Just starting a new thread so we have somewhere to go once thread 2 is full (I give it less than a day!!)

Welcome to the never-ending first trimester, and maybe some of us into the second trimester this thread?

omama I'm really not sure how to tackle this colleague on Monday. Trouble is, I would've been oblivious to this colleagues issues if my head teacher hadn't asked me to tell her first. But then I don't want her to think people have been gossiping.

The head did say "she probably won't take it very well" she is super sensitive and has only just warmed to me as in September when I started she saw me as stealing her job (which I really hadn't but still)

No idea how to go about it?

DrewsWife · 29/05/2014 18:22

im off work tonight due to exhaustion and nausea. im feeling particularly fucked off with my.boss who was furious. He thinks im at it.

lying in bed feeling awful and hubby is reading to my nice wee bump that is arriving.

SassehMonsta · 29/05/2014 18:58

Drew, thats super-sweet - my DH is gaming in the other room with his brother, and downloading games onto the 3DS we just bought.... Married to a bigish kid! (22)

Cat, definitely message her or don't tell her face to face. She will want to bawl her eyes out most likely, and that gives her the chance to do it in private before she faces you. While she may be really happy for you, it will be difficult for her no matter how you broach the subject. You say you aren't that close, maybe you could ask the head to drop her a message before you announce?

The head was pretty clear that I wasn't to mention her so I doubt she'd be cool telling her. I agree it would be easier via message, would it seem a little impersonal though? (Assuming someone I know has her phone number that is)

ChineseFireball · 29/05/2014 19:53

Wow things have moved on fast. Haven't been on for a bit, partly because the app wasn't working. Rejjie and ots I'm so sorry for your bad news, and sad for you both Sad please take care of yourselves x

Nausea is still vile and I'm being sick about once every three days at the moment. Different from last time when I was sick twice a day, every day, from week 7 to week 14, but with only mild nausea in between. This time I feel sick sick sick most of the time but I'm vomiting less. wonder if that means this one is a pink one...?

Someone at work asked me today if I was "...you know..." Smile I said, "ssshhhhhhh!" and she asked if it was early days so I said yes - turns out she is 2 weeks behind me and is having a scan tomorrow because she's had 2 mcs Sad I hope everything's ok this time for her.

Scan appointment has come through which is quite exciting! 17 June. What's that? 2.5 weeks? I'm still in denial really at the moment so maybe seeing the scan screen will help it to an more real?

Hope the sicky ladies feel better soon and Thanks for everyone x

If I had to place a bet on the colour of this one I would say pink as I was sick as a dog with ds but have only thrown up once this time at 6 weeks, had no morning sickness at all other than that (aside from the mild nausea which has mostly gone now too).

SassehMonsta · 29/05/2014 21:29

pourquoi - very jealous! ;)

Almost had a meltdown in Tesco this evening. Went to buy a 32GB SD card for the 3DS as ran out of space trying to get pokemon Y, and it was on the shelf at 29. Scanned through the checkout at 40 - no way was I going to pay 40. So I told the lady I didn't want it as it was going through at the wrong price. She wasn't helpful, so I left it, went back to check/find a cheaper one, and it was there for 29! Grrrr. No-one on the customer service or the electrical helpdesks, woman on tills told me there should be someone on customer service (Yes, I knowwwww there wasn't though!) and had to wait around for the woman to appear, then for her to go find the blasted thing - sent DH to help her find the item as she couldn't. Eventually she came back with it, and sold it to us at 20 (daft woman, couldn't read, but I'm not going to argue with that!) while giving us a lecture on how if we bought it back it would only be 20 refund etc not 40 - I want to useit, not return it for a profit love! ARRRGGHHH.

DH got annoyed with me getting annoyed (when woman wasn't at desk) and lots of sighing ensued. But hes happy he has his stupid SD card (second time in Tesco, aready done a food shop this afternoon/evening!)

I hate hormones. I'm turning into my mother!

Acquired colleagues phone number and let her know. Her response was surprisingly positive and actually very touching :)

Can't wait to tell the world once my parents get back off their holidays!

