I've been using waistband extenders for the last couple of weeks missing. Most of my jeans could close if I really tried but they then dig in really badly and are just too uncomfortable.
I've still got 3 weeks before my 12 week scan and finding it a real struggle. I was so tired yesterday eve that I cried when I got home so DH sent me to bed and did dinner. Then I couldn't sleep cos I got hiccupsAngry I felt v sorry for myself.
I do remember it getting easier after 12-14 weeks so there's light at the end of the tunnel.

KatharineClover · 18/02/2014 08:04

caffeine my stomach is huge! I just looked back at my pregnancy diary from no.1 and saw I was writing the same thing at this week back then (although I think my stomach is bigger this time - as it was bigger before I got pregnant!) - not sure how much is baby and how much is food! I was in maternity trousers for my 12 week scan last time: for comfort as trousers that are too tight give me stomach cramps. I'm wearing a lot of leggings and dresses at the mo! fairy I just cried reading an online article about parenting! I remember the exhaustion lifting around 13-14 weeks last time. Taking DS to a play farm today - with copious amounts of snacks for our journey to keep me going!

RhubarbCrumble1 · 18/02/2014 08:05

Well scan was quick & pics clear but we saw the little one wriggling around. By my dates I'm due the 3rd of September by the scan they put me 27th august so I'm in danger of being evicted from this group!
Surreal experience for me as I work as midwife in the unit I'll birth in. Just realised on my due date marks will be my ten years since I qualified....what a cool anniversary gift! X

CumbrianExile · 18/02/2014 08:50

Glad it went well Rhubarb
I don't think you need to leave the group unless you want to though Smile

rockin20s · 18/02/2014 08:57

Rhubarb so glad it went well, dont worry you can stay here with us if you like!

cant believe some of ye are going fro your 12 week scans! AHHH

spoke to DH and we have decided that all going well with the scan we will tell our families that night. they wont be expecting us to call up as i work away mid week. starting to get excited.

missing Thankfully my pants still fit but i just find them tight when im sitting down so use a hair bobble during work as i sit as a desk all day. primark has started doing maternity jeans, i bought a navy and a black pair at the weekend, they seem very comfy but im going to try to hold off wearing them for another few weeks

very annoyed that my urine sample never arrived at the lab as it leaked so had to give another one yesterday. i have just finsihed my week of antibiotics so hopefully the UTI has cleared up and i wont need another antibiotic!!

broodylicious · 18/02/2014 09:26

Fantastic news rhubarb and I concur, stay with us Smile

I've been in maternity jeans for weeks now, just gave in because I was so uncomfortable and I couldn't bear to be at toddler groups in jeans that dug into me - some of them are not the most wonderful experience anyway, without that added discomfort Wink. I remember having bloat last time but not this bad as I was very reticent to buy maternity jeans a few weeks before my scan.

Do all of you second/third time mummies feel bigger this time around? How are your pregnancies compared to your previous? Very different or exactly the same?

Checking in as it's been a while! I'm 11 weeks today, and starting to feel a lot better. I've got a reasonable amount of energy again, can make it through the day without a nap and stay up until a normal time in the evenings, and the nausea is almost gone (I'm just randomly sick every now and again instead of feeling nauseous all day). Not too long to go now until my 12-week scan (on the 26th) and the second trimester! I loved the second trimester when pregnant with DS as you feel more human again and can tell the world you're pregnant.

I really need to move to maternity clothes as I'm getting very uncomfortable and quickly running out of stuff in my normal wardrobe (second baby, plus twins)! I've been wearing maternity leggings, but feel that other maternity clothes would out me, so waiting for the next scan!

Hope everyone is doing well and starting to get past the horrid MS.

Englishgirlinwales22 · 18/02/2014 10:25

Hi
Am I too late to join? Just found out that I am 11+3 with dc 2 and due 5th september. I have only recently stopped breastfeeding dd1 at 14 months and never dreamed that I would be pregnant so quickly- I was looking forward to having my body back for a bit first ha ha!
Saying that though, me and dh are very happy to meet dc2 and cant wait for our lives to get even more crazy!

KitKat1985 · 18/02/2014 11:23

Welcome English girl!

Congrats on your scan Rhubarb Crumble! Definitely think you should stay with us though!

My stomach seemed to bloat up as soon as I became pregnant, so my clothes became uncomfortable very quickly. At about 8 weeks I gave up and bought some maternity trousers / jeans because I physically couldn't do my jeans / trousers up and it was getting ridiculous! Shock I'm still able to wear normal tops though provided they are quite loose-fitting. Will be 10 weeks on Friday. My scan is 13th March so a bit of a wait yet (I did originally have a slightly earlier scan appointment but the hospital changed it).

Overall the nausea is much improved but still getting tired easily. Not helped that I've got a crap cold at the moment and I seem to need to pee at night now at least 2-3 times. Ahh well.

Hope everyone else doing okay. xx

topmammy · 18/02/2014 11:42

Good news about your scan Rubarb! :)

I'm still fitting in my usual clothes but my stomach is looking bigger and a bit wobbly. tbh I think I must have put on more weight than you're supposed to Blush :(

It's my scan tomorrow !! Eeeeeeeekkkk!!!! So excited/nervous.

