Sorry to hear your sad news ots. Look after yourself

littlegreengloworm · 28/05/2014 20:30

Ots Flowers look after yourself xx

omama · 28/05/2014 20:37

whats - in your situation I'd def do the same Wink I didn't think they were keen on induction for a VBAC anyway? Something to do with increased risk of rupture?

I'm not too keen on induction - I don't know a single person who has laboured successfully after it, all have gone on to need EMCS for failure to progress/baby stuck etc. I know it may be a little short sighted to base my opinion on experience of only a few & they wouldn't do it at all if it weren't successful for some, but it certainly seems to lead to more interventions. I've decided that if I go overdue & get to the point where I'd need inducing, I'll prob ask for ELCS instead.

PolytheneGirl · 28/05/2014 20:56

I'm slightly concerned about VBAC too. I had an ELCS (at 36wks) with DS because of other health problems but I'm pretty sure that as I have diabetes they'll want to induce me early and I'm very scared that this will cause my scar to rupture.

I'm seeing the specialist midwife next fri, so I'll bring it up then.

So very sorry for you, Rejjie and ots. Take care and be kind to yourselves Hmm

PolytheneGirl · 28/05/2014 21:21

WhatsOneMore I've just said the same to DH, I'm fine with a natural labour but induction after CS really really scares me. I think I'm going to tell them that if they want me to have baby early it will have to be by CS. Mind you they really pushed me into the ELCS last time. Just hated being stuck in hospital afterwards when I just wanted to take my baby home.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 28/05/2014 21:42

I've burst loads of blood vessels around my eyes from throwing up :( such a picture

CatFaceCrayola · 28/05/2014 21:46

Freaking out slightly (maybe more than slightly!)about tomorrows scan! I so so hope everything is ok.

face still very swollen and sore but I can actually SEE again which is nice :)

omama · 28/05/2014 21:51

Wowsers whats that's fast!

Polythene this is another reason I'm not keen on CS this time. I was in hospital for 5 days last time (mostly due to difficulty establishing bf) & I just don't want to do that again.

Eek I can't believe in 12hrs I will finally get to know if my little bean is ok.

Reijie & ots I hope you're both doing ok.xx

mopsytop · 28/05/2014 21:58

Had my scan today. Little wriggler inside. All looks fine. PHEW! Big relief!

PolytheneGirl · 28/05/2014 22:02

omama I think it will be even harder this time as I've never spent any time away from DS. Having him I was in for 8 days before and 4 days after. I couldn't bear that this time, especially if it's over Christmas. that's very doubtful though

Good luck with the scans omama and catface

nickyjlees · 29/05/2014 05:57

Good luck omama and catface, exciting day! :)

Glad all is well mopsy!

Pepsiaddict · 29/05/2014 07:34

Omama - I was induced due to going overdue and it was fine. They started it slowly with the pessary but once the drip was turned on I gave birth within 4 hours. Gas and air and paracetamol and an 8lb 7oz baby. Being sutured after was worse! I'd want to be closely monitored if it was a VBAC and would def want to know risks etc but you can have a normal birth with an induction.

Am a bit worried at how quick the next labour may be and also how big the baby could be. Midwife said they may do growth scans - although dd wasn't huge in the scheme of things I'm a size 6-8 so she was a big baby for me.

Good luck to those with scans / appointments today.

Was hoping for a good day today, as lots to do. Sadly, 3 lots of vomiting later (incuding ona dual carriageway, cue double hazards and trying to steer while vomitting- I don't reccomend it!) I'm back home in bed trying to keep my fluids up. Hope I feel better this afternoon, or DH may tell me I can't go away this weekend... :/ Hating the HG!!!

As a ftm, I have no idea how I want my labour to be. Water birth sounds like a good idea to me, but pffft, depends on what cosultant says. Worried that consultant will just say ELCS if baby starts affecting my lungs..... Eeeks. Will see.

12 week scan in less than 2 weeks now :D 11+3 today.

Has anyone ever given birth in a consultant-led environment? I'm wondering how much choice I'll have in my birth plan, or whether they'll just have me in the stirrups from the off!

Sorry to read the sad news Rejjie and ots, all the best to both of you. It makes it all feel so fragile, seeing everyone join here and reading all the good and bad news as time passes.

To those concerned about induction, I was induced with my ds and had a good experience. Long latent phase but from 4cm to him born was 3 hours or so, it was all quite manageable. They really took notice of my birth plan, I was sat on a birth ball most of the time dispite being hooked up to lot of monitors.

We had our 12 week scan last week and all is good, due date has moved forward a day to 3rd Dec and our down syndrome ratio is 1/5000 which I am pleased pleased with.

All the best to those suffering ms, hopefully as a group we will all see the back of it soon. It's exciting seeing a Feb 2015 group has started, makes me feel further along!

13+1

omama · 29/05/2014 16:54

Hey ladies.

mopsytop great news!

sasseh the sickness seems never ending for you - hope it eases up a bit soon poor love!

Also had my scan today & all went well! Baby measuring bang on for dates & all looks good so far! The relief is immense!

Good to hear more poditive induction stories, makes it seem a bit less scary. Saw consultant after scan, we've agreed I will try for vbac but if I go overdue i have to go back to see him & discuss options, ie induction v elcs. He talked a lot about risks of induction during vbac & he didnt seem too keen.
Was very positive about vbac tho, they have the portable monitoring things so I can keep mobile & they are also happy for me to use the birthing pool for labouring but I have to get out to push.

CatFaceCrayola · 29/05/2014 17:35

Scan went really well (and I narrowly managed to avoid wetting myself!!)

everything looks fine and dandy. Due slightly earlier than I'd worked out..7th Dec (so am now 12+4)

Want to tell everyone but have to wait a)for my parents to be back off holiday and b) to tell a lady at work that my boss has advised me to tell discretely before announcing as she's been trying for kids for ages and keeps having bad luck

omama · 29/05/2014 17:56

Great news CatFace! Lovely pic! I can't announce yet either, not back at work til monday so gotta wait til then. Dh was a bit gutted when he realised. I had a similar situation with a colleague who has also had a bad time of it. Fortunately in my case she announced her own pregnancy a few weeks ago. Turns out she'd also been worried about telling me!

Will your colleague want to be told face to face? I had planned to send mine msg as thought it wld give her time to digest the news before I saw her. Hope she takes it ok anyway.

Somersetgirl1990 · 29/05/2014 18:07

Yay catface were due date buddies!

Glad everyone's scans have gone well Smile