ChineseFireball · 30/05/2014 06:42

Oh catface I'm so pleased it went ok. That's a great weight off your mind Thanks

CallingAllEngels · 30/05/2014 07:48

Glad it went well catface - I was going to say that I think a short text or email is the best way. Telling people face to face is hard - you have to compose yourself when all you may want to do is cry. Has happened to me several times (when we were ttc ds for 18 months, post mcs) and the text /email option was much easier for me to deal with.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 30/05/2014 07:53

I've officially had it with waking up ridiculously early! I spend all day exhausted and I go to bed at 9:30pm, which means, of course, that I wake up early again the next day Confused

In other news, though, 10+1! Officially a foetus! Midwife in 6 days, eee.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 30/05/2014 07:54

Oh and I dreamt that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt had twins called Angel and Engels Grin that didn't happen, did it?

ffallada · 30/05/2014 09:23

Lol sheesh - I am also turning into mum - went totally over the top at my partner the other day - he has a particularly annoying habit of putting stuff down on any clear surface he can find (as this pregnancy progresses a clear table top surface is increasingly rare). I went a bit mental tbh and am a bit ashamed of myself. Fast forward 24hrs and I'm in my parents house filling up my parents kitchen surfaces with stuff - cue my mum going off at me.! What goes around comes around Blush

It occurred to me the other day that giving birth and actually looking after a baby must the the most horrendous thing on the planet if it is too eclipse the horror of pregnancy. Prior to being pregnant I had no idea what it entailed -
Presumably this is because all mothers forget the pregnancy horror in the face of the new baby horror?
I may be worrying a bit about the future Confused

stripeymonster · 30/05/2014 09:39

ff - lol - i actually find the new baby stage much worse than being pregnant. maybe by six months it starts getting a bit easier! i still mourn those relaxing holidays we used to go on just me and hubby. won't be the same for a long time yet ..... still baby no. 3 coming so must be something good about the whole thing? maybe?!

CatFaceCrayola · 30/05/2014 09:42

Bit grumpy because I've had to cancel this weekends camping trip as my face is still too swollen to drive a camper van.

Being cheered up every time I look at scan photo though.

think I will make DH escort me into town today for bra shopping. Might treat myself to a new ukukele too :)

(12+5) it's nice to actually know how far I am instead of guess work!

CatFaceCrayola · 30/05/2014 09:43

Ukulele even

PunkyPod · 30/05/2014 11:23

Hehe ff i found the pregnancy bit alright but the friggin labour was my hell on earth! Newborn is kinda hard and exhausting but once you've got to grips with everything is all sort of slots into place.

sasseh your tesco trip sounds infuriating. i really hope your sickness starts fading now.

I'm definitely feeling the baby move now. it's lovely and reassuring.

We're off to a wedding this weekend. It's going to be a pretty special do. DD is also coming which is lovely and exhausting in equal measures. She's 2 next week :-o

oohdaddypig · 30/05/2014 13:08

I guess nothing for me eclipses the utter horror that is first and second trimester sickness. I find the new baby stage tiring but dream boat city compared to how I feel now!

I actually like the third trimester and found labour ok. Please don't feel like you want to punch for saying that :) I am suffering right now....

I guess it's each to their own and for me the first trimester is the worst of all!!

Scan tonight. I have to be honest I'm dreading it Hmm

PunkyPod · 30/05/2014 13:21

Yeh daddypig, everyone has different experiences. One person's dream boat is another person's nightmare.

Wishing everyone an easy ride....Smile

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 30/05/2014 14:15

I'm moving house in less than 24 hours. My house is a pig sty. I had rather hoped the shame of having my judgy SIL round in the morning to help would get my arse moving but... no. Waah. Moan moan moan.

porsmork · 30/05/2014 17:31

Good luck with the move, Peace!

We're off to tell my parents our news this weekend, very excited/ nervous! Especially as we don't have the scan until Monday... Still it's the only weekend we're free to tell them before we see them at the airport to fly out for our wedding in three weeks. The departure gate didn't seem like the best place some how!

stripeymonster · 30/05/2014 20:19

Anyone else wishing they could have a large glass of wine or ice cold beer? Hmmm been resisting so far but Friday nights are hard to resist.

Pepsiaddict · 30/05/2014 21:07

No, but am struggling to find liquids that I don't have an aversion to. Fresh orange juice is one of the few things that I can drink without retching. Wonder why I put in lots of weight in the first trimester despite not being able to eat chocolate! Sparkling water was ok a few weeks ago but gone off that as well :-(

CatFaceCrayola · 30/05/2014 21:49

stripey a glass of wine or a half of some nice dark real ale would go down a treat!

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 30/05/2014 22:04

Over the weekend I had a weak bitter shandy sitting in the sun camping. It was amazing.
