I know that some people here have had a stretch and sweep done- I have one booked for Sunday and am interested to know whether it was successful- if os, how long did it take to go into labour? how long does the procedure take? was it painful?

If nothing happens, am I likely to have another one done before I am induced next Friday?

YellowFeathers · 24/08/2006 16:02

katylou25 · 24/08/2006 20:22

Congratulations YF fab news! Am still here - thought I might not have beren after last night - was having sort of niggling pains all day then abou 11 0'clock at night started to have strong pains 12, then 10, then 8 mins apart right through till 5.30am when I then fell asleep and woke up with NOTHING again this has been going on for days now never had anything like it with DS. So then had to cope with v v lively 19 mth old on 1 1/2 hours sleep. Teletubbies saved the day although I'm sure its brainwashing he just sits absolutely still and makes no sound for the full 40 mins it was on !

Have been having a lot of pain again today sort of acheyness and then the odd tightening pain everyso often so who knows wqhat my body is doing.

Morning! I'm still here - had lots of uncomfortableness after stretch and sweep yesterday, followed by long walk, curry and pineapple but seemed to settle and I had the best night's sleep i've had in ages!?!?! how does that work?!?! a few little niggles and backache and nausea this morning but nothing promising. back to the waiting game i suppose. he did say that things were looking ready though.

so what to do today? ball bouncing and more ball bouncing i think!

micromum · 25/08/2006 09:27

Good Morning Everyone

Well done luna wishing you all the best of luck !!

Where is everyone this morning have you all gone into labour ? I would be very jealous if you have.
Feeling on good form this morning it would be ideal if baby decided to come today, so i'm going to have a bounce on the birthing ball and see can that kick it into action.

olivo · 25/08/2006 09:35

morning micromum. there's going to be a lot of ball bouncing going on today

dreamydowler · 25/08/2006 10:00

morning girlies Im still here too Was up ALL night with dd vomiting and diarrheoa Totally knackered but must plod on finishing off nursery. Dopey and very tired dp has gone out without mobile too so hope nothing kicks off today.

olivo · 25/08/2006 10:03

oh no dreamy. try and take it easy!

dreamydowler · 25/08/2006 10:21

thanks olivo. Enjoy your ball bouncing

olivo · 25/08/2006 11:21

dreamy - are you around?

need someone with some experience! what do contractions actually feel like? is it like someone is tightening a belt around your lower bump? i'm really confused as to how you konw, if you've never experienced it before. at the moment i have cramps that are kind of like bad period pain i guess, really sore lower back and what I've described above, along with nausea.

plus a very squirmy baby!!!

dreamydowler · 25/08/2006 14:26

olivo are you still around sorry I wasnt there for you earlier how are you feeling?

olivo · 25/08/2006 14:40

hmmm. have been getting on and off pains - mostly when i move around but then they subside when i sit down. have been out for 2 half hour walks and done a bit of a ball bouncing. just dont understand how i'm meant to know what pain is what!!!
how's the nursery?

dreamydowler · 25/08/2006 14:49

hi there glad you are ok Its hard to tell even if you have had a baby before but if it is labour they wont stop when you sit down lie down or even sleep. They generally get stronger and stronger so they are taking your breath away a bit and become very regular such as every ten minutes and start to last longer. Its obvious that something is happening these pains might just be ripening your cervix then they will get stronger as you start to dilate if you are in any doubt though phone your midwife or the hospital. The nursery is getting there thanks dp just gone to collect the cot from my mums and changing unit from babies r us. It feels like we have been decorating and cleaning for months but I feel like the end is finally in site. My kittle girl is still poorly although she hasnt been sick again today but thats probably because she hasnt eaten yet

olivo · 25/08/2006 14:54

thanks dreamy. apparently my cervix was soft and fully effaced when i was examined yesterday so they are expecting it to be soon. will keep walking and bouncing!

glad your nursery is sorted, hope your little one feels better soon.
