Ahhh just watching one born every minute! Just kinda got a reality check that im going to have a baby in october! Which is reminding me why I don't want dh at this birth I would obviously never ban him but last time round he was the asking midwife for a sick bucket and saying he was going to faint and it stressed me more than the contractions!

PopcornFrenzy · 02/07/2014 22:20

Maths that's exactly how I feel, he wouldn't feel sick but he would be sitting in a corner mocking me for the entire time and I'd end up telling him to fuck off anyway!

I've just watched One Born and can't believe I'm going to be a mummy again Smile

utopian99 · 02/07/2014 22:38

We watched 2 mins of opening credits of OBEM last time and decided never again. Nuts to the joy of birth, am pretending it all happened to someone else, and I sincerely hope dh will too. And ours was pretty quick and easy.

on a different note - have anyone's cravings kicked in in a big way? Last time it was tomatoes and apples, this time it's gherkins and just ANY meat it seems!

weeonion · 02/07/2014 23:06

Have any of you read this? Loved it - very funny. Cant believe some people didnt get the satire.

Wee onion, that link is hilarious, really made me laugh out loud! Smile
Can't fathom that anyone would take it seriously, although some people probably do actually think along those lines.
I hope I won't care if feeding my baby bothers anyone...

BabyButton1 · 03/07/2014 08:42

Morning everyone :-) just checking in again. So much too catch up on. Sorry I've been quite busy as I've had lots of visitors the past week.

Huge congratulations to all those who have had scans...the pics look lovely. Looks like there's lots of big beautiful babies to come. My scan isn't for another week and a half. Feels like time Is dragging :-(

Has anyone started to get acid reflux/heartburn? From the moment I wake up I have acid burning sensation all down my food pipe and comes up into my mouth non stop...I've been throwing up every night with it. Rennies help a little bit. Any good recommendations??

Baby sales - I've made note of the sainsburys summer sale :-) we bought a few baby bits from asda at the weekend...so gorgeous.

My hyperemesis is slowly easing. I am still really sick at nights but managing to eat a little bit in the day and can get out and do bits. My doctor has finally signed me back to work for 3 hours a day. Don't think my head teacher was overly impressed with this especially with there only being 2 weeks left, but I've been off for 3 months now so can't jump back into full time. I've put on 3kg in 2 weeks do now just under 9 stone and only half a stone under pre birth weight :-))))

I haven't had much movements still???? I'm nearly 19 weeks...doctor said to only be concerned if you don't have regular movements by 20!? Anyone else still not having proper movements?

Good luck for any scans today :-)

Annarose2014 · 03/07/2014 10:32

Oh Babybutton don't pay attention to that - my sonographer said 24 weeks. And I'm 22 weeks today and feel nothing, though I have a Doppler and baby is fine. And he was moving away like mad on my 20 week scan. I have a high anterior placenta which is acting like a mattress and I'll be one of the very last to feel anything, I know.

I take Gaviscon for the heartburn - some days are worse than others. But if Gaviscon doesn't work then you can get Ranitidine, which is meant to be fab. I find Rennies too chalky!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 03/07/2014 10:35

I am 19weeks today n feel flutterings but no full on kicking yet.

Just left my 3yr old at his school induction session he is 4 at end Aug. He was very brave no tears big kiss n cuddle n he said goodbye.

Teachers were bit pants it was like hello to each child then do u want to go and find something to play with but no then parents please make a quick exit I asked how we got out n how we collected them which was a little vague and another couple parents joined me in leaving. They are only there just over an hr so better parents go quickly than hang around. One mum said ohhh u know what your doing I am following u I did say I haven't got a clue but do work with schools so just know what to ask n what should happen.

Miskate · 03/07/2014 10:37

FYI - you can get gaviscon on presription from your doctor if you're chugging away at it like cheap lambrini currently.

ToniWol · 03/07/2014 11:04

Lovely pictures ladies.

Am now fretting as the bite I got on Tuesday is now swollen and hurting. Tried to get in at Drs this morning but no luck so will try again tonight. Feeling so thirsty as well. Been using Boots bite and sting cream but it hasn't helpedHmm

haventgotaclue1 · 03/07/2014 12:33

Babybutton don't worry about not feeling anything yet- I'm like Annarose, 20+3, with an anterior placenta. THINK I feel the odd thing every now and again, but not convinced it's bean moving around! Still, I know it's a wriggler as on the 20 week scan its arms and legs were moving around like crazy! Grin
Bit surprised really as on the scan photos there doesn't appear to be a huge amount of space for much movement. ...but I guess that's normal and everything will continue to grow. ...I read on the NCT website yesterday that from now on bump will grow by about 1-2cm a week! !!Shock

Elliekins · 03/07/2014 12:59

Hi, I'm 22 weeks tomorrow and I am still hardly feeling anything either - I too have a high anterior placenta, I'm hopping later on this might be a blessing as getting kicked awake all night sounds less than fun!
I am feeling flutters and gentle taps but not a single solid kick yet and the sonographer said about 24 weeks or so before I really notice anything. I was getting really worried too but I'm sure you'll find you're the same a Babybutton.

Annarose2014 · 03/07/2014 13:15

I was also very suprised by how squished everything seems to be around baby, but there it was, moving around no problem! I presume its easier cos its floating in water and the womb is flexible. Its like a little baby seal in there!

