Blizy I have IBS too and my constipation and bloating has been awful so far. Constipation has been resisting dietary remedies and even a senokot Friday night had little effect. Everyone must be very bored of me talking about my bunged up bum by now!

fancyacupoftea · 08/06/2014 18:08

Camsie Always best to get something like that checked out. Have you got a mw number?

ViviPru · 08/06/2014 18:10

bunged up bum Grin

quinn I feel the same as you. I think I would prefer not to get the tests. I know of so many people who were given bad odds & it turned out fine. They said it absolutely ruined their pregnancy & advised against getting tested (unless you are sure you would terminate). If the tests could give you a definite 'yes/no' I'd be more keen, but I'd hate to suffer increased anxiety in my pregnancy. DP is v keen to get tested though. We'll have to decide quickly.

Thanks fancy this wait feels so endless I'm so impressed that people are hanging on to 12 weeks. Though it wasn't actually my choice, the date was given to me.

MightyQuin1201 · 08/06/2014 18:26

Hi Mslad that is my worry- that I will worry throughout the pregnancy, however I would terminate if I were to find out my baby was going to be born with a condition which meant she wouldn't live for very long at all etc and I do feel that dealing with something such as Downs would be something my DH & I could certainly cope with and make the very most of. If I were 5 years younger it would be different and I would definitely choose not to test. My DH is very much on the fence too. This is such a difficult subject Sad

Loobyloo893 · 08/06/2014 18:33

This is why we are having nifty test. We want a near as can be yes or no answer after having high risk with DS. It's such a difficult topic. At the time we were adamant we would keep DS if he had downs and I think we would have but I'm glad we didn't have to make that decision. It would be harder for me this time as we have DS to think of and how it would affect him aswell. But I honestly don't think i could go through with a termination unless I absolutely had to. It's one of those situations that you'll never know how you'll react until you have to make that decision.

blizy · 08/06/2014 18:35

fancy I have a very bunged up bump. The cramps and bloating have been so miserable, I've just done a tesco order full of dried apricots, oj and activa (my usual de bunging tricks), fingers crossed!

I will have the NT and blood tests but that is all.

MightyQuin1201 · 08/06/2014 18:37

What's the difference between Nifty & Harmony Looby? I understand from the FMC website that if it comes up as very strong they will then offer cvs/ amnio, so is it still a guessing game unless you go ahead with the invasive diagnostic tests? Where are you having the Nifty test? (You don't need to answer that if you feel it will 'out' you!)

blizy · 08/06/2014 18:39

Our dd was born with downs. I only had the quad blood test, which came back as low risk, we only found out at her postmortem review. We have decided that we will carry on with this pregnancy no matter what.

lindamagoo · 08/06/2014 18:41

KeepOn my thyroid was overactive to start with also, the sweats were horrendous Hmm And yes the 5 stone was a nightmare to lose and I gained it all back in my second pregnancy when I developed Polyhydramnious Hmm so right now I am still overweight, this is my last baby though so will work hard on the flab afterwards Smile

fancyacupoftea · 08/06/2014 18:41

I'm currently ODing on raisins as pre-pregnancy they'd have me running to the loo. NOTHING. Maybe I'll try dried apricots too!

Bugaboom · 08/06/2014 18:42

camsie I had light bleeding at 7 weeks just one evening. I phoned EPU and they advised my gp to refer me which he did. Had a scan the next morning. Which was all fine. It is probably nothing but best to get it checked

lindamagoo · 08/06/2014 18:42

Bugaboom we have the same scan date Smile

Loobyloo893 · 08/06/2014 18:44

Were having it done in leeds. From what they said the nifty and harmony are pretty much the same thing just the results are analysed in different countries and by different companies. From both you get either high or low risk but they are 99% accurate so if given low risk 99% baby is fine, if high risk 99% has something. And because they do a risk for each of the three conditions (downs, Edwards patau? I think) you'll know which one you're dealing with. Does that make sense?

lindamagoo · 08/06/2014 18:45

fancy try some fruit and fibre cereal! I've started having a bowl every morning and it's done the job on the toilet front

Bugaboom · 08/06/2014 18:46

That's nice lindamagoo Smile. I'll be exactly 13 weeks according to my early scan but 14 according my LMP so interested to know where they will put me!

Loobyloo893 · 08/06/2014 18:46

The clinic told me that if, for example, we got backs high risk of downs 99% chance they have it. If you know you wouldn't terminate then there is no need for cvs/amino as toucan pretty much accept that that is what you're dealing with. They offer cvs/amino so that if you do want to terminate they can make 100% sure before you do it.

lindamagoo · 08/06/2014 18:47

I'll be 12 + 4 by lmp and 12 + 2 by early scan. Feels like forever away still

fancyacupoftea · 08/06/2014 18:52

Fruit & Fibre has never done it for me Linda! If I could I'd eat the stuff by the vat too, I love it. I have bough bran flakes this week though (going to put my raisins on it) so fingers crossed my body has decided that bran flakes will get things moving!

Thanks Looby that's really useful.

Camsie30 · 08/06/2014 18:56

Thanks ladies. Have just spoken to a friend who experienced a lot of bleeding and now has a beautiful 12 week old son. Feel calmer, going to see what happens overnight and if I'm still bleeding will call EPU first thing xx
