olivo · 11/08/2006 12:14

laughalot - thanks for that - crossed posts with you! i will ask the doctor to prescribe them but if not, will get them from the chemist. was a bit at 3 weeks afterwards to clear up - i hoped the baby would pop out and bingo, the itchiness would have gone!!. naivety is a great thing! thanks again!

laughalot · 11/08/2006 12:30

Olivo we sound like twins the day I went into labour my midwife was round that day to look at my rash and also to check baby as I dident have much movement either, take that tablet , on a serious note though good luck with everything its the most amazing thing in the world when you have that baby in your arms.

PinkTulips · 11/08/2006 12:32

olivo, doesn't sound too worrying, they tend to move alot less in the final weeks anyway as theres so little room. definitely mention it to the doctor but dopn't panic yourself

congrats to 2labs btw, love the name!

melsy, hope things are moving along for you, on my way out the door now but i'll be on msn later if your still pacing... hopefully you'll be back in hospital by then though. good move going home though, you'll be much more relaxed without them poking you every 5 mins... good luck

trix1 · 11/08/2006 13:37

Olivio - I had this on Wed when I saw the midwife she was concerned about the lack of movement so I had to go and get checked at the hosp. Take a drink of ice cold water and lie down still, count the movements then if you are concerned I would ring the hosp or the m/w just to be safe.

i said to the hosp that I expected less movement at this stage due to lack of room in there but they said there should be at least 10 obvious movements a day, when I was on the monitor there was about 20 obvious movements in 30 minutes.

Im sure its ok just have the ice cold drink to get baby moving.

YellowFeathers · 11/08/2006 14:35

Hi all.
Am fed up today. I can't seem to get my head round the fact that I'm due on Sunday. Just doesn't feel like its going to happen.
My mum has come up so am sat drinking the raspberry leaf tea with her The minute this mug has gone I'm off for another!

Freddysays, I so so so so feel for you right now. I really hope things start to happen.
FWIW, I nagged my MW a bit on Wed for a sweep. She said no but would do one if I was still here this time next week. Could you do that?

OP posts:
freddysays · 11/08/2006 14:50

thanks all, for sympathy it does make ou feel bit better. Just went on a walk which was awkward but hopefully useful.
I woudlnt worry overly abot movement if you are off to docs anyhow. He?she is prob getting ready to come out and storing up some energy.

Got another sweep later so finers crossed for me...i cant wait anymore

Anyone used a tens machine to induce? I read in a book you could use it on the feet/ankle an acupoint. I think i will start a thread on this and see what it brings up

Speak soon

trix1 · 11/08/2006 14:50

Yellow - I know exactly how you feel, i have not even had a twinge today, im due tuesday and nothing is happening at all.

I think I will be with you on the record for going over freddy, I really sympathise with you, hopefully it will all happen soon and very quickly.

Take care all

BigHotMama · 11/08/2006 15:02

Bored....bored....bored!!! 4days overdue now and still no twinges or signs that labour is imminent. Yellow arent you getting any more cramps now? Sounded like something was happening for you not long ago? What a bummer!

Freddy hang in on there hun, must be so frustrating for the sweep not to have worked..I've got mine on Monday if still here.

Congratulations to 2labs and baby Fraser! Loving the name! Sounds like you had a nice n fast labour and there's hope for us overdue girls.

Trix I know how you feel I've been off work now for last 4 weeks and the boredom is driving me mad now, really had visions of me being a week early and it all fitting in with my plans, ha no such luck!

My ankles seem to have swollen badly today and am still getting bad spd during the night, bet I've been waking the neighbours up with my constant groaning when turning myself over.

God arent we all a bunch of fed up mums-to-be eh? Having really enjoyed pregnancy I never thought it would start to get me down like this? Just cant imagine going into labour and holding my baby? Sorry for the rant!

Has anybody heard from Arabica? Wonder how she and baby Esja are doing, been thinking of them!

Hope everyone else is doing ok and lets see more popping x x x

YellowFeathers · 11/08/2006 15:17

freddysays, I've got a tens and in the instructions it said to test on forearm and leg so I doubt it would work tbh. Sorry to pee on your strawberries! I had mine on, on wed when I was having regular tightnings but it made no difference.

I forgot to ask too, does anyone know wether the fundal height measurement is supposed to correspond with the amount of weeks you are? I've been reading my notes and the last 6 weeks, the fundal height has been slightly lower than weeks. On wed, MW has put 38cm so does that mean small baby????
Will take it to the main board and ask there but since your all round the same time it would interesting to see what all yours are.

OP posts:
BigHotMama · 11/08/2006 15:23

YF I saw on a birthing programme that it should be same number of cm as in weeks. I measured 41cm at 40 weeks so guess my baba is big 'un! Not sure how acurate it is though as they are also measuring your amniotic fluid and placenta I think?

