in a second & give you some more constructive advice.
Only 1 more flight to go today & then journey to hotel & feet up! Least I'm on a BA flight now, bit better than the budget ones! :)

tak1ngchances · 22/06/2014 11:06

Thanks ladies you are very calming Flowers

Aaahh... I sprayed Van Cleef perfume on in Duty Free, it is over £100 a bottle & I want to eat myself I smell so amazing! There is no way I can afford it with lots of baby stuff to acquire & a year off to try & budget! I look like a serious weirdo, keep sniffing my arms, big long dog style sniffs!!
Mantra is "that's 2 more weeks with the baby!" :)
