Hi Melsy, I did not want to put my personal email on here for same reason, someone in one of the threads below put their email address I could email that person and ask them to set me up / invite me in on conversations.

I dont know why it does not work for me properly, my friend can contact me easily on but I cant start a conversation with anyone.

i should email msn now and ask them about it.

Just going to phone the midwife thats supposed to be visiting me today to find out what time she is coming.

Congratulations Aussiemama. Hope all goes well with baby Zachary. Just make sure you are taking it as easy as you can also as you will need your strength when he comes home.

Well i ended up at the doctors y'day, have ripped open from my vagina to my anus.

Opps, will tell more, ds1 has answered the phone.......

hoppybird · 09/08/2006 10:10

Morning all!

Hope everyone's as well as can be expected.

Aussie - many congratulations on the birth of little Zachary! Good he's off the ventilator, and he WILL get there with the feeding - my ds was also nil by mouth in SCBU (not intensive care SCBU though) and building up the feed seemed to take a forever (incremental increases of 1ml per hour) - but the staff in those units are the best and know what they're doing. Hope he's well enough to come out soon!

Welcome bugpurple! I'm sure you'll gain lots here, both on MN in general and with this little group.

Melsy - know what you mean about the little early risers. DS showed up at my bedside at 7am (early for him). But then, I don't help myself - me and ds are naturally night owls and tend to go to bed after 1am due to working. My brain doesn't seem to get going until about 11pm!

Freddy - fingers crossed for you it happens soon! (and all the others on the verge of popping) Hope we hear good news today from the notably absent few!

Am currently enjoying siting on my birthing ball, though it was a struggle to get it away from ds!

PinkTulips · 09/08/2006 10:17

ouch do we even want to know how Snow?

poor babe, get some Calendula cream for it, works wonders... will you need stitches?

olivo · 09/08/2006 10:24

Morning! glad to hear everyone is ok for now!

OMG - snowboo - are you ok - sounds horrible! ouch!

Bursting - I was given a 1% hydrocortisone cream - not sure whether it works yet as i was up most of the night itching with cold showers and ice packs and wet face cloths and the like - i know most things take a while to kick in so will persist. i was most worried about the possible liver thing as my hands and feet had started too but they will ring me if they have news of blood results before my appt on friday.

off out for lunch with the people from my antenatal class who have all had their babies - will be weird to be the only one sporting a bump and will have to selectively listen to birthing stories i think!

gloomy day here so am going to try and finish the nursery, just curtains and light to put up really, and clothees to put away and then I'M READY!!!

hoppybird · 09/08/2006 10:26

Snowboo! Good Heavens!

Hope it's better soon!

bugpurple · 09/08/2006 11:37

hi everyone.

Just a bit of info on me as i am new to the group:-
my baby is due monday 14/8/06! so not long to go now, I am expecting a boy. It is my first baby.

I live in belper, derbyshire with my husband. I have been off work now for 3 weeks, before that I was extremeley busy working in a shop as a supervisor! I have had a pretty easy pregnancy, apart from getting vertigo for 3 weeks - which was horrid! and the usual bad back! its not been too bad but I am at the stage now were I ma getting bored and impatient, but also scared of giving birth! and the reality of bringing home a newborn hit me yesterday! suddenly felt an ernormous amount of pressure and responsiblity!

Hope to catch up with you all later today, got to go to the midwife now for another poke and prod!
and mustnt forget the sample, I cant even see anything anymore so only ever manage to get a little bit in the jar!!!!

Thanks for making me feel welcome
Bugpurple

SnowBoo · 09/08/2006 12:07

Bugpurple, i was terrified with ds1 but once things got going i forgot to be scared and just wanted him out! Once he's out you'll forget anyway and its all worth it. Espec as my new baby has been smiling at me today. Makes all my pains seem like nothing. You'll be fine, just try and relax til the big day!

I have been looking after dh (tummy bug) ds1, lively little thing and ds2, newborn, as good as gold but someone has to feed him!! All this since having him on Weds last week and i've only just stopped. So from the rushing about, walking to the shops, geting ds out of the house i have managed to overdo it and rip myself to shreds.... To make things worse i can't do anything about it, just rest and hope it heals. Feel fine in myself, just no good at the feet up thing. Gonna go mental just sitting for hours on end. Might need to be re-stitched if its bad tomorrow.

So lesson of the day: Its called Post Natal CARE for a reason. Do as you are told and not as you like.....Learnt my lesson the hard way!

BigHotMama · 09/08/2006 12:28

Ouch Snowboo that sounds painful hun hope it gets sorted and you should be taking it easy!

Well morning everyone hope your all well, had a hot chilli last night hoping that might get something moving but nope still here and Freddy I'm right behind you at least your not only one gone past due dates chick! At the end of the day it seems like our babies are too happy and content, and my mom reckons happy baby inside the womb is a happy baby outside too so fingers crossed she's right!

Congrats to Aussiemama, sorry to hear about baby Zachary's condition, hope he gets well soon chick, bet you've been at your wits'end! Sending lots of healing vibes x

Welcome BugPurple! Cant believe you've only just found us? I'm having my 1st baby too and not sure on the sex but heading towards a boy for some reason?

Trix my 2 best friends have had august babies and they are both really clever for their ages even though they are amongst the youngest in their years. I wouldnt worry too much hun as it does all depend on the individual. I'm really looking forward to summer birthday parties outdoors

Still no news from Eeny yet? Hope she's ok!
How about Yellow, Booby and Blossom? Oooh hope we get some news soon i cant contain myself!

