You don't really need to take a multivitamin if you eat ok (and the pregnancy ones are stupid prices)
They advise folic acid until 13 weeks and vitamin d throughout, the rest is just marketing in my opinion!
Obviously if your blood tests show you are anaemic you'd be advised to take iron, but there's not any need to otherwise.

OneInAMinion · 09/04/2014 07:25

Random question ladies...has anyone picked up their 2nd bounty pack from Asda, instead of Boots or Superdrug? I was wondering what their extra free gift is & if it's worth the trek (as there isn't an Asda by me)?

DownstairsMixUp · 09/04/2014 07:26

The nearest kiddicare to me is Thurrock (which is 60 miles away Hmm) so never had a chance to go in one! I have a silvercross 3d, it has rubbish reviews on mumsnet but I really like it, very simple to use, steers nicely, much better than the maxi cosi i had for ds1. I have a good diet for iron i still take the supplement though as even with ds1 i was eating very well but still managed to get aneamic :S Happened in later pregnancy last time so hoping it doesn't happen again.

Have a good day to everyone!

cookielove · 09/04/2014 08:38

Hmmm I completely forgot about the 2nd bounty pack although I have been given two by my midwives, different ones though.

isitme1 · 09/04/2014 08:46

Ive not gone for the bounty packs this time as I think they just clutter up the house

ds1 is poorly again :( my poor lil man was sick 10 hours after eating chicken and it came uo exactly how he ate it.

rockin20s · 09/04/2014 11:19

Had the midwife this morning, all went well, very strong heartbeat. My uterus is measuring 16.5cm which equates to 19 weeks instead of my 17 weeks. So that's proof I'm HUGE

Mummyto3tobe · 09/04/2014 11:54

hope ur ds feels better soon isitme, my 2 havent been ill for a while so it will be coming around for us soon no doubt!

Good news rockin Smile and even if you are measuring big now, u may level out by the next app. i measured big with my second but she came out at 8lb7 so not exactly huge. hopeing this one isnt much bigger than her god help me!

isitme1 · 09/04/2014 12:17

Thank you mummy.
Ds1 is almost always ill. He has sn and digestive health problems which are the main culprits. His gastric dr isnt very helpful either Hmm
Booked driving test for next month!

isitme1 · 09/04/2014 12:19

Rockin at 34 weeks I was measuring 37! Had extra scan because of it lol if your measuring over next time im sure they refer for a scan?
My 1st was 8lb7! 2nd was 8lb13!

Teabiscuits · 09/04/2014 14:11

katherine sorry for late reply. Yes I have been under consultant from day 1, although my case is a bit different as in my last pregnancy my son's growth slowed alot from week 30, we suspect the abruption happened at 39+2, my body then was trying to labour for nearly a week until heammorage happened at 40+1. I only lost 900ml during delivery but I suspect I lost almost that at home (my poor MIL who came to look after kids thought we were going to die with the amount if blood everywhere!) Luckily didn't need a transfusion, but have very good iron levels (felt like crap for ages after though). There was probably a problem with the placenta for some time, so my case is obviously quite different to PPH. I did have a very small PPH with my second, but only 450mls so no concern. Seeing the consultant on 15th so will hopefully will find out the best way forward then. x

Teabiscuits · 09/04/2014 14:13

Good luck with the test isitme - I have been making excuses for years not to do mine! x

weebairn · 09/04/2014 14:36

I measured 35 at 40 weeks last time, but baby wasn't that small!! (6 lb 14 oz)
I have friends who measured small and delivered very big babies (they were tall though) and friends who measured big who didn't! I think it's all quite random

DownstairsMixUp · 09/04/2014 15:01

I measured really big at my 36 week appointment and remember the midwife saying "oooh it'll be a big one!" que me worrying as it was my first baby. As it turns out hew as 8lbs 6oz so a good size but not huge. I'm only 5'5 to!

VaselineOnToast · 09/04/2014 15:22

Hello there! I'm new.

VaselineOnToast - 26th Sept - sex unknown (if it's a girl, I am going to be avoiding pink like the plague!)

isitme1 · 09/04/2014 16:27

CoolCat2014 · 09/04/2014 17:03

How very exciting Topmammy :) I have my scan tomorrow, can't wait!

