If you're pregnant after a previous MC and due in December 14 this is the thread for you.

If you're an obsessive knicker-checker or just want someone to chat to who knows where you're coming from you'll fit right in.

Franks sorry your DD is going through that, hopefully the school will start to take it seriously now. My 20 week scan is the day after yours so we can be stressed together!

Unfortunately I spoke too soon again with the sickness. Was so bad last night and all today, saw the doctor this evening. He checked my urine and I had ketones +++ so he wanted to send me to hospital tonight for IV fluids. I refused because it's DS' birthday tomorrow, we have a soft play party booked for 16 children and I already feel like such a rubbish mother during this pregnancy I couldn't bear to let him down.

Doctor compromised with a new prescription and a promise from me to ring 111 or attend A and E if it continues. I'm going to try to hold out until Monday because then GP can do direct referral to ward and I can bypass queues. But think it's only a matter of time now before I have to give in. Sorry that all I seem to do on this thread is moan!

Hope everyone is doing well xx

funchum8am · 04/07/2014 20:25

Oh basgetti that sounds awful.. When you say "give in" do you mean be admitted?

No idea clear what ketones are but I know they are bad!

basgetti · 04/07/2014 20:29

Yeah, I mean take a trip to the hospital. I was admitted 3 times during my last pregnancy so I'm amazed I've held out so long this time tbh!

Penguin13 · 04/07/2014 20:45

Oh Basgetti I'm sorry you're feeling so awful and will have to go to hospital. You are not a rubbish mum, you are ill! I hope DS has a lovelu party tomorrow but do please look after yourself.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Having signed up to look after 2 of our nephews overnight, we turned up to find all three nephews aged 2, 5 and 9 and our 11 year old niece were there Shock. So far we have done ok I think but with zero childcare experience between us it has been quite an intense introduction! Unsurprisingly the 2 year old has been the biggest challenge but once I managed to get him into bed the rest were ok so fingers crossed for an uneventful night!! I also changed my first nappy today so woo for that Grin.

Well done Penguin, I am a teacher and have dd (21 months, so nearly 2) and I would feel totally unqualified for that too!

Basgetti, I hope the party went well and you are feeling a little better at least.

I have half a day with dd on my own tomorrow and am sooo looking forward to it - that must sound awful but I have been in marking purdah for nearly four weeks and DH has insisted on doing everything for dd even when I am there, to take the burden off me. This is lovely but the marking means I haven't had time to take her out to the swings or anything and him being so brilliant means I haven't even played with her that much recently - I admit I get lazy when I get the chance to go on mnet put my feet up and just look on.

We are off to a local market with kid friendly stuff going on and then for lunch. Can't wait! Wishing everyone else a lovely Sunday.

MrsFtn · 05/07/2014 21:16

Wow, what a brave Penguin! Congrats on the first nappy change! Hope you manage to have a good evening although I don't like your chances of a Sunday lie-in!

Basgetti I hope your DS had a lovely party. Hope you survived in once piece! All the best if you do need to go into hospital. Fingers crossed it will be a one time thing this pregnancy.

I'm having an ok weekend so far. I've done three loads of washing today, cooked and washed up lunch and dinner and was almost finished with the ironing just now when DH innocently piped up with "do you want me to do some!" I have been silently seething away all day as he has been playing outside with DD, watching football, playing on his xbox etc. I think my hormones have finally started getting the better of me. I have been feeling really PMTish for a few days now and have been really pissed off and snappy all the time.

CoventGarden75 · 06/07/2014 08:39

lol thanks fun but i wasn't strong enough and did blurt out the ttc, ivf, mmc story to family Blush

penguin, so good that you work with such lovely people. and i hope your nephews behaved through the night.

basgetti i hope you're feeling ok, how did the party go?

i went swimming yesterday morning, pool was quite empty so i took advantage and stayed for 50min and managed 2k. plus i felt like i needed to earn my b'day lunch. We had a lovely afternoon with friends.

my mum is coming to visit in september, but had only booked a one way ticket! shock-horror-panic face, i booked her a return flight Smile

Penguin13 · 07/07/2014 10:56

Covent I actually don't think it's a bad thing that you let your family know more about what was going on with you. It can be really hard when people make comments not knowing the full story. Hopefully it will help them to think about what they said and how it might have made you feel and maybe lead them to reflect before commenting in future.

Happy Birthday Covent. A lovely long swim and lunch with friends sounds like a great way to celebrate.

We survived the babysitting experience with all children intact so I consider that a success! Absolutely loved how hands on H was and seeing him taking care of the 2yo totally melted me. Quite glad we get to start off with just one that can't run around though!!

