The bra I got recently from mothercare is non wired, but I didn't even realise until I got it home. It's supportive and comfy so im going to stick with non wired for pregnancy and nursing.

I've got a thing for ice cubes at the mo. Really felt like just eating one so stupidly got it straight out of the freezer and then got it stuck onto my lip and tongue! Cue me with my face under the tap trying to prise it off. Not my best moment lol Not sure if I could get away with baby brain on this one Blush

Teabiscuits · 14/04/2014 22:06

Glad to hear everyone is doing ok apart from all the aches and pains - it sucks but sometimes pregnancy just hurts in my experience - always get checked out if you are worried though.

I have found I like the stretchy over the head type bras while pregnant. They are comfy and stretchy, and I find them easier for breast feeding as you can just pop a boon out the bottom. Probably not supportive enough for bustier ladies though!

I must check out that measuring system - you don't add inches?! Where's my tape measure?!

lucidlady · 14/04/2014 22:27

mammy that made me laugh!

Had lunch with friend today (she was in my NCT group when I was preg with DD) and she had her 3 week old DD2 with her! So cute! I felt soooo broody! Just as well there's one in here eh!

Lovely to hear about all the little blues and pinks! My scan is on 20th - feel v nervous about anomaly tests but sounds like that is completely normal!

I seem to be addicted to exclamation marks ATM....

BexBoo12 · 14/04/2014 22:49

Katherineclover - my bras seem to fit but maybe that's just because I am used to them!! Ha! Must get them measured while I'm off this week.

Ellabella - pains were awful but I've also found my stomach is just painful in general too?? I have no bump yet so midwife thinks my general as aches and pains are the big stretch your uterus does before popping into a bump so we will see if she's right! I also get the pain when I sneeze, midwife tells me our ovaries etc are being stretched to the max at this point and that's what the pain is when we sneeze? Who knows though.

Misog - my boobs haven't changed in size at all!! My nipples are stupidly big though, it's like having two digestives plonked in the middle of my boobs. My nipples are also quite dry. Such a turn on for DH ConfusedShock

I've been sneezing a bit too but it is the time of year when pollen starts flying about and I live in a village surrounded by fields of that yellow oilseed rape stuff so it's probably that for me.

I didn't know our ovaries got stretched too Bex Confused is there anything that doesn't get stretched or squished though I guess! Hope you don't get those pains again, doesn't sound nice.

I think my bump just appeared kinda gradually. I never had a totally flat belly anyway though. As soon as I eat I look about a month further on, it's weird!

Missingcaffeine · 15/04/2014 04:22

Hiya all!
It's been ages since I last posted, but I have read and kept up to date with you all.

top I get that pain all over abdomen when sneezing too - I think it's just everything is stretched and weaker - that's my theory anyway.

My bump suddenly got bigger on Saturday - to the point that I was walking down the high street and caught my reflection in a window and started laughing as I actually look proper pregnant and it's quite surreal to experience this for the first time!

I started pregnancy yoga which I am loving!!

I finally worked up the courage to tell my new boss (started new job 2 weeks ago) who couldn't have reacted better - she just congratulated me and said don't worry, we can plan around it. Still nervous about the wider reactions at work, but I do at least feel very supported. :) such a relief!!

As you may have guessed I can't sleep. It's hard to tell if it's thinking about the new job, or pregnancy. I've just eaten 2 bananas and had a warm milk, and after posting this I'm going to try to go back to bed. I'm hungry a lot, but also get full really quickly.

Regarding bras - the advice is that underwired bras can put pressure on the milk ducts and should be avoided - however as long as an underwired bra is well fitted, it shouldn't put pressure on the milk ducts, and also that this is more of a issue during breast feeding. You should know if a bra is causing a problem as it would be uncomfortable, and if breast feeding, then you would notice if it was affecting your milk ducts. Because I am so uncomfortable doing anything other than lounging in a soft bra, I am planning to continue wearing underwired bras as long as possible. I do wear soft bras at night sometimes, as if my boobs are tender it just gives them extra support - although I've not really needed this since the first trimester. I am starting to have slight overspill, but still in my pre-pregnancy bras which are still comfy, but I think I need a fitting soon.
By the way, I would totally recommend Bravissimo for any bigger busted ladies - I've used it for years, but prior to this I'd been fitted in various well-regarded bra shops but when I went to Bravissimo they told me I'm a completely different bra size and the difference in comfort was AMAZING! I'd been measured as around a 34DD elsewhere, but I got put in a 30F and suddenly I could walk with almost zero bounce and pure comfort! It is on the pricey side (my favourite bra is £26), but I think a well-fitted bra is priceless for the bigger busted lady.

