I can't keep up with you guys!
Every time I come back to the site there has been so many messages it tales me the best part of an hour to catch up!

Congrats to all those who have their babies now, I am sooo jealous!
I really like the name Matilda too and Tilly is so sweet.
You are so right, it is really hard to come up with boys names!
We have been able to come up with two that we like, but mainly just the one. So, if it is a boy, we know his name but if it is a girl, we still have a choice of three!!
I can't beleive that someone would register a name without getting your agree-ance Normsnockers!
I would worry that my DH would leak out the wrong name in his texts to everyone, but it would only be in his excitment and I could probably forgive him for it, but to REGISTER the name!! Unforgivable!

I am 38 weeks, should my babies head be engaged by now. My MW says not to worry as some don't engage until first contractions but I just feel that I have less than two weeks to go now and there have been no obvious changes at all yet?? Baby is in the perfect position, head down and on the left, so I am really pleased about that, but should I be feeling different or discomfort, or Something!!?

petrified · 05/09/2006 21:12

1B1B- yes it does really make me jump!!!

appyday · 05/09/2006 21:43

Congratulations to Claire, MIAQ and Marls. Wow,its all happening now. I have been so busy with DH trying to do 100 last minute things before tomorrow that I haven't switched the computer on for days. I am so scared about CS, that I am still half in denial, only good thing is this time tomorrow it will all be over and we shall have our LO and all be ok. Time for shower, pre-op tablets and bed. Take care of the bumps,I'll be back with news soon.

Hey it's all happening here, not that I expect any of you to be awake- apart from the odd loo break. I just can't sleep any longer and so have come down stairs and am sat on two towels on the sofa (leather so ok...) and on the lap top while DP gets some rest...

All night having pains and oddly this afternoon decided to blitz the downstairs loo and go on a mad cleaning frenzy... Any how... at tea time DP fetches take away- the chicken shop, just what I wanted. And I am having pains and laugh this could be it again- for the millionth time in three weeks... But pains go on and on but nothing bad that i'm not managing to eat a huge bar of galaxy to.

At 11:30pm we go up to bed and I hear DP start to snore and I have a pain and then think ooooh quick go sleep and they'll go off before the next one starts. Then feeling a 'popping' sensation and water everywhere. First I think i've wet the bed- which I have but not in the weeing sense... So I jump up and tell DP to get out before he is soaked! Snatch a towel and try and catch all I can to make sure they are clear and keep it off our cream carpet! Sorry if TMI!

Get up call labour ward- who say come in. DP fetches his mum and dad, neither drive and we get in at 1am ish. MW examines me and can't make her mind up if my waters have broken or not, she does an internal and pokes me about, says I have protein in my wee too. Then says that i'll have a scan tomorrow because it may just be my hind waters or not at all. I know I bloomin' wee and my waters!!! So we come home and DP's parents go home too. I think MIL wanted to stay which would've been ok by me as i'm having no sleep anyhow but if she has DD tomorrow- which she will she'll need that energy

So now i'm home and in pain- which is labour of some sort and my waters def have gone, been through three pairs of trousers and god knows how many pads, now have taken to sitting on two towels with two pads, knickers and pj bottoms on and still not leak free... Roll on his majesty making an appearance! Except really begining to remember the pain thing and def WANT an epidural!

Worrying about DD as she has had a hard day today- had six weeks of DP being off, as school hols and she was really asking for him today and has a cold and cough- just what she'll want is a little brother to steal her lime light! I do hope that she will be ok with it all.

Going to start timing contractions as getting alittle arggg-ey...

puppy · 06/09/2006 07:25

oh pol26 how exciting, hope your in the hospital having your LO now

Good luck today intergalactic and appyday on your cs's

1Baby1Bump · 06/09/2006 07:41

so excited for pol! liquid- can you go for a waterbirth? the freedom of movement is amazing and you wont have to put any pressure on your bum/back at all.

1Baby1Bump · 06/09/2006 07:45

I AM DUE TODAY!
Will post as soon as he arrives!!
Positive Mental Attitude!!!!

I had the pains all last evening and in the night again, just enough to keep me awake but nothing.
Think I will accept the mw's sweep offer on Friday if he is not here by then, which I know he wont be!

Dh had given me a list of errends to do today! - How rude! I have to go to docs to sort out his repeat for his insulin, wash all his jeans and get them dried, go to the post office and me and ds are going to the library for a read so I'm going to be busy today. Hopefully enough to bring me on.
But I also have strong urges to clean bathroom....
not had this before...

compo · 06/09/2006 08:51

Ooh all the best for the c-sections appyday and intergalactus
Pol - how exciting. Good luck with scan today. Can't beleive the m/wife said your waters might not have broken though !!
1B1B - fingers crossed things get moving for you today.

liquidclocks · 06/09/2006 09:03

1b1b - I'm thinking very positively for you! 'bout time you had it!

