Hi everyone, im really fed up to have to say that still nothing happening with me, although i have cramps and period type pains nothing else. Im soooo impatient.

Ive just been looking at my notes from m/w appt yesterday and in the engagement column the midwife has written 4/5 - I thought in in subsequent pregnancies the head did not engage until labour - do you think this is a good sign?

2labs · 10/08/2006 21:14

Hello, just a quickie from me to say my son Fraser was born Sunday 6th August! We only left hospital yesterday as he was having problems feeding and lost quite a bit of weight, but we think we're pretty much there now thank goodness.

Isn't it amazing how little sleep you find you can survive on... . Despite a worrying few days we are totally thrilled with our wee man. Labour was pretty short considering it was my first - waters broke at 8.30, contractions started at midnight and he was born at 4.58am. I hadn't had the slightest inkling that anything was happening before my waters broke. Hope that encourages any ladies who are getting fed up of waiting and feeling like nothing's happening... All the best to everyone.

lunavix · 10/08/2006 22:40

awww congrats 2labs

Is it just me or are our first babies mostly littlies? I expect it's as most of them have arrived a little early, but bar three they're all pretty diddy!

I know mine won't be... mw is currently predicting 8lb, if it ever decides to make an appearance

melsy · 11/08/2006 08:56

morning

Odd that no ones around , hope you are all ok?????

COngrats 2labs , hiya Fraser, cool name.

WEllllllllllll I came home at midnight from hospital, as had to wait to see registrar.and a long old night it was , went in at 6:30 , straight onto moniter ,& ended up on it for 3hrs on and off, on and off, they werent happy with the reading and thought baba was being very erratic, which the midiwfe put down to me being dehydtrated ,so had to get through a jug of water !!!Had a lovely speculum examination and she couldnt find much except loads of mucus . Lots of surges were showing up on the monitor and they only got stronger and stronger each time. The midwife with the speculum said it can help jump start things. They changed shifts and the next midwife thought that may be it was just a bit of show , so she did a full on internal and found I was 2cm dialated and all thinned out & ready to go YIPPPEEEEEEEEE. Registrar came and said that may be fore waters are very very slightly coming ,but babys head is stemming it for now. He said I could stay if I wanted as am most deffo in early labour, but I said Id rather come home for a while and relax. They all seem surprised how Im coping with surges& keep asking all about pain relief , but I definately think the hypnobirthing is helping immensly as some of it was at the top of the chart and quite prolonged.

The funniest thing was the midwife gave me a hug on the way out and said , go home have a nice bath , a hot chocolate and nice full on sex session !!!!!!!!!!PMSL.

Was up quite a lot during the night , but nothing has got estabelished, soooo Ive been on walkabout round the house since 6:30, as cant seem to get a pattern to things , hopefully it will get there soon.

olivo · 11/08/2006 09:15

melsy - great to hear things are finallly kicking off properly for you - also , you sound really confident about the hypnobirthing thing. good luck and hope to hear from you soon.

havent felt anything else much since last night, but have been a bit preoccupied - was sick in the night and then up from about 2 with more itching - its all over now, back and bum and everything . am at the doctors this afternoon so am going to beg for something stronger to sort me out once and for all.in the mean time, lots of ball bouncing to try and ignore it!!

have a good day everyone!

trix1 · 11/08/2006 09:33

Good morning all, I have had a lovely lie in and a good nights sleep. There are no pains or cramps at all now.

Olivio hope your doctor can give you something for the itching - did the tests come back to say it was nothing to worry about? It can be linked to your liver all this itching.

Melsy - good luck, I hope the next time we hear from you it will be you telling us about the safe arrival of your little baby.

Heres hopping to a few more babies arriving over the weekend.

Ive been finished work now for 4 weeks and I really thought the baby would be here now, seems like he / she is snug as bug and does not want to make an appearance yet.

freddysays · 11/08/2006 10:06

HI All, and welcome to the new editions!! well done 2labs

I am still here, sweep didnt work just gave me lots of tears I wasnt dilated so possibly thats why it didnt work I am now 9DAYS OVERDUE....going for the world record.

Feelign totally wrecked my body is exhausted i feel anxious fed up and strained..its hard to relax and let it be as I know i shoudl and all this tension cant be helping but I cant escape myself#

Got a post date clinic tonight where they measure the placenta and hopefully do another sweep, it gave me wicked cramps last tiem so maybe it will start it off tonight!!!

Anyway failing that I am booked in for induction on Wednesday..they are lettign me go the full 14 days over even thought the estimated size is 9/10lb. I am a tall women but a size 10!! normally!

I think they are being really cruel and I had a cry in front of them but to no avail, i am healthy so is the baby and my last boy was 9lb8 so as far as they are concerned I can do it and they want it to go naturally....

Anyhow, I am feeling really run down today, does anyone know if taking vit c supplement is okay now????

olivo · 11/08/2006 10:12

oh freddy, sorry to hear all that -lets hope tonights sweep starts it all off properly. dpn't know about the vitamin c. i guess you have to try and do all the 'distracting' things but I suppose you're fed up of those already. hang on in there, it'll happen soon.

freddysays · 11/08/2006 10:16

Thanks olivio i know i should put it into perspective, lots of us are having a hard time now, our itching sounds like torture!!! The end will soon come just not soon enough right now...
I need to change my attitude to a more positive one but it feel impossible right now

I wish I had a happy relaxed switch in my brain!

burstingbug · 11/08/2006 10:17

Fingers crossed that you get going before Wednesday! God, hurry up and have that baby ! I'm off to m/w at 11.30 today, 1 day overdue now, hope they may give me a sweep, if I speak to them nicely

sarahlou1uk · 11/08/2006 12:03

Freddy - really sympathise with you. I went 8 days over with ds last time and looks like I will again this time with dd (39+2 at minute and no signs yet). Silly question I know, but have you tried all the usual methods? I had a sweep at 40+5 and then started raspberry leaf tea. Ds arrived 3 days later. I see my mw next at 41 weeks when she says she'll do a sweep if I'm still waiting. It can take upto 3 days after sweep before labour starts. Hang in there and we'll all keep our fingers crossed that you go into labour naturally and not have to be induced (my worst nightmare!)

laughalot · 11/08/2006 12:09

Hi everyone sorry to crash onto your thread iv been being nosy at looking at all the new arrivals im due in jan this will be my second baby I have a ds who is 2.5, I really wanted to send a message to olivo I had the same itchy condition with my first baby as his due date was approaching they never got to the bottom of the problem but my midwife did tell me to take piriton tablets I took one at 2 oclock 5 oclock that same day I was in labour it might be worth a try anyway. I recommend them for afterwards it took about 3 weeks after giving birth for it to clear up. Good luck ladies with your little angels.

olivo · 11/08/2006 12:11

hello again - its quiet on here today - is that a good sign?

if anyone is around, can i have your advice? i didnt get much movement yesterday, did get my 10 but took till i went to bed. today seems to be the same, has moved (little stretches or squirms, nothing major) maybe 4 times, once when i gace it a bit of a gentle push. I am due at the doctors at 4 today to get the results of my liver function test etc , I can wait till then to mention it, cant I? also, does it moving in response to me pushing it count as a movement? have tried sitting quietly with some food and will try an ice lolly /hot drink after lunch.

i swear if i wasnt so bored i wouldnt worry so much!!
