Oh I didn't realise there was a postnatal section on here, that's good. I don't mind either way really. Tend to agree though, MN is more user friendly than fb for conversation.

So its settled then? We stay here?

I don't 'do' facebook, I'd much rather stay on here....looks it will be a much smaller group Sad

I think FB could be good for baby pics etc but definitely easier to chat here! Can't we do both?

BooSurprise · 29/03/2014 15:57

I'm up for a FB group, my last antenatal thread had one and we used both, pretty much up until we all popped, and then our post natal thread seemed to fizzle out due to no time, but our FB group is still going strong, FB is easier for somethings we've done meet-ups and secret Santas and stuff, that wouldn't be all that practical on MN, depends how much other info you want to share I guess. It's a private FB group too.
Shush don't tell DH but I've just brought a new double, it's a baby jogger city mini, and I got a great deal on Boots, not quite sure where I'm going to hide it for now tho- I do have a fab off road double, but it's very heavy and difficult to fold for everyday use, so I think this will be much better, and as the age gap will only be 14 months I'm sure it will get lots of use, oh and I LOVE a bargain!

TheOnlySeven · 29/03/2014 16:22

boo my age gap will be 16 months between DD2 and this one :)

I'm happy with fb as long as enough of us agree to stay here, which seems to be the case. My group with DD1 set up a fb group, there are around 4 ladies who only post on the fb group, most who post on both, around 10 who still post religiously on MN but don't really bother with fb (me included) and another 10 who are often on fb but pop onto the thread every now and then. What's really nice is that our DCs are now over 2 but because the MN group has kept going and we talk about anything and everything which isn't possible on fb we're now all really close, I'd consider them to be among my best friends.

I chatted to some girls on here last pregnancy and we ended up forming a facebook group - but it was after we'd been talking to each other for over a year, several months after the babies all arrived, and we all knew each other very well and were very close by that point. I don't think I'd be wanting to join one here at this point at least, no offence, just felt like talking a bit more anonymously/privately about the current pregnancy! Facebook is better for pics but here is better for conversation. I don't really have any pics to share at this point unless you want to see my toddler or my lack of bump! But I have no problem if others set one up. I'll stay here for now though, I think.

I think the reason postnatal groups fizzle out is because people struggle to use a keyboard while holding a baby!!

Boo and seven - I will have exactly 2 years between my two (literally my due date is DD's birthday!) - I'm hoping to get away without a double buggy. Hopeful? Insane?

I barely used a buggy until after 6 months with DD so I'm thinking buggy and sling and by 2.5 she can walk!? (She's a very good walker already, but tends to wander!)

So shall we agree to do fb on the agreement that the thread mostly takes priority and doesn't get abandoned. I'll still definitely be spending most of my time here, and will continue posting for as long as there remains someone who wants to read it.

Yes or no?

Haha bit chilly here for a BBQ! I don't snack too much really, I just seem to eat lots at meal times because I feel sooo hungry! Hmm Baby fancied a McDonald's for lunch today too, oops Blush

Seven, your suggestion sounds good to me, though I don't know if I'll join the fb group straight away :)

Don't worry everyone would still like us to all post on here too just thought Facebook would be a second place to post occasionally too :) but totally understand if some people don't want to join.

All I want all the time is chocolate, cakes and sweets at the moment! They had sold out of the red liquorice in the pick and mix section last week at Tescos, and desperately wanted some! My MIL managed to get me a massive pot of some elsewhere and dropped them into my work for me the next day I was so happy!

I'm a bit weird in that I eat my way through the first trimester with no sickness at all. Then it's now in my second trimester that food just does not interest me at all.
So I do snack on the odd thing, mainly Mccoys crisps (salt and vinegar) and apples. Not sure of the nutritional value of that combination!!
According to my scales I've lost a pound, not sure how that's happened but I'm not complaining :-)

I really enjoy the conversation on here and wouldn't want to loose that. The only negative I have with MN is that I struggle to read/add comments on my phone, hence my very intermittent posting, as tend to only post when at home - but I'm happy with that - if you guys don't mind my super long posts! FB is easier from phone in my opinion, but I quite like the anonymity at this point (that may change as time goes on) and so I think overall, I'd prefer to have just MN at the mo, but if others prefer or want FB too, then I understand but I don't think I'll join just yet.
My nipples feel strange this week - just ultra sensitive, a bit dry and definitely looking darker. I even saw a vein on my leg looking a bit protrudy yesterday. I'm also not sleeping well. Can't explain why. I think I struggle to get comfy. Having vivid dreams too - last night our crazy neighbour stole our garden and fenced it off as her own!
I'm trying to stay exercising, but when I run I feel so heavy and slow it's not that enjoyable. I played tennis this am which I enjoyed, but I missed shots I normally would have got to and I could tell I'm letting down my tennis buddies with my rubbishness. 15 weeks today and bump is very visible in most clothes. Start new job on Monday. If it wasn't for the new job, I'd be really chuffed to have a bump and be showing already. I want to tell my new manager asap, but she is on annual leave for my first week.
I mostly snack on fruit, cheese and nuts.

Went to go for a swim this morning and crazy old guy crashed into me at a roundabout and then started shouting at me for crying. Not fun. He then shouted constantly that it was my fault (I was in left lane going straight over, he was in either skipped a light or was in the right lane turning left) and refused to give me details until I hailed a passing police car. He then phoned me after to shout at me that it was my fault. Have a big dent in my car but can't really do anything about it as he denies responsibility. Venting.... Gah.

Didn't go swimming. Went for retail therapy instead (after much crying, cups of tea, and chocolate).

I am so jealous of all of you, i have such a tummy it feels like I'll never have a bump. Although I do think my belly is getting bigger even though I haven't put om weight!

Report
BooSurprise · 29/03/2014 20:07

coolcat what a nasty piece of work! I guess you have to just give the details to your insurance company and let them sort out who was at fault, did you have any witnesses?
weebairn I think no double is doable, if you have a walker- my now 3.5 yr old would much rather ride and was a runner, so I needed one last time, I think it really depends on the child, and only you really know you'll need one.
For us this time I don't foresee my current 9 month old to even be walking by then, so for naps etc I think it will be easier with a double, although I do plan on slinging this baby as well.

coolcat That man sounds really nasty! Hope you're feeling better now. If you have a dent in the side of your car, surely that suggests that he drove in to you, and therefore is his fault? What a pain though!

I think facebook group would be nice later on - especially when we have baby pics to share.

Report
whiteblossom · 29/03/2014 20:33

oh coolcat that's bad luck! Ignore the old man, let the insurance company deal with him and the police. He sounds like a bully. I'd have opted for chocolate too.

I like the conversation on here too Smile

my bump is huge today. Im hoping some of it is a poo bump Grin three more weeks before Im willing to out the bump- Am I weird wanting to wait? IT varies between looking pg or a fat beer belly, so I think I want it to be clearly a pg belly first.

Report
topmammy · 29/03/2014 20:36

Cookie, my bump just looks like I have a fat belly to me! I hope it becomes more bump like soon. Although DH assures me the angle of it etc etc is not the same as the normal podge haha.

I saw a pregnant woman today in Tesco who had a nice big bump. I was quite envious actually... is there such a thing as bump envy?! Shock

I'm sure we've mentioned this before but I've forgotten.. can I ask those of you who are already mummys, when did you first feel definite movement/kicks? I'm 18+4 and I think I have felt fluttering but still nothing really clear and I'm starting to feel worried impatient.
