Hello hello hello.

Got my midwife appointment booked woohoo!!

weebairn really feel for you, sometimes work can be really shitty!

I am still so tired, 13+1 today!

cookielove · 19/03/2014 18:44

I was also wondering where all the regulars have gone, and I'm thinking really only a handful of people really post on here when the list is so long!

amy246 · 19/03/2014 18:49

I put my foot down straight away with my parents. I made sure they bought nothing until the scan, and even now they can only buy clothes :)

cookielove · 19/03/2014 18:53

My mum and dad have gone into over drive with protection, if I call either one of them they are worrying something is wrong. Its sweet but annoying!

They know not to buy me anything yet to!

KatharineClover · 19/03/2014 19:04

I think you're right cookie - should we start a new list at some point? I'm guessing some people may have put their name down originally back in January but things might gave changed / they might not want to be on an antenatal thread anymore so might be best to refresh with those who want to take part? Maybe when there is a new thread?
Had a tough night as my 3 year old has sprained his foot but we thought it might be broken as he can't put any weight on it, so we were in a & e all night long with x-rays etc. He was really good, but I am so tired now!

OneInAMinion · 19/03/2014 19:16

You just pay as you go kittyrose...£10 per week for a 2-hr session & cake Smile

duzzlightyearsmum · 19/03/2014 19:24

Been a while since i posted been very busy but have been keeping up with messages. Had my 16 week appointment today and everything was normal. Won't have to see mW again until 28 weeks now, seems a very long time! But have got a scan and a consultant appointment in between so I'm sure it'll be here pretty quick! Hope everyone is feeling good today :) xxx

topmammy · 19/03/2014 19:28

Yeah I agree with that idea re. the long list - starting a new one next thread.

I was wondering where hubbythecatandme has got to as she used to be a regular poster from the first thread :( sniff

My headteacher is going to put an announcement in our school weekly newsletter on Friday about my baby news. I am really curious about what the parent's reaction will be! I would think all good and positive but you never know... Hmm

Topsyloulou · 19/03/2014 19:30

My mum is the same Cookie. I didn't reply straight away to a text the other day & she went into panic mode! Everyone, including me, is on a shopping ban until after the 20 week scan, it hasn't stopped my mum looking tho!

I'm having to do the NCT antenatal classes as there is no funding in my area for NHS classes. It is quite expensive, think its £220 including membership but some friends who have done classes in a different area thoroughly recommend them & really value the friends made through NCT. That class sounds great, will have to see if they do it in my area.

Nazly · 19/03/2014 20:01

Hi ladies, this is my first message here and I am totally new to mumsnet; Can I join in? My due date is 2nd Sep...

whiteblossom · 19/03/2014 20:03

weebairn Huge hugs, after those shifts/days I'd be on the verge of tears, your clearly made of stern stuff. I really hope things ease up for you, its not at all easy being pg.

Ive been to the mw, I was hoping she would reassure me but I cant say she really did, everything was very rushed. At least I got to hear babys heartbeat. That should have cheered me up but I left feeling stressed- issues with b12/folate levels requiring feedback from hospital...

Im quite sure this baby is a boy, based on scan pic, heart rate (136) and well sods law!!

Next is 20 week scan then I can choose when I next see mw cant remember the dates. I think they noticed I was a bit nervous about things.

To make myself feel better, ds and I went out for cake Smile He's now excited about getting a brother (or sister) phew

CoolCat2014 · 19/03/2014 20:33

Hi nazly same DD as me :)

whiteblossom hope you feel better, get some rest & try to relax and not stress.

I'm sure I've felt baby move a couple times, like little kicks in my lower tummy, and fluttery feelings, and then feeling like something turning from one side to other. not sure if it's too early?

MS is worse this week, kinda scared as I keep losing weight... Though I did have plenty to spare so hope it's not an issue. Had people at work comment they didn't recognise me cos of the weight loss :s midwife appt on Monday, so will see what she says. Sent DH out to buy high calorie snacks. Totally not what I expected at 16 wks!

