topmammy I was 19 weeks with DS so you can expect the first faint kicks soon. Those fluttery feelings are your baby though, so try to stop worrying. I'm 15+3 and felt my first flutter earlier when I haven't been laying quietly in bed.

coolcat that man sounds like such an arse, hope you're ok now and not too shaken by it.

Will anyone else have three under three? I'm starting to wonder how on earth I'm going to cope!

dontevenblink · 29/03/2014 20:54

weebairn I've got 24 months between dc1 and 2, and 23 months between dc2 and 3. I didn't buy a double when dc2 was born as dd loved to walk everywhere, I tried a buggy board on the back of the pram. However, I did a lot of walking and dd started trying to run off all the time (think that's 2 year olds for you Grin ) so we ended up buying a double after all when dc2 was about 2 months old after all! Was great for storing all the extra stuff in even when she didn't sit in it though :) When dc3 was born we had just moved to NZ so I insisted dh treat me to a new pushchair :) as we didn't have a car for a while so I was walking miles, I got a Mountain Buggy Duet which is a side by side double but is the same width as a single buggy.
I have seen a lot of people here using a sling and a single buggy so I definitely think it is doable to not have a double, suppose it depends on your kids and also how long you feel comfortable carrying the sling - I had a C-section with dc3 and would have struggled I think. There will be a gap of 2 years 5 months between dc3 and 4 which seems huge to me Grin so I'm debating whether I can get away with putting a carrycot on my single Mountain Buggy, or if I'll still need the double...

I have gone off anything sweet this pregnancy, plus a lot of other food. Unfortunately I do feel like burgers, and everytime I walk past Mcdonalds I really want one of their deluxe cheeseburgers (do they do those in UK?) which is not helped by the fact you can get a deluxe cheeseburger meal here for about the equivalent of £2.50... if I do balloon I blame it on the baby's taste buds Grin - to be fair though I don't have much of an appetite otherwise so hopefully won't get too big! I can also get round the Mcdonalds thing by the fact they have proper cafes in them and soft play areas so I can pretend I am just going in for a decaf coffee and the kids to have a run about... Wink

I definitely have a bump now and am having to remove clothes from my wardrobe... I tried a dress on yesterday and when I asked dd (5) what she thought she said "people will say, oh look at that fat lady"!!!!! I took the dress off and will not be putting it on again.... in my defence I am only a size 10!

coolcat hope you are ok x

Nazly · 29/03/2014 23:26

Thanks Tea &
topmumy, I just asked the very same question you asked about movement... Which tea answered

Movement : It is so funny, as if magic happened, as soon as I nagged here about not feeling the baby, I have started feeling movements since middle of night last night; it is now a little different than just feeling gas bubbles, and it I only feel it occasionally when sitting or lying down, but tea, it is not very low down for me (previously I felt something not knowing if it was gas or baby very down, but now it is higher... Hope that's natural??)

FB: I was in another antenatal forum before this, as soon as fb started the thread died away... But I am open to it if you all go for it,,,

Moisturiser : I read in a book that there is not much these could do for stretch mark and it is all genetic if you get marks or not... But before I read it I bought coco butter from Body Shop which feels and smells great, I bought it cause my friend swear by it... But am lazy with using it regularly...

Coolcat hope you are OK...

dontevenblink · 29/03/2014 23:37

I've got loads of stretch marks from my pregnancies, I got some when I grew during puberty so knew I was prone to them so had no chance! I did use bio oil and different creams with my first pregnancy, but didn't make any difference so gave up after that! I think its a genetics thing. They've faded mostly now, apart from a few new ones I got with dc3 and are just silvery now. I was never one for a bikini so not too bothered about them Grin

isitme1 · 30/03/2014 08:21

Im another with stretch marks.
My mum got them and sis so I blame the genes.

I did feel something a few weeks ago and nothing since Confused but I know baby is ok as we heard heartbeat on Thursday.

Dh and the boys took me out for mothers day last night.
Dh asker ds where should we go and ds told dh and we had a wonderful meal! We went yesterday as it was dh day off and tonight would be tooo busy!

happy mothers day to everyone!!

cookielove · 30/03/2014 08:46

coolcat sorry I completely missed your post, I know the frustration of being hit by udiot drivers. The best thing you can do is pass his info on to your insurance, explain un detail exactly what happened and hope he gas a back bone! Do you have protected no claims bonus?

weebairn · 30/03/2014 08:50

Thanks dontevenblink. I was fortunate enough to have a straightforward delivery last time and was using a sling fine from day one and walking good distances pretty quickly. Fingers crossed for a repeat!

I didn't get any stretch marks last pregnancy (though I have a few from puberty) - I didn't use any creams at all - I think it's just random. I had quite a small bump though.

rockin20s · 30/03/2014 09:23

I'm lying here in bed and I definitely have a bump! Ah

Happy mothers day, have guilted dh into getting me breakfast in bed! He might even stretch to a card too as I was very upset when he insisted that this is not my first mothers day as the baby isn't born yet!

