Poor you Nazly! Thanks I wouldn't waste your time going to see a doctor, go straight to a dentist. I went to see my doc a little while ago before being pg as the gum around my wisdom tooth had become infected and the first thing he said was, this is a dental problem I.e not his problem. I assume it's all to do with money, but I have a private dentist so didn't want to pay their silly prices just for some antibiotics.

I'm sure emergency dental work can be done in pregnancy including local anesthetic, they can't leave you like that. They probably won't x-ray you though I'd say.

lolee777 · 30/03/2014 18:34

Hi, signing in September 25

My results came back from 12 week scan as 1:10000, feeling a bit disappointed but having words with myself, its low risk and I wouldn't want a diagnostic test because of the odds. Does anyone know what one of those private blood tests will tell me? Will I get any more of an accurate result?

I was told the dental card covers everything.

topmammy · 30/03/2014 19:00

lolee My DRF came back as 1:1,100! If I'm not worrying then you don't need to either. I've no idea why mine is so much higher than most other people's on here as its about an average result for my age (26) and my bmi is pretty much normal. If I hadn't been on here I would never have known about other people's risk factors anyway and would have accepted my low risk result without further thought; the internet is a bit dangerous sometimes lol. I'm not worried now but comparing mine with other people's scared me at first! To help you put it into perspective, my risk as a percentage is approx 0.001% chance so yours is much lower.

TheOnlySeven · 30/03/2014 19:16

nazly ouch that sounds awful. I'd guess they'd only do an x-Ray during pregnancy is if was vital, obviously if you thought you had a broken leg they'd do one! I know in hospitals they have lead that you'd use to cover the bump but I don't think a dentist would be well equipped enough. I'm hoping anaesthetic is ok as I need to have a filling replaced this week, the dentist said it couldn't wait until September.

Has anyone thought about nappies yet? I've got loads of reusable ones I need to sell, I'm hoping to make enough that I can buy some more for the new baby during real nappy week when there are often good deals on.

topmammy · 30/03/2014 19:32

No nappies here yet, Seven. I have looked at the nappy aisle in the supermarket and thought bloody hell how many are there to choose from?! closely followed by, this could get expensive! lol. I have thought about reusable ones but does it mean that my washing machine will be on washing nappies 24/7?

kicksandgiggles · 30/03/2014 19:33

The dental card covers everything they think has to be done, but not anything viewed as optional. For example, it covers the cost of each six-month check-up, but not a cleaning (which I also get done every six months). But emergency stuff should definitely be covered.

Re. stretch marks, I used various body butters and later bio oil during my first pregnancy, but still got loads of stretch marks. Most of these appeared in the 11 days that DS went overdue! I had some bio oil left, so am already using that now, but have no high hopes of it doing much, as my skin will get stretched even more this time with two babies.

I've had a bump since about eight weeks, and have been feeling movement since 13, which I know doesn't help anyone else (are there any other twins in this group? I haven't seen anyone announce that). It's already at the point now where I can tell the twins apart by their movements. I can't remember precisely with DS, but I was in maternity clothes by the start of the second trimester, and think I was feeling movements around 17 weeks.

I have my 17 week scan tomorrow (on the NHS - I'll be scanned at least every two weeks from here on out), and am really hoping to find out the gender. Fingers crossed!

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

TheOnlySeven · 30/03/2014 20:46

Ooh good luck kicks. By you saying the gender does that mean they're identical twins?

topmammy absolutely not. I had to wash them most days when I haas two in reusables but now it's just DD2 in them I can get away with washing every 2-3 days. You might be interested to know that on average between birth and potty training it equates to over 4000 nappies Shock

kicksandgiggles · 30/03/2014 21:02

Yes, they're identical, so either two boys or two girls. I am really dying to know which!

Dazedconfused · 30/03/2014 21:36

dazedconfused edd 20th Sept team yellow for now

just got sent my 20 week scan can't wait

TheOnlySeven · 30/03/2014 21:48

When are everyone's scans? Mine isn't until the first week of May, seems like ages away!