Pol- hope you're not reading this as you sshould be in the delivery suite by now but if you are- could skirts be a way forward? - seriously, hope all goes well today and that LO arrives safe and sound.

With regards to my other thread, thinking now about just saying s*d it and having an epidural - though I get the waterbirth idea - I'll have to get out to be monitored and have my drip and can't decide whether I like the thought ofit enough to put up with standing there like a wet cold puppy for half and hour every few hours. I woke up last night with really intense lower back pain and thought off we go! 2 contractions later it all stopped and I realised I'd been lying funny on my hip! please please please baby either come,or don't - just stop dithering!!!!

Good luck to all those having sections today - I'll try not to be too jealous

micromum · 06/09/2006 09:04

Good morning everyone,

Awoke this morning at 5am with contractions every 10 min, they have started to subside a bit in the last 30 min. I'm due to have another sweep this morning at 11.30 which i think i will still go to and get this really started, so please god this time tommorow i will have a baby, say a prayer for me.

Pol good luck

clairemow · 06/09/2006 09:45

Congratulations marls!! Fantastic birth story, lol at the hippies!! To reassure everyone again, I didn't poo or vomit either! Result!!

good luck intergalactic and Appyday - thinking of you today... Maybe they are already here...?

Pol, it sounds like it's finally happening for you.. Hope it all goes well and you soon have beautiful LO on your tummy.

Fraser is doing really well. I feel human today, as he only woke up twice last night at 1 and 4 for feeds. Hurrah!! My milk is well and truly in (poor thing, I had to express some off before he could get anywhere near!!), so I think that's made the difference - and he's a greedy little thing. The midwife is coming later to weigh him, so I'm excited to see if he's put on any weight. I'm a bit paranoid after DS lost so much that I've been virtually force-feeding him!!! He's asleep at the moment, looking like a little angel .

DS1 has been surprisingly good - we have taken the approach of including him as much as possible, so we let him "hold" his brother i.e. make him sit, and we hold Fraser on his lap. He likes to "help" with the nappies as well (although this may be more to do with a fascination with poo rather than love for little bro!!) - he puts the cotton wool in the bowl, squeezes it out and hands it over for wiping. Long may it last. I am trying really hard to spend time with DS1 on his own as well when I can, as I really don't want him to feel abandoned.

I will try and remember to post some pics on yahoo later. Now off to shower and then take a small outing with the new buggy!

clairemow · 06/09/2006 09:45

sorry micromum, I meant to say good luck to you too - it's impossible remembering everything on this thread!!

tassis · 06/09/2006 10:09

OOOH, sounds like it's the big day for appyday, IGW and pol too... Micromum, keep us posted - sounds exciting.

Will keep checking back.

Puppy your pics are lovely, I must try to get a few up too.

Cori - hope you're feeling better today.

1B1B - hope all your errands bring on labour!

LC - a good friend damaged her coccyx badly recently when she was about 38 weeks preg. She was in a lot of pain with it but still managed to give birth successfully and with only G&A (baby almost born at home in fact!). Hope that's some encouragement. Water sounds like a good plan too...

Claire, lovely to hear from you. Enjoy your outing with your 2 wee ones. Good to hear your ds1 is coping so well.

Having a very lazy day here. Ds been playing beautifully with his train set and duplo (current loves!) and now watching cbeebies. I've still not got dressed - bliss! Makes a change from the usual rush to get to toddlers, gym class, swimming lesson...

mabel1973 · 06/09/2006 11:16

Good luck to everyone today!
It is my due date tommmrow - but still no signs - I think I'll get myself a pineapple today see if that works.
DS is in a bad way today - think it's his teeth, but he is not a happy chap. Thank god for Calpol....!

1Baby1Bump · 06/09/2006 12:41

ive had two pineapples so far this week as i dont like hot curry.
Ive got another 'xtra large golden pineapple' for later!!
i will go clean the bathroom like a mad thing in a bit.

tassis · 06/09/2006 12:47

Mabel and pol, hope your little ones are feeling a bit better today.

no word from pol, so I reckon she must be faving baby...how exciting.

hope there's still people to talk to if I'm still here in 3 weeks time!

