liquid I'm trying to find that massage pdf do you have a link to it by any chance?

liquidstatehasrisenagain · 11/06/2014 21:50

auntie great to hear you are out of hospital. Re: perineal massage the instructions are here:

www.cuh.org.uk/antenatal-perineal-massage

I cant link the kings hospital one for some reason but it is exactly the same as this one!

I am doing it by myself using a vibrator to reach Blush

AuntieMaggie · 12/06/2014 00:26

Thanks liquid. I'll be trying to do the same especially after seeing baby's head measurement being so big!

fifi669 · 12/06/2014 10:21

I told DP that you ladies were doing a perineal massage with your DPs to help with the birth..... He laughed. I said would he do it for me, he was horrified! He said isn't that something really gross? Biology expert he's not. having section so don't need it anyway, just like winding him up

ismarah · 12/06/2014 10:22

Watched OBEM last night as DH was working. Saw the tiny lady having twins with her ginormous husband and she chose to have a section, which they showed. It was interesting, kind of reassuring somehow.

Also saw midwife yesterday for my last community appointment until home visits start and bean was recorded as 3/5s engaged! Explains the melon in my pants feeling. On the way home I swung by a shop and bought DH a birthday present from bean as I might not be in a fit state to do it later - it was so surreal!

Awww fifi it's weird no doubt and awkward but if it helps...

I was thinking of you all last night and reflecting on the ladies I met on the postnatal ward who had different experiences and what I want to say to you (especially those facing options they don't want) is that they were ok and 'happy' even those having had emcs and had babies in nicu. I'm probably not wording this very well but whatever happens on the day you will be ok and you and baby will be well looked after.

ellie you were worried about people not wanting to see you just baby -there was a lady who had her 6th that was in nicu and she told her husband that nobody was going to see her baby without her in nicu and as only one person was allowed with her at a time then they could visit her but probably wouldn't see baby. I'm not sure how much of this was hospital policy though but from what I overheard from another conversation they like mother to visit baby as much as poss so baby is clear who that is and doesn't get confused. Also nobody else was allowed to hold baby.

Afternoon all. Glad you're home auntie and scan results good. DH has taken DS up to his parents for the day though I seem to have overdone things already. Since they've taken the car I got them to drop me at nearby retail park on the way out. I've had a nice wander and sit in a cafe peacefully reading a magazine but also did a spot of shopping- and then I remembered I don't have the car and need to get the bus home and walk 10-15mins across the park to our house. And cos I wandered a bit too long it's now v hot! Oops and oops again! Lots of stops to rest methinks! I'm also too used to having pushchair to hang shopping on and lean on whilst waddling ;)

NancyinCali · 12/06/2014 14:45

Morning all! Today I feel pretty okay with the potential idea of a planned CS if baby doesn't turn. We'll be able to plan childcare, my DM will be here for 4 weeks to help me and I won't tear again! Obviously ideally I do want her to turn but I'm not freaking out as much I thought I would. What will be will be.

I also had a decent nights sleep for a change and looking forward to tackling my to-do list today.

BlueC2 · 12/06/2014 15:03

Nancy I had reached that point re cs with this one being transverse-whilst I was thrilled it had turned I did have a shadow of regret re the planned nature of a cs for sorting stuff out for DS and also realised I'd neglected all the prep needed for my homebirth-cue mad googlieng/seeking MN advice re what I need to get!

So I made it home ok, but the (fast) bus didn't stop where DH had said so I massively overshot the park but was thankfully able to get another bus to bring me to the end of our road-not that a single person offered me a seat on that bus!!

Now tackling the nursery - I WILL finish getting it set up today

ismarah · 12/06/2014 17:13

Bean has been moving & kicking & wriggling relentlessly all day. Funny how something cute and adorable and amazing the first time it happens can become so uncomfortable after months of it. #grumpy

Auntie One of my worst nightmares is waking up alone after an emergency CS with all my DHs family in ICU fussing over the baby. I dont even know if its a boy or girl and DH has already named it a ridiculous name. His family are a bit suffocating and very much into themselves as a family unit so it could happen...

Cotbed is arriving this evening so this weekend will be setting it up and finishing decorating the nursery. Cant wait to have it all finished, although my nursing chair was bought from storage yesterday and its made the nursery a bit of a squish Confused so not sure how it will turn out.

icklekid · 12/06/2014 18:11

ismarah I'm exactly the same fed up of constant big painful kicks! Have over done it at work today-had mix of kids age5-11 all week and they had to make a product and sell it at end of day today. We made £45 profit selling minion phone cases great fun but I am shattered!!!

Glad you're home blue shocking that no one gave you a seat though Sad

nancy glad your happy with either option- fingers crossed for turning though still!

Just made dh Jamie Oliver veggie chilli which is my favourite but can't face eating anything tonight...last NCT tonight hopefully others go on maternity leave soon and can meet up with them pre babies arrival!

AuntieMaggie · 12/06/2014 18:18

liquid if you tell mws/hospital that you don't want that then it won't happen...

BlueC2 · 12/06/2014 19:07

ismarah I have been getting lovingly frustrated with beans activities here-such a wriggler!! Seems to be prodding and poking me most of the time incl at night or even if I'm walking along!

Sooo overdone it today! DH gonna be cross with me when he gets back. I am shattered BUT the nursery now 95% there so I'm almost happy. Shame I still have to sort out all the random stuff I've moved out of there though. Keep having little breaks but probably need to actually stop and rest v soon!