Hope you enjoyed your afternoon spending time with DD fun. How wonderful that you have such a supportive H but completely understand the need to spend some time just the two of you.

Mrs hope you are feeling a bit brighter today. Not surprised you were seething though having to do all of that with no help! I have definitely had my snappy moments but mostly owing to poor nights sleep which make me irritable and grumpy. How lovely that your mum is coming to stay although probably a wise move to get the return sorted - was she planning on staying till the birth?!

Basgetti how are you doing? Hope that the party went well and that treatment is helping you to feel better. If you ever feel tempted to feel like a failure for needing treatment or for being ill, just think of what you would say to a friend in your position. Probably that they are doing brilliantly under such difficult circumstances. Which you are!

Having to go to the dentist tomorrow am as I have a niggly toothache which started on sat and doesn't seem to be getting any better. It was so painful to eat ice-cream yesterday night that I ended up giving the rest to DH (that's when you know it's serious) Annoyingly because it's an emergency appointment it's private but I was worried if I waited till next Tues for an nhs slot it would get much worse so am biting the bullet and paying.

CoventGarden75 · 08/07/2014 08:57

penguin good luck at the dentist! Ouch...

Penguin13 · 08/07/2014 12:25

Where has everyone gone? It's almost like you have lives or something unlike me,clearly Grin ...

Dentist was okay. I had a small cavity in my wisdom tooth Blush so they gave me my first filling ever but I also have some muscular pain from overuse of my jaw muscles so I'm getting a mouth guard to help rest/realign my muscles at night and stop me from grinding my teeth. All in all not too bad for not having been to the dentist in about 5 years (oops Blush)

CallingAllEngels · 08/07/2014 14:44

Sorry for going awol. Struggling atm with low blood pressure and low energy. Bp was only 90/50 last night and I fainted a week ago. Have just come home early from work as I feel rotten.

Had 15w appt last night, heard the baby's heartbeat and have to ring up tomorrow and book our anomoly scan at 20w.

One more week of school left (and mostly meetings) and then 6 weeks holiday.

PresidentSpreadable · 08/07/2014 14:49

That's not too bad Penguin. I clench my jaw at night, so have a nice silicon mouthguard, very sexy. Does the job though.

Just had a nice week on a tiny island in Greece, super relaxing. Managed to put on 5lbs though and have my first appt with the consultant tomorrow and an early GTT due to the first results. Bound to get bollocked about my weight. Meh.

Got my head around being pregnant though and was nice to have a week away from the usual stresses with MrPres. Think we are finally entering the acceptance phase!

CakesALot · 08/07/2014 15:30

Hello all!

Well done at the dentists, Penguin. I avoid going as much as possible as I hate it, but it's never as bad as I fear when I get there!

Hope you're getting plenty of rest now, Calling. Any reason why the blood pressure is dropping?

President, I'm so jealous of your lovely getaway! A holiday would be so good right now!

Just had a meeting at work to talk about when I should take my maternity leave. All seems a bit hypothetical still, but it could actually turn into reality! Just 8 days until my scan...come on time, hurry up!

CallingAllEngels · 08/07/2014 15:38

No real reason cakes apparently common in pg and not dangerous for the baby like high bp would be. Just annoying as I'm exhausted and have lots of work to do before the end ofterm and a holiday tp pack for! Mw told me to take it easy (not easy with a toddler!) And eat/drink somethingsalty if feeling light headed.

pres your holiday sounds lovely. I am looking forward to not doing very much for the next 6 weeks!

Penguin13 · 08/07/2014 17:47

Hi Engels sorry you're struggling. Fainting is horrible, poor you, only experienced it once in my life and that was enough for me. Glad you only have one week of school to make it through before you can hopefully take it a little bit easier although having looked after a toddler for just one day I can see how that would be a challenge!

Ooh Pres your holiday sounds perfect and great news that you've had some time to process the whole 'wow, we might actually have a baby!' thing. H and I are planning to go to Greece in early Sept but we need to get our fingers out and actually book something.

Am I right in thinking someone has their scan this week? Mine's on Mon but I'm pretty sure am not the first.

OP posts:
CallingAllEngels · 08/07/2014 18:11

Reckon I might try and work from home tomorrow. No classes, only one inset session and then planning time for next year.

Really looking forward to holiday as we're going with my dsis and bil who are great with ds and have tonnes of energy compared to me so can farm him out for an hour here or there.

FranksBobot · 08/07/2014 18:49

Evening all.

Calling low blood pressure sucks. Mine was bad at the start but is slightly better now. It stayed low my entire pregnancy with DD. I found it handy having a mars bar close by at all times as the increase in sugar can sometimes prevent the fainting.

