Mabel - very pleased to hear you've got some relief for your itching, see, always worth making a fuss! Hopefully you'll have betterr sleep tonight too.

Dunno what's going on with the ztt thing either, I think we're all aware of the situation.

Also - why is it that most of our DH's seem to be getting grumpy over the not drinking thing - it's only for 3/4 weeks out of 40! - we've not been able to drink more than a unit or so for nearly 9 months - and those of you planning on breastfeeding will have to continue not to! honestly, Men!

I got some really sad news yeaterday - my friend who is DS's god mother and was going to look after him when I go in has had a miscarriage at 11 wks. She had another one before that at Christmas. I think what I'm going to do (apart from sending some flowers immediately) is to wait a few days and then ring her to say that I'll understand if she'd rather not take responsibility for DS while we're in. I can't bear the thought of her sat in our home while I'm having a baby and just being reminded of what she's lost - Do you all think that sounds like the right thing to do? - any other suggestions welcome too.

mabel1973 · 10/08/2006 11:52

liquid - that is sad news. I think you have the right idea though. She might still be happy to take your DS to take her mind off thing - I don't know. Just play it by ear and see how she seems.
I have managed to upload a pic of DS on to the Yahoo thing (a technical miracle for me!!) I have never managed to get one uploaded on here for some reason. So feel free to admire my little beach baby (oh we mothers get so proud of our LO's don't we!)

trotskymow · 10/08/2006 13:18

liquid, I agree. Talk to your friend and see how she feels. Such a shame. did I remember you saying that you had a friend who had lost a baby before - it isn't the same person is it?

I've just been on the yahoo site - can't work out how to upload a picture... maybe it's because there is so much security on my computer - it's a work laptop. I will try sending an email with a picture of DS attached to it to the yahoo thing and see if that works...

trotskymow · 10/08/2006 13:22

ok, it didn't work. I am a technophobe. Will see if DH can help later... Otherwise, I may need an instruction manual...!!!

Just been for waxing... had to hold the bump up out of the way!!!

hi Norms, good to hear from you! It sounds like you've got a lot on your plate, but at least you're trying to sort it out in advance. i am in denial about bedtime routines once DS2 is here...

I just got an email from our yahoo thing, and actually my link did work, but I'd still like to know how Marls and Mabel managed to upload pictures onto the website!!! Lovely DS's by the way!

liquidclocks · 10/08/2006 14:26

Claire - you're one brave lady - ouch! And sadly yes, it's the same friend. She's 36 so at higher risk anyway but 2 in a row is unusual and slightly worrying. I really don't know what they'll do now, perhaps they'll try again, hope so but I'm not sure.

Isn't mabel's DS just lovely - those curls, wish my DS's would go like that!

Norms good to hear from you - don't blame you with the mother's help - I was wondering about getting someone for and hour and a half or so once a week - I'm sure there'll be plenty of students around willing to take my money and run - it'll cost nothing compared to what it would cost to have DS in nursery for a morning to give me time to do it!

I've managed to upload some piccies too - I created a new album, hope that was right thing to do.

appyday · 10/08/2006 14:29

Norms, glad to hear from you. It sounds like you are vocalising what most of us are thinking atm.
Found out yesterday that my friend is 7 weeks pg, so told her about MN, just hope its around for her to benefit.
Finally got hospital bag (mostly) packed, with a few tears on the way. Makes the hospital bit seem too real for me,though DD asks every day if I'm going in yet to push the baby out.
Oh well time for work again, stay well ladies.

pol26 · 10/08/2006 14:30

I am happy I weighed myself this morning and have put on exactly 1 stone!!! Yeah!!! Although I was 'big-boned' (fat bloater) before... I am feeling chuffed .

Been trying to get things done this morning but you know when you try but never actually achieve anything?! Still had a free lunch, as MIL called and said for us to go round there and eat so had a beef roast dinner- yummy!!! Then cherry pie and ice cream- double yummy!

Have hospital bag packed and all things ready to go but just am waiting now... and getting fed up of waiting too... Since mw said yesterday and last week I was measuring big I am eager to 'pop' early although posted a thread in pregnancy about this and general consensus is that you don't come any earlier anyhow. DP is desperate for us to make it until September, as the start of the school year and will be one of the eldest in their class however not too sure that for my sanity how long I can hold on without loosing it.

