burstingbug · 18/08/2006 10:52

Morning,
Hope everyone's ok. Anything happening yet on the progress front with anyone?
I'm still here and still waiting with no signs. Looks like I will have to keep my appt to be induced on Sunday. Can't see anything kicking off today or tomorrow

CheesyFeet · 18/08/2006 11:05

Hello August ladies, I've just updated on behalf of BabiesEverywhere here

bugpurple · 18/08/2006 11:07

morning all

well i had the clinic yesterday and had a sweep, she said i have started to dialate, which is good and i have got to say that the sweep was v.painful...sorry too put anyone off just being honest!! she thought i would go into labour in the next 24-48 hours which has made my hubby very excited!! not to mention my mother. But she also booked me in for an induction next wednesday, so whatever happens i will have a baby by next friday!! fingers crossed. nothing much has happened today though - going to go for a stroll later to maybe get things going again, where i liv e it is very hilly which i cant cope with at the moment!!keep in touch during the day. Has anyone else heard how the induction labour progresses? i have heard its really quick, is that just another person trying to scare me? xx

sarahlou1uk · 18/08/2006 12:31

Bug - re induction. I think it varies from mum to mum. Depends on what method of hormone you are given, eg., pill under tongue or intravenous drip into hand or pessary up you know where!!! I've heard various stories from ones ranging from nothing to contractions in 30 mins to labours lasting over 30 hours after induction! Hoping my little one puts in a appearance before I get to that stage . Am now 2 days overdue and whatever happens, just got to realise that she will be out in the next 12 days by whatever method necessary (although would much prefer to go the planned route: home water birth!!)

bugpurple · 18/08/2006 12:51

i think i must be having a off day today as totally fed up with being overdue! i was taking it in my stride before and getting on with it but now it seems a big deal! i think i need to chill out a bit! thanks for the info on induction the nurse really didnt think i would get to that stage but i am not so sure!! having a few tweeky pains today so lets hope the sweep did the trick.

xx

AGJ · 18/08/2006 13:06

well I went into hospital at 8 this morning to be induced only to wait around for a while, have the baby checked and get sent home again because the ward is still full with inductions from yesterday. I have got to phone later to see if i can go in, but I am not too hopeful for today now. Don't feel like this baby is ever going to come out!

micromum · 18/08/2006 13:39

Hi everyone, my waters broke last night but only a little bit (half a cup) thought something might happen in the night but nothing. I didn't sleep very well kept tossing and turning, dh was very excited thought he wouldn't have to go to work this morning, but i told him to go as nothing is happening. Am going to see m/w this afternoon just to have a check hopfully something will start soon. Will let you know how i get on.

bugpurple · 18/08/2006 14:32

oooh exciting stuff!

:0

dreamydowler · 18/08/2006 17:20

Hi girlies how is everyone? Hope things are progressing nicely for you micromum at least you are on your way now AJG how awful for you I would have cried I hope you are either there now or very soon and wish you lots of luck How are your pains going bugpurple doesnt sound like you will be much longer either its all been happening Olivio thanks for your well wishes she is keeping her options open to her and has a couple of interviews over the next few days. Trix hope you are ok sounds like your waters have gone hope you are in labour as I type and doing really well. Im off to Lancaster uni tomorrow with my daughter and then have my baby shower in the evening so yet another busy day Its her friends 18th today so no doubt more drinking and partying tonight why oh why did I choose this time of year to be so heavily pregnant I must be insane. Baby kicking like crazy and still lots of pressure but hoping I wont go into labour whilst in Lancaster tomorrow. Hope everyone else is well and look forward to hearing some good news when I get back tomorrow evening

ronniemummy · 18/08/2006 19:59

congratulations to all those who have popped their little bundles of joy. I am due on Monday but have had no signs at all that anything is imminent. I don't normally post but read the posts everyday, but thought I would add to those who are going over and fed up of waiting!!!

At my MW app yesterday- found out that baby's head is still only 4/5ths engaged, so hasn't dropped any further in 6 weks. Any tips on how I can encourage baby's head to lower. Do you think that I can still go into labout without baby's head being engaged?

Good luck to those who are presently having some action!

dreamydowler · 18/08/2006 20:15

hi ronniemummy Its nice to hear from you and hope you feel a little more able to post. There has been lots happening on here lately and we would love to hear your news too when do you have tgo to the midwife next?

sarahlou1uk · 18/08/2006 21:32

Try getting on all fours and rocking backwards and forwards. Alternatively, stand with hips apart and rock hips round like you have a hoop around you (you know when you were a kid!)

AGJ · 18/08/2006 22:04

thanks dreamy, my induction has been rescheduled to Sunday now. It was very frustrating having it cancelled but I was half expecting it as same thing happened to my sister in law. I think Friday must be the busiest day because they have a backlog from the rest of the week.

The only good thing is that i could still go into labour before sunday so i could be at home for a while which is what i wanted ideally but no signs of anything happening so far.

dreamydowler · 18/08/2006 22:19

well I hope it all goes well for you on Sunday and look forward to hearing about your new addition soon

noodlekitkat · 18/08/2006 22:22

Hi girls! Just checking who else is still preggers?

Congrats to all the new arrivals!

noodlekitkat · 18/08/2006 22:26

ronniemummy: mine isn't engaged either

will try the hula business sarahlou1uk is suggesting also!

dreamydowler · 19/08/2006 08:24

good morning just checking to see if any more babies arrived last night but noone about yet hopefuly thats a good sign and you are all busy popping well off to Lancaster this morning to have a look at the uni there with dd fingers crossed I dont pop or leak until I get home lol

freddysays · 19/08/2006 08:24

HORRRAY!!!!

He's here FINALLY. Rafferty arrived 14 days late, i was induced with some gel on the 13th evening and it worked straight away...bit too fst if you ask me, he was born in less than 8 hours, it was really sore and intense and i went from 3cm to fully dilated in 2 hours, gas and air only and no tears but most importantly

HE WAS 10lb 7oz

WHAT A WHOPPER

I am wrecked it was intense but we home happy and healthy and getting on with life feeding and negotiating the dynamics of my over energetic 2.5 yr old.

Hope you are all well....thanks for supporting me through my long wait I went a bit mad there for a bit, but well worth it.....

Gonna catch up on the news now and be in touch soon, had some sleep last night to feel hte most human I have in a long time....

Congrats freddysays Glad he's finally out!

No twinges here, nothing.

I'm starting to think maybe the first edd they gave me (the same as olivos) was correct, so it's not going to come for a while yet...

burstingbug · 19/08/2006 09:15

He's here! BBug's waters went last night while she was bathing DS. 6 hours later, at 1:45 this morning, DS#2 made his appearence. 53cm, 8lb 6oz. All appendages present and correct, and lungs that would fill St Pauls Cathedral.

She'll be out tonight, so I'm sure she'll fill you in when the boy's down.

As for me, I'm going to get some sleep!

BBug's DH.

micromum · 19/08/2006 09:24

hi everyone, seen m/w yesterday she told me that my waters hadn't broken and I must have weed my self. You would think i would know if i had weed myself. I came away feeling really silly and a bit upset as i thought it was starting early. Oh well back to the waiting game again.

PinkTulips · 19/08/2006 11:56
