hi folks - thought we should have a new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BrandSnob · 14/05/2014 21:35

Is anyone else having issues with their pelvic floor exercises? I'm doing something, but I'm not sure it's right. I feel like I'm clenching my bum at the same time. I'm now scared of the consequences of not doing them ever since I had a trickle when I sneezed a few weeks back.. Sorry for the TMI

amy83firsttimer · 14/05/2014 21:53

Apparently there's an NHS app available that I think is called "squeeze" but I'm not sure. It shows you how to do them properly. I don't have it but probably should after a few incidents while coughing during my recent cold.

Annarose2014 · 14/05/2014 22:02

Welcome Twizzy!

Am I the only one who's had horrible growing pains under the belly? Confused

SapphireFrenzy · 14/05/2014 22:10

Ligament pains?

BrandSnob · 14/05/2014 22:19

Thanks amy83. I found it in iTunes, it's called Squeezy. Trust it to not be a free one at a 'whopping' £2.99. There's a few others I might try out, depending on the reviews. I suppose there is an app for everything nowadays!

You sound loads better Posy. Hopefully, you'll be home soon.

PosyFossilsShoes · 14/05/2014 22:25

I am home!! Home and very relieved to have some amazing anti-nausea pills that work.

I am still v worried about whether this has hurt the baby. I asked the hospital that and got "Is this your first" with a knowing look which has in retrospect pissed me off a bit. I'm sure I am being utterly PFB about this and if it were my third I'd be hyper-emesing at the bus stop while changing nappies with one hand and teaching a child to ride a bicycle with the other, but it's not, and I'm worried. So I'm going to phone the midwife tomorrow and check.

PosyFossilsShoes · 14/05/2014 22:25

I should add that that wasn't from the nurses, who were WONDERFUL, it was from the (male) gynae doctor who I saw for approximately 10 seconds.

Petal26 · 14/05/2014 22:34

Glad you're feeling better Posy.

I had a return of sickness this morning, have been alright for a while, seem to be worse on work days, must be related!

Trying to get DD to go to sleep by herself in preparation for later on in the year. Normally needs us sat next to her for up to an hour(or more)! She wound herself up last night and was sick everywhere :-( and then tonight fell straight asleep. Who knows what we'll get tomorrow. Difficult trying to change routines when I'm so tired by that time of day myself.

I've been at school all day and just finished my work on the computer, can I go to sleep now? Please? :-)

amy83firsttimer · 14/05/2014 22:52

Did they scan you posy ?

PosyFossilsShoes · 14/05/2014 22:55

No. I was told I would be, but it turned out they didn't feel the need because they would only be looking for a molar pregnancy and I've already had a 12 week scan so we know it's not one of those.

I know that with resources as they are this is probably sensible but I wanted the reassurance of seeing it wriggle so I could be sure that it's ok. DP is suggesting we book in for a private scan just to set our minds at rest so we may do that.

Annarose2014 · 14/05/2014 23:38

Ligament Pain! Thank you Sapphire I didn't know it had a name!

I suspected it was normal but still it was a motherflipper. I've had it over the last week, for hours at a time. Much worse when twisting or stretching.

Google now tells me to avoid those movements and lie down to ease it. As I'm doing nursing I give a hearty hollow laugh to that one! Hmm

Polkadotscarf · 15/05/2014 07:08

Yes to the heart burn bunnykitten! Ugh, tis awful, never had it before and not enjoying it! I did huge amounts of googling on it and it seems gaviscon is safe to take so off to buy some today. Still being sick every morning and afternoon so heartburn in the evening is not welcome here!

posy it's good to hear you're on the mend Smile

Northernexile · 15/05/2014 07:22

Posy I would have asked the same question and I'm on my second. You are definitely not being PFB, and some Doctors can be arrogant shits with zero empathy! If it would put your mind at rest have the scan, especially if you are still quite a way from your 20 week one. Glad you are feeling better though.

Weeonion- sounds like your DD is going to have a lovely holiday with the GPs!

And hello Twizzy!

pinkgirlythoughts · 15/05/2014 07:41

Marking place on the thread before I dash off to work. touch wood haven't felt too sick the last couple of days, and finally seem to be getting a little bit more energy back in the evenings now (thank God!)

Spannertime · 15/05/2014 08:01

Soooooo my nipples are bigger than Brazil. That happened overnight.

BrandSnob · 15/05/2014 08:03

Morning Ladies

14+0 today. Heres hoping the misery is over and I can finally start to enjoy things.