Still not feeling movements (17+2). Still not sure whether to find out gender - can't decide!

Sorry for long post again! Back off to bed again now.

Bananapickle · 15/04/2014 06:57

My boobs are already huge this pregnancy. I'm wearing the bras I was wearing at the end of my pregnancy with DD. My DH is obviously loving it but I'm just worried about how much bigger I'm going to get. I no t used to them being big as I'm normally a 32B.
In fact everything seems a lot bigger this time, I am definitely not enjoying the bigger bum. The bump is ok though, just wish everything round it would shrink a little!
I was always advices to go for no underwire when pregnant, hadn't realised people continued with them. Will have to get measured soon I think as I'm starting to feel tight in the ones I'm wearing. Mothercare do fittings I think so might try there and get bras that can carry through to nursing.
Have a good day everyone.

HippyJess · 15/04/2014 07:44

I'm of the understanding that they advise no underworld because a lot of people wear them in the wrong size and that can cause issues with blockages and pain etc. when pregnant and breastfeeding. So if they're fitted correctly it should be fine!

I appear to have shrunk slightly around the ribs but my cup size is now too small Hmm I'm already a 34EE, I do NOT need bigger boobs! Off to Bravissimo to get re-fitted next week :(

HippyJess · 15/04/2014 07:45

Underwires, not underworld! Hmm

weebairn · 15/04/2014 08:12

My boobs have gone up a size now - 32E to 32F. Last pregnancy they grew immediately, and considerably more, so I'm quite glad it's taken longer and not been quite so, um, cartoonish.

OneInAMinion · 15/04/2014 08:27

Hi ladies, long time no speak. I'm just catching up & jealously wishing that my boobs were getting bigger, but they're not Grin In fact, I still don't look particularly pregnant at 17+2, but I'm rocking the spots, constipation & cramps/aches to prove it!

We received a letter for our IVF appointment yesterday morning. Whilst we were more than happy to go down that route, it's nice to not need it & to free the space up for someone else.

Just plotting what DIY we need to do to get the house ready for the baby & how best to use the space in our 3-storey house. Friends seem to think it's mad that we'll be sleeping on a different floor to the baby, but it seems fine to me. It's not like we won't hear it & it feels strange to give up our huge master bedroom for a smaller room upstairs. Does anyone else have a 3-storey house?

ilovemonstersInc · 15/04/2014 08:43

All the ladies with big boobs where do you get your bras from? Im still wearing under wired and will most likely Continue to.

:( ds2 wont sleep. Hes up most of the night with trapped wind. Made me cry last night and dh took over bless him. Even though he has a double shift today so he can come to hosp tomorrow with us. He would rather drive us than the 3 of us going on the bus.

ToriBeth · 15/04/2014 08:48

Hi ladies, I’m new on this thread but thought I’d introduce myself. This is my first pregnancy, my EDD is the 17th September and I’m team Yellow but that might change come my 20 week scan & I can’t wait to see our little pipsqueak again! Hope your all well. pregnancy has been very kind to me so far with just queasies in first trimester. Now I have a lot of headaches and some nosebleeds but blood pressure was fine when i saw the midwife at 16 weeks. More worried about getting bigger as have two slipped discs in my back :(

Noodledoodledoo · 15/04/2014 09:19

Hi ladies. Feeling really rubbish this morning as I have a consultant appointment today due to weight and age and am dreading it.

Not sure why - I have had no issues at all with the pregnancy, feel great, a few stretching pains but thats about it and a little bit of Carparl Tunnel Syndrome but have got myself into a real state about it all.

