I've been counting down since Christmas!! I've got 25 school days left! I'm going on maternity leave early and moving to Chester to be with my DH, we currently live at opposite ends of wales whilst I work my leave until early mat leave! Looking forward to a lovely 10 weeks off before baby is due!

AuntieMaggie · 25/03/2014 09:37

ickle pain free sleeping? Whats that?

Am a bit confused about my bump which is most hard and prominent above my belly button... is that normal?

Busy day today... need to call about antenatal classes, got 25 week check and yoga later.

Anything I should be asking mw at this point?

AuntieMaggie · 25/03/2014 09:40

Omg I just counted my days... anywhere between 40 and 55 days left depending when I finish and if I take any days off!

KitKatChick · 25/03/2014 09:53

It's getting very close indeed, even though not so much for me yet as I'm due right at the end of July. Haven't even thought about when to start my maternity leave. We're getting another permanent person in my team so I'm hoping my work will be quite flexible as I have no idea how long I'll be comfortable working for. On the other hand I would rather take most of my maternity leave when the baby is here.

In other news the rain is great for hay fever as I've woken up looking like a human being!

ZingSweetCoconut · 25/03/2014 11:33

Maggie

if top of your tummy is harder baby's probably breech so head is just under your ribs.
also muscles and organs being pushed upwards mean it's all a bit crowded anyway.

It's normal.
I get a lot of pain in that area, my muscles ache especially in the evening.

ZingSweetCoconut · 25/03/2014 11:37

I was thinking about dates this morning too.

I'm due on the 15th, but as I can't be induced I'll be booked in for an ELSC towards end of July.
I think I'll book Monday the 28th, they would not let me go beyond the 29th anyway.

I'd love 28/7/14 - as each number can be divided by 7.
it would be very fitting for #7, don't you think? Smile

AuntieMaggie · 25/03/2014 11:41

Mine too zing and baby seems to be more active in the evening - the other night I had a lot of trapped wind and baby was very active and it felt like it was pushing it around my tummy. DP could hear it!

Very tired today - no real reason... I could do with a nap before yoga but don't think I'll have time :(

AuntieMaggie · 25/03/2014 11:44

Sounds perfect zing Grin

Quick update, still reading just no time to post! In the process of decorating, awaiting carpet fitter for dd's new room. All baby clothes sorted and organised into vacuum pack bags, i cant explain the joy of getting that task completed! All white newborn bits out and ready, you really do forget just how small they are!

Had 4d hd live scan on Sunday after disaster of 20 week pictures, was amazing sonographer was brilliant and i got to see baby, and the baby looks so like their big sister its uncanny! Incredible to make the face out so clearly! I always had reservations about them showing too much as i want a surprise but was no bother as baby is breach so she couldn't make anything out even if i wanted to! All measurements brilliant and i thought i was in for a bruiser of a baby but currently measuring up at 2 pounds and on track to be 7-8 pounds. Keep looking at all my pics and getting so excited!!

mummytobejuly2014 · 25/03/2014 13:10

wow zing no 7!
in your experience how many vests/sleepsuits in size first born (up to 10lb) & how many 0-3 did u need to start off with? trying not to buy too much as we both have big families & will prob get clothes/outfits as gifts

AuntieMaggie · 25/03/2014 15:06

25 week check done - couldn't get a clear heartbeat cos the little monkey wouldn't stay still Grin but everything ok apart from that. Came home booked antenatal classes, GTT, whooping cough vaccine and next mw appt... not going to be in work much now am I?!

ZingSweetCoconut · 25/03/2014 15:41

MrsC

that is so lovely to read!
mine is in 2 weeks time - I can't wait!

mummytobe

that's tricky - how much you will use per day depends on number of exploding nappies, how sickly baby is and how often you put on a load of washing!

I'd say 2 fresh ones/day is ideal, but might proove to be hopeful if baby possests after each feed! See how it goes.
I'd say 6 is a minimum, but 9-10 are probably better.
also as you say you might be given stuff.
what you don't want is using up 5/day and run out on the second day as you couldn't get a wash done!
I'd buy an extra pack of the cheapest, unisex stuff on top of the nicer things - for emergencies.
if not used you could always return or give away.

for 0-3 months the only things you really need are popper vests and babygrows, but it's nice to have little clothes for outings/visiting etc.

hth Smile

ZingSweetCoconut · 25/03/2014 15:46

also depending on makes and baby's size some first clothes might be to big/small/wide - you really can't predict how things will fit (very annoying)

IME Next and GAP suit slim & tall babies better, and Mothercare and Tesco are for the chubsters (had both type!Grin ).
H&M, TU & George are sort of in between.

ismarah · 25/03/2014 16:05

Zing Love your maths!

I've started wondering what bean will look like, who she'll take after more and that sort of thing. Also dreamt she'd been born and I was the first one on the thread and had to post it! Weird dreams kicking in, clearly..

Had a pedicure today and the (Asian) lady was very excited about bean until I said it was a girl. Then she tried to comfort me and said the next one would be a boy. She was a bit stumped when I said bean would be an only bean! Grin

mixi82 · 25/03/2014 18:59

I've been having the weird dreams thing too! As we don't yet know whether it's a girl or boy, I've had dreams where I just can't tell, some are boys and others girls. Had one dream where baby weighed a ton and I couldn't pick him/her up! Just had one where I was making baby laugh in the mirror with kisses, was so much fun!

