Hey there all,

Thank you all for all your goodwill wishes for Zachary. He is still in intensive care (2 and a half weeks now) but is improving. I have finally been able to feed him myself which has been great. He is now crying, wriggling and generally looking like a normal baby (if you ignore the drip, the feeding tube and the long line in his foot!). The worst thing is leaving him at night time - I am desperate to have him home.

Congrats to all who have given birth! I have just skim read but I noticed that someone was itching, whoever it was has anyone mentioned PUPPP to you? I had it in the last few weeks of my pregnancy (it is not connected to Zach's problems) and the only thing that stopped the itching was Sudocrem. It dried my rash out and stopped me from wanting to tear my skin off!

hoppybird · 12/08/2006 22:24

Evening everyone, hello and welcome new ladies!

Luna - So sorry your dh isn't being understanding. Hopefully, when it comes down to it and you're actually in labour he'll get his act together?

Eeny, pucca, booby - like Luna says, it sounds absolutely wonderful how loved up you are - I really missed out on that first time round (ds straight to incubator, no chance to bond). I am dearly hoping this time will be as it should be. Glad to hear bf is going so well.

Bighotmama - yes, I'm known for remembering odd facts! re: music I'm using - well, i've made up a very short list (only 12 tracks) which I play on repeat, but they're ones I just love hearing over and over without getting tired of. I've chosen mostly slow tracks but with a beat: a bit of Pink Floyd/Syd Barrett, one Vangelis track, REM mostly, including 'Find the River', 'Be Mine' (which was our wedding song), 'I've been High' some Peter Gabriel - my absolute favourite being 'Blood of Eden' which I wish would go on forever, also 'Don't Give up' (with Kate Bush). Actually, that's the only track with a female voice - I find listening to a particular type of male voice very soothing and relaxing. What have you been listening to, BHM?

Aren't birthing balls great?! love mine. Anyone used one during labour? I plan to - was wondering if it really helped? I suspect it might be the most comfortable thing to sit on afterwards too!

Best of luck to all the very expectant ones amongst you!

melsy · 13/08/2006 09:21

morning girls

awww lunavix , I so sympathise with how you feel . I was sat nearly in tears reading yuor post, my dh as you know has not been great thisd time around either. His saving grace is that he does the shopping and cooks for me. but the price I pay sometimes is someone who isnt always nurturing, caring or connected with me. I screamed and screamed at him last night and I think he got the picture as he came and said sorry.

Olivo hows babys movements now , did u get it checked out? Have u thought of homeopathic remedy for itchy belly , Ive used it for nasty nasty ezma breakout around my eyes and it went totally. I really dont know about there use in pg though.

Ausseimama , hoping Zahcary can come home soon. Glad hes feeding better now.

NIce to see u Bhm , dont think weve chatted for a while

eeny , poor mummy , hope you can get some sleep and sorry Alex isnt well. Have yet to check out yuor thread about him.

sorry but tis getting hard for me to keep up , .Ive been in proper ealry labour since thursday (think last 2weeks have been getting me ready!).Im having surges gaps anything from 4mins to 9, at most 13 mins. Some of them are quite strong , but Im telling you girls this hypnobirthing is amazing, I dont think Id have got through the last few days as I have withought it.Although despite this Im actualy really tired today ,sleep was very disturbed last night ,surs kept waking me , and sore sides from sleeping on my left too much, but most nights Im managing to sleep for long long stretches; 7 hrs FRiday . When I have a really really strong surge I find myself hypno breathing and going into a little trance, its like Ive been programmed, its quite sureal , but cool too.

Ive phoned hospital this morn as just a lttle concerned that babys moving a lot less and Im surprised with 2nd birth that this ealry stage is going on sooooo long. I mentioned hypnobirthing to her and she questioned wether I thought that may be Im further along than I think , as I was already 2cms and thinnned on THursday.I said its very possible , as was warned by practioner and a midwife who had her 3rd with hypnobrithing. So gonna see how I go the next fw hrs till lunch and may be go and get checked out. OOOH lovely another internal!!!!!