In other news my nesting instinct was satiated a bit yesterday by getting a new bedroom carpet. Im in cleaning mode now. Totally crazy haha.

broodylicious · 18/02/2014 12:15

topmammy I weighed myself today and I've apparently gained three pounds since seeing the midwife not three weeks ago HmmShock I know some of it is down to crap eating while I was feeling sick but I've done much better in the last week so hoping for nothing more to be added for a bit.

kicks have you weighed in? Are you expecting to gain exactly double that of a singleton baby?

Did you see on ParentDish yesterday about the woman who was expecting triplets..... But on the day, another popped out as well, as a kind of surprise package!! Four babies!! Can you imagine??? Apparently it'd hidden itself throughout all the scans and was a complete surprise to everyone!!!

I've just booked an early scan for reassurance this afternoon. I'm 8 weeks exactly by lmp date. Does anyone know whether it's likely to be ok externally or need to be internal? Just to prepare myself! Can't believe some 12 week scans are approaching very exciting!

rockin20s · 18/02/2014 12:55

i had an external at 7w2d so you should be fine. good luck

kicksandgiggles · 18/02/2014 13:01

I had internal scans at 6+6 and 9+2, and just to warn you, at my 12-week scan with DS, they couldn't see everything they wanted to check externally, so did an internal scan too. But it's really nothing to be worried about, and if you're shy about medical professionals poking around down there, you'd better get used to it! Wink

WishUponAStar88 · 18/02/2014 13:03

Thank you both. I'm really not too bothered if it's internal, just nice to know in advance whether it's likely!

kicksandgiggles · 18/02/2014 13:07

Broody, I haven't checked my weight since the MW weighed me a couple of weeks ago. I am expected to gain more with twins, but not twice as much. I'm trying not to worry about it as the important thing is that the babies are healthy, and the past month I was just focused on finding foods that didn't repulse me! I gained quite a lot when pregnant with DS (four stone) and unfortunately was still nearly two stone over my pre-pregnancy weight when I got pregnant this time. I found it really hard to motivate myself to lose weight knowing I was planning to get pregnant again. Now I'm planning for these to be my last, so will be much more disciplined about weight loss after the birth this time around.

broodylicious · 18/02/2014 13:15

That's exactly my line of thinking, kicks - As long as baby is healthy, I can shift weight afterwards. Pregnancy is not really the time for diets or cutting out food groups as baby needs a good nutritious range. Plenty of time for all that stuff afterwards (I plan on doing the Dukan diet again as it got rid of a lot before my wedding).

yuk, got greedy adn eat too much at lunch time, now i feel sick! Sad

bugoven · 18/02/2014 15:48

Just got back from my 12 week scan. All looking very healthy and baby-like. EDD is now officially 7th September 2014.

I have gained 0.5 kilos since my last MW appointment but lost 7cm. Guess that was a mistake before then. Ha ha.

So happy to see plenty of good news on here and looking forward to seeing more =)

EmilyJane86 · 18/02/2014 16:16

I had an early scan for piece of mind last sat...I'm 8 weeks. Would of preferred an internal as think they're better so early. Had a heart beat so good news but didn't get to hear it or know the heart rate. Just saw a little flicker and the tracing on the screen. Next scan is not till 21st March, I will be 13 weeks and I can't wait. Feel like I've got the flu constantly...had a migraine for days. I feel like I'm gaining weight like crazy even though I feel sick nearly all the time. I reckon I will be whale sized soon. Glad I'm not the only one with waistband issues so early on

topmammy · 18/02/2014 16:28

Don't worry Emilyjane, I too feel like I'm going to be the size of a whale soon! I'm meant to be a bridesmaid in October too....

I keep swopping between feeling really exited about my scan tomorrow to just plain scared. It's doing my nut in now Confused so glad it's at 8.45 am so shouldn't have to wait. Just need to figure out if it is possible to hold onto my FMU so I don't have to guzzle loads of water before I go! Does anyone know approx how long it takes for an empty bladder to get full again?

Kittyrose1 · 18/02/2014 17:08

Hi everyone, glad to see some lovely scan news, topmammy good luck for tomorrow. I think depending on how much you drink will determine how quick it fills up again. How often do you usually need to go for a wee? That'll probably give you a good indication if how long it takes your bladder usually?
I've been feelin much more nauseous of an evening and my energy levels are shocking! Is anyone managing to sustain a level of exercise? I was fairly active prior to falling but I'm feeling so zapped I can't face it. I know exercise is suppose to be good throughout pg though.
I'm sure I've got a tiny little bump but I'm only 9 weeks today by my Lmp, is that possible?

beckworth · 18/02/2014 17:31

Kittyrose I'm also wondering about bump- I am really skinny so definitely noticing a bump (not noticeable to anyone but me mind!). Early on I reckon it was bloat, but not been so bad recently so I don't think it can be now. I am 10+3.

cookielove · 18/02/2014 17:36

Hello all :)

marie1w · 18/02/2014 18:06

Congrats on happy scan news. I have to wait until 1.30pm for mine tomorrow, will be climbing the walls! Found some lovely comfy jeans in New look today and some good fitting bras in mother care. In the sale too so feeling smug.
