Hello everyone!
So many still (im)patiently waiting! Sounds like Melsy,Freddy and perhaps Yellow may be well on the way?
I have just come back from my scan. Unfortunately, results weren't good. For a start, baby's abdominal measurement is under the 5th centile again (ie not on the graph), but more importantly, fluid is very low, as it seems the placenta isn't functioning as it should be - the same happened to ds. However, unlike ds, it's not an emergency as the cord is still managing to deliver enough blood to the baby (ds had knotted his) and I've managed to carry almost to term (I'm now 39 weeks) without going into premature labour. However, the consultant said if I were to go into labour naturally now, the contractions would cause baby distress because it wouldn't have that cushion of fluid, and it is not possible to induce or speed up labour because of risk of scar rupture, so I have been advised another C-section.
I have been on a CTG monitor today, to measure distress levels - everything fine so far. Have to go in tomorrow as well, if everything is still ok I go home with a day's reprieve, and baby has now been officially booked in to arrive on Friday 18th, and will probably weigh only around 5lb (hopefully they've got that bit wrong). I do hope he/she will be able to avoid SCBU.
I'm actually a lot more disappointed than I thought I would be - gutted even - and envious of those who are allowed to go into labour naturally and have a normal-sized baby. I'm just obviously no good at placentas [insert weak smile emoticon].
