Looked after my friend's toddler for 5 hours today (along with my own DD). I'm shattered now! Luckily the PILs are here so they helped out and the two little ones played pretty well together as they're best friends and hang out together a lot. Nap time was tricky though! Sadly my friend had to go to hospital to have a D&C after a MC at 12 weeks :(.

icklekid · 26/03/2014 05:46

Oh no nancy thats so hard Sad at least you could help and she knows you are there. I have a friend who mc and would have been due a month before me. Made me very aware to be sensitive what I post on Facebook etc...

auntieMaggie not hugely impressed with midwives at moment rang on Friday to ask never rang me back, rang on Mon same thing. Got 25 week appointment today so decided to ask then but I've only not pushed it as nothing I've read on Google worries me - just work being cautious! Here's nhs guidance on scarlet fever -www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/1568.aspx?CategoryID=54

coco know it xan be hard to get time out of work for appointments but just to suggest that actually one hour can make a huge difference to how much work you are able to get done. I was so much more productive today after physio yesterday than I had been for weeks. My hospital physio is also very flexible about time/ dates so perhaps you could get first or last appointment to help minimise disruption? Really worth it with spd...

ismarah know that overwhelmed feeling! Make a list research prices and buy when your happy! Can always go in get demo of car seats/ pushchairs make sure your happy and buy online. I found thinking of one purchase at a time helped when in store!

icklekid · 26/03/2014 05:49

Arhh wrote post on tue middle of night so got confused with days! Midwife appointment is today- wed, physio was mon, productive on tue...that probably still doesn't make sense...I'll stop rambling!

BlueC2 · 26/03/2014 08:38

Morning all. So sorry to hear of those falling over and still suffering sickness or now having SPD-not fun!

We are having a lovely and much needed week away-took DS to the beach on Monday and despite it being v cold (we're still in UK) DS had such fun-on of those precious parent moments watching him play so contentedly :) Plus both boys (DH and DS) still asleep so we've obviously worn DS out with activities so far which is good-he did take a tumble off a climbing frame yest which was scary but was running around fine 2mins later after a cuddle!

My back and bump have been sore each evening but we've done a lot of walking/wandering so trying to think of it as good exercise! I've def not put as much weight on this time (yet) though as can still fit in my mat skinny jeans which I literally wore twice last time before they were too tight on the leg.

Anyway-sorry for huge post. Hope you all have a good day! I've got a friend having a planned CS today so looking forward to photos of her new little one!

oo00PIXIE00oo · 26/03/2014 08:40

Thanks for the good wishes ladies I'm pleased to report averything seems to be fine - no pain/bleeding last night and baby is using my bladder like a trampoline today :)

So I feel like I've been run over and am spending the day in bed and what a better way to pass the time than some online shopping.

I plan on breast feeding the little man so wonder if I need to buy bottles/steriliser etc before?

AuntieMaggie · 26/03/2014 08:55

coco sorry you didn't have a very good day in Bristol yesterday (we're lovely here honest) and hope you are feeling better today

pixie the general advice I've read is not to buy any bottles if you are going to breast feed which I think I'm going with as I can always get some from nearby supermarket if needed

mummytobejuly2014 · 26/03/2014 10:18

pixie I plan the same but hoping to express once established. got 6 tommee tippee colour my world closer to nature 260ml size for £10 from asda website (should be closer to £30) & a tommee tippee microwave steriliser from tesco for £13.49. got the avent natural manual pump from boots on offer £36 down to £18 then a third off with parent club voucher so only £12.

jaykay987 · 26/03/2014 10:58

zing - dh still hasn't felt any kicks. he's getting annoyed!

pixie - glad you're feeling better after your fall.

coco - unfortunately I also seem to have been hit by spd. My movement has restricted so quickly - I hope the deterioration plateus soon otherwise I'll be in trouble. The pain is uncomfortable but still manageable at the moment. I was going to look online later to see if theres any exercises I can find that might help.

So in the past week - loads and loads of deliveries have arrived! We've gone from having a few clothes to now having a wardrobe, cotbed, pram and car seat! So it's starting to feel real! I can't wait to get it all built and set up this weekend!

liquidstate · 26/03/2014 11:18

Am hoping to breast feed but not exclusively as I want DH to share the weekend night feeds so will be expressing or using formula. I don't want to breast feed beyond 5 or six months. I got this:

direct.asda.com/tommee-tippee-Closer-to-Nature-Essentials-Kit/002694750,default,pd.html

Although it was on offer at £52 in January. These things come up in the baby events.

Am getting an electric breast pump, currently bidding on ebay for some.

DH hasn't felt the kicking yet. He's too slow to react when I call him over, also not very sensitive. Dog can feel them though!

liquidstate · 26/03/2014 11:27

Re: SPD I can scan in the notes I got from my physio and post on the July facebook group if that helps??

Mine has improved so much since I started doing the exercises, definitely worth trying.

mummytobejuly2014 · 26/03/2014 12:29

OH can see our wee man moving aswell as feeling. very active little bugger growing in there :) my belly looks like theres a mexican wave going on in there at times!

mixi82 · 26/03/2014 12:48

zing so glad your DH got to feel baby! As I only see my DP on weekends I try to grab his hand whenever I can to let him feel kicks, he's only managed to catch them a couple times. My DSS has felt a few and loves it, he thinks it's cool now cos he can see and feel baby move.

pixie hope you're ok and it sounds like you absorbed the impact with your hands and knees, with your DH's help. Huge hugs though!!

