Love the names everyone.

Lolly that's interesting that you're having the same symptoms as your sister. By your logic I'm probably having a boy because mine and my sisters symptoms are nothing alike. She didn't get hardly any nausea, didn't put on much weight, slept really well, skin was really good and she managed to eat plenty of healthy food! I'm fat, spotty, knackered and constantly eating crap. Although when I write that I wonder if there is some kind of direct correlation between the diet and the symptoms?!

Laughed at the whale comment mrsb. I feel like that already!

Did anyone find that the stretching pains started early on? I've been having them quite a lot over the last few days. It's worse at night when I'm really bloated and I just don't feel like there is any more room in my stomach. It's all so glamorous isn't it!!

Ladymillion · 24/06/2014 11:13

20 weeks today! And shitting myself about the anomaly scan which is on Monday Shock

We like the name Lenny but we need a few back-up names so going to continue to search for our faves!

I'm patiently waiting for this pregnancy 'glow'! Right now I feel nauseous, weak and fatigued and my spots have returned with a vengeance! I'd like to crawl under a rock and hibernate for the next 20 weeks please haha

On a serious note I've probably caused these feelings myself by eating such crap, like u Helen! Wink

Oh I think I've felt little flutters since last week but the movements are so brief and so soft that I doubt myself every time! Looking forward to when there's no mistaking the kicks Smile

misskgb · 24/06/2014 12:43

Me too Lady, although I'm sure when they're kicking the c**p out of us we'll be wanting to come back to this point!

I got asked if I was carrying twins on Sunday- that's how much of a whale I am!!

Suffering in this heat- it never usually gets to me but I'm restless and not sleeping much. Irritating myself, never mind DH! I think I've come out with hayfever too. Don't fancy my chances of paracetamol helping with this one, it's the headaches that are the killer!

Scan on Thursday and can't wait. DH is excited too which is nice. Picked our cot up yesterday so got to try and convince DH to let me put it up!! I'm sure we'll start talking names more after the scan, right now we have a list of about 15 boys and 15 girls!

Lolly84 · 24/06/2014 13:00

Well that's me back and a tad emotional. Really don't like saying goodbye to my sis, even harder saying by now. I am sure my hormones aren't helping. Could literally cry all day.

Mrsb and lady million- lovely names. I defo think boys names are harder than girls. Going to get a proper shortlist together after scan.

Lady- I am a tad scared about the scan. Sister let me use her Doppler which has settled me a bit as heard heartbeat but like you will be hoping everything is ok. Mines is 2 weeks on Friday and then off on hol for 2 weeks so on a real countdown at mo for both.

Misskgb sounds like you are suffering a lot. I was suffering last week with headaches but they come and go now. Not good. Hope you are resting up as much as you can. All the best for your scan.

Helen - defo the stretching pains are very normal early on and continue. Almost like a pre-period cramp mines felt like. I think at night you feel them most as you are most likely to be sitting still. Are you going to find out what you are having? X

mrsb87 · 24/06/2014 16:13

Glamorous this is not. I have been belching all day Hmm and baby has definitely found my bladder! Little bugger.
I got a lot of stretching pains all the way through, I agree they were like period pains, not very comfortable!
The heat is an killer! Really struggling with it especially at work. It's making me very sleepy, trouble is I haven't been sleeping well at all and I'm shattered

binkybunny · 25/06/2014 07:25

Lovely names everyone!

V whale like here too and feel like I'm going to burst! I've had cramps and stretching all the way through. I find I'll have a day or two of really tight stretchy feeling then I'll go softer and my bump has grown a bit more.

We're at the kicking stage now. Its lovely feeling her move but am v sore and tired as it seems to go on from early evening and right through the night. I often get a good early morning kick too to make sure I'm awake!

chillychicken · 25/06/2014 08:48

Morning! 16+3 today. Starting to get a little bump and I can no longer wear my pre-pregnancy trousers. I bought a few bits in the next size up which will hopefully do me for a few weeks!

Felt a little flutter last week which was weird but nice! Nothing since though. Midwife appointment tomorrow afternoon and should hopefully hear the heartbeat. Cannot wait!

My diet has significantly improved. I’ve stopped craving biscuits and ice cream in favour of Granny Smith apples. I’ve got three with me at work today. Finding myself very thirsty a lot of the time as well. I seem unable to drink enough to get the thirst to go away. I’m snacking less though and I’m no longer suffering from nausea which is fab. Appetite has definitely shrunk though. If I have a decent sized lunch, I cannot eat much dinner.

Tried some alcohol free wine on Sunday. It was ok but it’s definitely a wine to drink just when its hot and sunny!