On the not so fun side, I've been having trouble sleeping as my back is starting to ache and so are my sides/rib area. I have no idea what to do about that apart from sleep on my back but heard at these stages it's not a good idea :(

oo00PIXIE00oo · 25/03/2014 19:32

Hi ladies I gave myself such a fright today - am soaking in a warm bath now but still a little tearful :(

DH met me for lunch (a rare event) and walking to the shops I caught my heel on a dodgy manhole cover and fell forward on to my hands and knees DH was holding my hand so stopped me falling heavy. I have been drinking cold drinks and prodding ever since to keep the little man moving ( he must be getting sick of me Blush)

Instructions from mw to rest and call if I have stomach cramps or bleeding :( nothing can go wrong this is my last chance....

mummytobejuly2014 · 25/03/2014 19:52

bignhugs pixie. if it was your hands & knees & your DH half caught you then everything should be fine :)
im a clumsy clutz at the best of times so have been avoiding heels as I dont need anything to add to my lack of balance now bump is getting so big

icklekid · 25/03/2014 20:04

Oh no pixie I fell early on and still got bruises on my knees but all was fine.

After moaning about gym with physio yesterday my back has been amazing today! Still feel very sick this eve but much less pain so so happy!

Glad to see I'm not the only one counting down anyway! 1 less now...is it too early for bed?!

fifi669 · 25/03/2014 20:53

3d scan booked in for Sunday, DP thought it was this week so that was a bit disappointing!

C section booked, baby will be coming sometime between 3rd and 10th, they'll ring closer to the time to confirm.

DS is better today thank god. Had a dash to the hospital last night as a rash appeared all over him. By the time we were seen it had started to fade and then right as rain today!

ZingSweetCoconut · 25/03/2014 21:18

oh pixie

how scary! if you didn't bang your tummy you both will be fine!

when I was 7 months pg I was lying on the floor on my back when DS5 unpredictably jumped to sat on my tummy.
he literally did a dive, butt first (like waterbombing).
it was bloody painful so I drove straight to A & E where they checked me out.
all was fine.

baby's are very well protected and the amniotic fluid is an excellent shock absorber.

try not to worry. it will be ok.Smile Thanks

ZingSweetCoconut · 25/03/2014 21:36

Yay, Yay, DH just felt baby kick for the first time - literally 5 mins ago!

4 kicks in total, first one was really big.

Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile

so happy! and about time!Wink

AuntieMaggie · 25/03/2014 21:42

ickle what was the outcome with the scarlet fever? Did you speak to the mw? There was a massive sign at the clinic today saying for any rash or exposure to call mw or gp.

pixie glad you're ok - a work colleague went absolutely flying on wet bathroom floor when pregnant and she was fine but I don't know how as she landed so hard I cried!

zing thats lovely. dp has only felt it once cos it always stops when he tries to feel it. though mw could see movement as well as hear it today!

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy · 25/03/2014 21:53

Good evening. Smile

I've not posted for ages because it's been so hectic for me recently. To put this into perspective, I got my first iPad at the start of the month and it was two weeks before I had enough time and energy to take it out of the box and set it up!

First thing I've got to say to you all is that I'm not very impressed with all this talk of mini eggs when I'm not in the uk and have not had any this year yet. And tonight I'm away on business in a hotel and I don't have any chocolate at all (emergency little chocolate chip cake doesn't count). Anyway it's a good job I'm going to the UK soon so I can stock up on mini eggs.

I'm a bit worried about most of the weight gain being in the third trimester. I'm hoping not to put too much more on! I ate a MASSIVE lunch today. We were taken to an amazing restaurant. I was definitely not going to have dessert but it turned out several were ordered and put in the middle of the table to share and let's just say they were so nice I had rather more than I should have done! (And despite this I am craving chocolate this evening).

I have been terrifying myself with how few days I have left in the office versus everything I want to do before I go on leave.

Bump seems massive now. I can't imagine how it can possibly get bigger!

Time for me to say good night and go to sleep now. I had a 2 hour nap in my hotel room this afternoon when I was intending to do some work

coco808 · 25/03/2014 23:22

I'm not too bad, thanks, incapnika. Haven't booked any physio yet, I keep meaning to call around. Think I will have to pay privately as there is no way I can have time off from work to go to appointments. Unless there is a saturday appointment available privately, I am stuck with this SPD

so sorry to hear about your fall pixie and glad you are ok.

It was DH's b'day today and we had a day off booked after months. Spent the day strolling around Bristol and really enjoying before I went flying on the pavement when I went over a slippery manhole. Was a bit shook up, had a little cry and then off I went again. Then guess what? An hour later I went flying again on dog poo!!!! It just wasn't my day. And I was wearing my sensible shoes!! Couldn't go out for a meal as I was stinking of dog poo! My SPD today is the worse it has been. he ho...

ismarah · 25/03/2014 23:23

Fx Pixie

Fifi that sounds like it could be an allergic reaction, especially if he didn't have a raised temperature to give him a heat rash. Did he eat something new? Use a new detergent? Maybe see your GP, especially if it happens again?

Dragged DH shopping for baby things. Weird thing to do on holiday I suppose but he works so hard when we're home I know I won't drag him then. Everybody keeps saying not to buy too much stuff as you'll get given things but I honestly don't know who around us would. Grandparents on both sides, sure. Makes me a bit sad, this stupid expat thing.

Also felt totally overwhelmed and cheap and old-fashioned in the store as I just don't see the point in half the things and the other half we will have no room for. I suspect that my main shopping spree will be online, with a list and DH's bank card and it will all arrive in one mad pile.

There are good reasons why we haven't done any prep before now - house extension plans, holiday and so on - but now I'm just starting to feel way behind and like there's so much to do. Even if there really isn't, especially with my cunning mad pile plan. Bah.
