Love that he packed you a cuddly monkey and hope you get some sleep.

This is my second wake up of the night. First time needed the loo. Second time DH leapt out of bed and was legging it out of the bedroom. Asked him where he was going and he said DS was in the field. He quite often has vivid dreams but I am now wondering what would have happened if I let him go?!

I also did a little trip earlier. Didn't fall or anything but did something to my middle toe. It is now agony! Grrrrr!!

NancyinCali · 11/06/2014 04:10

Aw cuddly monkey! Bless him. Hope you're getting some rest and your bp comes down auntie. I have decided to start packing my bag on your advice just in case. If nothing else I'll have underwear, pjs and a toothbrush and toothpaste ready.

icklekid · 11/06/2014 05:28

Oh dear auntie hospitals can be a nightmare for sleep and I imagine post natal full of tiny babies who don't sleep.... Sad

Sorry to see your also awake incapita and nancy I've had very little sleep and feel very sick. Work will be interesting....

NancyinCali · 11/06/2014 05:52

ickle I'm only now going to bed Wink But then it is 9.50pm here. I will be awake in a couple of hours though. And again a few more times after that.
Sorry you've had a bad night, hope work is okay.

icklekid · 11/06/2014 05:56

Sorry nancy I forget you anybody don't live in the UK! Hope you have a good night's rest even if not sleep!

AuntieMaggie · 11/06/2014 06:55

I also have a monkey hat, headphones that double as ear muffins, and a bag full of half empty shampoo miniatures (that I collected working away from home and he grabbed last night as my toiletry bag) and razor blades. On the plus side one pair of the pjs he bought me fits (just) and I have plenty of pants though they're stained ones which is going to be embarrassing later. My fault as I told him what to bring but didn't tell him where to get it as my extended stay bag has most of these things in.

Got a couple of hours sleep here and there - to be fair they've put me in a 3 bed room on my own at the end of the postnatal bit so really quiet but also lonely. The mw has just been in and everything is looking ok but I'll probably be here all day and she just made me cry again by being so nice.

icklekid · 11/06/2014 07:06

Oh no auntie glad she was nice but rubbish you may be in all day. Glad pjs fit, that could have been awkward! Hope dh brings your extended stay bag if you do end up in longer! Although never know when a monkey hat could come in handy!

mixi82 · 11/06/2014 07:46

coco your levels seem very high, sorry nothing seems to be working. Some days the Urso works, other times not at all. Menthol cream doesn't work on my hands and feet either but works well elsewhere. I guess we just have to have our babies and the itchmare will be over!

auntie never thought getting induced could take several days??!! I guess I better get some dresses then for during the day, I don't know if I could stand being in a nightie day and night. I'll have a little potter around the shops today but don't want to spend too much as I won't be wearing them after the birth

AuntieMaggie · 11/06/2014 08:10

Stick a mug and a box of tissues in that emergency bag

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy · 11/06/2014 08:18

Auntie thank you for the advice on the bag preparation (still haven't done any hospital bag for me / baby / short stay / long stay / DS to take to childminder if we have to rush to hospital in an emergency before my parents arrive). Have you got a phone charger if you are going to be there all day? When is your DH leaving for France? I hope you are sat in bed wearing your monkey hat with your cuddly monkey at your side.

MrsC congratulations! Thanks

AuntieMaggie · 11/06/2014 08:26

DP left for France at about 5 am and he's got some relatives going with him so he's not alone but I still feel so bad for not being able to go.

I carry my phone charger with me anyway so yes I have it. If I sat here with the monkey hat on I think they'd be more concerned about me than they are already as I cry every time anyone talks to me.

ismarah · 11/06/2014 09:37

Oh Auntie there's nothing worse than unexpected hospital stays especially when you're on your own. Is anyone from here near to you and could bring you something? Or come visit and cheer you up? I feel very upset for you, as well as your DH, not quite sure how well I'd cope if mine left me like this, even for the reason yours did. I'd probably be all understanding and supportive on the outside and on the inside I'd be irrational and furious. There might be some serious making it up to me to do...

Congrats MrsC brilliant news!

AuntieMaggie · 11/06/2014 09:58

I'm more irrational and furious with myself than dp tbh - if I hadn't gone to mw app yesterday afternoon then I wouldn't be in here causing him more worry. And he is so broken about his mum I can't hold anything against him. I just hope she gets better. I'm hoping to be out later this afternoon and visiting isn't til then anyway. Just want to go home and get into my own bed.