1Baby1Bump · 06/09/2006 12:58

pol is deffo having/had her baby!

puppy · 06/09/2006 12:59

Thanks tassis, think I will be here in a few weeks too lol.
Keep having backache and period like pains but nothing regular like contractions. Although I have just had horrendous stitch like pain on both sides of my bump I couldn't get up!

Hope your DS is better soon mabel.

I agree I bet pol26 is in hospital , fingers crossed.

TopBanana · 06/09/2006 13:02

Castor oil is meant to do the trick if you're desperate
Don't think I could stomach it myself but would love to know if it works!!

Myrtle1 · 06/09/2006 13:47

Tassis, I'm sure I'll still be here waiting in 3 weeks time. I'm not due til 26.9 and its my first so it might even be longer than that. I've had no pains or inklings that LO is coming whatsoever so v. of everyone on here at the moment

Marls001 · 06/09/2006 14:53

Puppy, Tassis ? Thanks! He was pretty alert; 9.9 of 10 on APGAR!
Liquid ? I wouldn?t have minded the same name at all! But Plan A is just as well! Hope it happens for you soon!!
Puppy ? Love the new pics!!

Cori ? Glad you?re alright after the low bp incident. It?s been so nice to be off the high bp ?diet? & able to drink milk again. I hope you don?t have another time like that.

LOL on your continuing habit ? I think it did help to prepare me though, so it?s not good for nothing! As far as the New Yorker, I?m sure you?re made of tougher mettle! ?True Stories of the ER? on yesterday & no desire to watch it! The cure for such symptoms must be delivery. (Still can?t get over the EMPTY ER in this town!)

Imogen is gorgeous, and Jack is solid too; can?t lose.

Petrified ? love those too. So fun to hear the names.

Mimpim ? I didn?t feel anything different at 38 weeks ?

Wow, Pol ? that is so different ? US hospital would?ve kept you for sure (even if you?d wanted to go home). Good luck Pol & Appyday!!

Claire ? So glad to hear all?s well with y?all, milk, big brother, etc.!!

For getting labor started, I?m a convert to the power of herbs ? the day before my water broke, had much larger amounts of chamomile & raspberry leaf teas than I?d had!

Flumpybumpy · 06/09/2006 15:00

Had consultant appointment on Monday and after an internal scan he has confirmed that my internal CS scar has healed very well so all set for VBAC!! However, if I haven't had baby naturally by next Friday 15.9 I will be having an c/s the following week.

Will keep you all posted.

Pls send all your positive VBAC thoughts my way I SO do not want another c/s!!

mandaz · 06/09/2006 16:45

Hello all. Have had a rotten few days so haven't been online. I've just been catching up with all the posts...

Liquid - Yes, it was the Ikea at Leeds I went to. I think the last time I went was over a year ago and it's changed a lot since then. I can't say it's my favourite shop in the world but tbh, I just enjoyed going out! Oh, and congrats on passing your course.

Clairemow, Marls and MIAQ- congratulations to you all. I hope you are all recovering well and enjoying your LO's

I love all the names that have been posted. Norms, I think that James is a lovely name. I would have thought that William would be much more likely to be shortened than James. I have opted for Thomas Jack for a boy (after my great Grandfather) and Georgia Rose for a girl.

Well, like I said, the last few days have been pretty horrid. I've been feeling really under the weather and have had back pain for several days. Last night I had a small amount of bleeding which I mentioned when I went for my 39 week check today. The GP decided that as there was no other discharge I should go get checked out on Labour Ward. So, I got monitored again and they decided that it was a show and that there was really no need for me to be there. I was told that the babys heartbeat is fine but my bp is up again. The mw there told me to go home and rest and wait for things to start. She said there was no way of knowing how far off we are but then in the next breath said, 'see you next week - if not before'. I get the feeling that LO's arrival is imminent. I have a lot of pressure on my back and pelvic area which she said is just going to get worse until my waters break. So, still waiting but hopefully not for much longer. I still can't quite believe that we're in September and that within the next week I'll be a Mummy! It's all very surreal.

appyday · 06/09/2006 17:25

(whisper) hello all, um, no baby yet. Got to hospital, unpacked in room, into sexy backless robe and down to delivery. Midwife had a feel and initially said LO was breach, then decided the head was well down, so I had a scan and the head is deeply engaged. She did an internal and my cervix is closed but they gave us the option of going home to see if anything happens in the next week. So here I am at home,no CS , and 1 week's grace. If we've had no action by Wednesday they will break my waters and try and gently induce me before resorting to CS. Still in shock that they didn't want me to stay in and have CS as I was due in theatre in 5 mins!
So good luck to the others who have almost popped and keep your fingers crossed for me.
