There has just been a wonderful hypnobirth on OBEM. I'm googling it!

MademoiselleG · 18/06/2014 21:33

Thanks Rpopz - will contact them and ask if there is one for our area!

KeepOnPloddingOn · 18/06/2014 21:48

I am thinking hypno birthing looks interesting - that or a caesarean this time round methinks. Ha!

cheshirem2b · 18/06/2014 22:03

We are pencilled on to nct (subject to scan result tomorrow) - my bf did cnt with her first pg and said it was great and they have loads of new parent friends from it as well which I'm hoping for!
Just watching our recording of obem... Got my tissues ready!

Saraswati · 19/06/2014 06:23

Morning all - I'm debating nct it's 300 quid in my area which seems a little excessive. I'm going to hold off booking before I decide, starting preggo yoga next week which the teacher also runs birth workshops with hynobirthing and lots of other stuff so I'm hoping I'll meet mums through that. My local children's centre also has loads of baby groups and stuff so I'm not sure whether nct would be worth the cost yet!

Told two of our closest friends last night, they screamed in my face they were so excited!! It was so nice, telling two of my best friends tonight who are both single and live in London, not sure they'll be so excited!

Anyone have scans today?

Monstamio · 19/06/2014 06:23

Good luck for scans todayCheshire and Gingy!

Going to try to get myself booked onto nct today. I think it will be helpful for DH who hasn't done as much reading up on stuff as me. Plus we're quite new to the area so I'm really hoping for the social aspect too.

Saraswati · 19/06/2014 06:23

Just read back properly - good luck cheshire !

cheshirem2b · 19/06/2014 06:35

Well... Went to bed late - was tired but couldn't sleep. And I'm awake already. So nervous and still have8 hours to wait! Hmm I think it's going to be a long day!
Good luck anyone else with scans today! Fx for you!

KeepOnPloddingOn · 19/06/2014 06:40

Good luck for the scans today ladies!

I am really thinking of doing a hypnobirthing course too saras - as my last birth was so traumatic.
I was 10 days over and was induced and then had an instrumental delivery and episiotomy- this then resulted in me haemorrhaging. Poor dd was in distress too. Because of that I have always hoped for a caesarean... But watching the lady do so well on OBEM last night has made me reconsider... Sorry if that is tmi regarding my birth- but what I am trying to say is due to my last birth being so manic and massively influenced by drugs .... I would love to go au natural.

I also do not drink anymore (recovering alcoholic) and have been sober quite a while ...so I would prefer to steer clear of any mind altering substances if poss too. Diamorphine is cray - cray!!!

Anyway - sorry for the me me me post- have a good day all.

looking4rainbow · 19/06/2014 07:12

Morning all I have my official nhs scan at 11:30. Although I've had 3 scans already im still petrified as I'm going to the same hospital I received bad news from before.

All being well I'm defiantly going to look into hypnobirth, looked so calm on obem last night.

Good luck to all those having scans today Smile

Thanks for the idea Madrigals music will be a good idea. Thought I would be strong and create new happy memories so stuck to same hospital (not feeling so strong today) positive thinking Smile

KeepOnPloddingOn · 19/06/2014 07:44

mad they never told me why I had a PPH - I have a Debrief soon though. This may help me decide.
I am very much all or nothing. I want to do no pain relief, or go the whole shabang and get a caesarean - ha!

lookong good luck!

j200 · 19/06/2014 07:58

Good luck for scans today! I may have also booked myself another private scan to ease my nerves before my official one next week....7pm Central London and only £39 which is a bargain (just 10min appt but enough for me!) praying all ok

Considering hypnobirthing after OBEM last night too, seemed like the dream birth!

Enjoy the sunshine all trying to not think about sweaty tube

lindamagoo · 19/06/2014 08:03

Good luck with your scans today ladies, hope all goes well Smile

We are going away to the caravan today and I don't think I get a signal there so might not be able to catch up until Monday Hmm Hope you all have a great weekend

Minibagel · 19/06/2014 08:12

Good luck with the scans today everyone.

j200 that sounds like its well worth it for peace of mind.

keepon Im just like you, all or nothing. Had a hypnobirth with ds1 despite being induced, no drugs not even gas+air. It was far from pain free but I stayed in control and kept calm and controlled using breathing and counting techniques. But I do feel traumatised by having experienced it all, its hard to explain but its all very fresh in my head as ds1 is almost 1. This time I want an early epidural if time allows and I know with second births especially there isnt always time as you tend to progress faster. I wont qualify for a csection, but I want to experience it free of pain if possible.

LMSunshine · 19/06/2014 08:14

Good luck to everyone who has scans today.

gingysmummy · 19/06/2014 08:19

Good luck with scans today fx we can report back with good news. Looking I'm the same was feeling strong but now the day has come I'm a wreck

LulusMiniEgg · 19/06/2014 09:24

Good luck to all those with scans today, look forward to hearing happy news from you xxx

LadyCottington · 19/06/2014 09:39

Good luck to everyone with scans today!

Anyone else's DH/DP not going to the scan? My DH won't be able to get the time off work and I'm really upset (I think he is, too). I'm thinking of booking a private one after maybe so he can see, but it's probably not going to be quite the same. I've told him to speak to his boss this Friday when he comes to visit to see if they can get cover for the morning, but I think he's a bit reluctant to ask.

I'm also interested in hypnobirthing. I was looking at books on amazon yesterday and there's quite a well rated one with a CD by Maggie Howell. I might look to see if there's any courses where we are, but I doubt there will be! We're hoping to move to Bristol before baby is born, so I might have time to do one there Smile

In other news, I didn't throw up this morning! Yay!

Bangkokbaby · 19/06/2014 09:40

Morning!
I have my scan this morning at 11.15. Very worried about it :(
Quick question, there was nothing on the letter about drinking water for a full bladder before the scan. I'm going to do it anyway as I reckon its easier to empty it than fill it at the last minute! Do you always need a full bladder at the first scan? What if there is a long wait before you get called in? I'm not great at going long periods between using the loo at the moment! Blush
Good luck to everyone else with a scan today!

gingysmummy · 19/06/2014 09:42

Lady I'm going on my own as my dh just started new job 100 miles away on mon Hmm

Minibagel · 19/06/2014 10:38

bangkok yes to the full bladder. I drank about 2/3rds of a bottle of water (75cl) on the drive to the scan and felt like I needed a wee. Managed to hold it in and got seen straight away. Good luck, let us know how you go.

Minibagel · 19/06/2014 10:42

Lady and anyone else going for a hypnobirth, I would recommend downloading these relaxation/ visualisation tracks which really helped me have my hypnobirth. Download as soon as you can and listen daily if you can. Not necessarily the whole thing but at least 1 track. The more you do the more prepared you'll be.

KeepOnPloddingOn · 19/06/2014 10:49

Mini- my dd is just over one so it is still fresh for me. Hats off to you for being induced and still having a drug free labour ! It is known to be even more painful than general labour so you did so well to still manage the hypnobirthing ( I hope I don't sound patronising - I am genuinely in awe of you managing that!)

Thanks for the link, I shall have a gander. Dh has informed me I will need the drugs! Haha, poor soul was more traumatised than me the last time!