Husband left for work just after a random spate of crying from me and I have banned him from coming home to come with me as I am just being silly!

Anyone else had to have consultant appointments?

lucidlady · 15/04/2014 09:20

oneinaminion we have a 3 storey with the master bedroom on 3rd floor (it's huge) but we sleep on 2nd floor with DD in her own room on same floor. We'll go back to original layout when this one is a bit older, but for now it's just easier having everyone on same floor for those middle of the night crying incidents (of which we had lots and lots)! At the end of the day it's about what works for you xx

ilovemonstersInc · 15/04/2014 09:46

Noodle its most likely going to be because of age/weight so they can make sure all is ok. Certain ages/ weight can cause extra risk factors but don't worry as you've had healthy pregnancies in the past and they want the same

Noodledoodledoo · 15/04/2014 09:51

This is my first pregnancy ilovemonstersInc so probably why I am dreading it. I think its because I am generally not worried about medical appointments that I am not dealing with the feelings so well as they are out of character. Feeling a little out of my comfort zone!!

Logical brain in and I know I am fine, I have a BMI of 37 but am working on it, and am generally fit and eat healthily. Need to stop reading peoples posts about nightmare consultant appointments!!!

KatharineClover · 15/04/2014 09:53

noodle hope all goes well today for your consultant appointment. I'm sure they will just discuss options with you and give some recommendations, hopefully nothing too worrying.
I have one for May to discuss my first birth and plan for this one - which will have to be in the consultant led unit. I am taking DH because I want him to have a chance to ask anything he needs (as he was a bit upset about last time), and also to support me as I can get a little steamrollered by anyone in authority. I feel a little stressed out about mine too. Can you plan something nice for afterwards e.g. a drink and a baby magazine in a coffee shop or a little look around the shops? Xx

ilovemonstersInc · 15/04/2014 09:57

For high bmi they like to make sure everything is ok so hopefully nothing to worry about

yay katharine you got a consultant appointment! I see mine tomorrow after scan and hope to get a birth plan made!

kicksandgiggles · 15/04/2014 09:58

I second the recommendation about Bravissimo. It's the only place I've ever gotten really supportive, properly fitting bras, and I won't go anywhere else now. Be prepared that they will put you in a bigger size than other places (I'm in a JJ!), but they change your appearance and posture so much. Plus, they have the prettiest nursing bras I've seen in bigger sizes (Hot Milk do really nice ones in smaller sizes).

And do be careful about underwire. One of my friends just got mastitis from wearing an underwire bra while breastfeeding.

I had another scan yesterday (at 19 weeks), which confirmed that the twins are definitely boys! The growth patterns for both babies is absolutely normal, so nothing to worry about at the moment.

ilovemonstersInc · 15/04/2014 09:58

Ooo noodle something nice to do after is a must! We go for a meal most times after hosp appointments as ds1 will eat something!

lilone1234 · 15/04/2014 10:14

Katharine That's a good idea to plan something nice to do afterwards.

noodle I have had to see consultant for high BMI too. I suppose with me I had mixed emotions because I felt that if I was seeing consultant rather than midwife then there was a higher risk because of me and so felt guilty/defensive/worried. Also, I have found that what consultants actually say/do is no different to midwives, but they are not as good as communicating it which when you are already emotional can be difficult.

Of course, it all depends on who you see, they may be great. It's all in place for a reason though so I suppose you have to try and go with the flow. This is advice that has been given to me as I am so easily wound up right now and objectively what happens and what they say is no where near as bad as it feels to me!

lilone1234 · 15/04/2014 10:16

kicks Glad to hear your boys are doing well!

Noodledoodledoo · 15/04/2014 10:20

Had plans for something nice but due to a nightmare plumber I am going to have to come straight home - was planning a mooch around town but although he was supposed to be done in a day yesterday he is back today but not showing up till 11 so won't be done before my appointment.

That frustration is probably making me worse!! Not had a day of my holiday without things like this and in school for the next two days as well for Yr 11 revision.

As I said when my logical brain kicks in I am sure it will all be fine - just expecting a lecture on my weight once again although I have battled with it for the past 10 years and been to the doctors for help repeatedly but nothing happens!