Visiting my sisters tomorrow with her chidren's birthday presents as a two and a bit hour drive away and their birthdays on the 4th and 19th, as DD's birthday is the 18th and i'm due then too i'm thinking it might be too much to go up then if baby is just born or i'm big and ready to pop!

Marls- your lil'boy is gorgeous!!!

mandaz · 10/08/2006 15:21

After the worst night I've had so far this pg (couldn't get to sleep for hours then had bad dreams all night and kept waking up in a panic), a friend of the family came round this morning and said to me 'gosh, haven't you put on a lot of weight since last week' !!!! I mean I know LO is growing and I have had a particularly sweet tooth over the last couple of weeks but honestly, can't I just stay in denial for a bit longer? I wouldn't mind but I seem to be carrying more round the back/sides then out front like some of the women at my classes so the added weight looks just like added weight as opposed to baby!

Pol - I'm glad you had a better response from your mw. I think you totally did the right thing in being upfront with her. Hopefully she'll be nice as pie to you from now on.

Mabel - I was told by my GP that excema and asthma in pregnancy are really common although nobody knows why. There is a product called Oilatum which you can buy from chemists and supermarkets (not sure if you can get it on prescription but might be worth asking). They do bath oils and shower gels which are soap free and are really soothing for itchy excema.

Marls - I totally agree in regards the house prices. Basically, round here it's almost impossible to get onto the housing ladder. Even couples struggle to get mortgages on properties in this area. The council reckon they are building more affordable housing but the problem is it's very slow coming and there are a lot of people waiting for it. Hopefully the situation will improve soon as I'd really love to own my own place one day.

Bella23 · 10/08/2006 15:36

Mandaz - can't believe your friend!!
Who needs comments like that ?!!

theUrbanDryad · 10/08/2006 15:43

just a quick butt-in (i'm not due till january but like to look at the other threads anyway!) you can get oilatum on prescription cause i used to have it when i was a kid. mind you, that was about 20 years ago! ask your pharmacist....ok, i'll bog off back to my own thread now....byeee! xxx

Woodelf · 10/08/2006 16:07

Hi, have joined the Yahoo group I hope successfully pending approval from Marls! Hope i've done it right as its a bit confusing.

Treated myself to 2 V pillows as they are in argos at 5.99 each with cotton covers - been a godsend at night for support and hopefully will make a good feeding pillow when lo appears. Find myself sleeping at night nested and wedged so I can get comfy but there is a bit of an art to it!

Carpenter finally left house so I'm feeling like I've got my territory back again and much more relaxed. Time to prepare the bags for hospital I guess. LO is moving around like an alien at a disco and sure has sharp elbows/knees which scoot across my abdomen then followed by seismic shaking too - very amusing to watch but a bit uncomfy.

Hugs to all and glad it's not so hot these days...

Ooh by the way, the new mothercare catalogue dropped thru my letterbox and they seem to be selling tots bots bamboozles first size packs for a v good price of £129 - no evidence of these in store yet or on the website but cheaper than I've seen anywhere else as I was toying with the idea of using them....

Marls001 · 10/08/2006 17:31

zzt ... very strange.

Mabel, my DS has excema! No one quite sure what caused it, as DH & I don't have it. I keep having to tell everyone no, it's not poison ivy; it's not contageous ... doesn't seem to bother DS though. Hope you get some relief.
Your little beach baby is so, so cute!!!

Woodelf - you're all set ... LOL at "alien at a disco!"

Liquid - Love your pics and being able to see your cute DS & to put a name with a face!!
DH & I have been having a glass of wine every other night these days ... ... guess I'm lucky the closest thing to pub here is "Buffalo Wild Wings" - food is terrible & he'd only be with work folks, so not too tempting

Calire/Trotsky - Can't see photo But it's just me - Some glitch with my settings or computer where I can't see attachmentson yahoo; have been trying to figure it out!! So frustrating; happens to me on my Moms Club site too. (Liquid, do you know what this might be?)

Mandaz, ! at comment by friend! "haven't you gained weight" is on List of "top things to never, ever say" - has she been under a rock?
If you'd like any tips/tricks for later, have some that are mostly painless; I'm no dieter. Have gained nearly 40 pounds, so will be putting whatever I can into play in the year after DS's birth.
Prices sound like California's - I do hope you'll be able to get a place when they do build them.

Just found about about terrorism from MIL on phone ; wasn't in morning papers yet.