I haven't drank wine in 4 months! This IS my first mothers day!!

BexBoo12 · 30/03/2014 09:55

Rockin my DH said the same, I was devastated! He said technically I'm not a mum yet Blush

bugoven · 30/03/2014 10:49

rockin your post made me laugh so much. I am in the same boat being told that baby can give me a card properly next year (OH obviously anticipating a very advanced child who can shop for, purchase, write and deliver a card).

I have not had pate for 4 months and I threw up every day for 12 weeks.... this is my first Mother's Day! Grin

weebairn · 30/03/2014 10:52

haha! I had a little card from my toddler and a cuppa & nice leisurely read in bed this morning :)

CumbrianExile · 30/03/2014 11:21

Lol. My DH pretty much said the same thing. But my mother is as daft as I (we?) am and sent me a card from the bump Grin

rockin20s · 30/03/2014 11:33

Oh Cumbrian that's sweet, I did get a bagel, cream cheese and smoked salmon for breakfast after a dulled for a bit. But he insisted on saying this is an early mother's say breakfast as it should be next year.
We are both very stubborn!!

isitme1 · 30/03/2014 11:36

Dh said personally he thinks all mothers should be loved every day of the year rather than just mothers day.

These are hiswords 'so rather than loving mums everyday they are nice on one day and the rest of the time? Are they bastards towards them?'
Hes not from here lol so hes still getting used to everything but he does have a valid point.

I read somewhere that mothers day comes from a time when young people took their mums to church on a Sunday rather than mums taking them hence mothers day
dont want to piss on anyones parade

Bananapickle · 30/03/2014 12:20

It's quite funny because I just asked my DH whether he would have done something if Mother's Day had fallen when I was pregnant with our toddler and he decided he probably wouldn't have done. I did also point out to him that although I got a lovely card from my DD I haven't had anything from bump!!
I think it is very sweet that some of you have had something from your partners today and I don't think there's anything wrong with making an extra special effort on a given day to let someone know they are valued and loved.
But then again I'm a big softie!! :-)

lilone1234 · 30/03/2014 12:21

isitme Does your DH think the same about father's day? Just out of interest!

My DP has gone home to his mother today for mother's day, leaving me alone to do all the cleaning and food shopping, so certainly not mother's day for me! This was after coming in drunk from football last night! Angry

isitme1 · 30/03/2014 12:48

Lilone yep he does.
I still get him something small last year I got him a cup with ds on it which ds loves so he uses it lol.
he doesn't like the fuss around his birthday either as he never celebrated it until we got together. No one in his family do birthdays they don't realise when it is as they are pretty poor and they are in a 3rd world country. Dh prefers meals out to materialistic things. We never go without just appreciate things more.

lilone do the same on fathers day Grin

lilone1234 · 30/03/2014 12:56

haha good idea! It's easy to forget that not everyone has the same beliefs about mothers day/fathers day/birthdays. I suppose in this country it's just a habit of something we do!

Nazly · 30/03/2014 14:17

Confused My back tooth just broke! Broke into half!!!! I am starting to feel the pain little by little .... :( Does anybody know what sort of pain killer is allowed for toothaches during pg?

I am so worried :( am not registered for NhS dentists around our house yet (how long does it take to register??)

Lottiedoubtie · 30/03/2014 14:40

Nazly, poor you that's rubbish. I'm not a doctor but I think it's only paracetamol unless you see a doctor/dentist. The good news is it's just a form to register for a NHS dentist and shouldn't stop you getting an appt ASAP.

Bananapickle · 30/03/2014 15:20

Nazly you don't have to be registered to get emergency dental treatment and as your pregnant it'll be free anyway (assuming you've got your car thing).
If you go on the NHS website you can find your local services there.
Hope the pain isn't too bad. You can take the odd dose of ibuprofen but it's not reccomended as an ongoing pain killer in pregnancy.

Bananapickle · 30/03/2014 15:20

*card not car!

WishUponAStar88 · 30/03/2014 15:26

Oh dear nazly hope it's not too painful. In terms of the card I don't have one yet but took my green pregnancy notes and they didn't question it at all and there was no charge

Nazly · 30/03/2014 16:48

Thank you ladies, just tolerated it till now without painkiller but going for paracetamol in a little while as its getting worse... I was hopping local anaesthetic would be Ok while pg but will try not to use any then... until tomorrow and I can call some local dentists to see if they see me quickly on NHS... The tooth is pretty bad, big decay and cut in half, it wouldn't be a quick fix... More like a crown or something... If not implant :(

If you've been to dr since being pg do you know if doctors are allowed to inject anaesthetic while working on your teeth if you are pregnant? I hope they can do local xrays too? What a bad luck :I

On a positive side it could be free, I've got my card, just not sure if it covers extensive treatments like this one too... ?

Bananapickle · 30/03/2014 17:06

I'm almost certain the card covers all dentist work however serious because your teeth can go to pot when pregnant. Hope you manage to get an appointment soon.