Oh! I’ve had bump feelers already. My Nan and my Aunt both thought it was acceptable to touch my bump before even saying hello to me. The stupid thing is, bump at the moment is mainly fat! It’s reasonably embarrassing but the actually pregnancy bump is tiny compared to the bump above which is mainly made out of biscuits!!

h I had stretching pains from about 5 weeks and I’m still getting them now, along with an itch. I’ve got to speak to the midwife about that actually – I’ve had an itch on my lower back, same spot, for 2 weeks now and it just will not go.

I’m struggling to sleep as I keep wanting to lay sort of on my front and I’m worried about that. Also the heat is making it near on impossible to get a decent nights sleep at the moment.

Sooooo taking that into consideration, why have I just booked a holiday to Spain?! I know the hotel we’re staying in and the aircon is rubbish. It wouldn’t bother me to leave the balcony doors open but last time I did that, I ended up covered in mosquito bites. I’m also willing the temperature to drop out there…they recorded 40 degrees the other day.

Right, I need to crack on with work. Will sneak on later to read some of your updates.

binkybunny · 25/06/2014 09:34

Chilly great you're feeling better its such a relief isnt it?

I wouldnt worry about lying on your front. Just enjoy it while you can! I keep waking on my back feeling like I'm suffocating but lying on my side hurts my lower back and hips. I have a v shaped pillow but its just too warm to have that and DH in bed. It was bliss last week when DH was away. Wish we hadnt got rid of the spare bed now!

I'm just sat waiting for my 24 week midwife appointment and think the baby must be excited, she seems to be doing backflips in there!

misskgb · 25/06/2014 10:51

So little Rice Krispie decided to play last night and although none of the feelings were definite kicks, it was sure as hell having a party in there from about 8pm right through to bed time. I feel the odd flutter during the day too and it's amazing! I was one smiley mummy to be last night!

I struggled to sleep at the weekend (hence my 2 hour nap on Saturday!) but was ok last night as it was a bit cooler. I'm very fidgety though and driving DH mad, but I've told him he needs to just deal with it! I find myself lying on my front (well, almost recover position like, that's the closest i can get) and often on my back too. Depends what day and what time of day as to which position is most comfortable so I just go with it!

Hoping I get to hear the heartbeat at 25 week mw appt as not been offered yet. One more sleep for the scan :-)

Chilly- I keep running away from the MIL as I'm worried she's going to feel me up, but I'm a bit more relaxed with some other people for some reason. It's funny how because bump is out there people think it's an open invitation. Errrr no...STEP AWAY FROM THE BUMP!!! hehe

mrshjb · 26/06/2014 08:53

Morning everyone :)

Good luck today with your scan misskgb, hope you manage to find out what you're having! How exciting that you're feeling movements now, sure it won't be long before they're kicking the hell out of you! Haha all my RL friends say people all of a sudden think that's appropriate to touch you up and comment on your sex life. Something to look forward to for me....!!

Lolly sounds like it was hard to leave your sister and niece. Have you got plans to see them again soon? Do you opk now when you can start to hear the heartbeat on the Doppler? There's part of me that really wants to get one to reassure myself later down the line, but then also I don't want to start panicking if I do it too soon and can't hear anything! Yeah I'll definitely find out what I'm having. I'd be like binky and pay if I couldn't find out. I'm intending to have a 4d scan at some point anyways so that should tie in. I definitely think each to their own, but for me being able to say my son or daughter (wow I've never said or thought that before, it's always been the baby....) will help me to bond and kind of picture having them if that makes any sense?!

Chilly nice to hear from you and glad you're doing well. I'm very jealous that you're still in prepregnancy clothes. I haven't been able to fit in mine for weeks now. My bloating is horrendous. My Mum said the scan will be a relief to see that I'm definitely only having one!! I'm adamant it's all bloat and not baby though because very first thing in a morning before I've eaten it's not too bad! It's nice to hear that the feeling crap gets easier and you can actually manage to eat some healthy food. I can't wait for that day!! Haha sounds like crazy logic in booking the holiday. But everyone says you should make the most of time before you have a kid and can't do anything the same again, so why not!! Think we're just going to go in England though. I'm not brave enough to face the heat!!

How did the midwife appointment go binky? Have you bought more little girls stuff now?

Lady good luck for the scan on Monday. Have you had more private scans recently or was the gender one your last one?

Less than 2 weeks until my scan now. Can't wait but sooooo scared. Been reading a few other threads every now and then and I feel really lucky to be getting my scan so soon. People who are due around the time I think I am due are waiting until towards the end of July. Suppose the had to be some perks of having longer cycles! I'm guessing our hospital is less busy than bigger city hospitals too because I'm having it on the day when they think I'm 12 weeks where as some people don't seem to be able to get in until the end of their 12th week. Slightly concerned they'll say it's too early to be able to guarantee anything, but I think I'll be at least 11 weeks then so hopefully it should be ok?!

