Bugger I've run out of any perfume, finished my regular stuff this morning so I was a potential danger to my credit card in Duty Free today! Managed to exit with finances unscathed! Just bought myself loads of tea & juice and nice things to eat on company card instead!

ohthegoats · 22/06/2014 11:52

Yeah I was a bit nervous about flying at 15/17 weeks, but it was a 12 hour flight. Boyfriend was worrying about impact on baby of me being absolutely terrified for at least 3 hours on the way home due to turbulence. I wonder if mother's stress at that early stage has any impact? I'll end up with an anxious child.

ohthegoats · 22/06/2014 11:53

I'm writing school reports this weekend (I'm in Cornwall though, so bribing myself with '5 reports, then a swim' and '5 reports then an hour out in the sunshine')... yesterday I gave myself really awful undercarriage pain from sitting down for too long. I have no idea how people with office jobs do it! I could barely walk when I stood up from one particularly long stretch of typing.

gunwalloe · 22/06/2014 13:31

Its strange that even in the same country we have maternity handled differently my growth chart looks like the one on this page
www.baby2see.com/medical/fundal_height.html
so im guessing we are all measured but some get it plotted on a graph and some just written in notes?

ohthegoats · 22/06/2014 13:55

Oh I've got that graph, I haven't really looked at it though. I have that information on the letters from the sonographer - shows where on the centile thingy etc. I've got some randomly high, and others randomly low... then at the next scan, they've switched around. I've not had my bump measured with a tape measure yet though, I assumed it was too early for that, since it's not really that much of a bump.

gunwalloe · 22/06/2014 13:59

I think they start measuring at the 26 week midwife appointment, have you got a midwife yet goats?
My bumps non existent im looking forward to our growth scan next week to check up on her

ohthegoats · 22/06/2014 14:14

No midwife! I'm 26 weeks this week, maybe I'll book an appointment just to see if I can meet one - although I've got a scan in 2 weeks, and another consultant appointment in 4.

Hmm, yes, will ring and see if I can meet a local one this week some time. Up until now my consultant appointments have been in the same weeks as the planned midwife ones.

porcito · 22/06/2014 14:49

tak1ng, I think there are different 'grades' of placenta previa- I'm sure they would have said if it was a problem to fly, especially if it's a short flight to Ireland. I have it too and was told definitely no flying from early on, no lifting, no sex (boo) but that was with lots of bleeding already etc.

Last night I noticed I was peeing blood, which was lovely. I'm assuming it's a UTI, but can't decide if it's worth dragging the doctor out to the clinic on her day off the give me something or if it can wait until tomorrow. My back is killing me as well, and probably in my head the baby's not moving as much. What would you ladies do? I wish I had a little window in there so I could see what's going on!

gunwalloe · 22/06/2014 14:52

eeeek portico I would see someone asap you need antibiotics. The back pain could be linked to the UTI to.

ohthegoats · 22/06/2014 14:53

I probably wouldn't take advice from me, but if I was peeing blood on a Sunday, I'd assume UTI, drink loads of water and cranberry juice, take paracetamol and go to the doctors as an urgent appointment in the morning.

Probably should ring an out of hours or something though really.

gunwalloe · 22/06/2014 14:54

Goats as your a first time mum you should have seen a midwife at 25 weeks. My appointments are a bit out of kilter due to consultant and midwife holidays, some are early and some late.

ohthegoats · 22/06/2014 15:17

I saw a consultant at 24+4 though, so no need to see a midwife 'properly'. One did ask me to wee into a thing while I was waiting for the consultant, but she literally gave me the pot and I left it in the toilet as asked. The consultant did the feedback on that - by which I mean, didn't mention anything about it, so I assumed it was all fine.

ExcitedCJ · 22/06/2014 15:20

Portico any pain with urination? I assume UTI too but would still go see GP. I went to out of hours with same when I was approx 8 wks & got antibiotics.

porcito · 22/06/2014 15:40

Thanks everyone. No, no pain, just horrible pains in the back today, but the blood was the first sign. I went to the free clinic last night, but there were no doctors there, just a security guard! Useful! I'm drinking water like some kind of thirsty camel and DP's going to call our doctor.

mrsb87 · 22/06/2014 16:00

porcito I hope you get to see someone soon.
crikey it's been hot today! Got the first coat of paint on the walls in the nursery, all ready for stripes! It's a lovely calming colour which I'm hoping will be a benefit. Dh is now making flapjacks Smile super tired now though, it's been a really busy weekend and back to work tomorrow. Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

YellowWellies · 22/06/2014 17:52

Porcito get checked today not tomorrow - just in case. For me. I worry otherwise. A lady on my last post natal thread went into labour at 31 weeks because of a UTI Sad So go!

Kirstipops · 22/06/2014 20:09

Hope you got to see a doc or something today porcito

Getting way ahead of myself, I have a wedding next March over in Ireland and just thinking about our options. Ideally I'd like to still be breastfeeding at that point so I'm between either leaving the 5 and a halfish month bubba behind with my parents with some expressed milk, (and obv will need to express some while I'm away), or take baby and parents along with us, make a long weekend of it and they can babysit during the day while we're at the wedding. Second option is more preferable but is obv going to be more expensive, but even if we did decide to leave baby behind I'm not even sure whether we'd stay for one night or two, two of my pregnant friends who are going are flying over on the day of the wedding and just staying that evening, coming home the next afternoon. Hmm.

YellowWellies · 22/06/2014 20:23

Kirsti would your Mum and Dad see the baby regularly, if not you might find he / she may not settle if left with them for a long period. I'd go with option two as it also allows for the potential that baby is a bottle refuser.

ExcitedCJ · 22/06/2014 20:25

Kirsti you would be much more relaxed & enjoy yourself more if you went for option 2. Is there a cottage that you could rent near the venue so that the expense would not be as prohibitive as hotel stay for all?
It's not really too early to think about it, if you booked cottage now & paid large deposit then you wouldn't even think of cost when time comes. Sure an Irish wedding is great craic, you'll be wanting to kick your heels up after 40 wks of pregnancy & 51/2 months of breast feeding. You are only here once, enjoy it! :)

ExcitedCJ · 22/06/2014 20:27

By the way, anyone else getting leg/foot cramps heaps? I've been having a bad few days with them.

Yep Yellow they live locally and we're a close family, holidaying together a lot etc, so I don't have any worries from that side of things. My gut feeling is the long weekend as well, and I'm sure my parents would be up for getting a wee cottage with us in Dun Laoghaire.

CJ I get them now and again but only in bed, not too sore thankfully but irritating as the only way I can get rid of them is by walking up and down or standing on the bad leg, not what I want to do at 4am!

Oh good lord! I just had a major cramp. Lasted for a good 10 mins, thought I was going to keel over at one point! Honesty thought I was going to have to phone hotel reception & get medical assistance! Blooming heck!

fedupofrainydays · 22/06/2014 22:00

Me too with the cramps. Only at night though when go to bed. Horrid!!

DH felt baby move this pm - been waiting for that moment!!! Grin

fedupofrainydays · 22/06/2014 22:07

kirsti option 2 for peace of mind!! I was still bf my ds at that point but he took a bottle so we were able to go away for night. I had a million hen dos when he was born so my breast pump did a tour of the country!! My friends found it hilarious (glad someone did!!). But it will be more relaxing if you can do option 2.