BabyButton1 · 03/07/2014 14:27

Thank you all :-) sure it is fairly normal and hopefully it is that I have a high placenta or something too.
The build up to the scan seems to be taking forever...

Annarose & miskate ...I think I'll try gaviscon thanks. The rennies are like sucking a minty paracetamol or something very chalky. Seems to be not too bad today but I've taken rennies from the moment I woke up. The chemist said you can have 10-15 a day. I'll ask my doctor about getting prescription.

I paid my first visit to mammas & papas today...50% off sake is evil. I love the animal themed bedroom...I want it all but I worked out it would be a few hundred for the little decor bits - will take DP and see if I can persuade him ;-)

Wow it's crazy if grows 1-2 cm a week. My bump has grown so much over the last 2 weeks...I had to buy a few loose summer work dresses today as the ones I bought 2 weeks ago are too tight on my ribs. Anyone else had a massive growth spurt?

Miskate · 03/07/2014 15:23

What do people think about semi permanent hair dyes? I hate having my hair the same colour for too long, and it's been this shade for 18 months now.

bunnykitten · 03/07/2014 15:43

Such lovely scan pictures! Mine were very blurry so they didn't charge for them.

I had a random woman walk up to me in the street, demand to know how many weeks pregnant I was and then criticise me for not being big enough! I was so flabbergasted I just walked away, but I wish I'd said something now Angry

BrandSnob · 03/07/2014 16:04

Having the day from hell today!! Work has been ridiculously busy and the MWs are plying silly buggers.

After trying to book antenatal classes for weeks, someone finally answers the phone and told me to call back in 3 weeks. Although I call back after 2 weeks which is today. Only to be told I'm out of the hospital area despite my consultant being based there and it's the hospital I'll be delivering at.

So I call the closer more shittier hospital, who tells me they are booked up fully booked until December!, with no waiting list in operation.

Then called back the original hospital to explain the situation who have now put me on their waiting list albeit at the bottom as I'm out of area. I live slap bang between both hospitals, but they won't take me as my postcode doesn't fit. AngryAngryAngry

Rant over. Now to fight the inconsiderates on London Transport. Good luck to the first person that pushes me!

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 03/07/2014 16:51

Hi All Had my 20 week scan today and it was so lovely to see bub again. But it wasn't behaving and moving all the time and it took 40 mins to do the scan including me rolling on different sides, touching my toes, going for a wee! Anyway it turns out it has a big head and belly like his dad!

The only issue is that it may have a left club foot so I'm going to see the consultant next week. The baby wouldnt stop wriggling so it could have been that the sonographer couldn't get a decent look. The consultant was present for the birth of Prince George so I guess I'm lucky he also does NHS work at Chelsea and Westminster. No point in worrying yet anyway.

Petal26 · 03/07/2014 17:00

button If Gaviscon doesn't work ask for Zantac at the docs, it's a tablet, max of 2 per day, is working well for me.
I'm only having one in the evenings when I need it but Gaviscon didn't work for me last pregnancy so asked for an alternative straight away this time!

Hope it turns out to be nothing to worry about when, when you see the royal consultant :-)

Annarose2014 · 03/07/2014 18:16

Miskate I dye my hair at home. I make sure to do it with all the windows open, use gloves etc. One of my Pregnancy books said that the animal trials which indicated birth defects used doses way, way WAY above normal use. The poor animals! Sad

So basically if you use it as recommended a normal human being will be fine.

barmybunting · 03/07/2014 19:28

BabyButton, I am on something called omniperzol for heartburn/acid reflux and have been for a few weeks. Combined with the anti sickness meds, it has given me a new life! I found gaviscon fairly useless.

utopian99 · 03/07/2014 20:29

We had our 20 week scan too - leaving sex a mystery which is driving me slightly potty but it's healthy and all on the 75th centile or thereabouts, which is similar to O.
His bedroom is animals/safari but in an adult rather than children's way - dark wood furniture, white walls and safari wallpaper made from 19th century sketches. Looks fun but not too garish (I hope) The new small is going to have to share though, so it could get a bit cosy once they move out of our room...

weeonion · 03/07/2014 21:17

good evening all - how you doing?

When - hope all goes ok next week.
utopian - good news on the scan!

babybutton - another anterior placenta here so def less movement. DD wasnt and it is such a different experience this time round. its all a lot more subtle ... and later with kicks and movements.

brandsnob - that is rubbish and worse than infuriating. are tehre any other options? we did the NCT ones last time. our hospital only offers us 2nd timers a one hour revision class...

I had my first lazydaisy antenatal class last night. out of 8 of us - i was the only one going for dc2. it was amazing to see the difference in all the bumps - sizes / shape etc given that we were all 21 - 28 weeks. it was really chilled - very nice. stripeytoes - i thought i had met you but alas no! out of 8 of us at it - 4 are planning homebirths!

greenstone - over your side of the pond this weekend!!

utopian99 · 03/07/2014 22:21

Could you find an nct refresher course weeoinion? We're doing that, although more for the social than refreshing side, as we've just moved so looking for a new network down here..

amylou85 · 03/07/2014 22:45

babybutton yes my bump has well and truly popped, massive compared to the last couple of weeks, lots of people commenting now which I love :-D

brandsnob I enquired in the NCT website for a course near my area and she found the best and nearest course for me and emailed me with the info so it might be worth doing that :-)
