I quite like pink but won't be going too overboard on it! It's been such an exhausting day, I'm knackered! Nearly thought I wouldn't find out the sex as baby was being naughty and lying in an awkward position, and then had her hand over her bits! In fact she was back to back, vertical and looking outwards which I thought was quite funny. I had to go for a walk and have a drink lol.

So relieved she does not have cleft lip like DH was born with. DH was so relieved he was very close to tears which is unusual for him, bless. :)

DownstairsMixUp · 09/04/2014 20:40

Cumbrian I did that with ds1, i only put on 10lbs though in the end so not too bad!

Hi Missing i had an anterior with ds1 to and didn't feel anything till 20 weeks. They said I have it again with this one but I've felt kicks from 15 weeks so i really think they must be wrong?!

Eastwiththem · 09/04/2014 21:08

Hi, another newbie here. I only have one pregnant/parent friend in real life and she recommended I check out out the due date clubs on here.

So... eastwiththem, EDD 18th sept, first baby, team yellow

I'm only getting a bump now at 16 weeks so I'm still in my normal clothes just! I'm really struggling with headaches though, I seem to be getting one everyday and paracetamol isn't touching it. Luckily I'm self employed so I can take it easy when I need to but constant low level pain is really getting me down :(

dontevenblink · 10/04/2014 02:17

Downstairs I had an anterior placenta with my last pregnancy as well as this one, and last time I felt ds kick by around 16 weeks. This time, at 18 weeks I still haven't felt anything, so maybe it depends exactly where the placenta is, I know I heard that they don't grow in the same place twice. (I'm really hoping that's the reason I haven't felt anything - scan next week and I am already worrying)

DownstairsMixUp · 10/04/2014 07:24

dont yeah perhaps, they are meant to move quite a bit aren't they right untill the 20 week scan? It had anterior high on my notes with ds1 and it says anterior high again but I don't see how as I feel the kicks so much earlier and in different places iyswim? The private scan at 17 said it was still anterior though I'm 19 now so perhaps it's had a swift move... no idea Hmm

cookielove · 10/04/2014 08:26

Hello hello hello, midwife tomorrow getting nervous! What do they do?

Also I had my glucose test at 13 weeks, I was told to. Was this to early I think they will make me have another and then a later one to. Hmmmm.

topmammy · 10/04/2014 09:14

I have an anterior high placenta too. Not sure if that explains why I have only felt one kick so far at 20w+2 days. Felt lots of fluttering and bubbles though.

Saw a friend last night, I do see her as one of my closest friends but unless I'm just being a bit sensitive I think the birth horror story she clearly had great delight in telling me about someone she knows from work was a bit cruel to tell your pregnant best friend!!

It'll tell you what she told me so if you'd rather not know then don't read on lol.

Apparently this colleague of hers had liver failure as the baby had pushed her liver right over here so had to be induced, which took 3 days. The drugs made her vomit so she literally couldn't eat or drink for the entire time. Then when it did work, her contractions stopped while pushing so she had to push without them, she tore her ureathra getting baby out, her placenta then got stuck so she spent 5 hours in theatre and the surgeons had blood literally up to here trying to get it out of her.

Am I being too sensitive? I just felt in a happy little bubble after finding out I'm having a little girl and I can't help feeling she was doing her best to pop it!

DownstairsMixUp · 10/04/2014 09:56

cookie is it your 16 week one? If so at mine they just gave me my blood test results back and listened to babies heartbeat.

top See this is why I think mine isn't anterior high at all as I feel kicks all the time (especially laying down) and they are big movements, not bubbles or anything you could even slightly get confused with wind/gas etc. I think the story is a little inapprpriate tbh so I don't think you are being sensitive. People LOVE to share horror stories when they find out you are pregnant. Confused

rockin20s · 10/04/2014 09:59

top i plan i stopping people in their tracks and saying that i will research birth stories myself and don't need to hear a third-hand account of someone else's birth. I will be staying positive! really dont understand why people feel the need to tell you these things if you have not asked!!!

ps: if this story is true then the hospital should be sued!

isitme1 · 10/04/2014 10:08

Good luck cookie hope all is ok

top I think that's a little ott tbh. Birth stories are like Chinese whispers (is that what its called?) sometimes, my dm would tell everyone birth story from ds1 and would add her own bits in Hmm so when I got pnd I blamed her for making everything sound so bad. Thankfully with ds2 she didn't really say much to anyone about it.

Think ds1 has uti.. need to get him checked.