Am off out to lunch with my sister now so will hopefully check on here tomorrow for update..(thats if I'm not in labour myself lol)

lunavix · 09/08/2006 14:09

congrats aussiemama, fingers cross for a good recovery for zachary.

Been feeling really ick. Saw midwife yesterday and she thinks I may be 2/5 engaged, although apparently that means nothing in second pregnancy.

Started getting a bad pain last night, I tend to get bowel pains as I get constipated easily and painfully so I thought it might be that (it's below the bump iykwim)

It lasted all night - I couldn't lie on my back at all and lying on my side was sore. I've still got it a bit today but it's coming and going a little - not regularly though, it'll come and last an hour, then go then come back suddenly etc. Was praying it wasn't contractions as it was far more intense than I had with ds! I don't think it is though, it doesn't feel right.

Keep getting shuddery shooting pains right in my back too, but again hours apart but they kill when they're here. Feeling sorry for myself!

dreamydowler · 09/08/2006 14:16

just read the july thread and Iamblossom gave birth to a boy toby weighing 8lb 8 yesterday she is still in hospital. Baby is in special care as he needed forceps but she sounded delighted.

dreamydowler · 09/08/2006 14:18

Hi lunar you could do with getting this checked just incase you have a urinary tract infection. Do you suffer from irritable bowel? it also could be that if baby pressing on your bowel

freddysays · 09/08/2006 15:23

Hi all, lunavix, try some figs adn plenty of water it will get your poo out if thats it or a cup of hot water it might be gas...

I am off to hopefully have sweep today. I am going to beg for it if i have too. I am having lots of crampy feeligns now so good sign and feeling very hormonal and grouchy which i also hope is a good sign rather than just the by product of this tiresome situation...7 days over!!!

Big hotmama, glad to have another past dater to empathise with, but sayign that everyone else esp the poppers have been soooo supportive...thank you all.

Lets hope the sweep gets me off tonight. My ds is at his grannys now and she is taking him to nursrey tomorrow so it would be just perfect and undisruptive. If only my best plans worked out for once....

Be in touch soon take care all & thanks again for your words of encouragement

PinkTulips · 09/08/2006 15:24

good luck freddy, hopefully we'll have some good news from you in a couple of days

dreamydowler · 09/08/2006 15:45

good luck freddy let us know how you get on with the sweep. Hope you are feeling better lunar

sarahlou1uk · 09/08/2006 15:59

Just got back from seeing mw. Although I'm 39 weeks in 2nd pregnancy, wouldn't do a sweep - wouldn't even check me!! Says I'm 2/5 engaged but as Luna says, doesn't mean a thing in 2nd pregnancy. Next time I see her will be when I'm 41 weeks. Hoping I won't make that appointment as I am going to encourage her to come out well before that!!! Got my best friends wedding to go to on 31st so I want to have had dd and be rested prior to the big day.

Snowboo - OUCH!!!

Freddy - hope you got your sweep

Luna - I am getting pains in my side when I sleep but it's due to dd prefering to lie on my left side and refuses to shift! I am also getting regular pains below the bump. The only way I can describe it is when you're laid in bed on your side with knees up and you need to go to the toilet. When you roll onto your back and stretch out your legs - that's the pain!!!

Hope everyone else OK. Hope Booby, Eeny & Yellow are OK. Lots of good vibes being sent your way >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

dreamydowler · 09/08/2006 16:38

never mind sarahlou Im sure you wont go that long now back to natural methods then

purpleturtle · 09/08/2006 17:14

Well, I opted for reflexology instead of the massage yesterday, in the vain hope it would encourage something. But no. . Brought a clary sage/jasmine blend home to use too.

Learnt something today though: apparently, adrenalin inhibits the progress of labour. So all that nervous anticipation every time you get a strongish Braxton Hicks could be suppressing the very thing you want to happen! How come I never knew that before?

Last time a MW came she said that my baby has a girl's heartrate. This morning a different MW volunteered that it's a boy. One of them will be right.

dreamydowler · 09/08/2006 17:18

sounds like it was nice though purple maybe you could get dh to continue the reflexology at home after rubbing your clary sage/jasmin oils into your bump hopefuly you will feel like a few more natural methods then

bugpurple · 09/08/2006 17:24

I had midwife today and I will be due on monday they told me that I am 3/5 engaged is that good or bad? getting quite a few braxtons today and yesterday and a heavy feeling. Having the same problem as everyone else with the sleeping, i bought a piece of foam recently to support my ribs, as they kill after a few hours, my bundle of joy prefers my left side! really want to sleep on my back but that gives you belly ache! aaarh.

And i am sure I am getting paranoid and hormonal! keeping on convincing myself my husband is having an affair and feel like biting his head off past to nights!!! poor bugger is this all normal or am i going crazy?

dreamydowler · 09/08/2006 17:38

its totally normal bugpurple wait till you are in labour and swearing at him lol 3/5ths engaged is good it means midwife can only feel 2/5ths of your babies head now. As far as sleeping on your left I know what you mean Its a real pain sometimes but its better for baby

bugpurple · 09/08/2006 17:41

oh thats good i did wounder what 3/5 meant! if it had 3/5 to go? but that makes more sense.
cheers

YellowFeathers · 09/08/2006 18:27

Hi all!
