Morning Girls,

Thought I would start a new thread as someone suggested further down the last one.

Come and join.

Debbsy, how are things today ? Hope you are feeling better.
Tummy Button is starting to poke out a bit, sort of half in and half out, looks very odd.
We brought our buggy yesterday - we have gone for this one , being delivered a week Friday. Can't wait to get it home and have a push.

Not even thought about hospital bag yet. When I was pregnant with DD, I'm sure I already had it packed by now. We had one for labour and one for afterwards which worked quite well, think we will do the same this time.
Carseat - I had to stay in after having DD so DH brought the carseat up to the hospital the next day with him. I think we will put it in the car ready this time though as hoping to be in and out in a flash

I have been up all night but thank god the pain in my leg has worn off, lucky really it's ds's birthday today he doesn't really understand he's only 2 but were having a little family party and birthday tea later. He's opened 1 presant now and the rest he will have later. trust me to give him the one this morning that makes a hell of alot of noise! It's a baby music center with a xylophone and drums and bells! yay!

LO is ok today doing its usual wiggly thing!

HopingCat · 15/09/2006 10:49

Charlee, I hope the pain stays away. If it's all down your leg it could perhaps be a nerve, or something in your back that the baby is lying on?

Well, my friend still isn't in labour, so the sweep hasn't worked yet. I really really hope she doesn't have to be induced as I've heard it can be a very intense labour, and she is so scared of childbirth as it is that I don't think the planned nature of being induced is a good thing for her. She's now 41+2 weeks. I'd be trying everything to get the baby out if I was her!

Debz99 · 15/09/2006 11:52

Glad to hear your feeling better charlee like HC said it sounds like a nerve, I get it if I sit awkwardly, the pain starts in the hip and moves down the side of my leg to my ankle. According to the physio it's all to do with the pelvis being unstable and the thousand of nerves that come out the bottom of your spine, now and again one gets trapped between the bones in the pelvis as it moves. It's horrid I had one trapped for 2 weeks but touch wood only the odd twinge now and again now ! Its difficult ot explain in text but I will give it a go .. there is an exercise you can do ..... lay on your side with your knees drwan up towards your tummy (Well as far as they will go anyway) LOL stretch out you foot pointing toes away (like a ballet dancer) then curl your toes towards you. You can feel it pulling slightly on your leg but it works to release the nerve and prevents it happening again. GOOD LUCK !

velcrobott · 15/09/2006 12:18

Debz have you looked into an osteopath?

LeBe · 15/09/2006 12:42

Hi everyone.

Everybody seems to be suffering lately, i had an email through about pg yesterdsay and it was about the symptoms you can get in your 3rd trimester, i had al of them!
Had a bad night last night, i was so glad to get home being so tired and got straight in the bath as i was in so much discomfort i then fell asleep and got up to dp making my dinner - bless him and then i went back to bed, and started crying where i was so fed up of being uncomfortable and over tired. Anyway feel better today ive now realised that if i eat too much then i get uncomfortable so i must learn to leave food if i cant squash it down.

Also wondered if anyone knew what a 'mammas and pappas - back to nature mellano bouncer' is. My mum is getting me one but she doesnt know what it is?? i am asuming it is either a bouncer chair or one of those things that goes in the door frame for them to bounce in?

Hope everyone feels better and Charlee i really feel for you, you seem to have had a hard time for the last few weeks

Debz99 · 15/09/2006 12:44

I have not bothered with an osteopath as my trapped nerve situation is so much better now, just have SPD !

velcrobott · 15/09/2006 12:56

Well all I can say is that SPD CAN be helped by an osteopath and not so much by a physio.... hence I was asking again.
I speak from personal experience and from the expereince of many mumsnetters... even physios will recommend osteopathy for SPD. We had an obstetric physio on mumsnet 3 or 4 years ago and SHE went to see an osteopath when she had SPD.
I just don't feel like you need to suffer this much

Debz99 · 15/09/2006 14:28

You have got me thinking now velcrobott, the only thing that is putting me off is the cost, as funds are quite tight at the moment.

saralou100 · 15/09/2006 14:37

hi everyone...... went to tesco's today, i have food in my cupboards again my freezer has more than frost in it and my fridge is full!! so haven't been bothered with food lately that i let it get really bad, bet i still can't find anything i want to eat though!! ds is poorly today, bless him he's got his first cold!! all snotty nosed and coughing... best part is he's very cuddly, so we've just spent 3 hrs lying on the sofa together watching cartoon's.. bliss!!

hopingcat, how lovely another of your friends has had their baby and another one very soon!! after my sweep with ds i went mad doing everything to get baby out- had sex, took dog for long walks (in the snow) jumped up and down.... 26hrs later labour finally kicked off... 30 hrs later i had a baby!!

lol, ds just bought over his cough medicine.. better go give him some!! xx

LeBe · 15/09/2006 14:44

Forgot to say. Charlee hope your ds has a lovely birthday, and DONT OVER DO IT!!! I bet you dont need me nagging you do you. Are you sending food? We have all had jelly&ice cream and cake, what treats do we all get today? .