Ooh, text to say DH leaving-right, one more hour to get stuff done!

coco808 · 12/06/2014 19:46

wow, what a productive day blue

glad you are back home auntie

6 more working days ickle Grin Grin

it has been such a lovely day...I really didn't want to be at work. Wish I had a few days at home before the baby to plan, day dream and soak some sun!!! Booked a facial, manicure and pedicure for my first day of maternity leave, which is also the day before the baby arrives!

liquid I'm worrying about DH's family beating me to NICU now...

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy · 12/06/2014 21:11

Good evening!

I went to the hospital yesterday to have a good old cry at my counselling session. Still full of forced VBAC / EMCS / foetal distress again anxiety.

This afternoon I had my first proper indulgent maternity leave moment going for a swim in the pool (water has finally heated up to a temperature that bump doesn't object to) and then sitting out in the sun with a magazine.

Still to do: hospital bags, order new pushchair, get spare room ready for my parents, ensure the cupboards are stocked for she my parents are here since I could be in hospital a few days and sorting and washing the baby clothes (although not sure any clothes will be required by baby once home since it is at least 25deg in the house now all the time and the grow egg thermometer is on its angry red glow permanently).

AuntieMaggie · 12/06/2014 22:14

Ugh. The things we have to do... pelvic floor exercises... perineal massage... spd exercises...

justhayley · 12/06/2014 22:50

Thank you.

Just gone a bit back over the thread,
Gosh Auntie what a crap time your having Hmm Im Hertfordshire based if your anywhere near by I'm happy to help out.

My last post was about me frantically panicking as DP was set to go to Canada for work for most of July and there was a very high chance he wouldn't be home for the birth etc etc.
Got a text from him last night - his dates have now been changed and he's going to Canada this Saturday but only until the end of the month (or so they are saying now). I don't want to get too excited as the Army change things at the drop of a hat, but as of this minute DP will be back In the country for July Grin. Now all I have to hop is that when I do go into labour he makes it home from his base in time!

I had another growth scan yesterday and saw the consultant, baby seems to be growing well - although they didn't estimate a weight. I had a student do it & was used more as a guinypig than anything else. Had a 4D scan last week though and baby was measuring at 4lbs 5. Not sure how accurate those measurements are but I'm glad they are not saying she's extra small anymore - although don't want her getting tooooo big!Confused
Consultant is happy with everything and has said he's more than happy with me to go for a home birth if MW continues to be happy Grin.
Good news is baby has turned around so for now is know longer breech - hope she stays that way.

Have had a crappy week, my hayfever is out of control iv tried locking myself in the house but it actually seems worse inside than out! I'm so uncomfortable and don't need another reason not to be able to sleep. I'm now up about 3/4 times a night to wee.
As much as I love DP he was home for a week last week and I hated it - not all of it lol but sharing a bed with him was horrible, it was too hot and his arms and legs were everywhere, I just don't want to be touched when I'm hot and really noticed the lack of space. Enjoying having my bed back but not enjoying having to cook for myself, and everything else that comes with being a mum on your own.

TMI alert but is anyone "clearing out" this week iv been going to the toilet maybe 3/4/5 times a day - it's driving me crazy. I'm 34 weeks now and DS was born at 35 so wondering if my body is getting ready for labour Blush although I think I'm going to at least 38 weeks this time (basing that in nothing). I posted a thread about it In pregnancy and it seems people have experience of it for weeks before labour happens, I didn't have it with DS so not sure what my body is doing.

Anyway it's getting late I must try and at least sleep - DS and I slept for 3 hours in the afternoon today so I'm quite awake - in fact this is the latest iv been awake for months (apart from when I wake up obviously).

Hope everyone gets some sleep tonight Thanks
Night all xx

osinachi · 12/06/2014 23:52

CongratulationsMrsC
4 more weeks till maternity, I hope I stay awake at work long enough. It's getting embarrassing fighting off the drowsiness. I don't want to stop earlier cos am worried baby might come late and I'll be left kicking my heels at home for too long.
Yet to pack hospital bag, going in 35 weeks but bought a nice nightie and dressing gown from tk maxx. It doesn't button down the front but is ok as is v neck and adjustable straps.

fifi669 · 13/06/2014 00:29

hayley do you mean pooing lots? I am!

Plateofcrumbs · 13/06/2014 02:51

DHs birthday today so had a day off work together. So nice - have pledged that we'll do it again next year (we should have baby established in childcare by then so hopefully won't be too hard to achieve).

I think the baby has changed positions at least twice today, no idea what way up it is now.

hayley seems to be a bit of a 'clear out' happening with me too! - it better not be A Sign as I am no way near ready for this baby to arrive!

icklekid · 13/06/2014 04:11

1 day coco sad Sad times...but exciting that b you will have your gorgeous baby with you soon!

plate great idea to spend birthdays together- do something different/special without baby sometimes! Part of the reason I hope baby doesn't come on my birthday -6th due on the 11th! Wouldn't feel I could leave baby on its birthday but would be a shame not to celebrate mine!

osinachi I'm less sleepy tired (although would never say no to a nap), more exhausted/everything is a huge effort at the moment! 1 week to go!

Final nct was good did lots of little bits like changing/dressing/bathing baby complete with peanut butter nappy! Then all went to pub, was lovely and just hoping others will be keen to meet up post maternity leave/pre baby! Dh even got to watch 2nd half of the football...anyone else a football widow?