JasmineLondon · 11/06/2014 12:02

Morning auntie just to say best wishes to you in hosp, sounds like you're handling it all really well given the circs. Don't worry about being tearful, most natural thing in world and prob good to shed some tears and release some of the tension. But I do get your point about monkey hat potentially alarming the staff, hehe!

I am at home with migraine, just had whooping cough jab this morning and seeing MW this afternoon. Blooming heat, eh?

mrs congratulations on arrival of your little one!

JasmineLondon · 11/06/2014 12:06

Cheers ellie for kind offer of advice about ventricles and sorry to hear you had this with DS4 ... Have not heard anything more after scan so am hoping consultant judged it was ok, but will message you if I hear otherwise Thanks ... Also got what you mean about people wanting to see baby rather than visit and enquire after how you are doing ...

Plateofcrumbs · 11/06/2014 12:46

Hope you're out of the hospital soon Auntie, so very frustrating that it coincided with your DH having to go away. Glad he has got some other relatives with him, just hope there might be a positive outcome for his mum.

Forget tiaras, are monkey hats the way forward for birthing headgear?

I'm currently trying to work out which way up my baby is - it's been having hiccups this morning which I'm very distinctly feeling on the lower right hand side (about 3 inches across and 2 inches down from my belly button). And I'm getting the biggest kicks towards the top of my bump. Please tell me this sounds like a head-down baby!

I think it has dropped a bit lower in the last few days as well, but a bit worried that I'm starting to get a bit of pain in my side where the cysts/endo problem is (which still have potential to totally screw up the birth, so just keeping everything crossed that doesn't happen).

museumworker · 11/06/2014 13:19

auntie - wishing you well

mrsb - congrats on first july baby!

My random blood and urine tests have come back as normal so feeling more optimistic. Surely there would be increased readings if I had gestational diabetes? DS in nursery today so have first full day to myself - am taking it very easy! Next scan on Friday.

BlueC2 · 11/06/2014 14:42

auntie well done-you're doing so well under tough circumstances- and loving the monkey hat :)

museum glad test results looking ok-enjoy your day of peace and rest!

plate yes sounds like head down! DS used to wedge his feet under my ribs and kick them when he was head down Hmm

Feeling almost human today after my best nights sleep in weeks! Though may have pushed myself a bit too much taking DS to toddler world soft play and then pushing the pushchair around town afterwards! Bump having a good wriggle around today and even went back-to-back for a bit as I had limbs trying to exit through my tummy button :)

Friends dropping off the sofa bed we're buying off them in a short while (hope it fits!) and we have sold our futon. So a few more of the pieces slotting into place! Tomorrow DH taking DS to his parents for the day so I will try and get all the junk finally cleared from the nursery! Had a vivid dream last night that my waters went tomorrow and I had to call DH to come back quickly (PIL an hour away!).

AuntieMaggie · 11/06/2014 15:11

Said monkey hat

I'm going home! Baby measuring 7lbs (good job I never bought those small baby clothes!) and back to see consultant at 38 weeks. They're expecting to see me back though for a few overnighters in between so my mission is to prove them wrong (and make sure I have a bag packed just in case!)

Thank you for your wishes ladies.

AuntieMaggie · 11/06/2014 15:24

Other things I've found really useful... my own towel, pillow, snacks (especially if you don't like the choice of food on the menu), change for vending machine... fruit...

Plateofcrumbs · 11/06/2014 16:46

yay homeward bound auntie (and I note you can get a baby-sized version of the monkey hat...)

blue I do hope it's head down although I swear it was doing similar before my last scan when they told me it was breech Confused

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 11/06/2014 17:46

Glad you're heading home auntie!

The first person in my NCT class has gone into labour. It all seems very real all of a sudden. I'd better actually get on and pack my hospital bag...

NancyinCali · 11/06/2014 17:51

Little monkey has turned breech. I have exercises to do and the midwife has recommended a chiropractor and acupuncturist to see.

icklekid · 11/06/2014 18:02

Yay for going home auntie hope you prove them all wrong and don't have to go in pre labour!

nancy sorry to hear your breach- my nct lady said her first turned the day she went into labour very frustrating, at least you have time to hopefulhopefully turn back round!

plate sounds like kicks I get and mw always been happy head down etc.

Got some good news- had missed breastfeeding session of nct and midwife recommended I ring midwives as they were running breastfeeding session on Friday. Rang and they were full, wouldn't even put me on waiting list however they rang today saying did have space and managed to sort out leaving work early so looking forward to that!

MrsA2 · 11/06/2014 20:39

Great to hear you're heading home Auntie!

Two more days at work left, phew - I'm exhausted.