Debz - i hope your spd gets better, I feel quite lucky now that i only get the pain at night now. I read on a pg website the other day someone was describing what the pain was like, she said it was like being a dolly and having those moveable legs and having them ripped off sideways! Quite a good comparison i think. I cant wait for lo to drop now cos im real struggling with breathing and all my organs feel so squashed and ive got a constant ache under my boobs, why does nobody tell you all these things until your actually pregnant?!? x

Debz99 · 15/09/2006 15:27

I didn't think so many symptoms existed during pregnancy !!!! Just though you got big, had a few aches, mainly back ache, sometime got diabetes and high blood pressure and that was it .... boy what a shock !! I have better days and bad days with the SPD the doll explanation is spot on as well sa someone saying it feels like someone has kicked you in the crutch ! sorry maybe TMI!

LeBe · 15/09/2006 16:14

No im glad you put that because i have had that feeling Debz and i was a bit worried about what it was didnt know it was related i thought it might have been an infection?
I know what you mean about the symptoms, i thought you got a bit of heartburn and some backache, does it seem to you everyone else makes being pg look easy. I struggle to get up, sit down, bend down and as for turning over in bed well its a military operation and talk about a beached whale getting in the bath! Let alone the headaches, painful ribs, boobs, hips, hot flushes... i could go on! I think it is natures way of getting you ready for the birth, because i was terrified now i just want to get on with it and get it over with! x

spinach · 15/09/2006 16:17

have any of you been given an estimate of baby's weight at a scan... i have... am wondering how to predict birth weight from it... i know its not accurate, am just curious.....

Tinasan · 15/09/2006 17:30

Hi Spinach,

Does it say what centile the weight was? I guess you could then work it out by comparing it to the same centile for newborns? (I had a scan at 28 weeks and they said my baby was on the 47th centile, so just under average - if she stays at the same centile, I guess she will be just under 7.5 pounds at birth)?

Hope that helps a bit....

Bethbe · 15/09/2006 17:49

Help!

I've eaten today: 3/4 a Thorntons Luxury Chocolate cake, 3 mini flakes, a packet of crisps and a creme caramel - oh and an apple!

Do any of you have days like this? I didn't even have a sweet tooth before I was pg but now I'm not in control.........

Bethbe

spinach · 15/09/2006 20:03

weight wise.. just gave me the weight in grams and said it was above the mean!

Delia · 16/09/2006 09:27

morning all, been awol for a couple of days, but just caught up.
I asked an estimated weight last time we saw the registra and she said it was about 8lb 2oz.
Your descriptions of spd are spot on, do you get the shooting pains through your bum and up your spine to or is that the additional siatica?
HC - congrats to your one friend and good luck to the other.
Debz - the natural yoghurt you Dr has suggested is to boost your friendly bacteria - I normally suffer with heartburn and see a specialist but over pregnancy i seem to be getting away with it though do have extra prebiotics everyday to ward it off.

fresco · 16/09/2006 11:00

Hello

Sorry i have been absent i have been mega busy! (but not over doing it!)

We had a little party for DS in the evening on friday it was pretty hectic with 7 kids running around! I spent the day blowing up baloons and making food and of course there is some Holly the Hedgehog birthday cake around for you all!

Ds really enjoyed himself this is the first time he's been able to open his own pressies.

We went to the Zoo yesterday for the day he loved it! He's totally in love with tortoises so he got a giant stuffed teddy of one.

We were both really sick yesterday i got home and spent the evening mopping up after ds throwing up then as soon as i dropped off to sleep i started it wasn't the most plesant of nights!

HopingCat · 17/09/2006 21:41

Hi all,

Well, my friend still hasn't had her baby. She's being induced tomorrow afternoon so should have her baby by Tuesday at the latest.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend. I'm starting to get very intense lower back pain a couple of times a day. It's like no back ache I've ever had before. Is this the baby lying in funny positions? He or she is normally head down and lying on my right side (often sticking bum out) but if the back pain is not the baby moving around I don't know what it is. Any ideas?

Northerner · 17/09/2006 21:58

Hi guys, just wanted to pop in to say Hi, and hope you are all enjoying your pg's. I was on this thread in the early days, but sadly miscarried

Anyway, this thread keeps popping up in active convo's and I often feel a twinge of what might have been. It's only now I've been ebale to read how you guys are getting on and what you are up to!

You're all on the home straight now, so feet up, look after yourselves and here's to lots of bouncing babies!

Hi Northerner
I'm often on the same threads as you and always think about you being on this thread in the early days. Glad you are finding things better now, it can't have been easy at all.

Hi

Thought it was going to take me ages to catch up since i havent been on here since friday but everyone seems to be out doing other things instead this weekend. I had a good weekend, did nothing!!! Watched DVDs and slept loads is was a nice change i am still tired as anything though, had a good old cry to my Mum on Sat about all the things that are woorying me she thinks i may be a little depressed and thats why im always tired, she might be right tho because i do feel like this is the best thing in the world and i feel ungrateful for feeling a bit low about things.
Anyway an update on the swinging chair - didnt want to go in the week (too tired) so i went sat morning, managed to find the reciept so i thought no probs, they offered me a replacement and i said they dont make them anymore, so she said i would have to leave it with them and they would ring me Mon morning after they got confirmation from Fisher Price that they no longer make them!! Firstly i cant believe somewhere like Fisherprice isnt open on a Sat and secondly surely they should know seeing as they dont have them anymore that they are no longer made? I was not impressed.
Anyway sorry for the rant, hope everyone had a good weekend oh and HC goodluck to your friend. x
