Hi everyone, I'm slow to the party but due 8th September with my first. First scan fortunately revealed a baby, not a Wotsit. Feeling flutters now after eating. Also grateful that the wobbly belly tyre I was nurturing is starting to take on a bit more of a defined bump shape. Take that, colleagues: I am actually pregnant, not (only) indulging in croissants a little too often.

Hope everyone is doing well and sickness etc passed.

I'm definitely showing too, been in maternity jeans for around 3 weeks.

I agree we should move on, if anyone has any specific concerns they should share them but otherwise I think we ought to leave the mc talk now. There's only 2 pages left on this thread, does anyone think we should start another one now, for a fresh positve start to the second trimester? Also this thread will still be on broodys active threads list so might be better if we stopped posting here.

Ah my gloss paint is high voc so I think I will either get some different stuff or beg somebody else to do it and be out of the room at the time! Thank you for your scientific opinion fairy Grin

I've not been able to fit into normal trousers for a couple of weeks (I'm now 11 weeks) I'm living in mat leggings and jeans with an extender. I have over bump jeans but my bump isn't quite big enough to hold it up so I'm going out this weekend to find some under bump ones. I can fit into normal tops but can't wear them cos they need to be long enough to cover my belt extender thing.
I would paint with caution top. Emulsion should be fine. Low voc gloss should so be fine- when it comes to paint, smell is a good indication of how bad it is for you so if you can't smell it, it won't have much nasties in it. (That's my take on it as a scientist looking at the active ingredients and toxicity rather than as a medical person so feel free to ignore meSmile)

Good to you rockin being still in bed, best to make the most of it as they say! I had an awesome lie in this morn Grin.

Does anyone know if it really is bad to paint while pregnant? I have read that it's probably best to just avoid it but I have such an urge to repaint my skirting boards and also a couple of rooms! I would obviously not do the high bits. Just not sure when it'd get done if I don't do it. Hmm Hmm

Still in bed Grin but said to dh hat I'm wearing maternity pants today. Was very uncomfortable yesterday with the pants closed but with them open using the hair bobble they were just falling down. Very annoying

Kicks I think its important that everyone can share the highs and lows but I agree about challenging what are facts and what is here say.

Dh said I definitely have a bump when im lying down, sadly it gets engulfed in fat when I am upright

I had my 12 week scan too kicks on the 18th Feb (feels like ages ago!).

According to my app 5 apps I am in the second trimester as of today Grin. I don't consider myself a suggestable person but, as promised, I am feeling so much better! I have more enerfy, nausea is limited to maybe a couple of half hour sessions a day and my bladder finally feels comfortable. This may be because my little bump has "popped" and everything is now much higher.

I am going for a walk with my identicle pregnancy friend (virtually same due date) later and have a real urge to have lots of baths and go swimming. Feels like a way of bonding with baby who is having a nice little splash around while she or he but have a feeling about thisstill has room.

Family have started knitting, trousers have stopped fitting, I am the luckiest girl in the World Grin

I agree kickstandgiggles I really appreciated your post the other day.

The differences in notes and systems is really bizarre. I had my booking at 8 weeks and was told I'd get the notes back at my 18 weeks appt.

It was very much, you have this appointment and a scan before 18 weeks, but if you need anything else see your GP, the MW service only really kicks in at 18 weeks.

But then the midwife I saw didnt exactly fill me with confidence that she knew what she was doing... Confused

OneInAMinion · 01/03/2014 09:50

Theonlyseven - I expect they are...mine are pages (A4 booklet) of basic info about me, my medical history, etc. as well as tracking my pregnancy. Apparently I get them back at my scan (as the midwife took them away to put the detail on the system) and them I'm supposed to take them everywhere I go. Massive green notes sticking out of my handbag are a sure fire way for people / work to find out! Grin

No mat clothes here yet, but things definitely feel tighter. It's really weird that I don't weigh anymore than I did before I was pregnant, but my shape is definitely changing.

I see this thread as about sharing information kicksandgiggles...there's nothing wrong with challenging information if it's wrong (in fact that's actually quite helpful for everyone), as long as it's done in a sensitive way (which you did)...because most of us get things wrong due to lack of understanding or repeating what we've heard rather than malice.

I'm also feeling a bit massive too. I can't figure out if my stomach is mostly podge or bump haha. It's definitely getting bigger though!

Bought my first item of maternity clothing yesterday on eBay, a navy blue dress from mothercare £8 that I can hopefully wear for work. Just randomly bidded on it thinking I wouldn't win it but I did hah oops.

I keep looking at my scan trying to decide if I think baby is a girl or boy and I have come to the conclusion that baby is definitely a girl or a boy Grin hehe.

theonlyseven it is odd how ever where is different and its frustrating. My silver lining is that it won't be long between appointment and scan!

Hi all, I wanted to say, I hope I didn't come across as insensitive the other night. My heart obviously goes out to broody and the others who have had miscarriages, but I felt the 40 percent comment could cause a lot of unnecessary upset and worrying. When pregnant with my first DC, I had to leave my antenatal thread for a while during the first trimester as the miscarriage talk was really getting to me - and judging from the slowed conversation the past several days, I think that might be happening to a certain extent here.

I think we need to inject some cheer into the group. Yes, there has been some terrible news, but many people have also had good scan news since then. I'm so pleased for allisgood, Miriama, duzzlightyearsmum, Laura2611, Kt1991, BexBoo12, Missingcaffeine, Fairypants, Waggamama, and BooSurprise! I hope I haven't left anyone out.

Isitme, I know how you feel as I have a DS, and so many people have commented that they hope the twins are girls or that they think I'm having girls. I have no feeling one way or the other, and honestly no preference. This is probably our lot, and while it would be nice to have daughters, I really don't mind if we end up with a house full of boys!

Marie, I am feeling massive, but then it's my second pregnancy and twins! I'm already in maternity leggings, jeans, etc, and am quickly running out of non-maternity tops.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

And I don't have green notes, mine are white ones but I assume they're roughly the same.

Report
TheOnlySeven · 01/03/2014 08:56

Strange how different areas use different systems. It's really simple here, see the GP first then make your own booking in appointment with the MW. MW then makes the referral for the scan. It means that I was able to first see the MW weeks ago.

Been really sick this morning and now my stomach hurts from wretching. Thought this was over as I've been alright for a couple of weeks but apparantly not.
