Oh emily I'm pleased things are looking up x

I feel bad now coming on here for a rant. Dh, ds and I are all ill. Not properly ill yet but we are all coming down with something and feel like shit. Dh's car is in pieces on the drive again, there's stress in bucketloads around childcare for ds (another story completely) and BIL is having an operation to determine if he has cancer or not next week and he's only 22. So overall we're all tired and grouchy. But then dh starts going on about how much work he's done around the house today and how he has done x loads of washing and how I never bother finishing the washing when I start it (bullshit). So I point out that the washing is supposed to be my job and I'd appreciate it if he left it the fuck alone because he does it wrong (e.g. there are towels and jeans mixed in with normal clothes in the dryer right now which are going to take forever to dry) and doesn't fold the clothes when they come out the dryer so they end up a creased mess and take up more room in the basket. It descended into an argument and I've kicked his unfolded basket of washing across the floor. I don't want to pick it up or fold it so I'm trying to think of things that will keep ds and me out of the house all day tomorrow so I don't have to sit inside looking at the washing lying all over the floor.

How's that for petty? I can see I'm being an idiot but I'm still fucked off with him so I'm determined not to give in and fold the sodding washing.

Emily I'm so happy for you, was thinking just yesterday that we hadn't heard anything and was wondering how things were with you!

The move today went reasonably well, I'm shattered (even though I didn't really do much) and all I want to do is go to bed already. I seem to have started throwing up my dinners again yay I just hope it settles down soon as I feel fine for the majority of the day Smile

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 06/06/2014 20:36

BigHairy I'm fairly confident that I'm getting extra folic acid through my diet (shock horror, a fatty who knows what broccoli is) and I'm sure you are too, so I wouldn't be too worried. BESIDES WHICH! The notes advise that you should only take it for the first trimester, which ends for me next week and I believe ended for you a while ago? Derp.

EmilyPinkOrBlue · 06/06/2014 20:44

Thank you all for your thoughts and support. It's great to be back with the gang!

stripeymonster · 06/06/2014 20:48

Emily - really glad to hear from you . I did wonder how you were getting on. It sounds like you have had a horrid time. The waiting is really stressful. So glad you can relax a little and focus on the positive news you've received. Hope you have a better weekend and get to enjoy the sunshine. Keep us posted on how you get on - we are all here to help if we can xxxxx

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 06/06/2014 20:57

Peace Really?!? I thought you had to take it all the way through! If so that's great! One less thing to have to remember would be great!

CatFaceCrayola · 06/06/2014 20:59

Thanks for the encouragement peace a sing song (and some chippy chips) cheered ne up wonderfully!

emily... Great to have you back and glad you got some good news!

monkeybaby2 · 06/06/2014 21:01

Right so Dr Google reckons all we can do for sciatic pain is 'taking over-the-counter painkillers, exercise and hot or cold packs can usually relieve the symptoms'. So bugger all then.

And Pourquoi, your DH is a brave man to poke a pg woman with the I've-done-more-work-than-you stick. I'd have ripped his face off.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 06/06/2014 21:14

Pourquois i agree with Monkeybaby. I'd have taken him down for that!

DP was moaning that giving up fags was hard the other day.... I had spent the day being sick and the evening CRAVING beer. There was much growling and he hasn't complained since. (I have also given up fags and I haven't had the Champix to help - just MS!)

Pepsiaddict · 06/06/2014 21:17

Emily, congratulations on your little boy! Sounds like you've had a traumatic time but glad the amino results were good

ChineseFireball · 06/06/2014 21:40

Congratulations on your boy, Emily! Sorry you've had such a rough time but glad you've had some good news. I'm sure nobody minds you talking about things here. This is a support thread, after all! (((hug)))

I have got my insomnia well serviced tonight. Had an Amazon delivery - Breaking Dawn part 2 and The Hunger Games on blu-ray. That will make a change from Die Hard (bloody love Die Hard) and Beverly Hills Cop! Last pregnancy I watched Jumping Jack Flash a LOT and I think I've worn the DVD out because it keeps jumping and sticking now Sad

Hope everyone has had a lovely day in the sunshine!

omama · 06/06/2014 21:44

emily I'd been thinking about you & whether you'd found out any more. Sounds like you've really been through it these past couple of weeks, the consultant was really out of order to speak to you like that - I'd be considering putting in a complaint - I'm disgusted on your behalf. I am so so pleased for you that the amnio results came back clear - that must be a huge weight off your mind. If you dont mind me asking, what are the other tests for? Have they offered any more reasdurance about how the exomphalos will be dealt with?

Work situation is hard. Have you been able to tell anyone there yet? Eg a trusted line manager/colleague? I really dont think you should worry about the time off & then going in this week with your news - no one would judge you with what you've been through.

