Hi Auntiemaggie. As Plate said I am in the cycling/tri widow club so i understand. I find that at the moment I find it hard in the sense that I haven't got the same amount of freedom that DH has. However I am lucky that I have some great friends round here and also have my horse which is keeping me sane at the moment as riding is my one form of exercise. Do you already have kids (sorry can't remember) and do you have anything which you can do for yourself and get to meet people with similar interests. When I had DS I went to some groups thinking that I was there to make friends but soon realised that the only thing we had in common was having a baby. Whereabouts are you? We can form a cycling/tri widows group!! I am trying to ignore that DH will be needing to do most of his training in July, August and September. Although he's just announced he's doing a 70.3 in May.Blush

AuntieMaggie · 30/03/2014 21:16

Thank you ladies :)

coco happy to meet you sometime as long as I'm not going to have to catch you Grin

howly it looks lovely in the pics but I'm 5'6 so worried its also going to be too big for me as well as not fit in the boot... its a lovely green though...

Incapinka no dc this will be our first and I'm in Bristol. Because of my leg pain I'm finding it hard as I have to wait for DP to help me with shopping and stuff whereas in the past I would just get on and do stuff when he wasn't around. He hasn't signed up for anything else yet but I think thats because he normally does summer events whereas he's been out in all weather over winter to prep for next week and its taken the shine off a bit iyswim. We had a rare sunday together today which was lovely. I feel for you with your DH training over the summer.

I've got my first physio session tomorrow so hopefully that will help.

Incapinka · 30/03/2014 21:45

Really hope the physio helps. I am seeing a Mctimoney chiro every few weeks which so far has managed to keep me on the straight and narrow. Just! Pain and not being as independent as you would like is so debilitating and depressing so try not to give yourself too hard a time. Wish you were closer. We could compare notes! Once baby is here do find some groups to go to if you don't know anyone. My mum told me how lonely it is having a baby and I understand what she meant as your life revolves around the baby and having someone to talk to or a place to go makes such a difference. And Keep chatting to us as we all understand. Hope next weekend goes well. Made the mistake of mentioning it to DH and his ears pricked up....!

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy · 31/03/2014 07:13

For the cycling widows, do try and encourage your DH/DPs not to sign up for too many events that require lots of training over the first few months after baby is born. It's important that you both get some leisure time (ie don't ban everything) but you will want to spend time together as a family and you should get some time to yourself too. Spending time together as a family does not equal you and baby watching DH take part in an all day sporting event!

Howly · 31/03/2014 08:00

Have called in sick today, I'm exhausted, have Lower bump ache and just have not stopped for about a month so decided I needed a day on the sofa! Feeling slightly guilty but I think baby and I need it!!

Plateofcrumbs · 31/03/2014 09:57

FoxtrotOscar - aside from a 100 mile event 3 weeks after my due date Hmm I think I've managed to persuade DH to front-load all his events this summer so they're pre-baby.

Incapinka - I keep wanting to tell DH about the mumsnet DH training for an Ironman but I keep stopping myself as I'm scared of giving him any ideas! Grin

My current battle is getting DH to concede that the tiny box-room that we will be calling the nursery is NOT big enough for baby AND storing all his sports kit which is currently taking up half the room. God knows where we're going to put it all! And also to concede that he will either have tolerate the buggy living in the hallway, or he will need to clear the under-stairs cupboard of more cycling kit.

Oh and that when we knock-through the kitchen and dining room there won't be space to store the two bikes, a spare set of wheels and turbo-trainer which currently live in the dining room.

Sigh! Grin

To be fair I've also got to have a massive clothes and shoes cull, as well as significant streamlining of kitchen paraphernalia.

Ipsumlorem · 31/03/2014 10:10

Morning ladies - been a long time since I posted anything though Ive been reading when I can! Work was hectic and am still being sick - though not just as often/when I am really tired.

Had a bit of a scare as my bp was quite high the last time I saw the midwife so I'm having it checked every week. Its usually a little on the high side when I'm not pregnant and no other symptoms of anything like pre eclampsia etc so fingers crossed it'll stay close enough to normal now to not be a massive worry! Everything else is fine for the moment - baby girl kickin away in there Grin

Have been told by midwife no more stress/strenuous activity etc though and work have been amazing so working at home a good bit to save having a long commute. Its good as I'm 26 weeks this week and starting to get very tired again! Is anyone else tired?

Bump looks huge now as I'm only little - can't quite believe its going to get bigger!! Smile Also weighed myself and I've put on 1 st 2 lbs so far! Blush A lot of that in the last few weeks Blush Blush Does that seem like a lot?! Going to have to watch what I'm snacking on now that I'm actually able to eat proper food most of the time - I'm still being a carb monster! Smile

Sympathies to all those still suffering with sickness/spd etc Sad Won't be long until you all have your lovely babies in arms and are hopefully feeling a lot better! Smile

AuntieMaggie · 31/03/2014 12:08

Thanks IncapinkaI'm now sporting a lovely tubigrip round my belly :) and told to stop various things

plate I have the same issues with space and needing to clear stuff out!

Ipsum not really a lot when baby is really starting to grow now...

Incapinka · 31/03/2014 14:03

Foxtrot - love the advice just a shame DH had signed up for IM Wales in September before I got the BFP. What with July - Sept being his busiest time at work too I am going to be putting a lot of days off in the bank for me to go off competing on my horse next year!!! It's going to be an interesting few months.

Plate - I know IM Wales is sold out so your DH shouldn't be able to enter this year and join in the insanity...!!!!

