plate the way I see it is I'm on a fixed term contract at the moment but with the chance of more work to follow on from this project so I will be taking just shy of 6 months maternity leave (which is considered normal for the place I work due to having to arrange cover etc). My return date is dictated largely by the amount of time I feel I would need after maternity leave in order to finish the project before the final deadline for completion. The long and short of it being that I may as well have a few weeks off pre maternity leave as I wouldn't have time to tack the leave I'm owed onto the end anyway! Smile Plus I am very much looking forward to pottering about during that time - something I rarely have the time to do! Grin

Ipsumlorem · 01/04/2014 16:16

nancy you need some kind of hot cross bun replacement - I am a strong advocate of lemon cake today as dh ate the last hot cross bun yesterday Angry

Plateofcrumbs · 01/04/2014 18:06

Sigh - just back from hospital. They've decided they want me on consultant-led care for the rest of the pregnancy and more scans at 26, 28, 32 and 36 weeks. Due to a combination of the ovarian cysts growing and having a single artery in the umbilical cord (instead of the normal 2, which can affect baby's growth).

I was just starting to chill out a bit but feeling all worried again. I know the chances are everything will be fine, but I wouldn't mind fast forwarding through the rest of the pregnancy now.

Plateofcrumbs · 01/04/2014 18:07

...still, am consoling myself with hot cross buns Grin

jbiscuits · 01/04/2014 18:10

ipsum - I second the lemon cake suggestion. I made one for the youth group last week, but made sure to cut not too big slices so me and dh had some to bring home Grin It got demolished rather quickly, so made some flapjacks yesterday. baby has a rather sweet tooth Smile (although none of this hot cross bun hype - can't stand raisins/currants).

NancyinCali · 01/04/2014 18:45

Guess what? Just found hot cross buns! Was so excited I told all my expat friends Wink

plate sorry you're having yet more worry Hmm But they're keeping a good eye on you and I'm sure all will be fine. Hugs!

Howly · 01/04/2014 19:21

I have 15 schools days left, 11.5 before Easter and 3.5 days after Easter! I'm going on mat leave early as soon as I can!

Plateofcrumbs · 01/04/2014 19:25

Thanks Nancy Smile

Am just reminding myself that this is based on no new information I wasn't already aware of, it's just how the consultant has decided to manage it, and yes it's great I am going to be closely monitored. But a bit if me is going 'FOUR more scans? FOUR?! That's more than most people have in their entire pregnancy. WTF are they so worried about they want FOUR scans?'

Oh and also they've booked me in for the first scan the morning after the evening of my favourite work-related event of the year, which is the other end of the country and I now won't be able to attend Angry

But YAY for hot cross buns! Grin

Ipsumlorem · 01/04/2014 20:16

plate sorry you are having a hard time. At least as you say they are keeping a close eye on things. 4 scans sounds a lot but I've known a couple of people with gestational diabetes who have had weekly growth scans from 28 weeks so 4 is really not too bad in the grand scheme of things and at least you get to see 'sideplate of crumbs' 4 more times! Sucks about the work do though Sad

Nancy yay for hot cross buns! jbiscuit I am so proud because I have made it to dinner time without devouring the rest of the lemon cake! But tomorrow is another day Wink

Have a midwife appointment to check my dodgy blood pressure tomorrow - starting to worry a bit as she threatened me with hospital last time if it hasn't come down Sad Have done everything she ordered - have been working at home and trying to keep stress levels down etc but just a bit concerned it may not be enough. Oh well will have to see tomorrow I guess.

Ipsumlorem · 01/04/2014 20:18

howly am very jealous of your 15 days!!!!

icklekid · 01/04/2014 20:32

Wow want to join in this work countdown...36 work days to go I think, after this week and easter hopefully the 5weeks before easter will go quick- lots to do and a few bank holidays to help!

Ohhh lemon cake mmm working from home may involve baking tomorrow!

plate hope scan goes well and isn't too much of a pain

ismarah hope its good news for you too, at least you've done all you can!

icklekid · 01/04/2014 20:46

Ladies, with all the hot cross bun talk you are lucky that I have just returned from the UK and got hot cross buns on the freezer now and ate plenty at the weekend. And I've got mini eggs. And fortunately when I travel to the US next week I'm going via Heathrow so I will be able to stock up with more mini eggs for the journey.

Plate, can you try and be glad to have the extra scans and close attention? Is it possible to move the one that clashes with your work event?

I had my first appointment with the mid wife ( and student mid wife) at the hospital today. I will post what happened tomorrow.