Teabiscuits · 30/03/2014 21:55

nazly poor you, there is nothing worse than toothache, I'm pretty sure a doctor told me that local anaesthetic is safe in pregnancy, I think it was in my last pregnancy when I had this huge bizarre boil thing come up behind my ear that might have needed lancing Confused. Luckily it didn't in the end but one would assume that it should be safe in your mouth as well. As for the movements, everyone feels them differently so maybe baby just likes being upside down so kicks upwards for you. I don't think you need to worry, happy to hear you can feel them now :)

Also I can't remember who posted (sorry Blush ) but there is totally such thing as bump envy. I have never had a really big bump, despite being fairly slim (size 12) and I envy all those women who just suddenly pop and have a lovely round tummy. I think I carry babies in my bum as its about all that gets bigger Envy .

Almost wore shorts today until I realised my varicose veins look like wiggly green blue hosepipes. Fabulous.

Teabiscuits · 30/03/2014 22:15

to clarify - local anaesthetic should be safe in your mouth if they would have used it behind my ear. That sentence on last post came out a bit strange!

topmammy · 30/03/2014 22:30

Hehe it was me asking about bump envy. I've got quite a big tummy at the mo, but I think it is mainly food! Blush

My scan is on 9th April, Seven. Starting to get excited but a familiar nervous feeling like before last scan is at the back of my mind too.

I'm getting occasional sharp twingy feelings in what I'm imagining is my cervix. Feels like its somewhere up there anyway. It doesn't really hurt and only lasts a second or two, happens just randomly, it's easy enough to ignore. Anyone else had this? Surely it's too early for the Braxton hicks I've heard about. Hoping it's not the start of UTI or something.

Can't believe it's Monday again tomorrow. Roll on Friday lol! :)

topmammy · 30/03/2014 22:38

P.s. teabiscuits I hope I don't carry my baby more towards my bum as it is already huge! Never mind bump support, I would need a bum support. Luckily DH likes it haha! Blush

TheOnlySeven · 30/03/2014 22:41

Doesn't sound like braxton hicks. If you were further along I'd say it could be the baby kicking downwards. I wouldn't worry but mention it next time you see your MW if it carries on.

Nazly · 31/03/2014 00:35

Thank you all lovely ladies for helpful comments and advices and sympathy... xx Can't wait till tomorrow morning to see if any dentist sees me at short notice ... Sad
Have a good start of the week every one, hope urs is better than mine anyhow ...

weebairn · 31/03/2014 06:07

My scan is 15 May - seems like ages away!

GOOD LUCK with first day of your new job, Missingcaffeine! Hope all goes well for you.

misog2000 · 31/03/2014 07:15

Mines 12th May, does seem a long way away ATM, but sure time will fly. Good luck with the dentist Nazly, hope the tooth isn't too painful

isitme1 · 31/03/2014 08:34

naz local anaesthetic is ok I had 1 a few weeks ago plus filling for almost the same thing (filling fell out a while ago and then tooth has broke some more and it really hurt!)

I carry everywhere lol.
Ive got a massive bum (think kim kardishian) and then I have almost 9lber babies plus massive placenta and all that water! Can you begin to imagine the whale that I will become again also how can kim think her arse is sexy! I bloody hate mine

isitme1 · 31/03/2014 08:35

My scan is on the 16th and then I will get 2 growth scans (at least)

Lottiedoubtie · 31/03/2014 08:39

My scan is the last Friday in April, feels like ages away though.

IAteSomeofthePies · 31/03/2014 09:09

Poor Nazly I hope your tooth gets sorted soon! I need to go see a dentist, and must get that free card. I've just felt like I had so many visits to medical professionals of late (I usually never go) that I just can't be bothered to fit in another.

Scan mid April for me. I'm fighting the first twinges of scan doom.

I finally had an appt with a consultant surgeon for a very uncomfortable knee that I hurt in January. (It took a while to work my way up through the referrals to her.) I need surgery but must wait until after the baby comes. In the meantime, I'm supposed to 'not do anything to make it worse' Hmm. I'm worried that I'll be completely immobile in the later stages when I get bigger!

dontevenblink · 31/03/2014 09:54

My scan is 15th April, they try to do them at 19 weeks here.
Nazly I've had anaesthetic at the dentists when pregnant, had some work done for a broken tooth as well when I was expecting ds1 and a temporary filling with ds2 and it was fine. Luckily I had that done in the UK as there is no equivalent to NHS dentistry here, only private and it is very expensive - no free dental care for pregnant women in NZ :(

isitme1 · 31/03/2014 10:55

Dont I hope you dont need dental treatment this time sounds expensive!

Ive been poorly again :( up all night with diarrhoea, now stomach and back hurt and I feel shivery and have slight temp :(