VaselineOnToast · 10/04/2014 10:28

Katharine Autumnal colours and primary colours would be my preferred ones too, for sure

Congratulations to everyone who's had their scan and has found out the sex! I prob won't know until after everyone else since mine is not until the start of my 22nd week... that's what I get for planning a holiday before getting pregnant.

kicksandgiggles · 10/04/2014 12:20

It's exciting to hear all the gender news Smile

I've just worked out that I'm at the halfway point (if not further), as I'm 18 and a half weeks pregnant, and the latest I'll be able to go is 37 weeks. This pregnancy is certainly going faster than my first!

misog2000 · 10/04/2014 12:53

Had my 16 wk appointment today cookie, she tested my urine, listened to baby's heartbeat (lovely midwife let me record it for dh too) and just had a general chat. Got my blood results back too - all fine.

Asked her about the pregnancy vitamins (really don't want to take them due to IBS) and she said if I'm eating well (being married to a chef tends to guarantee that!) then not to worry about taking anything. My iron was good on booking in so she isn't concerned. Thought it would be ok, but feel a bit better having a professional confirm it.

Good luck for tomorrow cookie

Dazedconfused · 10/04/2014 13:47

had my 16 wks appointment yesterday. hearing the heartbeat was amazing. seems to be a show off I'm growing as found the heartbeat straight away (and at 12 week scan was lying in perfect position). Wish I had thought to record it for dh was just quite overwhelmed

Mummyto3tobe · 10/04/2014 15:22

Do you all live in England? i live in wales and they have changed the rules now so we cant hear the heartbeat until the 28 week appointment which is pretty crap, i got to hear baby's heartbeat on monday though at our gender scan so that made up for it :-)

topmammy · 10/04/2014 16:28

Yes I'm in England mummy, although the MW at my 16w appt did say they don't offer listening to baby's heartbeat routinely at that point anymore. I managed to get her to do it anyway though by saying I wouldn't panic if she couldn't find it. May be some MWs are more by the book than others when it comes to these things.

isitme1 · 10/04/2014 17:26

Ooo k+g im at half way point too. Im 20weeks today. Will ask to be induced before term I think.

how is everyone?

CoolCat2014 · 10/04/2014 18:52

Had 20 week scan today, team pink! So excited :)

Mummy - I'm in Wales too, and not heard the heartbeat yet MW said she'd do at 22 weeks.

misog2000 · 10/04/2014 20:07

Dazed confused I wouldn't have thought of it either, it was her suggestion (a very good one I thought).

I think it's standard in my area to listen at 16 weeks as there is a list if your appts and what will happen at each one in my antenatal notes folder and it definitely says listen to heartbeat on the 16 wk one. The mw did say not to worry if she could to find it straight away but she had a feel of my belly and got it first time, weird to think they can feel that much this early on.

Exciting for those of you having scans already, I will probably be one of the last, not finding out what it is though, decided to go for a surprise (it's my first so either would be great)

Nazly · 10/04/2014 20:11

Misscaff I very much fee, for you, hope you can share the news with work soon... Don't worry about them judging you, just explain to them what you told us... You may be surprised how some people can be understanding... With dh I am very similar to you, my dh contract ends on Sept exactly and at this point there is still no immediate replacement for it as yet...

Congrats to all pinks :) I thinks pinks are taking over little by little x :)

I have not started buying anything yet... Was waiting for next scan to start, but the easter sales tempt me to start ... Don't want to miss all offers...

mamamoomin2 · 10/04/2014 20:22

Thanks for HB replies ladies! I've not been on since I posted so soz for reply delay. It's hard to fit it all in with toddler, crazy busy job and eating!

Didn't make it to HB group due to last min rubbish cropping up..but goingto go to may one.

I really hope that the cat doesn't leg it with a trailing placenta. Ha!

vichw · 10/04/2014 22:05

Hi ladies. Have been scanning this thread and would love to join please.

Vichw EDD 12.09.14. Team yellow until scan on 29.4.14

Looking forward to being part of a group and sharing stories and giggles Smile

Teabiscuits · 10/04/2014 22:10

Congrats to everyone on gender news! We will hopefully find out on the 25th. We didn't want to find out with the last one, but there was no way we could have mistaken his willy for anything else on the scan! We still pretended we didn't know, and then I kind of regretted it because the only unisex clothes I could find were boring white and grey. No yellow, red or green in sight Sad .
This time we are far too skint to not find out, luckily there has been a boy and girl born recently in the family, so I can go begging for clothes for either.
Agree on horrific birth stories. Why is it that there's always a sister of a friend of a friend who's first came out sideways on the bathroom floor or something. Childbirth is a beautiful thing. Beautiful, but not necessarily pretty....

Dazedconfused · 11/04/2014 08:56

I live in Scotland mummyto3tobe and I think it really depends on who you get. my sil and cousin both got told not until the 24weeks but my mw volunteered it abd my other cousin had it at 16wks and we all live in Edinburgh so it is hit or miss I think.

isitme1 · 11/04/2014 09:19
