I'm hoping the whooping cough jab will get sorted at my 28 week appointment on Friday. Just sat waiting for nursery carpet to be fitted.
My day off is looking busy but trying not to do too much as I think my mucous plug came out yesterday after doing too much Confused

mum2kiss · 07/07/2014 11:56

mrsb :( :( :(

queen it's another 2 weeks until my 28 week appointment so I'm expecting my midwife to start the ball rolling with the whooping cough vaccine then.

Just got an ice cold apple tango from the vending machine! So refreshing but now baby is going berserk with the ice cold sugary overload!

mum2kiss · 07/07/2014 11:57

munday as far as I know the plug will regenerate but probably still best to take things easy for now :)

mum2kiss · 07/07/2014 11:59

12 weeks until maternity leave! I've counted up the weeks that I will get some form of pay above smp and that only takes me to January! Lots of belt tightening needed in the run up to Christmas or I'll be back to work in February!

YellowWellies · 07/07/2014 12:01

Munday keep an eye on it and get your feet up love. From the start of the third trimester you might find you get more mucus in your knickers (nice! apologies for oversharing!) as the mucus plug thickens to accomodate the increased weight of your baby. As Mum2 says keep an eye on it - it isn't necessarily a sign of anything bad. My sister went into labour at 27 weeks and didn't lose her mucus plug - she did have a bloody show though. So if it's red if it were me I'd give your MW a call just in case. Am sure you're fine though xxxx

MundayCakes85 · 07/07/2014 12:12

Thanks for the reassurance, there was no blood, just lots. Quite gross Blush
I don't want this baby coming early- going on holiday on Saturday and I'm sooo ready for a bit of sun and relaxation!
Hope everyone had a lovely weekend x

YellowWellies · 07/07/2014 12:25

I think I spent the whole of my first pregnancy's first trimester knicker checking and then the whole of the third trimester! Ahh the glamour.

Enjoy your hols. We're off camping to Loch Ness. Heavily preggers, with three toddlers and a border terrier, in a tent, with rain forecast. Admit it, you're all well jel...

bumpbangbump · 07/07/2014 12:44

True that wellies, well jel!!!

mum2kiss · 07/07/2014 12:49

Lol yellow have fun!!!

LondonJen · 07/07/2014 12:57

Amuses me that everyone's in massive cheap pants! I stuck with the M&S outlet multipack last sizeup but good point re Matalan, one just opened nearby. I don't do the food shop and not sure I trust dp not to bring me thongs!

I don't know whether to trek to Oxford cricus for a Primark raid, get some things for hospital bag? My friend did give me some (unused!) primark big pants for after the birth but I tried them on already since mine were tight and they're too small already! I don't know if I know what I want to give birth in? Presumably just a big tshirt? If am not in the pool..

The nursing bras I got are good though one I am just keeping for actual nursing. It was only a tenner but the cup size is too big for now. It's a Freya one and quite a contraption -actually creaks! The other is a Panache one and fits now. Hurrah!

Hope things settle down Mrsb and Munday

Happytimes31 · 07/07/2014 13:50

Buggy bought Smile, beans on toast for supper! Wink
Got to think about pants too, was just thinking about the M and S packs also a nighty or something. Gosh lots still to think about! Are people going to pack their baby hospital stuff into the changing bag and then have a separate bag for you? Am a terrible over packer!

Me23 · 07/07/2014 13:56

queenasanti thanks for reminding me re whopping cough I spend my days telling people about it but am still in denial myself that I'm coming up to 28 weeks! Must call gp surgery and book it in with practice nurse. Midwives don't give it in my area so I would also check where you all are in case you need to book seperate practice nurse appt for it.

Me23 · 07/07/2014 14:07

What buggy did u go for happy ?
Way to early for me to think about packing bags I haven't even got a changing bag I didn't bother with one last time just used any old bag/bottom of pushchair. Same with hospital bag just used an old rucksack and canvas bag.

