Gun I'd call and be tempted to just go in to OOH. No messing around just in case xxx

Me23 · 20/06/2014 20:03

I'd phone the hospital gun, I'm sure it's probably fine but I wouldn't just send someone off with a Bp over 90 diastolic I would want to recheck it again in 15 mins. Did the gp use a machine to check it? These often over estimate Bp which is why in pregnancy they should be checked manually. I wouldn't worry about pre-eclampsia per se it is very rare to get it this early but I would call especially to look into the bleeding pop a pad on in case they invite you in they'll want to see it. You say it may be from you stratching are you itchy down there too? You may have infection or thursh even.

Kirstipops · 20/06/2014 20:41

Thanks fatpony for those links!

Oooh that IS quite spooky pregnantagain!! Doodee doo doo doodee doo doo (Twilight Zone music really doesn't translate phonetically haha)

Hope you can get in touch with your hosp or midwife gun, as others say, even just to set your mind at rest :)

Sitting looking down at my ginormous tum, outtie belly button is now ever so slightly sticking out of my vest top Shock. Hope you all have some nice weekend plans in the pipeline :)

Me can I just say how fantastic it is that you're so helpful on this thread - having our very own Oct midwife is fantastic Grin (especially when you feel rubbish yourself!).

Pinkie2103 · 20/06/2014 21:06

Those of you doing natal hypnotherapy.....have you started listening to the CD's yet? I have the VBAC version but plan to start listening to it soon

Also, did anyone get the Birth Music or Labour Companion CD's too? I could do with something to listen to but I know I'll end up procrastinating and won't but a proper playlist together (like last time!) so wasn't sure if one of these might make life easier!

Littlebear88 · 20/06/2014 21:30

Pinkie I'm still making my way through the book! Then I will start listening to the c.d, I also got the birth music cd.

I'm enjoying the book and it's making me look forward to labour rather than fearing it! I must say I've not had any trouble getting to sleep since I fell pregnant but lots of people have said the CDs are great at sending you off to sleep!!

mrsb87 · 20/06/2014 22:05

Thanks for the links fatpony! I will have a good scan through those tomorrow.
kirsti we have nursery organising to do tomorrow. My mum lovingly dumped a load of my stuff from her house on us last visit so I need to go through it all and most likely throw a lot out. It's a shame being stuck in doors though as this is the weather to be doing the garden but the spare room/dumping ground/nursery really can't be neglected any longer!
I have spent a long old day on my own, dh comes in, eats and went out again. I did make him buy me a magnum before he left as a consolation. Was bloody tasty too!

Kirstipops · 20/06/2014 22:38

Pinkie I've listened to the hospital/birth centre hypnotherapy cd a few times, maybe once or twice a fortnight since I got it (I'll listen more often in weeks to come), also working my way through the book. I agree with little bear, it makes me look forward to the experience and pretty empowered at the prospect of it!
Mrsb sorting the nursery out is something i really want to get onto as well, the planned room is currently where DH keeps his band gear, he wants to turn our shed into a wee studio but aforementioned shed also needs a clear out!

Thanks all I phoned and was told to see how it goes if it gets worse go in.

Yes me23 I've been itchy :( I had thrush a few weeks ago but it never made me itch so much I made myself bleed

YellowWellies · 20/06/2014 23:09

Kirsti Little bear that's the best attitude to labour. OK at times its tough - the best things in life are tough. But its amazing, so all immersing and transformative - you feel a different person after (in a good way). And no matter what happens, go in positive, calm, empowered, give it your all and whether natural birth or if you need a bit of help - you'll feel on top of the world when your baby is popped on your chest. I'm v excited!

ExcitedCJ · 20/06/2014 23:27

Hi all, been hectic this week & only catching up on Thread 8! Thanks Kirsti
Gun hope all is OK with you.
Magic thinking about you too, hope all went well with Harmony & scan.
Loving the baby name chat, I'm finding it very stressful trying to choose a classic yet slightly unusual boys name.
I met a woman last week called Orkideh (pronounced Or-ka-day) thought it was very pretty, also met a Sima today & if I had of being having a girl I would have named her Malin. Might help... Any boys suggestions gratefully accepted.

ohthegoats · 20/06/2014 23:53

I just made my doula deposit payment - ouch. Most expensive thing so far. Erk. But I'm already being head-in-the-sand about birth stuff, so it's probably worth every penny.