Penguin How exciting that your scan is so soon! Are you planning on finding out wether you are team pink or blue?

I do hope Basgetti is ok. I'm hoping the lack of updates is due to being hooked up to lots of fluids etc in hospital. Fingers crossed you are feeling better soon.

I have my 16w appointment next week (i'll actually be 17w!) and 20w scan on august 7th. (Feels like ages away)

I bought a blanket today! It was a bargain and super super soft and cute. I couldn't resist. DP was impressed that i waited this long which i am taking as permission to buy if i want!!

15+5 today Grin

CoventGarden75 · 08/07/2014 18:50

engels you must be looking forward to the holidays and no more fainting please, not good for you. I desperately need a holiday too, after a good weekend, I have been struggling to stay awake at work in the last 2 days, aren't we in the 2nd tri? why/where is the energy gone again? I have a couple of days off at the end of August, so trying to hang on to that.

president good luck with appt tomorrow.

cakes it make it all feel more real doesn't it? A lady came for her 2nd interview for my job today. 20w scan is not before another 2.5 weeks. Luckily, DP had ordered a doppler which arrived today, so we heard the HB tonight Smile

17+5

FranksBobot · 08/07/2014 19:12

Covent You just reminded me, oh my days the tiredness!! When does it end? I work from home but this last week i've really struggled to do anything as i can easily sleep all day. Its a bloody good job i control my work load and can pass jobs on to a colleague! So much for that 2nd trimester energy boost!
YAY for hearing the heartbeat, be-warned dopplers are addictive. It is just greatest sound ever though.

CakesALot · 08/07/2014 20:32

Oh yes the tiredness has come back with a whole new attitude! I'm normally a morning person and bounce into work bright and breezy but at the moment I'm finding it so hard to drag myself out of bed and stomp through the office door with a grunt and my sunglasses on to hide the bags!!

MrsFtn · 08/07/2014 22:24

Hi everyone, you're right penguin we did all go a bit quiet over the weekend - seems to have picked up today though.

I get to about 2:15 and then the tiredness kicks in. It does come and go day by day though unlike the first tri when it was constant!

Very jealous of those who have had holidays/ have holidays coming up. DH is a teacher so is on countdown now. Every year I forget it's just him that has summer hols and I hate it when I remember I still have to go to work Sad

Thinking of basgetti hope you are okay.

Two more sleeps til my 20 wk scan and I seem to be dreaming about it every night. Last night I dreamt it was a boy and then I dreamt it had an enzyme deficiency - I'm not even sure if that's a thing and I'm too scared to google it in case it is!!! We are going to find out if its pink or blue though if all goes well.

I have a random question - when you ladies take your wee samples to appts what do you take them in? Obvs you use a sample pot but do you just put it loose in your handbag?! I'm too scared it will leak so I end up wrapping the pot in a plastic bag but then I get embarrassed when I have to dig it out and unravel it! Told you it was a random selection one!

FranksBobot · 08/07/2014 22:34

MrsFTN my "sample" once in its pot is wrapped in tissue, placed in a zip-lock sandwich bag and then wedged upright in the phone pocket in my handbag! It is a very specific process and I even have to use a certain handbag but I am not taking any chances when it comes to leaks. I will admit now I've written it down it does sound a bit ott!

Penguin13 · 09/07/2014 08:48

I haven't actually taken a sample anywhere as the first appointment was at my house and I wasn't given a container for the second sample in advance, but I would definitely wrap it up in a plastic bag - I'd be much more embarrassed about having a bag covered in leaked wee Grin. I think a ziplock bag sounds like a practical solution and would certainly involve less rummaging than the tesco bag mine will certainly be wrapped in!

Exciting Mrs! Now only one sleep!! I can totally relate on the concern front but I'm sure we'll both be fine. Trying to remind myself that worrying won't change the outcome in any case. We're not going to find out if we're team pink or blue. I can totally understand why people do but I know if I did I'd accidentally let it slip and I'd like it to be a surprise. I did have to laugh when I read on a thread that not knowing gives you extra motivation to push when in labour, surely finally getting to meet your baby and hold them in your arms is motivation enough!

OP posts:
CoventGarden75 · 09/07/2014 14:10

Never had to bring in sample, they always asked to do it on the spot. I do wrap it in paper towel between the toilet and the room tho!

Hurray! Belly button bar arrived today, the 'normal' one was becoming a real struggle, not sure I'd have lasted another day.

Is it bump time yet? I wish I had a neat one but it just look like a full stomach from under belly up to boobs.

Good luck for tomorrow ftn how exciting Grin, at what time is your appt?