YellowFeathers · 13/08/2006 09:23

olivo · 13/08/2006 12:06

melsy - you sound like you are doing great - i'm so glad the hypnobirthing is working for you! i did have the baby's movements checked - as soon as i was put on the monitor, the naughty monkey started wriggling away!

aussie - glad to hear zachary is improving, here's hoping you get to bring him home soon. I think it is PUPPP that i have though none of the doctors have suggested it - have tried sudocreme but to no avail

eeny - hope you and Alexare feeling better today.will check out your other thread soon.

luna - hope you're being treated better today!

hoppy - i LOVE my birthing ball.

still scratching away - i must have tried every product going. am now thinking of phoning the mat unit again as it is driving me to tears every couple of hours.its now spread to my chest, bum and upper back so there is only my face and neck that are clear. totally fed up now.

feel for all of you with due dates coming and going.

YellowFeathers · 13/08/2006 13:49

Just to let you know, Melsy has gone in to hospital again.
She started having back to back contractions all of a sudden. The hospital were a bit unhelpful but by the sounds of it shes stuck to her guns and gone in to make sure things are ok.

I'm sure she'll report back if she comes home but she is 1 day over so you never know....

OP posts:
olivo · 13/08/2006 14:03

oooh! go melsy!!!!!

freddysays · 13/08/2006 14:39

good luck to those of you in labour..the hypnobirthing was something i have always been interested in but i have never been able to follow through. I never seem to isolate my mind well enough but good luck to you.

Well, still bloody here...11 DAYS OVERDUE!!!!

Had second sweep Friday but they couldnt do it, babies head was so posterior or something it would have been too painful, bit annoyed about that but at least I was 1cm dilated which is something.

THe scan showed all being well, the placneta/baby all healthy and in roughly the right position,,,,,just no contractions to get him out.

He is estimated to be 9lb 15 !!!!! can you belive it...hardly gets me willing it on but strangely I am not too disturbed. Freddy my son was 9lb8 so i hope i can cope.

Only thing is there is still no sign of him coming out...and yes i have and continue to try all methods...
Induction booked for wednesday, total nightmare of mine but maybe i need a kick start...fingers crossed i go before

Who would have thought i would have these complications second time around, experience counts for nothing, each baby is a totally new journey...crazy

Sorry some of your dps are being crap, they just dont get it eh???Knobs x

freddysays · 13/08/2006 14:41

just catching up on news, glad zachery is making some improvments, be great when you finally get him home...

also someone asked about the fundus lenght, its not weeks i dont think, i measured 42 at 40 weeks and I am nearly 42 weeks now so who knows what i measure now!! My baby is estimated to be 9lb 15 so I assume it correlates to babies size!!!

bugpurple · 13/08/2006 16:07

congrates more babies!!

Just been catching up. My baby is due tomorrow, had a few sharp pains yesterday and have been feeling sick that last couple of days, mainy in the moring. Got continous crampy feelings and the backache is back! maybe he wont be that late who knows! got the clinic thursday is he isnt here by then, dont know why i am going there and not the widwife? oh and another thing what is a sweep?

kitegirl · 13/08/2006 16:49

Hi girls, haven't been on in ages (had to wean myself off mumsnet and try the real world... ) hope you are all well, congratulations to all new babies

Miles Eliot was born on Thursday 10th Aug, 7lb6, waters broke on wed morning and as nothing had happened 24hrs later I was offered either induction or a c-section, so c-section it was. It went so much better than my first one, we came home yesterday and are doing great!

I'll catch up with you on post natal boards, until then I'll be the one on the breastfeeding threads begging for cure for sore nipples...ouch!! good luck to those still pregnant!

YellowFeathers · 13/08/2006 17:02

Awwww Kitegirl!!! Fabby
Congratulations to you all!