I like Malin, but it's the surname of some awful kids at my school. Will always be linked to them. I also like quite a lot of Indian names, but we're not Indian, so it's probably a bit weird to call a kid something clearly of another culture.

ohthegoats · 20/06/2014 23:58

Oh the baby name board on here is hilarious - people have such strong opinions of names. "I HATE THAT".. "It's horrible" really? It's just a name, once someone is called it, that's that. I wouldn't waste my hatred on a name. How weird.

porcito · 21/06/2014 00:22

goats, I looked on another board once, a US based one. Some of the names there were hilarious. As a teacher, (a horrible and judgemental one), I only saw a board full of future criminals. But I kept my mouth shut... I dont' think strangers can give opinions on peoples' name choices! Or belly size/how happy we are with the gender etc. but they keep giving it a good go!

ohthegoats · 21/06/2014 00:42

Yeah, the being a teacher thing makes life quite hard for names. I've ruled out anything beginning with a K for a boy, all K boys have been an issue for me (I have a nephew with a K name!). Would also rule out most names ending in -ie sounds, cos that's nearly every little girl as far as I can tell - does a grown up female prime minister want the name Lillie-Beatrice? Oh, and on that note, also any double barrelled first name.. Daizie-Mae for example. Or my personal favourite from the past: Heaven-Li.

Hmm.. haha, just as bad as everyone on the baby name board. No hatred though..

porcito · 21/06/2014 00:52

Haha, a bit of judgemental stereotyping not quite the same as raging hatred! Agree with K names...or names spelt in the most 'unusual' way possible see My-kell for Michael. Here everyone has the name Ana + other name, or Maria + other name. I'm currently trying to explain why having Jesus in the name wouldn't be as normal if we ever moved back to the UK. My DP seems to think all my name choices are for strippers though, so clearly a cultural thing!

Kirstipops · 21/06/2014 08:22

Can't wait to hear what you two decide on Porcito!

Holy cow! I'm not sleeping too well at the minute but it seemed that when I was asleep last night I was dreaming of the baby & breast feeding. I kept dreaming I left the baby in all sorts of random locations & kept forgetting I had a baby & it would fall out of my top onto the floor or my husband would leave him on the bed under the thick winter duvet! Very upsetting dreams!
I also dreamt he had sharp teeth coming through when he was born & when he latched on he took a bite of my nipple & I was pouring blood and breast milk everywhere!
I bought the 'Food of Love' book that Yellow recommended which I am really enjoying reading but I think the cartoons about getting the latch right have obviously hit some cerebral stress pocket! Never had an issue with feeding DC1 so I'm not sure what I'm freaking about!
I would highly recommend the book, never read a BF book last time & I think the hints, tips & general preparation this book gives are delivered in such a down to earth & friendly way, it's like a chat with a friend.

tothesea27 · 21/06/2014 09:48

I have checked that book out from the library, and I'm excited to start reading it. Any recommendations for books on labour and then babies? Not quite sure where to start but would love to read a few things to feel a bit more prepared.

ExcitedCJ · 21/06/2014 12:07

Sea I have Marie Mongan Hypnobirth book & CD, a book called the Oxytocin Factor & Juju Sundin Birth Skills. I'm motoring through the 'Food of Love' & then I'll start

ExcitedCJ · 21/06/2014 12:07

Oops, posted by mistake..
Birth Skills.

queenasanti3 · 21/06/2014 12:43

Hi all,

My 3D/4D, is all booked so cant wait till 14th July to see our little baba again, sooo excited.
Will have to purchase my double pram soon as think thats the only thing I really need until I know the gender of my baby as my llittle one is only 10 months at the moment so have almost everything from her, so not too much to purchase at the moment.

ExcitedCJ · 21/06/2014 14:54

I've gone clean crazy sale shopping today! Went to HOF earlier & bought 4 pairs of baby trousers & 2 tops & 3 pairs of the cutest little socks. I also love a website called Little Sunflowers, where I bought another outfit & I bought a sleep/romper suit on a 3rd site as well as getting the Natal Hypnotherapy CD's. Finally I got a little pair of blue leather baby shoes with foxes on them, can't wait to see them, just love baby shoes.
That is me, I will have to direct all F&F to other things required as the funds are done!! :)

YellowWellies · 21/06/2014 15:22

I love Juju Sundins Birth Skills book too.

Pinkie2103 · 21/06/2014 16:19

I agree. The Juju book is awesome!