Lol@ Spanner

Thisisimpossible · 15/05/2014 08:20

Sorry for the late post, I didn't manage to get back on the laptop last night.

Moggle, Posy, Annarose, utopian, weeonion, Alita, Tigsy, Sleepy, hopeful and ladydolly I think that's all of you, huge apologies if I've missed anyone - thank you so much for sharing your experiences - I feel much better that I'm not alone. This thread has been a bit of a lifesaver at times when I've been terrified and worried about stuff - just seeing that I'm not the only one and that it's all normal is so reassuring. So thanks, ladies. Much appreciated.

This body change stuff really is a lesson in pushing back against the media. You'd think at 39 I would have got over all this and I thought I had...but clearly not. The wolf of insecurity is never far away. I am encouraged that the bump will sort everything out, and hopefully not too far in the future as some of you at 15 weeks seem to be getting sorted (only a week to go - yay!). Roll on the bump and the horrific bloat recession.

posy the stuff about the 4 year olds was horrifying. How sad. So pleased you are home and feeling better Smile

Welcome Twizzzy Smile

Thisisimpossible · 15/05/2014 08:21

Lol spanner!

alita7 · 15/05/2014 09:25

Yep spanner, I thought my nipples were huge already until about a week ago when they turned into(already crusty) Frisbees!!

TwigletFiend · 15/05/2014 09:31

Posy, glad you are feeling better and are at home!

Hi Twizzy, welcome to the madhouse Grin

Spanner, I'm trying to sneakily MN at work. Just did an honest-to-God spit-take with my herbal tea when I read that. I feel discovery may be nigh...

I haven't had any breast changes at all really, apart from them being bloody painful. (Clanged a nip on the stirrup getting off my horse somehow this morning. Swore like a trooper. Poor pony looked rather worried.) If they could get a little bigger, that would be great. As they are now, if I'm trying to bf I feel my DC could potentially swallow the whole boob without too much effort Confused

Brand, try sitting down and wriggling until you can really feel your seat bones against the chair. (Obviously do this in private, or you look like a twat.) Then tip forward slightly so you're sitting more on the front of your seat bones - so your pelvis is tilted slightly backwards. Keep the rest of you sitting upright - you should be able to feel the pull slightly in your abdominals. Then try The Squeeze. Sitting like that should make it a lot easier to feel your pelvic floor and keep your butt relaxed. Hope that made sense!

Thisisimpossible · 15/05/2014 09:39

Haha Twiglet I sympathise. I got a gentle head nudge in the boobs from my boy yesterday evening which sent me into orbit. He looked somewhat perplexed also!

TwigletFiend · 15/05/2014 09:48

Just to clarify, thisis... we're talking about a horse here?!

Thisisimpossible · 15/05/2014 09:58

Grin lol twiglet yes, we are!!

weeonion · 15/05/2014 10:37

Morning folks - youse are all on a roll today Grin

Spanner - so the world cup is taking place on your nipples?? Grin - that mental image made me snort out loud! I will never look at a globe again with thinking of you......

Thisisimpossible - i LOVE the wolf of insecurity sentence.....

Greenstone · 15/05/2014 10:39

Good morning everyone and thanks for the new thread.

alita thanks for your reply to me on the other thread about antibiotics - I still haven't decided what to do. Not sure what they gave me last time but it was only a week's worth and I think I'd need something stronger to really get rid of the folliculitis once and for all. I am very reluctant to take them though for something non-urgent. It's funny because I am a bit lax about the banned list of foods during pregnancy (apart from alcohol) - still drinking normal tea and wouldn't panic over other stuff if they came my way - but drugs do concern me! I am lucky to not have much experience with antibiotics as an adult - the dose I got last year was the first I've had since childhood so I'm not overly clear about their effect on the body and all that.

I'm OK about the changes to my body this time around, although I think it must be said we're in a kind of a frumpy stage of pregnancy right now! I don't mind looking pregnant but I do mind looking frumpy and I'm finding the clothes issue a headache because I like clothes and like to feel good in them. But it's fine. What's really bothering me is the folliculitis AND the preggo acne - I am definitely allowed to angst over that!

Fellow acne sufferers - how are you doing now? I had thought that my skin was calming down but it keeps flaring up :( I'm going on holidays at the end of May (YAY! First proper holiday in 5 years) and am so hoping that the sun will dry up the spots.

Twiglet - I have really small boobs too, they only get a little bit bigger during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Was able to feed fine.

Welcome to all the new people, hope you're all doing well!