Oh & congratulations on baby being a boy! Will this be your first? I have a ds & he is lovely - a real mummy's boy at the moment too Smile

Been shopping today & kitted myself out with lots of elasticated waist, non-maternity clothes & feeling much more summery now!
14 weeks today!

oohdaddypig · 06/06/2014 21:49

emily your post moved me to tears and you have been incredibly brave and calm. I can't imagine the hell of waiting for the results of the amnio. So delighted the results were good. Hope you get some more good news soon.

Re sciatica - I get it every pregnancy and there is an easy yoga pose called pigeon which really helps...

CatFaceCrayola · 06/06/2014 21:50

DH asks me to check the new bit if his cv, which I do. However I continue reading and point out a possible improvement in a different section (apparently I'm terrible for not just checking tge bit he asked me to)

He's sulked off upstairs and I'm left down here having a silly blubber.

grumble

nickyjlees · 06/06/2014 22:06

emily huge congratulations for your baby boy! Sounds like you have been extremely brave in a horrible situation, so happy for you that your results were good. Hopefully more good news will follow. A little boy... How exciting!

htbftm · 06/06/2014 22:07

Awww Emily, I so feel for what you must have gone through. I hope you can take comfort from your good news and from knowing you are having a lovely little boy!
Pourquoi - I feel for you! xx

miraculous2 · 06/06/2014 22:25

Evening all.

emily it's great to hear from you. Congratulations on your wonderful wee boy.

bighairy glad it wasn't so terrible!

I'd just like to echo ffallada - you lot are keeping me sane. It's amazing to have your support and I just told DH I had this group and he was delighted. I'd hold every one of your hands all the way if I could!

Thank you bettycakes - I really do know I should be seeking proper advice and I will make a point of it eventually. I've been of the "it'll all work out okay" disposition so far (until I have a hormonal meltdown and declare everything a disaster) and also waiting and hoping my own pay and conditions can be improved soon, which I'm trying to hurry along but they do move slowly, these voluntary Boards...

Anyway, I met a twin mum today whose glowing happiness was just so wonderful and I am so utterly delighted this is happening to me. Like every single one of my family said when I told them - I never do anything by halves!

SassehMonsta · 07/06/2014 05:42

miraculous that not doing things by half made me chuckle!

Emily you poor thing, what a horrid and stressful week or two! As I was reading through and read the possibility of Edwards my heart literally broke, but to see it confirmed not be brought so much joy. It's actually made me slightly more wary about my dating scan but going as nothing was picked up at 6 or 9 weeks that it will be ok!

pourqouis that sounds like one of our arguments. This week it's been "don't bug me when my friends are staying over" vs my "I'm pregnant and working and you took a week off to look after me and have barely spoken to me".... men!!!!

Thought I was getting over the sickness part, with 6 days vomit free, but then sick Thursday, Friday at work, and again this morning. Driving 1.5 hours today so leaving an extra half hour for stopping to be sick (as long as its not on the m40!). Really looking forward to today, . Pretty sure I was only sick as I've been up for hours without eating or having my meds (houseguests still sleeping) but not trying too hard to get back to sleep.

Hope everyone's doing ok otherwise xx

PunkyPod · 07/06/2014 07:59

Yay Emily! I've thought about you most days wondering if you had an update. Your test results are fantastic, the relief must be immense. I hope the final results are also good.

My colleague had a son where the scan showed exomphalos (sorry am sure I've spelt that wrong...)and she had the same amnio test. Everything was clear. She was induced at about 38 weeks and gave birth naturally to her son. Within a day he had surgery to have his tummy closed and they were home a few days later. Basically that was it. He is your average 5 year old now.

It's my dd's 2nd birthday today. Time flies. Poor girl is suffering with a fever though. She's been under the weather for4 days now so I'm feeling very sorry for her. We were supposed to go out for a picnic but these predicted storms have meant we're staying indoors. I'm looking out the window however and the torrential rain is not yet here......

ImBrian · 07/06/2014 08:19

Emily congratulations in your baby boy Grin that's fab news that the amnio came back clear. Personally I'd tell people but maybe say that baby could have a problem at birth and need an op. Maybe you would get some support from work?

Sciatica is an absolute cow! I've had it every pregnancy. None with this one yet but I've still not put any weight on so I think that's why though I've really stuffed my face this week so I'm guessing that'll change. I'm normally a stone a trimester so I'm hoping less weight will mean less sciatica/ varicose veins.

monkeybaby2 · 07/06/2014 08:55

Thanks oohdaddypig, here's a vid for anyone who wants to try pigeon pose for sciatic pain. m.youtube.com/watch?v=FVlX5HNKamw

KateJ28 · 07/06/2014 11:43

Congrats Emily - really pleased you're still with us! Was thinking about you and wondering what had happened.

I feel like the size of a house today and I swear my boobs weigh a ton! Happy days... 11 weeks tomorrow though!