Howly · 01/04/2014 21:11

I feel like I'm cheating a bit going on early mat leave but I'm re locating to another part of the country and have done no baby planning, my new house resembles a squat as DH is living there alone atm so I don't think I'm going to get bored in the 11 weeks before babies due, plus I don't usually get bored; I'm going on a part time floristry course and have daily swimming/yoga planned!! I also have the luxury of not having to go back to work to we run out of money!!

Plateofcrumbs · 01/04/2014 21:48

Thanks ipsum - reassuring to know that 4 extra scans isn't crazy.

And foxtrot yeah I'm glad I'm getting properly monitored, just a bit sad to be anxious again as I'd been having a more zen few weeks after the 20 week scan results.

And unfortunately the scan appointment is based around the consultant's availability and ultimately I'd rather see the consultant than go on the work shindig.

Mmm that Jamie Oliver cake reminds me of Nigella"a lemon meringue cake - drool!

AuntieMaggie · 01/04/2014 22:06

plate sorry you've got extra things to worry about... I defnitely think hot cross buns are needed...

ismarah good luck for tomorrow

My cake of choice at the mo is victoria sponge - I've been.baking one a week for the past.4/5 weeks amd using a different flavour jam each time... funnily enough this weeks was lemon curd Grin

On another note my nipple is driving me mad - I've got a patch of ezcema like dry skin on it and it is so itchy! I've put various things on it but hoping its normal... usually they say to get these changes on your breasts checked but I don't know how the things to watch for translates in pregnancy...

ismarah · 01/04/2014 23:08

Ladies - I think you mean to wish Ipsum good luck for tomorrow with her BP management? Good luck fx

One of the suggestions for the time off before beans are due is to cook loads and freeze, which I always think sounds really sensible. Except we have no freezer space, don't eat the sorts meals that lend themselves to freezing (stews, curries, soups, chillies) very often and even more seldom in the height of summer. And DH can cook perfectly well, even if he gets a bit flustered and uses all the pots and pans.

I have the cough of death TM going on at the moment but it does at least seem to be shifting things a bit so hopefully I will be properly well soon, not just not poorly. And then it'll be time to kick arse and take names in the council and at the architects and re-do the house however needed to fit bean and accoutrements and shopping. Woot. Think I'd rather stay on holiday..

Keep your hot cross buns and Cadbury Mini Eggs ladies, I have Hershey's Kisses. Stirs things up, nods, steps back.

Plateofcrumbs · 01/04/2014 23:49

Good luck ipsum with the BP checks and ismarah hope you are soon properly better!

I also have a bag of Hersey's kisses from my stateside adventure Grin. AND I've just made chocolate and peanut butter cupcakes for a team birthday tomorrow.

fifi669 · 01/04/2014 23:51

Think I have 32 days left? Taking all my annual leave before maternity as the new holiday year will begin when I get back.

Had my 3d scan thing Sunday, they couldn't get too many pictures so I've got a free rescan in 3 weeks.

Does the 3rd trimester start at 26 weeks?

ismarah · 02/04/2014 00:12

Hmm. My app said start of week 26 was the start of the third trimester - Wiki says it's at the start of week 28. So I dunno.

jaykay987 · 02/04/2014 03:54

sorry Plate. But it's good they are being proactive and being managed properly. Shane about the timing of your appointment.

achiever said "sideplateof" did make me giggle!

Im down to 34days at work. It's scarily short number but seems like forever away in weeks!

Im 27weeks today - I thought I hit 3rd trimester next week?

I'm not a fan of hot cross buns. Last bag of mini eggs made me feel ill........sort of going off food again now. And sleeping! These 3am start times are killing me!

jaykay987 · 02/04/2014 03:55

achiever = whoever

NancyinCali · 02/04/2014 04:36

ismarah from memory 28 weeks is third trimester but I haven't looked at my app. I used to check about 5 apps daily with DD1!

icklekid · 02/04/2014 06:09

Sorry ismarah I did mean ipsum hope blood pressure is normal. However herseys are definitely no mini eggs- nice try

Ohh nigella cake or another friend suggested hummingbird bakery cakes- looks like I won't be buying Jamie after all!

Glad you get another 3d scan fifi did you get a good look even if pictures weren't great?

I had 5 pieces of pasta last night because I was starving and cereal just didn't cut it. Was sick all eve :-( :-( :-( had enough now! And my back hurts, and I'm in pain. Bring on 3rd trimester so that this pregnancy is done!!!

icklekid · 02/04/2014 06:11

Sorry for stroppy post just opened app and this photo/100 days did make me Smile
