bugpurple · 08/08/2006 18:04

hi there I have only just discovered mumsnet at 39 weeks pregnant! my first baby is due on monday and i have just been to a antenatal class on feeding and babies and generally now feel a bit depressed and irretable! dont know whats wrong with me! is there anyone else who is due around the same time and how are you feeling?

freddysays · 08/08/2006 18:06

Hey all, you all sound so well!!
Doubt any of you want to hear this as you all approach your due dates but I am now 6 DAYS OVER TOMORROW I AM 41 WEEKS ARGHHHHHHHHHH

I can not belive it such a downer, i am green about all the early poppers but delighted to hear of the new safe arrivals.

Not sure if i have a bit of mental block going on my ds was exactly on time and this time round i am worried about him and childcare arrangements, all though I am desperate for this big boy inside to be born, i never know when is a good time, grandparents are all on stand by and dp is always near by but its the only thing i think of as to why this little one wont join us, he is well formed big and healthy so why o why?????

Any how sweep hopefully tomorrow its got to work

I am the most over due on this thread...thats about my luck

bugpurple · 08/08/2006 18:12

its really hard not to get your heart set on the date you are given! I know i will be thinking about it all day monday, everytime i phone someone they say have you dropped yet? or any contractions? aarh! i feel massive and worry that i will run out of space for my baby

freddysays · 08/08/2006 18:25

You know if your dates were pretty accurate you will be fine, i knew my lmp last time but this baby was unplanned so thats prob why I am late.

It is a bummber but dont let me bring you down.Stay positive and you may well pop before, there are loads of tips on encouraging labour on this thread or previous ones. Most are fun, the usual sex, walking, pineapple, cumin tea, reflexology etc. GOod luck x

bugpurple · 08/08/2006 18:30

thank you!

keep me posted how you get on!

x

dreamydowler · 08/08/2006 18:33

bugpurple · 08/08/2006 19:02

thank you! its nice to be able to talk to people - especially when its your first baby, it seems such a mind field of information and advicwe and if i am honest its all a little scary! but now i have found this site i will defo use it.

freddysays · 08/08/2006 19:25

Oh dreamy i have tried it all and now i just have to leave it to destiny i suppose...

I kep popping the homeopathic remedies, rasp leaf tabs, drinking tea copulating much to my other halfs pleasure and I am currently sitting on an exercise ball....

He will come when he is good and ready.

I am goign to find a good middle name that is maybe in another language to sum up my aniticpation or frustration at his tardiness!!!!

Be in touch wiht good news soon I HOPE x

dreamydowler · 08/08/2006 20:12

I hope so freddy look forward to hearing your good news soon. Dont ever be afraid to ask anything here purplebug or to tell us of your fears there are lots of us not first time mums(this is my 7th) that need someone to chat to and reassurance we are all there for each other and we are all hoping to keep in touch after babies are born and meet up a couple of times a year

sarahlou1uk · 08/08/2006 21:11

Welcome Purplebug. As Dreamy says we're all very friendly on here. Anything you are worried about - try us first! There are first time mums as well as 2nd, third and seventh (Dreamy) so we've all got plenty of advice to share!

Re August v September babies - I'm an August baby (29th) and was one of the highest achievers when I went to school xxxxx number of years ago! As Dreamy says, it depends on the child.

sarahlou1uk · 08/08/2006 21:12

Sorry forgot to say, I'm 39 weeks tomorrow!!!!

PinkTulips · 08/08/2006 21:27

hello bugpurple, give us your due date and any other details like whether it's a boy or girl and whereabouts your from and we'll add you to the list

poor freddy, sounds like your getting a wee bit annoyed at baba by now! hopefully the sweep will get him moving for you pet

Aussiemama · 08/08/2006 21:32

Hello all,

Been a long time since I posted because sadly our little boy has encountered some difficulties in his first few weeks. Zachary was born on the 26th of July (a little early) and has been in intensive care ever since. He has been struggling to breath and has been on a ventilator for most of that time. He is now starting to improve and has come off the vent but is struggling to digest milk - a result of being on so many drugs for so long. He has had a couple of lung infections and a collapsed lung. The docs aren't sure what caused it, possibly because my waters broke 48 hrs before he was born, possibly because he was a little early, probably just bad luck.

Hope everyone else is having a much calmer, safer and happier time!

olivo · 08/08/2006 21:34

Hi everyone! welcome bugpurple! i hope you find mumsnet as helpful as I have - as the others have said, we will discuss anything!!

I'm sitting here with my steroid cream on furiously trying not to scratch - not a happy girl, dont have willpower at the best of times.

going to start my raspberry leaf tablets tomorrow, and also have bought a fresh pineapple - i know you have to eat several but at least it makes me feel proactive!

i'd really like my baby to be born in august but i guess it'll come when its ready - realistically only 4 more weeks, at the very most, of fat feet and itching to go !!
freddy - good luick for your sweep tomorrow - lets hope it does the job!

olivo · 08/08/2006 21:37

Aussie - sorry x posts - must have seemed very insensitive. Congratulations on Zachary's arrival but sorry to hear about his problems. will be thinking of you and hoping all is well.

Welcome bugpurple
How's everyone else doing?
What cream have you been given olivo? I'm still getting itchy, calamine lotion calms it for a bit but I'm not too worried now as hopefully baby will arrive on Thursday I've been waking up the past 3 mornings feeling sick which lasts for a few hours then goes away. I've been feeling sick again for the last hour, not sure if it's a sign of things just around the corner

dreamydowler · 09/08/2006 07:23

Im very grumpy and not in the best frame of mind to do it all hypnobirth calm relaxed styleeeeee, so Im gonna have to find some inner something to get me back to that place!!!!!! I just dont know what to do with myselfc or dd !

trix1 · 09/08/2006 09:10

Melsey - horrible being up all night for the toilet, I dont know why last night was different for me but was only up once and managed to get back to sleep straight away.

Ive been up since 7.30am this morning and have been cleaning! Very unlike me! Dont know if its because im nesting or wether its because Ive got some friends coming round today, probably the later.

melsy · 09/08/2006 09:15