My parents have been remarkably restrained, though my mum is convinced its a girl and even knitted the cutest purple blanket!

dontevenblink · 19/03/2014 20:58

Morning/evening all :) 9.30am here which makes it a bit confusing, I like getting up in the morning though and being able to read what has been going on with you all :)

weebairn so impressed with you being able to work night shifts, I am exhausted at the moment! I was teaching when pregnant with dc1 then part time with dc2, then just tutoring evenings with dc3 and that was hard enough! Serious respect to you :) Not worked for last couple of years since we emigrated, my 3 dc (eldest is 5) are the ones exhausting me now Grin

Kittyrose I did NCT classes (6 years ago though! Think they were about £120 then) Mine were a mixture of evenings and whole days, with a shared lunch, so was a really good way to meet people, there were 6 couples on mine and 5 of us are still in touch. Gave us all a really good support network and we were round each others houses all the time, had family meetups up etc. The course was fairly useful, some of it did make us all giggle a bit, picturing contractions as waves, baby on beach etc (I'm sure it works for a lot of people but DH and I couldn't look at each other through a lot of it for fear of cracking up Grin - our teacher was a little bizarre though so may not have helped!). They did go through different procedures including C-sections and who would be in the room, nappy changing, different positions for pain relief etc. I didn't do the NHS ones so can't really compare them, but I'd definitely recommend the NCT ones, even if it is just to meet other people.

We've got the opposite problem with MIL, don't think she could care less that we're having another! They haven't been bothered about any of them really... DH is a bit upset at the moment as it was mine and DH's birthdays last week and PIL have completely forgotten about them, not even a phonecall. It's ds2's birthday next week and I'm worried that they will forget this as well (highly likely) as I think DH will be devastated Sad. They've always been pretty awful at contact, probably hear from them twice a year, but still...

Enough doom and gloom though Grin hope you all have a good night, DD is home sick from school today so I have a packed house!

dontevenblink · 19/03/2014 21:00

Oh, and welcome Nazly :)

rockin20s · 19/03/2014 21:37

Oh I have felt sick all day! Have been at a conference today and all they were supplying was tea/coffee and biscuits at the breaks. Thought the lack of proper food was to blame for the sickness but I eat a good size dinner tonight and still feel sick.

Second day of the conference tomorrow and i will be bringing better food tomorrow.

I agree about the new list for the new thread

xxmissbrightsidexx · 19/03/2014 21:48

evening ladies.. how we all doing?
just polished off a big bowl of angel delight, and dare i say it, am feelin quite normal tonight lol.. im loving that i can feel movement in there already

BexBoo12 · 19/03/2014 22:08

Just marking my place - I am here Smile I keep up to date with posts but only post occasionally when I have chance. Very busy at work at the moment. Easter hols coming up when you will all be sick of me!

Great news about all the fab scans x

Nazly · 19/03/2014 23:05

Hi Ladies, I just posted something but cant see it, sorry if I am doubling up... Just wanted to say that I went back a few pages and read your messages and loved them, you are a lovely group x this is my first baby and I am keen to be in touch with people with same thoughts...

Also wanted to ask for tip to cover my small bump which looks like being fat rather than a real bump, I'd like to hide it at work and in meetings if possible for longer, but can't seem to find the right clothing; it also needs to be affordable... Any suggestions ladies?

bugoven · 20/03/2014 04:43

Hi nazly. Welcome and congratulations. I have found wearing a fairly loose top with long cardigan and cotton scarf very effective. Layers hide bump very well. Good luck Xx

misog2000 · 20/03/2014 06:08

Ekkk scan this morning! Scared and excited at the same time. Good luck for yours weebairn

BexBoo12 · 20/03/2014 07:23

Good luck misog Smile

Lottiedoubtie · 20/03/2014 07:50

Good luck for today's scans Smile

KatharineClover · 20/03/2014 08:39

topsy nct classes were the best thing I bought when pregnant with DS. He is now 3 and the 8 of us still meet about 3 times a month (play dates, meals out etc). We just had a joint 3rd birthday party at a farm and had quite a few dads there too. The girls have been the most amazing support network - I was even in hospital with one lady! It is amazing having people to email who are going through precisely the same thing as you (and are up at 3am too!) - they kept me going through feeding problems (my son was tongue-tied) and everyone rallies round when needed.
Also, the classes were great, really informative, we looked at different types of birth, how partners can support, breast feeding, baby care, and had a special 'ladies only' session where we discussed things like what helps stitches heal etc.
I also volunteer at the nearly new sales - you get first dibs on buying all the stuff, it is very jolly plus loads of bargains!

isitme1 · 20/03/2014 08:59

Good luck to those having scans x

misog2000 · 20/03/2014 09:30

Thank you, all was good very wriggly baby with everything as it should be. I had to half empty my bladder so she could see the skull properly.....that's not easy to do when you are busting! Hope today's other scans go well x