Thanks Pol - he wasn't smiling b/c that was the day we were leaving Disneyland! Need to put some more with him smiling!
Speaking of which, Puppy - what a cutie!!
It's so neat to see everyone's photos after talking to y'all for so long.

intergalacticwalrus · 10/08/2006 17:54

Hi everyone,

Have been lax at checking in here as usual! Just wondered how you are all getting on. I can't believe I only have 5 weeks to go!!!!! I get an appointment for my CS next week, so I will know when baby walrus will be making an appearance!!!

Have been struggling the past few weeks with the old SPD, and trying to run after a toddler. It's a nightmare! I am royally fed up with being pg, and can't wait until my CS. A friend of mine gave birth a few days ago, and I am so bloody jealous!

Hope evryone has had a vaguely stress free pg so far, and I am looking forward to reading a few birth stories in the next few weeks!!!!!!

IGWxxxxxx

liquidclocks · 10/08/2006 19:06

Hi Marls - sorry but no luck seeing Clairemow's attachment at my end either - unless it might work on the 'daily digest' email - I'll give it a go. At the moment when I go into the message it says 'attachment(not stored)' ??

Have just checked my weight gain, I am 10st 6lbs now and was 9st 3lbs before I got pg - I think that's 17lbs but not sure as I'm too young to understand imperial! (14lbs in a stone?)Don't know if that's good or not - have tried not to go bonkers with the chocolate but have been craving peppermint softmints recently

LO keeps getting the hiccups at the moment - feels very strange!

Coriander73 · 10/08/2006 19:19

Good news Mabel..

I think I'm being a bit thick re Yahoo..I can see I'm there but am unsure at moment of how to put photos up etc so will engage DH later! By the way, not that it's clear either but I'm Minkymooski on it...it should have been my real name but I sort of f*cked it up last minute & it came out with DD's nickname instead of mine...tut tut...I've really lost the plot lately....I must get to grips with it all

trotskymow · 10/08/2006 19:20

Think my computer skills leave a lot to be desired... I could only see it on the email that came through. About to go out (parents here sitting!) so will try again tomorrow, and have a look at all your lovely DS/DDs and YOU!!

mabel1973 · 10/08/2006 19:20

claire can't see your pics either.

There are some real cuties on there now though!

mabel1973 · 10/08/2006 19:35

found this thread - thought it quite relevant to us considering recent conversations (sorry crap at links) so have just cut and paste it:

Mumsnet Discussions: Childbirth : Embarrassing: What is ettiquette re grooming of lady garden

liquidclocks · 10/08/2006 20:46

Yep - I posted on it but no-one's answered my question yet

pol26 · 10/08/2006 21:34

Hey all!!!

Yeah our weather is very cooler now, we have even shut the windows! And the weather man has said it will be like this for a while!!! Yeah!!! Hopefully until I pop.

All those cutie children are coming in thick and fast now, they are all gorgeous and going to try and get my little/ or not so little DD on now! Will try tomorrow night.

pol26 · 10/08/2006 21:37

I have been laughing about that thread re: grooming your lady garden... Very appropriate seen as we are getting close. It did make me laugh

puppy · 11/08/2006 08:25

Morning all,

Looked at your piccies on yahoo and they are all soooo adorable,

Thanks Marls he is not always such a cutie lol, he is really missing school at the moment and asks me everyday if he is going to big boys school, bless him. We bought his school uniform the other day when I tried it on him I had to hold back the tears he looked all grown up. He is really looking forward to it.

Good to hear from you norms, sorry your having a bad time of it.

Intergalactic I have every bit of sympathy with you regarding SPD, mine is so bad at times that I have to use crutches but saying that its alot easier since I went on mat leave. Hope its not too bad for you.

Liquid when I was pregnant with DS he had the hiccups often, the midwife said to me its sign of a very healthy baby , this one has been having hiccups on and off for the last few days too.

DS is getting excited , he asks me quite often when I am going to pop lol, we have made a paperchain, one link resembles one week and he gets to tear one off each one.

oh so you know I am samjandwich on yahoo

Bella23 · 11/08/2006 08:31

Mabel - just chceked out the lady garden thread and am laughing out loud at "I suggest minor trim of length to prevent yeti look but no edge-neatening"

How are we all today? Its my last day today, yippee!! Can't wait for free time next week...bliss