Anyways best get on with the day. Take care ladies :) xx

misskgb · 26/06/2014 19:58

Hey hey hey. So rice krispie is doing well. They couldn't measure the tummy & heart so got to go for another scan next week (hehe :-)) nothing to worry about, just couldn't get the right measurements n coz I was last appt of the day I couldn't do the usual 'walk around for 30 mins' thing

Got 3 pix for free as the machine to buy them from was broken (again, hehehe)

So the bit you're all waiting for........it's a girl! Completely surprised by that. Just been to buy some girly bits to make it real. Glad I've found out now as gives me plenty of time to get used to the idea of having a girl!!

Lolly84 · 26/06/2014 22:42

H- think its from 14 weeks but a lot of people can't find it. I have luckily found it easy. The midwife doesn't guarantee that she can let you hear at 16 weeks.

Misskgb- massive congrats on both a healthy scan and baby girl news. Fantastic. Xx

Lolly84 · 26/06/2014 22:43

Oh and Chilly we are going to Spain in 2 weeks, don't know how I. Going to handle the heat either. X

mrshjb · 27/06/2014 06:54

Misskgb congratulations on the girl, free pictures and the free scan!!! Have you got a name shortlist now?

Lolly ah right. A while to wait for me then!

OP posts:
chillychicken · 27/06/2014 08:16

Misskgb eeeep! A Girl! So lovely!

H I'm only in pre pregnancy clothes now if all buttons are undone and I'm wearing a bump band! A few dresses still fit but not many. I can do buttons up if I'm walking or stood up but the minute I sit down, it all gets too uncomfy! Grin I was really bloated to start with - and some days now I'm still uncomfy with it. I'll try to find the photo I took at 14 weeks - I look massive but it's all bloat! Can't believe it's less than 2 weeks until your scan! This first bit goes so slowly as you're just waiting to see baby but after the scan, I find it does tend to speed up a bit. I'm nearly 17 weeks now! Seems unbelievable!

binky it's a massive relief, still tired but each day my energy is increasing which is fab! How did your midwife appt go?

Lolly where in Spain are you going? I'm sure we'll manage to cope with the heat somehow! Grin

So I heard the heartbeat last night which was lovely. Student midwife found it straight away and it sounded like a train Grin then baby decided to go for a swim so I was treated to some swooshing noises for a bit.

Unfortunately I also found out that I'm now under consultant care which, unless I'm discharged beforehand, throws my birth plan out the window. Midwife has no idea why I'm under consultant care but it is probably because my mum had a stroke aged 45 and has diabetes (type 2). DH reckons I'll be discharged quickly but I'm seeing the birthing pool and private room on a lovely MLU as suddenly out of reach. Whatever the reason, they're obviously not overly worried as my first consultant appointment isn't until I'm 27 weeks.

chillychicken · 27/06/2014 09:20

Here we go! 13+4 "bump"

The 'Umm newbie'/ 'Thread maxed out' lovely ladies!
misskgb · 27/06/2014 10:01

ahhh chilly- such a tidy little bump!!! :-)

No H- we went back to the list we'd drawn up from the baby book and went down it crossing most of them off. Now that we know the name we pick is for OUR baby girl, we didn't like a lot of them! There's a couple still there but we've got plenty of time to cross off and add to it!

Next scan Friday afternoon next week.

chillychicken · 27/06/2014 10:13

I'll take a pic of bump this weekend - it's much smaller now! So funny how the bloating makes you look so big! Grin

Baby names are stressing me out. DH and I have agreed on one name for a boy but neither of us are in love with it and girls names? We have one name we both like and keep coming back to but we cannot agree on the spelling. He's also using a boys name I hate to refer to bump as he thinks by the time baby arrives I'd have fallen in love with it Hmm He knows me, he knows how stubborn I am, I am not using that name.

Although I have just remember a girls name I love - I'm just not sure I love it enough for it to be our daughters name. Does that make sense? I feel it's such a huge responsibility to name a person. Still, plenty of time to sort this out!

binkybunny · 27/06/2014 11:27

Congrats Misdkjb, there seems to be a bit of a girl explosion coming towards the end of this year! I was totally adamant no pink for our girl, but I've ended up buying more pink than anyone else Blush

MW appointment went well. Heard her heartbeat which was lovely and my blood pressure has actually dropped so is perfect. V surprising as work and lack of sleep as made me feel so stressed!

H we have bought so much girl stuff. Really hoping that scan was right!

Lolly84 · 27/06/2014 19:10

18 weeks today whoop whoop, 2 weeks tils scan and hol. Can't wait!

Chilly we are staying in a hotel in between torremelinos and benalmadena. Adults only hotel for the last time ever hehe. It's a delayed honeymoon. We will be there for our first anniversary. Your bump looks fab. I don't have much of a bump I don't think. I usually wear stretchy clothes like leggings and dresses so not had to change clothes as yet. Even tried maternity clothes on in new look and they looked ridiculous. Going to have to go holiday clothes shopping just before my hols to see what kind of bump I will have then.