Auntiemaggie - hope the tubigrip works. I did wonder about some sort of support for when I ride... Is there such a thing?

Hope everyone feeling ok today. Oh and I weighed myself this morning and have put on 15 pounds. I think the majority of that is the ridiculous amount of mini eggs I have been eating since you lot gave me that idea....! Grin

ismarah · 31/03/2014 14:26

Ipsum don't forget that if you were of a normal BMI you're expected to put on more weight than someone like me, whose BMI was 30. And now we're approaching the third trimester which is when we're supposed to start taking in more calories, about 300 extra, until beans arrive.

Eek. Just looked at my app. Third trimester for me starts...today! 26 weeks on the nose, start of week 27.

BlueC2 · 31/03/2014 15:26

ismarah 3rd trimester at 26 weeks Shock how did we suddenly get to that-will be me on Saturday too!

howly don't feel bad about having the day off-enjoy it and rest!

auntie glad you've got a support band-hope it does the trick

Well-we're back from hols and thankfully DH has today off as there's a ton of washing to do and I have some work too (which is v welcome given state of our bank balance!). DS was so good on hols but poor thing really suffering with his teeth-last 4 molars-SO hoping they actually come through before baby arrives!

My bump seems to have gone on a growth spurt this last week and suddenly feels huge!

Plateofcrumbs · 31/03/2014 15:53

Ooh third trimester should kick in for me just in time to justify my addiction to hot cross buns. 2 hot cross buns a day should easily fulfil my extra calories requirements Smile

Ipsumlorem · 31/03/2014 17:35

ismarah I was already in the overweight category and an extra 300 calories would not be a stretch for me right now! Wink One of the girls in work was overweight to begin with but only put on 10 pounds overall during her pregnancy. However she did develop gestational diabetes so was sticking rigidly to a diet sheet for the last trimester. I'm not too bothered to be honest - other than for health reasons. I reckon some of it is bound to come off when I stop eating to conquer the nausea and can eat normal amounts again after baby is born and I've never had 6months off work before in which to go for a long walk most days etc Wink

blue that's me too - 26 weeks on sat as they changed my due date by one day at last scan Grin and plate I second the addiction to hot cross buns atm! Smile

ellentullo · 31/03/2014 21:26

Great news about the extra calories although my heartburn is seriously interfering with my planned indulgence. Chocolate is one of the worst offenders - terrible timing for Easter. Will give hot cross buns a try though

icklekid · 01/04/2014 05:48

Mmmm hot cross buns my mum had some amazing ones from sainsburys- maybe I should survey supermarkets to make sure we all eat the best ones for our calories to be worth it, it's a tough job but I will volunteer for the sake of you all!

auntie me too with sexy tubigrip, when its in right position it's amazing, if it rides up its painful! At least don't have to worry about bump covering if tops aren't long enough!

Ladies with overly energetic men- I hope they make it up to you! Going to be hard enough for dh to not spend hours at gym every night and hes not training for anything!

Am I the only one who has no idea how much they weigh? I'm eating as healthily as I can, snacking when starving but only really able to eat 1 meal a day because of sickness, perhaps I should do a before and after weighing in for the hot cross bun experiment!

Patchwork88 · 01/04/2014 09:04

Anyone else started a countdown?
I only have 38 working days left!!Grin

Ipsumlorem · 01/04/2014 11:07

42 days left here patch!! Grin

AuntieMaggie · 01/04/2014 13:35

ickle DP had to help me get it on this morning just to add to the sexiness!

I really should be eating more healthy but how without meat/fish or veg I have no idea.... answers on a postcard please...

mtpg · 01/04/2014 13:39

I have 53 days left, feels forever. :)

Patchwork88 · 01/04/2014 14:30

Yay we're all getting closer. I'm taking 4 weeks before due date...will be my longest break for 5 years (and the longest for the next 20!) I cannot wait!!

Ipsumlorem · 01/04/2014 15:11

Maternity leave officially starts the end of June but I'm taking annual leave beforehand - cannot wait!!!!! Grin

I have had a lot of comments from people suggesting that I'm making a mistake taking off so early and that I'll be bored. Has anyone else had that?

I think a lot of the people I work with have had quite easy pregnancies and don't realise how ill I have felt and what a struggle it has been just to get to this point without taking long term sick so I just politely remind them that it will be the last month I have to myself to just do whatever I want with my time for a long time and that I haven't had much of a chance to prepare for baby arriving as I had just about managed to 'do' work most days but have spent lots of mornings/evenings paying for being wiped out with horrendous vomiting Wink

maggie your tubigrip sounds well sexy Wink Hope it does the trick though for those of you wearing them Smile

Ipsumlorem · 01/04/2014 15:14

ps I am staaaaaaaaaaaarving today! Just ate a massive slice of lemon cake and I'm not even a tiny bit sorry - infact the rest of the cake is still looking at me...........................

Plateofcrumbs · 01/04/2014 15:42

ipsum I have had people telling me the opposite - that an extra week or so pre-baby is a good investment and that you won't miss it at the other end.

Patchwork88 · 01/04/2014 15:49

I get a bit of both, too early or too late. Someone told me that 10 weeks would be better...now that would be boring!
I just made my choice based on when the tube would be getting too hot for my liking!
I also have a sexy tubigrip, gives great support but the extra layer combined with maternity tights makes trips to the loo quite complicated!

NancyinCali · 01/04/2014 15:52

Stop talking about hot cross buns!! I can't buy them here!
I guess I could make some but that's a bit too domesticated right now :)