I've finally out in my notice for mat leave, going to go early (2nd June) as I work 200 miles away and I also want DP to be around for the last 2 months of preg, I feel he's been missing out. My return to work date is next year, due to job so happy with that!!!

On another note, was up most of last night with back/side aches and baby practicing martial arts I reckon! There were some massive kicks which woke me up and he/she carried on for a good few mins after each time. Still, I do love to feel baby :)

jaykay987 · 26/03/2014 13:32

liquid - if you could, that's be great.

oo00PIXIE00oo · 26/03/2014 14:43

eBay have a tommee tippee complete starter kit for £62 if anyone is interested (asda £100 tesco £99) item number 271433199722.

Plateofcrumbs · 26/03/2014 16:41

Just been for a scan for the cysts on my ovary - the biggest one is now 1/3rd bigger than it was so hoping the consultant isn't going to be too concerned when I see them next week.

Scan was in the hospital I'm due to deliver at - first time I've been there, seems nice and modern. Main problem is parking - what are you supposed to do when you're in labour, drive round for half an hour trying to get a space?! Confused

AuntieMaggie · 26/03/2014 16:47

plate I asked my friend that as she's given birth 4 times where I'm going and she said they just parked it where they could and told midwives.

breastpumps my friend said to try and borrow before shelling out as she didn't get on with an electric one. Also be aware baby may not get on with.the bottles you buy so you may have to buy others.

oo00PIXIE00oo · 26/03/2014 16:47

plate it's exactly the same at my hospital - and the car park is a 20 min walk away with the maternity unit on the top floor Confused

ZingSweetCoconut · 26/03/2014 17:13

I think PSD is backSad Angry ffs, I'm not even 2/3 through yet!

can't stand on my left leg, so I'm limping again.
hope to see osteopath tomorrow.
this one's going to cost a fortune too, it's £40 for a 20 min treatment.
(worth every penny, but if I have to go weekly.....Angry Angry Angry )

cupofteaplease · 26/03/2014 18:03

Hi. Thought I would pop on and say hi.
I have been following you all since the first thread, but haven't felt able to post yet.
I am due in July with dc4. I have dds aged 8 and 6, and my third dd died in October 2012, aged 13 months. She was severely disabled, but none of her problems were picked up antenatally, so I've been petrified since I got my BFP.
Am 23 weeks today, and bought my first baby purchase- a baby gro. So I thought I'd do another first, and join the MN antenatal thread!

Hope you are all well, I have enjoyed reading your posts.

elliejjtiny · 26/03/2014 18:43

Welcome cupoftea and congratulations on dc4. I can understand some of your worries as I have disabled DC. DS2 has ehlers danlos syndrome and DS4 has a cleft palate, hydrocephalus, immature brain, development delay and hypotonia.

fifi669 · 26/03/2014 19:12

That's awful cupoftea :( hope you have an easy ride this time

Ismarah, no strange food. He was hardly eating at all but managed a bit of toast and some coco pops. All detergents eye have been the same for donkeys. He's right as rain now and noisier than ever so I guess it was just one of those things.

Saw my bump move today :) everytime I've looked before he's stopped moving but I caught him out!

coco808 · 26/03/2014 19:24

thank you ice I will look into the physio tonight. glad to know it really helped you
jaykay its awful that you are developing SPD too. Hope it would not get any worse

liquid it would be very helpful to look at the notes...thank you!

auntiemaggie I love Bristol Smile and the people but not the pavements and the parking Wink. we were in Clifton all day. Couldn't find any baby shops though.

plate how was the holiday??

welcome cupoftea and I'm so sorry for your loss. Think we have been through the most dangerous weeks by week 20, if I am right? Fingers crossed and all the best Smile

icklekid · 26/03/2014 19:33

My friends told me they parked up in emergency spaces by entrance to hospital dtemperature use car park at all- I guess dh can move it after birth or if obviously will be a while but still. Parking is also horrifically expensive at our hospital we normally get the free shuttle bus from park and ride 10 mins away for appointments but thats unlikely to be possible when in labour!

Had 25 week midwife appointment and got to hear heart beat for first time which was amazing- have seen at scans but not heard before. Managed to persuade dh to come so nice he was there too! Didn't make me want a doppler though. Baby was kicking away in waiting room so at least I wasn't worried going in. Also measuring alright.

Asked about scarlet fever and they said stay away from said children- if I get temperature or feel unwell to go see doc asap!

ZingSweetCoconut · 26/03/2014 20:29

cupof

so sorry to hear about loosing your precious little DD, so sadSad

Congratulations on this pg, totally understand it will be a 'holding my breath" one - but hopefully it will be a healthy baby, no reason why it shouldn't.

glad you joined us, the more the merrier! Smile

Patchwork88 · 26/03/2014 22:15

I see there's lots of chat about spd ( or pelvic girdle pain as my physio tells me it should now be called).
Anyone who hasn't yet seen a physio I completely recommend it. I first got pain at 10 weeks so went to the GP who referred me to the physios. I've been seen pretty much every 2 weeks since, with loads of helpful exercises and advice. Next week I'm going for my first hydrotherapy session too, which I'm told is lovely.
I know not every employer is the same but in my organisation the time off for antenatal appointments includes physio or anything that's medically advised for anything pregnancy related and there's a real encouragement for managers to be fully supportive (my HR head is telling me it's part of your statutory rights, but need to double check). Depends on your job/who you work for but if you ask you might find they'll give you more time off than you think and it's certainly worth it so you can actually move about/not cringe in pain every time you stand up.
Without the physio I would probably be unable to move by now!
