Thank you all for your kind messages! Dd was born on Saturday at 11.09pm, 5lbs12, and doing brilliantly we got home on Sunday massive relief and just trying to catch my breath to how quickly this has all happened!

Plateofcrumbs · 10/06/2014 13:25

mrsC that is wonderful, congratulations!!! Our first 'July' baby! So glad you are doing well and are safely back home!

auntie oh that is rough, I hope for all your sakes DH is back soon. If you are seriously worried about him not being back, do you have any other possible birth partners, or could you consider a doola? I know that's not the point but that last thing you want on top of everything else is worrying about not having someone with you for the birth.

AuntieMaggie · 10/06/2014 13:34

Thanks ladies. DP is an only child and it's not going to be a quick recovery if she survives. Which instinct tells me is a big if without looking at Google. Nobody I'd want to come stay and we don't have room unless they sleep with me. I feel bad for not going with him and hate him travelling that far on his own in the circumstances. I'm 36+3 tomorrow so if they want to induce me at 37 weeks (which has been hinted at) DP may not be back... I'm trying not to think like that...

AuntieMaggie · 10/06/2014 13:35

Congratulations mrsc

elliejjtiny · 10/06/2014 13:42

congratulations mrsc.

BlueC2 · 10/06/2014 13:58

Huge congrats mrsc :)

auntie you and your DP must both be feeling torn in two at the moment! both wanting to help support the other but both with limiting circumstances which make that almost impossible. Do you have any family living close by? Or could your DM (if you wanted her that is) come to stay or arrange to stay in a local b&b or similar if she can't fit in with you around the time when you might be giving birth? I know this is all literally the last thing you need right now, it's not as if the past few weeks have been exactly plain sailing for you...so v sorry you have all this to deal with as well. As hard as it is though you do need to try and be a little bit selfish and get some stuff set up for you (and baby) in terms of help etc given the likelihood that DP will be away for a while.

AuntieMaggie · 10/06/2014 14:35

My family are close by but I'm not particularly close to them and funnily enough they're off on holiday this weekend so if I am induced at 37/38 weeks they won't be here...

Talking about being induced there were a couple of ladies on the ward on Sun who'd been in for a while and we're talking about how many pairs of pjs they'd got through so I thought just incase I'm going to put aside a couple of my maxi dresses and a pair of jogging bottoms and vests for an unexpected pre - birth stay.

fifi669 · 10/06/2014 15:55

Well done mrsc ! How was the birth?

auntie that sounds rubbish. Sod's law is alive and well for you.

NancyinCali · 10/06/2014 16:55

Congrats mrsc!!

So sorry auntie. I can't imagine what you're both going through.

If you can afford a doula it might be a good option for you. Someone consistent to be with you and help you throughout labour and afterwards. Mine does 2 pre-birth meetings, supports us at home in early labour, comes to hospital and stays with us throughout, helps with breastfeeding etc afterwards, takes photos (a small thing maybe but we love our photos from dd1) and visits once at home post-natally (I don't have anyone else visit at home in the USA, have to go to the midwife office and pediatrician for checkups).

Another terrible night's sleep. Trying to summon the energy to tackle my to-do list and go to yoga later. Also thinking of squeezing in a solo cinema trip this afternoon. That may all be a tad ambitious.

liquidstatehasrisenagain · 10/06/2014 17:15

baby has turned! Weirdly turned by itself whilst they were monitoring the heart. The midwife felt the bump and then put the straps on to monitor the rate for half an hour by the time the scanner was set up and the doctors had read my notes the baby had turned.

Am booked in for induction on 4th July so now just have to hope it arrives before then!

Congrats MrsC.

Am so sorry to hear there is little support for you Auntie it will be tough but you'll make it through.

icklekid · 10/06/2014 17:28

Thinking of you auntie very tricky situation!

Congratulations mrsc hopefully when you have some normality you can tell us all about birth and how everything is going Thanks for now

Yay for turning baby liquid here's hoping for another arrival soon, but not too soon!

BlueC2 · 10/06/2014 18:04

Woohoo for baby turning liquid it obviously knew it was about to be messed with and thought it had better get on with it ;)

Ipsumlorem · 10/06/2014 18:40

Congrats mrsc! Grin

Big unmumsnetty hugs to auntie. Its such a crappy situation to be in Sad I really feel for both you and your oh.

