Nice to be back. Scan on Thursday. I'm excited to find out if I'm having a boy or girl and of course praying that little one is ok and safe in there.

It's so hot already. Lovely hubby has bought me some maternity shirts and I love them already.

Spannertime · 21/06/2014 09:09

Shorts. Not shirts. Shirts are a bit formal for weekends :)

Elliekins · 21/06/2014 19:18

Well I saw my amazing acupuncture lady last night and she accidentally let it slip what she thought we were having - I sort of lead her into it deliberately and have been begging her to tell me her guess for ages.
She says she won't tell so as not to get people's hopes up (if they have a preference) and then disappoint if she's wrong and that she has over an 80% success rate and I do believe in her. She knew from my pulse I was preggers only 7 days after we had sex and already had it written in my notes when I told her a week later.
She says it's a boy!
I have been really hoping for a girl if I'm honest so it's been quite helpful because I've started thinking about what having a son would be like as getting a bit excited. Plus, I think we MIGHT have agreed on a boy's name too. Smile
That sweet little dress will have to go back to the shop....
I just want to know for sure now!
Argh. 5 days and 14 hours to wait!

blamber · 21/06/2014 21:27

I have created a Google Doc to fill in all your due dates. I hope it works ok.

Just go to this link. You should end up in the right google doc and in a sheet called 'input' (see left bottom of screen). This is where you fill in your data. Just name and due date is fine, the rest you can fill in if you want.

Then if you want to see the list sorted by date, click on the sheet called 'sorted'. This should display all of us by due date. If you can't see yourself yet even though you just put your data in, refresh the screen. But make sure you put your data in 'input' and not 'sorted'!

Let me know if you want any of the columns renamed, added or deleted!

You don't need a google account to edit the doc. But if you are signed into your google account and you want to stay anonymous when you edit, just sign out first.

Welcome back Spanner, hope you're starting to feel a little more like yourself. I'm sure looking forward to the scan will help!

Thanks for that doc Blamber

I've got a bit addicted to my doppler, I said I would only use it every 3 - 4 days to check but now use it every night! I'm still at the stage where I don't know if I'm feeling babies movements or if its wind! Can't wait til I know for sure! Only know its moving around thanks to my doppler.

kate393 · 21/06/2014 22:47

Evening all...just tried to catch up the last few days...you are a chatty lot. Loving all the good scan news...mine seems so far away still. I've vanished from the stats list but will wait til get on laptop to update.
Had a fab few days in London and at ascot...went with another couple who are pregnant so nice to be not only one off the champers! It's wiped me out tho and got home and started feeling really off it and chesty cough has gone bananas...hoping good nights sleep back in own bed will sort me out!

Petal26 · 22/06/2014 08:12

Good morning :-)
20 weeks today, half way there!
Scan tomorrow, argh, can't wait!

Strawberryfield12 · 22/06/2014 09:37

amylou85 ended up buying a doppler this week also, mainly because of some paranoia fit I had, for now have managed to stay away from it after used once when it arrived. We basically stored it back into the box and away in the cupboard, so it is away from my eyes and also hassle to unpack, unless there is a reason to go through the pain of unpacking everything.
What I found with the doppler was that the HB wasnt as loud and clear as few days before when the MW listened to it at 16 appointment. I suppose hers was bit better than £20 one from Amazon...

MrsDowneyJunior · 22/06/2014 11:32

21 weeks today - weird to think I'm closer to the birth than conception now!

barmybunting · 22/06/2014 12:39

Morning everyone! Time is marching on with more happy scans Smile.

We have been looking at cots etc this week which has made me wonder- what does baby sleep under when they first come home usually? Sleeping bags (If they are big enough), swaddling things or just sheet/blanket? Wondering what we need to get really!

Alita7 · 22/06/2014 13:07

I've got a really cute swaddling thing (tk maxx) but my nans knitting blankets as well.

I'm getting really impatient now I know he's a boy I just want to meet him!!

Starting placement tomorrow and no idea what I'll wear In the heat!

mismylinford · 22/06/2014 13:10

bunting- with dd we used gro bags right from the start up until she was 18 months and wouldn't fit in one. i think they are really good but is everyone's preference.

amy83firsttimer · 22/06/2014 13:49

I read something today about how sleeping bag thingy is for 4kg plus so small newborn would need swaddling or tucking in tightly in normal sheet / blanket type bedding.

