Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Missingcaffeine · 26/02/2014 17:35

So, I have some news. I had a bit of meltdown this am, as having had really bad symptoms daily since 5+4 of nausea and tiredness, I've been feeling pretty good since Sat. This-morning I woke up with zero nausea and my boobs felt okay, and I started thinking the worst and had a panic and after posting on the pregnancy page, I decided to call my GP just for phone advice - when I did the receptionist was really sweet and insisted on booking me an appointment. I felt a bit silly for going, as this-afternoon I ate some cheese and then felt sick, but I went anyway. When I told GP all this, I also mentioned that my last period was lighter than usual, and so maybe my dates are wrong. He felt my tummy and said he could feel my uterus, which he said normally he wouldn't expect to feel until 14 weeks. He then got a sonic aid device and found the baby's heartbeat!! He said he cannot normally find a heartbeat with this device at 9 weeks and felt pretty sure I am more like 14 weeks! Based on my last period before this light one, I'd be 13+5 today, which means tomorrow is the deadline for the nuchal fold scan, and he doesn't think he'll get me in. I may look into a private scan tomorrow if possible. OMG what a shock! I may have an August baby instead now!!

lucidlady · 26/02/2014 18:12

Wow caffeine what a surprise! How are you feeling?

KitKat1985 · 26/02/2014 18:19

Sorry just checking in briefly and catching up. Really pleased all okay with you lucidlady. Am really crossing my fingers broodylicious that all goes well for you tomorrow. Will be thinking of you.

Having an 'odd' week. Thanks to a particular colleague at work on Monday, basically everyone now knows that I'm pregnant, (she guessed I was and then helpfully expressed her realisation that I was to me in front of an entire room of people who were all sat listening). It's not that I mind people knowing per se but I've still got a fortnight until my first scan and have 'the fear' that something is going to be wrong, so would just have rather everyone didn't know for a couple of weeks yet. I'm also now in the situation at work that everyone from the cleaning staff to the managers now know that I'm pregnant, when I've still got friends and family who don't know, and I don't want the situation to arise whereby they find out via someone other than me that I am (like by one of colleagues posting a silly public message on Facebook or similar). So don't know if I should start to tell other people now or just try to keep it as quiet as possible for another couple of weeks? GRRR. Why couldn't she have just told she'd guessed I was pregnant when I was on my own?!? Clearly by virtue of the fact I hadn't said anything publically meant I didn't want everyone knowing yet. Angry

KitKat1985 · 26/02/2014 18:20

Wow. Missingcaffeine what a surprise! x

OneInAMinion · 26/02/2014 18:25

Babies really are tricky, unpredictable things aren't they?! Really sorry to hear that some of you are having such a rough time of it & I hope it all works out okay.??

I finally have my first midwife app tomorrow (at 9+6 despite contacting them at c.6 weeks) so hopefully I'll get a scan date soon.

OneInAMinion · 26/02/2014 18:27

Some people are so insensitive kitkat Hmm As you've not been able to deny it, then I'd tell my close friends & family as I wouldn't want them to hear it from anyone else, but that's just me...and there are links between some of my work colleagues and friends which you might not have.

TheOnlySeven · 26/02/2014 19:08

That's good news isitme.

broody glad you got a little reassurance, plenty of women do just bleed for no reason but have perfectly healthy pregnancies. Try to have a relaxing night if possible.

cookielove · 26/02/2014 19:10

broody fx its all ok!

isitme glad its still looking good for you.

Spoke to the antenatal department today they didn't receive my referral so thats why I haven't had a booking in! Argh!

TheOnlySeven · 26/02/2014 19:26

kitkat how bloody insensitive of her, I'm really angry on your behalf and I'd probably have unleashed my hormonal pregnant lady rage on her :o

caffeine wow what a massive shock for you! Remember that dates are often changed at dating scans so it may not be the end of the world if you can't get in. I have long cycles and mine have always been put back by at least a week.

misog2000 · 26/02/2014 19:55

Got my booking in appt today 13th March, but I can't do that day due to work commitments so will have to call them tomorrow to change, but concerned that I won't get scan date till then and I will be 11+4, will try and ask them on the phone if that's likely to be a problem!

I was referred at 6+4 after an early scan so it's not like I left it late!

Lottiedoubtie · 26/02/2014 20:33

It may not be connected misog I got my scan letter before I had my booking in appointment.

Will be worth ringing to check though.

Twizzletoes · 26/02/2014 20:33

Just checking in, scan all ok just have to wait for the bloods now... Relieved!! DH sat looking at the screen with his mouth hanging open!

topmammy · 26/02/2014 20:44

Wow caffeine what a day you've had! I am 14+1 and I feel almost normal too, so can totally understand why you were worried! My pregnancy book says to enjoy this stage Grin

Well I say I feel normal, but did have a random wave of feeling hot and sick earlier this morn while teaching, so I got another teacher to look after the class while I went to the loo and would you believe it, the bloody fire alarm went off lol! So had to hot foot it out of there, luckily felt ok, I think the shock of the loud sound snapped me out of my icky feeling!

Have we heard from Bex yet about her scan? Glad you had some good news isitme. Keeping everything crossed for you broody.

I got a letter today from the hospital to say baby is not in the increased risk group for Downs so that's a relief :)

broodylicious · 26/02/2014 21:12

Thanks everyone for your kind words and wishes. Sadly the bleeding is continuing and (tmi) I've just passed a blood clot about 4cm in size which, together with a smaller couple from earlier, I'm pretty certain was our baby. Scan will only confirm this tomorrow.
Thanks again for your kindness and all the best for your pregnancies xx