Yay for liquid and your turning baby Smile

I am off for a lie down while I wait for dinner to cook - have well and truly wrecked myself today washing baby clothes, taking a big long walk with my mum and then deciding it was a great idea to hoover out the car! Pelvis feels like it should have a squeak and needs oiled it is soooo stiff now Sad Oh well - hot water bottle time if I can take the heat!

MrsA2 · 10/06/2014 19:14

Auntie, how awful, I really feel for you both. The suggestion of a doula does sound good as a back up. Really hope things are less serious than they sound.

MrsC, congratulations - hooray and welcome to our first July baby! That's great that you were home so quickly.

Brilliant news about your baby turning on its own too Liquid

Incapinka · 10/06/2014 19:25

Congrats MrsC! Can't wait to hear all about it!

So sorry auntie for the crappy timing and for your poor DH too. And obviously for your MIL.Thanks

Am shattered today. Been relatively busy but nowhere near what I used to do and achieve in a day. Can't imagine what it must be like to have a full nights sleep and energy.

KitKatChick · 10/06/2014 20:11

Congratulations MrsC! Hope you're enjoying lots of baby cuddles.

Really feel for you Auntie, let's hope you don't need to be induced quite so soon and DP will have time to get back.

My troubles seem quite insignificant but DH is driving me nuts at the moment. Not sure if it is my lack of patience or his lack of support but I feel I could murder him right now. Might go for a walk while he gets back home for what should have been 7:30....rant over.

mixi82 · 10/06/2014 20:47

Congrats mrsc!!! Glad all is well.

Good thought about packing extra pjs auntie as getting induced may take a while. Actually, I don't really know, if you are induced how long dies it take etc? Perhaps I should read up on it!

coco808 · 10/06/2014 21:09

Huge congrats MrsC!!!

ohhh auntie I'm so sory to hear that...what a pickle!! Sorry I have no other helpful suggestions, except for may be a doula like others have suggested. I'm not far from you and would have offered any help but think I would have had my C ection by then and unable to drive!

thanks blue the itching is incredibly annoying in this lovely weather. Been impossible to sleep with it since March/April!!! Your twitchy legs sound equally bad though..

mixi my bile salts we 86 yesterday (meant to be 14 I think). I also have jaundice with the OC. My obstetrician friends and the consultant decided that urso would not help me much and will be a bit pointless so I am not taking it. My ALT and some other enzymes were seriously raised too and I am not absorbing any fat or protein. Your radiator situation sounds terrib;e! I couldn't cope! could you keep some cool damp flannels by the bed side? They seem to help me. I tried the menthol ointment given by the consultant but it seemed to make it worse so I discontinued using it.

plate hope you manage to sort out your maternity pay. Hopefully they will back track and sort all the payments so it doesn't affect your tax and pension.

8 more working days to go...yyaayyyy Grin Grin

Fox28 · 10/06/2014 21:22

Congratulations MrsC!!

mtpg · 10/06/2014 21:43

Congratulations MrsC :)

AuntieMaggie · 10/06/2014 21:44

mixi I know women who have taken days after being induced that's why I thought maxi dresses rather than sitting around in pjs all day.

Thank you for your kind wishes. Staying overnight in hospital as today has tipped bp over the edge...

AuntieMaggie · 10/06/2014 23:10

On my own now - dp has gone and they've put me in my own room on the postnatal side as the antenatal side was full. I would encourage you all to put a few things in a bag ready to grab incase you end up in hospital after the things that have popped up in the bag dp packed for me tonight... including a cuddly monkey! Though it did make me smile.

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 10/06/2014 23:58

Just wanted to say thinking of you and your family Auntie. Hope the overnight hospital stay not too bad.

(Congrats to MrsC as well)

icklekid · 11/06/2014 02:13

Hope you manage to get some sleep auntie and that bp is lower in the morning.

So after awesome night sleep last night I'm hot, itchy, restless, baby active, hungry, fed up and it's 2am! Sad and I finished my secret stash of chocolate biscuits yesterday so even if I had the energy to sneak downstairs not worth the effort!

Yay for 8 working days to go coco me too! Although right now wish was going on Friday! Never mind...

AuntieMaggie · 11/06/2014 02:57

Wide awake. Have had about an hours sleep.

I said I didn't want a tour of the ward where I would go and that's where I've ended up... The irony.