YellowWellies · 07/07/2014 14:21

I'll probably pack my bag in the next couple of weeks just because of family history of early labour, it'll make me feel better - and would be one less thing to organise should my waters go (emergency childcare will be tough enough!). Within 3 weeks from where I am now my sister had had her DD. There's no point packing baby's bag at this stage as even if the worst happened and you went into early labour no baby clothes or nappies we've bought would fit - so we would rely on donated stuff from the NICU. I'll pack baby's bag at 34 weeks I reckon. Even then, we'd need to go out and buy some tiny baby stuff if the wee one arrived that early - and they wouldn't be allowed out of hospital for a while anyway.

Pregnantagain7 · 07/07/2014 14:30

Ooh I'm getting jealous of everyone decorating and buying baby things! I showed dp the tuppence and crumble star blankets last night he looked confused and said why do we need on of those? we've never needed one for any of the others. I gave him my best paddington bear stare and said we don't need one I want one he soon shut up!!
I think I'm going to push him to come and get the buggy with me on sat, we've decided to go for a bugaboo donkey just need to sort the second mortgage out!
Has anyone looked at not on the high street for baby things? Very very cute a bit pricey I love the romper a with angel wings probably better for when they can sit up but totally gorgeous :)

Happytimes31 · 07/07/2014 15:44

Bugaboo Cham 3 Me lots of agonising but we did get a package which helped a bit. Thanks for packing advice ladies was just thinking about lists of things I need to buy over the next cou

Happytimes31 · 07/07/2014 15:46

Stupid iPhone!!

Over the next couple of months to spread the cost a bit.
Good point though about baby stuff for a while anyway. On baby gros and vests and things, I read somewhere about needing to get vests that undo at the shoulders so you can pull them down in event of a poo explosion, do they not all just stretch??

YellowWellies · 07/07/2014 16:10

Happy I've never seen vests which undo at the shoulders - in the event of a poonami you should find that the normal vests with the 'envelope necks' (i.e. stretchy enough to allow great big newborn noggins through them) will do you fine. It's never pleasant but I think my firstborn only once got it in his hair from a vest malfunction. And they do a lot of poonamis so that's not bad going. You get pretty adept at rolling up the vest so that it goes over their heads poo coated side outermost i.e. away from their skin. Ah the skills I now possess.

Pregnantagain7 · 07/07/2014 16:17

happy yes they do stretch if you just buy a bog standard pack of vests from anywhere they have an envelope neck which is just like a fold on the shoulders so you can pull them down. I try and avoid anything with too many fastenings just makes life harder. When dd1 was born someone bought her a beautiful babygrow that had popper fastenings up the back it was a nightmare!
I had the chameleon last time it was great lasted 2 babies and still going strong would recommend it. If you do go on holiday with it I would suggest getting the travel case as ours got a bit battered about they're about £100 new but I'm sure you could get one on eBay much cheaper :)

Pregnantagain7 · 07/07/2014 16:18

Xpost with yellow!

Me23 · 07/07/2014 16:18

Yes yellow that was my reasoning re not packing baby's things very early! I guess it doesn't hurt to pack a few things for us but I'll probably wait till about 35-36 weeks. We don't live far from hospital a few mins walk so in an emergency OH would go home and grab stuff. We have no idea what we will do with the other 2 kids when I go into labour we don't have anyone in London really. Nearest relative is Oh sister in Oxford who is happy to come but if middle of night or quick labour may have to ask one of OH friends to mid them till she gets here!

I do like the look of bugaboo cam3 but couldn't spend that much. I think we will end up buying carrycot for babyjogger and reuse Ds's.

sazzlehopes · 07/07/2014 16:37

I wore a M&S nightshirt thing which was great as I could undo the buttons easily for skin to skin contact whilst still feeling like I was wearing something....as it covered my bum when i was wandering around in it trying to labour!
A bit like this