Welcome Vaseline!

neddle · 09/04/2014 17:08

Team pink for me as well!

This is my second girl and fifth child; due officially on 24th August, but I've always been at least a week after, if not two, so I'm expecting to be in september.

Topsyloulou · 09/04/2014 17:26

Nice to hear the team pink news.

Had my first meeting with clients today where bump has been visible. Typically it has looked small for the last couple of days but decided to pop out this morning so no choice but to wear maternity dress. Don't want them to know until after my scan next week. With the strategic placement of my bag & coat think I've got away with it. Roll on next Thursday!

DownstairsMixUp · 09/04/2014 18:11

Congrats on all the team pink!

How is everyones weight gain going? I braved the scales today and I've gained about 6lbs... am 19 weeks!

CumbrianExile · 09/04/2014 18:43

Congrats to the team pinks!

Downstairs I haven't dared get on the scales since I found out I was pregnant. I am going to live in ignorance until after the birth Grin

KatharineClover · 09/04/2014 19:35

Hi vaseline and welcome! I too have a dislike of pink, and that very pale washed-out blue. Neither is very practical, especially when they start weaning! With DS I liked looking for lots of different colour clothes as I had this strange thought that I didn't want him to come out & think everything was pale blue! My absolute favourite babygro for him was really fine horizontal stripes in autumn colours (orange, yellow, red, brown, green) it was awesome. This time, I've been buying (& granny and nanny have bought too) some baby clothes in unisex but bright colours - red green, sunny yellow, rainbow etc (I passed on all my baby stuff as wasn't planning another).

lilone1234 · 09/04/2014 19:39

Sounds like the blues and pinks are starting to even out now!! Glad everyone's scans are going well.

I'm also not going to dare to get on the scales anytime soon!

I splashed myself with boiling water while making dinner and now got a blister on my poor bump Sad. It's a good thing I have so much belly insulation to keep it from bump! Grin

Missingcaffeine · 09/04/2014 20:08

Hey, just been catching up on all your posts! Congratulations all those who have found out the gender and welcome newbies. So funny about the cat and your placenta. I'm quite tempted by a home birth despite this being my first - only problem is the hospital is not very close....so I think I'll end up with a hospital birth.
Well, I'm week 2 into new job, and have not worked up the courage to tell them. I am absolutely terrified. I think I am managing to hide the bump with very careful selection of clothes and being careful about my posture, but I have to tell them soon, but am so so scared. I wish I hadn't left my previous job now, even though I hated it, because I am so worried about everyone judging me here and that it really is the worst way to start out in a new job. I'm also worrying about how I will manage going back to this job after only 6 months, as it is so intense and I think it's going to be hard to leave on time, and lots of travel. It's not quite what I expected.
On top of this, OH just decided to quit his job for a career change (and therefore pay cut) but no actual job to go to or alternative choice of career selected yet. I want to be supportive as he was so miserable in his job, but we have now worked out the kind of salary he is likely to get and that based on 6 months mat leave, we will be spending £400 more each month than we earn during mat leave - and that is not factoring in anything other than the bare essential survival money.
Oh and today, but knee started to really hurt when walking. I've not done anything unusual.
One of my best friends is a midwife, but unfortunately she lives abroad. She really advised me to take iron supplements and eat lots of iron containing food. I've given up with the pregnacare for now as I swear they were making me feel sick (took them for first 14 weeks). I now just take a mini iron tablet.
Not felt any kicks yet. I'm 16+4 today. My friend with an anterior placenta didn't feel anything until 23 weeks!
Sorry for the long post again.

Missingcaffeine · 09/04/2014 20:12

Forgot to say, I've enrolled on NCT course. Did this before I found out how skint we are going to be! LOL! Lots of people have said it's worth it just to meet a local network of mums and dads if it's first baby - as we don't actually know anyone in the same situation locally. I think if there was a good NHS one, I'd have done that, but I don't think there is, as everyone round here seems to enrol on the NCT one.