MrsDowneyJunior · 22/06/2014 14:17

I hadn't even thought of that! DD was born in the middle of a heatwave and I didn't dress her in more than a nappy for the first few weeks and just had fans on us constantly! Going to be weird having a newborn in the winter!

barmybunting · 22/06/2014 14:18

Amy, I read something similar about sleeping bags which was why I wondered about them. I have discovered that grobag do swaddling things suitable from birth as well, I think that must be the type of thing you mentioned Alita?

Thanks mismylinford, I will see if I can find done suitable from birth. I think we will get a couple of sleeping bags (guessing more than one is a good idea) and some of the ready swaddling things and see how we get on. Blankets etc have all been passed on from friends so we are sorted there.

What do go all think baby needs to be sleeping in clothes wise given it'll be Nov so getting cold? A short sleeved vest and a sleepsuit or is that too much?

barmybunting · 22/06/2014 14:21

Alita, can you get away with a dress and leggings when on placement? I gave up on tights weeks ago for work although I always normally wear them for work and am either going in dresses and sandals, or wearing leggings under a dress with ballet pumps for work just now. Or do you have to be in trousers etc for placement?

MrsDowneyJunior · 22/06/2014 14:33

If it works as it did with DD then this one will be in my bed with me from day 1 so should only need a warm babygrow as my bed is hot and she'll have my body heat too, maybe a vest underneath, but my room is draughty so possibly a little cotton hat too. If it gets too draughty on a windy night we can go in the spare room which is far warmer. They say baby should wear one more layer than you and in winter in my draughty room I'm usually in a fleece onsie or thermal pj's, under a 12 tog duvet pulled up over my head with just my nose poking out, extra fan heater on, sometimes a blast under the duvet with the hairdryer... I would worry about a baby in my room in just a babygrow with a blanket up to her waist. Might have to rethink this, maybe move into the spare room. Hmm

barmybunting · 22/06/2014 14:40

One more layer than us? In winter I usually sleep in thick warm pjs with a huge fleece and bed socks under a 10 tog duvet and a thick blanket, I hate the cold! This baby is going to need to be wrapped up like a bear to have another layer!

Sounds like a move to your spare room may be an idea MrsDowney!

mismylinford · 22/06/2014 15:45

anyone suffering from hip pelvic lower back pain? im in agony feels like i have a joint in my spine rubbing as i walk. can the doctors do anything for it or is it a wasted trip?

Alita7 · 22/06/2014 15:53

I'm one of those people who are always too hot so ill have to judge by what dsd is wearing to bed instead as I sleep naked and never change the duvet tog, I think it's 8.5 togs (no duvet in summer if too hot) in the winter I might put on socks and pj trousers which get taken off after about 10 minutes.
I wonder if baby will be hot like me (mum says I was always on the warm side even as a baby) or colder.

The swaddling thing I got from tk maxx was only £9.99 so I'd like a few more! My nans knitting a sleeping bag too.

Barmy I don't know what the dress code is like on this placement it seems to vary a lot in different places, I'll see what other people are wearing. Even leggings will be too hot though, like I said I get too hot even when not pregnant and I HATE being too hot, I can't do anything in this humid heat (though I love being hot in the sun on the beach in Spain :p). I feel for those of you working all summer! I wish I could just wear long floaty skirts :(

Alita7 · 22/06/2014 15:55

misslinford, I've get pains in my inner hips, like the pelvic bone area, above the groin, when I have to run for a bus, walk more than approx quarter of a mile or walk up a hill.

OP posts:
amy83firsttimer · 22/06/2014 16:00

When you buy the sleeping bags (and presumably on the grobag website) it has a chart of what tog sleeping bag / other clothes combination to use for different temperatures.

Oh and Can't. Stop. Online. Shopping.
Oops my poor bank balance.

Hopeful83 · 22/06/2014 17:21

I had been wondering that as I went shopping and got lots of bits yesterday but was wondering how you know how many layers to do etc. I think the rule of one more than us sounds useful. Although I'm always cold so maybe the same as me will be ok

No hip pain here but my back aches every day when I wake up and if I sit or stand in any one position for more than half an hour. I'm finding it hard to be comfortable

ladydolly · 22/06/2014 19:02

misslinford I have this, I'm being referred for physio but the only thing that helps is swimming...