YellowFeathers · 11/08/2006 15:27

Am just panciking slightly thinking they've got dates wrong and I've actually got another 2 weeks to go!!!!

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

OP posts:
BigHotMama · 11/08/2006 15:32

Surely your mw would have mentioned something if there was a mix up with the dates chick? Your just getting paranoid now lol you'll end up having yours before mine I bet! You've been having BH's foir ages now, I aint had 1 yet!

YellowFeathers · 11/08/2006 15:34

Stir crazy I think they call it

OP posts:
lunavix · 11/08/2006 15:35

YF I think it's meant to correspond, but mine have been smaller for the last few weeks, having said that midwife is sure baby will be around 8lb, so I'm not too worried?

Feeling for everyone who's going over, I'm 39 weeks tomorrow and crabby as anything!

BigHotMama · 11/08/2006 15:40

They should have invented pregnancy to last up to 42 weeks imo as I think the word 'overdue' terrifies us all and makes us become manic depressives lol

YellowFeathers · 11/08/2006 15:48

there should be a loopy face emoticon!

sarahlou1uk · 11/08/2006 16:15

Yellow - I wouldn't worry too much about measurements. All the way through, I have been measuring correctly against the number of weeks, but when I saw mw on Wednesday she said I measured 37 cm when I was actually 39 weeks on Wednesday.

hoppybird · 11/08/2006 16:38

Hello there, other mummies-to-be!

I'm sure your babies will come when they're good and ready. Apparently, in France, they calculate the gestation at 41 weeks!

Yellow - I'm also convinced that my due date is actually a week out, (ie should be 28th instead of 21st) as I'm sure I ovulated a lot later in the cycle than they estimated. My baby's been measuring between 2cm and 4cm under since they started measuring, but I'm a tiny titch, so genetics do play a role in this. MW not concerned, but as I've said, hosp. is because of my ds being prem. and the scans showing baby's abdominal circumference being borderline on the graphs.

BigHotMama - I have also not had any Braxton Hicks, although I think I did used to feel tightenings in my stomach whenever I walked into town towards the end of my first trimester. Not since though. I read that BH contractions happen when the uterus tries to turn the baby around the right way if it's back to back, when you've been reclining, or sleeping on your back etc. Maybe your baby's in the correct position BHM, and doesn't feel the need to rotate?

Melsy - glad you're getting there!

Well, I'm just happy mine's not early and is making plenty of movements. My next scan is on the 16th - if hosp. isn't happy with the growth, I get a section next week, if everything is going well, then I'll start to do the whole raspberry leaf tea/curry/pineapple thing in a desparate race to make sure I go into natural labour, or I get a section on the 24th!

BigHotMama · 11/08/2006 16:46

Hiya Hoppy, you've just made my day saying that ha! Mind you I do get tightenings whilst watching t.v but have often just put it down to baby stretching as they arent painful or lasting long?

Hope your scan goes ok Hoppy and baby is growing well, you sound so relaxed n chilled out compared to us nutters - we're losing it!

I'm now going to make me a jug of iced raspberry tea think it was Yellow who suggested this few wks ago - sounds refreshing!

hoppybird · 11/08/2006 17:15

BHM - I was a real panicker before I got pregnant though! I was totally worried about everything that hadn't even happened! Seemed to have found some serenity somewhere along the line.

I know music helps me a lot. My lovely dh bought me an MP3 player (with a radio) some weeks back, and I often listen to the playlist I've made up for labour. I listen to it in bed sometimes, and fall asleep with it on. Must have affected me subliminally! We're planning on taking our portable speakers with us to hosp. for the birth.

Am I right in thinking that you sing with a band, BHM? I seem to recall you saying something about it.

eenywifemum · 11/08/2006 17:51

Hi everybody!

Sal is typing this for me as I am breastfeeding a gorgeous little boy at the moment!

I can't read everything to catch up on all the news right now - I am in an endless chain of constant breastfeeding and not feeling very well so must go lie down.

I just had to come on and say hello to everybody and wish you all luck.

I'm going to try and catch up on all the news ASAP. Thanks for all your lovely messages that Sal relayed to me while I was in hospital.

It was a pretty hard labour and aftermath and it was nice knowing my freinds were thinking of me.

Will post more soon.

Lot's of love,

Eeny

PinkTulips · 11/08/2006 18:14

Hi Eeny. Lots of love to you, Sal and baby Alexander . Congratulations to you all! Look forward to chatting again once you get into a routine and have more time (does that ever happen???) Am waiting for my little bundle to arrive but no signs yet. Have had a mad clean up session this afternoon and my hips are now killing me. Hoping that this will start something off.