H it will fly! you see the heartbeat at 12 week scan so all good.

binky out of 8 people I know who have had children recently only 1 has been a boy. Crazy eh? Think my DH will be slightly disappointed if it's a girl as he has plans of dressing the baby like a blooming superhero. Oh help me haha x

chillychicken · 28/06/2014 12:15

Ooh Lolly we're going to Benalmadena! We'll probably be out there around the same time! lol

Wishing we'd gone for an adults only hotel if I'm honest but we know the hotel we're staying in - it's cheap, right near the marina and it's clean. We don't spend much time there anyway as we tend to walk along the beach all day every day!

I wish bump looked like that every day but nope, when I'm not bloated, there is no bump! I definitely have proper hardening now though so I don't think it'll be long before bump properly appears!

weebairn · 28/06/2014 17:41

Hello ladies - I've missed you all!!

Busy few weeks - will be so glad when my awful exam is out the way. I had a bit of a crash at work - I was covering 4 wards on my own and finishing hours late without a break - I went to my GP and cried and he signed me off work for a week - I feel very guilty. So tired though.

Toddler has had chickenpox… her poor spotty face! Boyfriend is being amazing and doing 90% of the childcare and any nighttime problems so I can work study and rest. He deserves a medal!!

I am nearly 27 weeks and I feel so huge and slow and breathless already ARRGH. I don't think I look that massive but i just feel SQUASHED. Doesn't help I am so constipated! I am not a big person and there isn't space for all that poo and baby Grin

I need to catch up with you all!!

Here is a picture of my 27 week bump!!

The 'Umm newbie'/ 'Thread maxed out' lovely ladies!
mrshjb · 29/06/2014 12:16

Morning, everyone! So much to reply to!!

Chilly bump looks lovely, regardless of whether it's a baby or a bloat bump! I can't wait to be able to wear things that don't hide it! Where did you get your bump band from? I didn't think about looking for one of those, but I'm a bit loathed to give up my old jeans just yet!

I know what you all mean about the name problem, I thought I knew which names I liked, but as you say when you start thinking about calling your child that for the rest of their lives it changes a bit doesn't it!! Definitely can't see you deciding you really like a name you initially don't like at all though chilly!!!

Binky glad to hear your midwife appointment went well. Laughed about buying all the pink! Little girls clothes are really cute aren't they!

Lolly can't believe your 18 weeks already, I can see that time is really flying for you lot!! Haha a superhero?! Bloody men eh! My dh is adamant our baby will have his football team's babygrow regardless of their sex. I'm not too sure at all!!

misskgb exciting to have another scan so soon! Is the 20 week scan the last one you have unless there is any cause for concern?

Really strange thought that Lolly and Chilly might be sat in the same restaurant in a few weeks!! You should both keep your eyes out for other pregnant women and report back when you get home!! Don't suppose you can start approaching random pregnant women though!!!

Ah weebairn glad to hear from you, I was getting a bit worried you'd not checked in in a while. Bump looks lovely, very neat and tidy! Doesn't sound good at work though, definitely you did the right thing going and having a break for a week. Yours and baby's health is much more important than work. Not good about the poo overload! I am the other way round at the minute. It's not pretty at all!!

I'm doing ok, had a mini meltdown this morning because I've had a cold all week and DH has been ill too so we've not slept much despite him being on the couch. Last night he slept in the same bed and woke me up 6 times snoring like crazy. I kept waking him up to stop him from snoring so basically we both had a rubbish sleep. Then we had to clean the house etc this morning because MIL is due later and it's cleaning day anyways and I was just so tired I started crying!! It wasn't one of my finer moments, but I am finding it really hard not to be able to do anything at my usual pace without getting absolutely knackered. Then I feel like a right cow for moaning about being pregnant when I want this baby so much. Ah I need a slap!!! 9+4 today, can't wait until Wednesday and then it will be less than a week to my scan :)

Hope you have a lovely Sunday everyone xx

OP posts:
misskgb · 29/06/2014 18:24

Don't worry H- I had a complete melt down over beans on toast one day. I've never cried so much in my life! Yup, just the 12 & 20 week scans unless there's a reason for an extra one

We've bought loads over the last few days. She's been properly spoilt! I'm sure we'll have her in a football kit soon enough :-)

You can get those bands from most places who sell maternity wear. I saw one on Tesco website the other day!

Lolly84 · 29/06/2014 20:41

Lovely to hear from you weebairn you are looking great.

Ok prams ladies... Any of you bought one or done any good research. I live in a 3rd floor apt and looking for something light. Icandy seems to be a good option but with a high price tag. Was thinking of poss going second hand as you can get some in great condition on preloved and ebay. X
