Had my 19 week scan this morning and all is good :) Baby was very accommodating too for the sonographer and turned over when she needed it to - hopefully the baby will stay well behaved! We didn't find out the sex as we want to have another surprise, all my friends were really disappointed we didn't find out though, they've been on at me to find out as they seem more desperate than us to find out Grin Part of me would obviously like to find out, but a bigger part wants a surprise.

I was really worried because I hadn't really felt movements, but the sonographer confirmed that I've got a high anterior placenta which she says will be cushioning all the movements - she was struggling to see the baby's face at one point as it was so pressed up against the placenta!

I'm still in my pre-pregnancy underwired bras, as I'm on my 4th pregnancy now my breasts don't seem to change too much... I'll probably change to maternity ones soon though as my bump gets bigger. For those with bigger busts (like myself) that don't want to give up your underwire, I've had these bras before and found them really comfortable www.figleaves.com/uk/product/ANT-5068/Anita-Maternity-Smooth-Underwired-Nursing-Bra/?size=&colour=Black

topmammy · 15/04/2014 11:01

It says on my notes that I have a high anterior placenta too. I'm 21w today and I'm feeling some little kicks more often now but only when I'm laying on my back usually. Kinda wish I could feel more though as its comforting to feel baby and I start to worry if I haven't felt anything for a while.

Slept with my dream genii pillow again last night and it did actually make me stay on my left side all night as I woke up with a sore left ear!

Wish I could do some painting/decorating as I'm off on Easter hols and want to do something useful but DH won't let me for obvious reasons. He can't do it yet either as he's working. V. Frustrating.

Good luck to those with consultant appts soon :) I'm sure you'll all be fine.

Teabiscuits · 15/04/2014 12:04

Hello all, hope everyone is ok.

missingcaffiene so glad to hear your boss took it well. I had to tell mine I was aleady pregnant again when I went back to work after maternity leave - it's so nerve racking! Don't worry about what anyone else thinks, its their problem not yours.

noodle hope everything ok with consultant. I have consultant today too but because of complications in last pregnancy. I am already geared up for a fight because of all the things you hear!

If DH and I aren't happy with them we will be changing hospitals - have completely lost faith in ours after past experience. Problem is, the other choice is twice as far away.
I was always so proud of the NHS until recently. Now if we had the money I'd be going private like a shot!
To be fair, they did keep both of us alive (just). They did bugger all else last time though!

ilovemonstersInc · 15/04/2014 12:10

Tea its worth to go the extra distance if your not happy with current hosp. My local hosp is 15mins away but the hosp im at now can take over an hour to get to in traffic and 30 hour no traffic.

Im on a bit of a budget so cant afford the really expensive bras but will look at the link thank you. Just need the extra support that wont do my shoulders in!

Glad to hear the boys are doing well kicks x

Noodledoodledoo · 15/04/2014 18:04

Thanks for the hand holding this morning - absolutely nothing to worry about. Am also seriousl impressed I was out and have made future appointments before my appointment should have started today!!

Extra scan booked and then BP monitoring from 36 weeks onwards, and a test for GD to be sorted but other than that nothing different to a normal pregnancy.

Huge weight off my shoulders and got to get another little peep at the little one inside - although not a great pic the heartbeat was really obvious.

Also went for a wander round town - hubby told me to leave the plumber to it!!

lilone1234 · 15/04/2014 18:35

noodle I'm glad it went well!

Back from my scan now, and I am now team pink!!! We're both very happy and excited! Everything seems to be growing fine, such a relief. Got a nice long look as the technician had a trainee with him who also had a go. So excited, and so proud of my little girl for growing so well!

topmammy · 15/04/2014 19:05

Glad it all went well noodle! :)

CumbrianExile · 15/04/2014 19:39

Thanks for the advice on the bra's guys. I still fit fairly well in my current ones, but there is a little overspill starting, so guess I will have to get some new ones soon.

duzzlightyearsmum · 15/04/2014 19:41

Hi its been a while since I posted due to me and DS both having had some health issues but finally seem to be coming out the other side so I'm back :)

My consultants appointment went well the other week. Glad to see other people also having good appointments!

Got my scan tomorrow :D will hopefully find out the baby's gender so I'll come back with the news some time tomorrow evening :)

Hope everyone is keeping well xxx

cookielove · 15/04/2014 19:59

Hello all, we flipped a coin today to decide whether we are gonna find out the sex tomorrow! They probably won't even tell us, but the coin said find out so we will!

My boobs haven't changed at all but my tummy is pushed out and much much firmer! Look more pregnant instead of fat!

OneInAMinion · 16/04/2014 07:29

Thanks Lucid Smile and congrats lilone on your pink news!

cookielove · 16/04/2014 07:48

I'm wondering if I should go bra shopping my bra's have never fit me well! I haven't changed in size (teeny tiny) but then I should be comfortable.

Lottiedoubtie · 16/04/2014 09:16

I grew out of my bras at about six weeks, I'm so jealous of all of you who 'stayed the same'!!

Nazly · 16/04/2014 11:18

Hi Ladies,

A question from those who love reading: any good suggestion for parenting books during the first couple of years?
The only book read till now is first time mum: guide to enjoying and surviving first year... It is a very light read baby manual !! I wanted to start there as haven't been around babies for years and years... Now i am after some better more in depth parenting books

I remember there was some discussions here earlier on, but can't seem to find the posts, don't even know if it was this thread...

I am going to be on a train journey for 6 hours ish tomorrow, would love to have something baby related to read...

Thanks a lot for your help Thanks

P.s. I was a size C now a size D, I have always been in wired and affordable bras, I am now worried about what you are saying that these could be harmful...

P.s2. I am also missing from stats, although was in there earlier on... Nazly 2nd Sept, blue ; should I add myself back in?

BexBoo12 · 16/04/2014 11:27

Nazly, add yourself back in Grin as for books, I have no clue, think the recommendations may have been on a previous thread as I can't find them either so will be intrigued to see what others come back with. I've got 'what to expect when you're expecting' very heavy reading and I'm not much enjoying it. I actually use it more as a point of reference if I have a question to be honest.

topmammy · 16/04/2014 11:40

I've got First Time Parent by Lucy Atkins. It's not a massively heavy read but I've found it clear and informative so far, just what I need really or my head would explode trying to take in too much info!

lucidlady · 16/04/2014 13:07

The Mumsnet parenting books are good.

Other than that, it really depends what you are looking for?

polkadotdelight · 16/04/2014 13:28

Oh god, I hadn't even thought of buying a book! I've barely read the massive thing the midwife gave me!

petitverdot · 16/04/2014 13:59

Please can I join in? I was on October thread but haven't been keeping up with that either - and anyway I'm due 26th September officially Smile Got my 20-week scan on 15th May - excited! - and we'll definitely be finding out the sex then x

lilone1234 · 16/04/2014 16:52

Welcome petitverdot!

With regards to books - i'm reading 'What to expect when you're expecting' which I wouldn't really recommend. I'm also reading 'Bumpology' which is essentially a summary of research about pregnancy/birth which is interesting but not really much you can practically use.

I'm thinking i'm going to get 'Ina May's guide to breastfeeding' and 'Ina May's guide to childbirth' or 'The good birth companion' as they all have good reviews of amazon and are two subjects I definitely feel I should swot up on!

cookielove · 16/04/2014 17:06

Hello hello hello, had my 17 week scan this morning and we are team blue :D
