Good morning all, been busy this week so busy I keep forgetting to slow down and think of me and bump!! In exhausted from long days and stressful deadlines, then throw school children into the mix plus a house guest!! Mega stress on! So no time to post this week but I've wen reading in the quiet moments and sorry to see so many suffering the effects of pregnancy! I hope you feel better at the weekend apparently the sun is coming out to play?

I can't wait til I'm sat in a train tomorrow night traveling I see my DH as this horrible week will be over!
Have a good day all xx

Plateofcrumbs · 27/03/2014 08:10

Had a great holiday thanks coco - all fancy hotels, lie-ins and restaurants. Which just makes me wonder (given how much I really like lie-ins at fancy hotels and eating in restaurants) exactly why it is that having a baby ever sounded like a good idea!

BlueC2 · 27/03/2014 08:18

plate :) so glad you had a good time away-those holidays will be possible again in time! We're in the middle of a cottage rather than fancy hotel, no lie in but time for morning snuggles with DS and pre-prepared home cooked instead of fancy restaurant meal type holiday-and yes a few more luxuries/bit more sleep would be lovely but DS is clearly loving having us all to himself this week and I'm loving seeing him have so much fun etc so it has it's payoffs! Precious times and memories with a 22month old!

zing sorry to hear the spd hitting you too!

cupoftea welcome. So sorry to read of your loss but wishing you all the best with this little bean!

Plateofcrumbs · 27/03/2014 13:19

Blue I'm sure I'll come round to the idea of snuggly holidays with infants Smile - hope you're having a lovely time!

cupoftea so sorry about your devastating loss, that puts everything into perspective.

Last couple of days I've really noticed the kicks getting stronger - and visible for the first time too! I'm rather enjoying having the baby bundled up inside now (can't it just stay there all warm and cosy? much easier to look after this way I think!).

icklekid · 27/03/2014 14:16

Glad you're having lovely holidays plate and blue

Went to work not feeling great, made it to lunch now given up and am at home feeling sorry for myself!

howly am very much looking forward to the weekend and some sunshine would be lovely! Taking dh down to London to see james bond exhibition for his birthday just hoping my back is up to it...

Will scan in the SPD/PGP notes tomorrow and post on the facebook page. Feel free to join if you havent already, its totally private so you need to contact MrsB2013 to join. Useful if you want to keep pictures etc private as mumsnet is a searchable website. If anyone wants me to email through the notes then just PM me your email address!

SPD back today as I have been very naughty and done lots of painting and decorating over the last week so tomorrow will be a rest day. On the plus side my new bathroom is finished! Just the painting to do, carpets on first floor and stairs, finish the built in wardrobes and setting up the nursery and new office to do. Its been hell these last few weeks...

NancyinCali · 27/03/2014 18:29

I'll call my midwife later but do you think it's okay to fly from San Francisco to New York (6 hour flight I think) at 30 weeks? Potentially going for a girlie weekend with my best friend and to a fancy awards ceremony with her (do they do maternity ball dresses?!).

ZingSweetCoconut · 27/03/2014 19:25

Nancy

should be ok.
call the airline and ask what their requirements are - you'll probably need GPs note that you are fit to fly, but rules are different after 28 weeks. and after 32 weeks.

NancyinCali · 27/03/2014 21:10

That's what I thought Zing. MIL pulled a cats bum face when I mentioned it to her though Grin. Even more so when I said I was leaving DH & DD here.

lemonpoppyseed · 28/03/2014 00:29

NancyinCali, I'm flying from Toronto to Dallas at 29 weeks (3.5 hrs). When I mentioned it to dr she was completely unconcerned...

ismarah · 28/03/2014 03:32

I have a cold. And found what I think are my first grey hairs. Woe is me.

icklekid · 28/03/2014 04:27

Ohhhh cookies mmmm and ismarah at least it's your first I'm going to be dying my hair soon because I have so many (that I pull out- I'm only 27!) Wait now that sounds old. ..arhh need sleep :-(

Glad I'm not the only one who does too much with spd liquid was in pain yesterday though!

NancyinCali · 28/03/2014 07:04

Oh my I had my first grey hairs at 23. They've definitely multiplied in the last two years since DD was born Wink

NancyinCali · 28/03/2014 07:05

lemon yes midwife office said fine up to 36 weeks. Very excited about NYC now Grin

Plateofcrumbs · 28/03/2014 07:36

Ooh that does sound exciting Nancy!

Laying in bed listening to the kid next door have one of his regular horrendous screaming tantrums. I don't know how the poor mum copes.

AuntieMaggie · 28/03/2014 12:14

I'm off to Belgium next weekend... do you think I need travel insurance? We're going on the euro tunnel as part of a group and DPs parents live in France so not far if anything happens... I'm unsure...

I'm going to be in the car for hours so I'm thinking about packing a little picnic as well as snacks that I can use over the weekend, a pillow, hot water bottle...

Any other advice?

jaykay987 · 28/03/2014 13:19

Have you got time to sort a E111 or whatever it's now called?

ismarah · 28/03/2014 13:37

Auntie It might give you just that extra peace of mind to have it? A single trip insurance isn't all that much. The European Insurance card (used to be called E-111) is also an option but I don't know what the new procedure to obtain one is..

Also, if you already have travel insurance, you might be covered anyway. Our insurance T&Cs are fine with no amendments as I was flying before 28 weeks and they count bean as me at that point, IYSWIM.

SmallOlympianBear · 28/03/2014 14:13

Nancy, look up Tiffany Rose dresses. They're gorgeous and deliver to the US. I've bought my wedding dress from there :)

ZingSweetCoconut · 28/03/2014 15:17

Tiffany Rose dresses - try also on Ebay!

NancyinCali · 28/03/2014 15:31

Thank you for the Tiffany Rose tip, will have a look Smile. Also going to ask my mums group if anyone happens to have something I can borrow.

AuntieMaggie · 28/03/2014 16:08

Yes I have one of those cards (EC1H or whatever its called now) - I'll have a look into travel insurance this week... thank you ladies. Now I just have to figure out what the hell I'm going to pack as I don't have 4 days worth of clothes that fit atm...

osinachi · 28/03/2014 17:32

It's EHIC European health insurance card. Check moneysavingexpert for information on its usage since you have one I'll be traveling to USA in week 30 hope my insurance(annual) will cover me. Will have to confirm. Am quite excited and looking forward to the trip and some baby stuff shopping. I 've been holding out since. A friend advised me to buy lots of nappies from the states, better value for money apparently. Can anyone recommend any shops? I've checked Burlington coat factor and love the stuff I've seen. We 'll be in NY C and Texas.

NancyinCali · 28/03/2014 17:54

osinachi wonder if we'll be in NYC at the same time Grin. As for shops, if there's a nordstrom rack they have some good deals on pretty nice baby clothes usually. I was in my local one yesterday looking at the teeny newborn outfits. Last time I was in NYC I was baby-free so paid no attention to shops with baby stuff but I guess any of the big stores like Macy's will have nice stuff. Gap of course too. Depends what sort of things you're looking for. No idea on whether nappies are cheaper but I wouldn't go crazy on them as different brands seem to suit different babies. Huggies leaked like crazy for us but pampers were great. You can get some super cute ones by Honest company though which is what I now use. Not sure where they're stocked as I buy online in bulk.