Am getting more and more pissed off as the day goes on so am resorting back to the rasp tea, don't know why as I don't think it works but I'll try anything now.

Freddysays, you sound quite chilled. I'd be doing my head in!!!! 11 days!!!!!

freddysays · 13/08/2006 18:04

Hey YF, nice to hear i sound chilled, feel it today, to be honest the last 11 dyas has been a total head f**K and i am now so bloody used to the dissapointment and the realisation that no homeopathy/sex/walks/pineapples/teas/sweeps actually work for me. Its tough. So i decided to give up on it in a way, and acccept that wednesday is induction day so by hook or by crook the big bundle will be here.

Stange as this sense of calm is I am unable to totally forget about it as I get the odd cramp and dull ache and so as you imagine i think maybe tonight is the night!! ARGHHHHHHHH

kitegirl · 13/08/2006 19:00

hey YF surprised to find you still here...
I think for me it was the long walks and bouncing on the birthing ball every evening for a week that broke my waters!
A bit gutted I didn't get the VBAC I wanted, I was doing everything I could to get the contractions going but they never got regular or that painful (with DS1 I never had a single contraction so I was quite excited to see what they are like - my friends said I was mad!)
Now suffering from engorged breasts, they are the size of Royal Albert Hall. Not kidding.

lunavix · 14/08/2006 08:17

awww congrats kitegirl

Argh come on all of us who are left!

trix1 · 14/08/2006 08:32

Kitegirl - Congratulations

Luna what is going on with us - we are still waiting, its my due date tomorrow and I am not even getting any twinges at all now, nothing. No energy bursts, in fact I have slept for most of the weekend.

snic · 14/08/2006 09:16

hi all. congrats to all who have delivered and good luck to those still to drop. haven't posted in ages but have been keeping up with all the news. nothing to report here yet. can anyone tell me the best and most effective way to use clary sage as i have bought some and dont really know what to do with it.

olivo · 14/08/2006 10:08

Kitegirl - congratulations and welcome to miles!

Booby - glad things are going well for you and charlie.

Hi Snic, good to hear from you.

any word from melsy?

had to go to the hospital again yesterday - the itching was totally driving me to tears and my skin is getting quite raw in places. unfortunately, they dont know what they can do, all that might clear it would be oral steroids but they dont want to give me those as they're not good for the baby. the baby is happy though and i have been getting lots of strong tightenings which were showing on the monitor. so , no real answers to the itching, i have a local anaethetic cream which i can use sparingly in small areas but since the lumps and bumps are everywhere form the neck down, have to be very choosy. am waiting for an accupuncturist to phone me back, to see if she can help. really miserable.

sorry for long, whingy post when some of you are so frustrated and overdue!

melsy · 14/08/2006 10:14

Hi olivo , Im still here . no one on msn today , really need to chat, need cheering up.

Having surges/contractions all over the place , but its not building momentum, although been every 7 mins since 7am this morn, Im not getting hopeful. Problem is Im getting tired and a bit stressed and down, which is not good for hypnobrithng to work.

Hadnt heard of PUPPP till now , do you think thats what it is? Awwwww olivo ,must be hardfor you , did you see me mentioning homeopathic treatment ?

melsy · 14/08/2006 10:21

ahhhhh Kitegirl , wondered wot happened to you hun, how you doing??. Welcome to the world Miles.

Those who have had thier babs , how are you recovering ? Sound slike some are doing really really well. eeeny hun thinking of you , sounds a bit like my experience with dd1. I had anemia very very severly after dd was born HB was 7 . So you dont feel bad about not feeding to well (as I was distraught), its to do with the anemia. My special care midwife told me , that it can cause great difficulties until your HB comes up to more normal ranges, which can take a couple of weeks of ferrous and rich vit c diet. I dont know why it causes problems Im still looking into to it, but it made me feel less guilty about it not working.
