Hi Guys,

Congratulations Angeliz

I've had a show this morning with all blood and stuff (sorry if tmi) and now I'm feeling really scared!
Was hoping baby would stay put till at least her due date cos I'm quite scared of giving birth again. I'm just really freaked out now and don't know what to do with myself!

Oh yeah and I passed my driving test

Thanks for the messages, I went to anti-natal today and my bp is still pretty high but everything else has come back clear. They said that they will monitor the bp - community mw coming to my home on Monday and then I have to go back to anti-natal on Thursday, and as long as there's no change in any of the other tests (bloods/urine) then they'll just keep an eye on things. Apparantly, they won't induce on high bp alone, which is a relief. They did say that my white blood cells are raised so it looks like I've had some sort of a bug/infection which may account for the swellings etc. So, at least I don't have to stay in hospital over the weekend. My parents have decided not to go away anyway, partly in case I'm still unwell but partly due to other stuff.

So, I'm off to go and lie on the sofa and watch daytime tv. I could get used to this!

1Baby1Bump · 25/08/2006 12:07

just got back from consultant. she didnt know why i was there!- got an ace midwife, me!!
it was because im in so much pain and packed solid.
basically i felt like a complete idiot and was told you are always more sensitive the second time to pain and discomfort.
first preg i had to wear belly support belt but not this time so dont really understand.
anyhoo...
if anyone remembers my popping sound, it is my pelvis creaking about. it happened again last night, it went twice and i thought i was going to collapse, it felt as if it was disintigrating from below me!
asked also about the blood smell i ahve and that some others have and she didnt seem too bothered about that either, unless something appears. i thought it was more strange to smell of blood but for there to be none there iyswim?

1Baby1Bump · 25/08/2006 12:13

thanks puppy. that's the only good thing, that it doesnt hurt at all. just very scary!

liquidclocks · 25/08/2006 13:04

Had such a lovely morning with 2 friends and their DS's - they've been running riot (kids, not mums) but so happy it was great. And one friend brought chocolate cake.... mmmmm!

Topbanana - ashow is great news, things are moving - but don't worry too much, nothing migh happen for a few weeks yet.

Mandaz - glad your appt went well and you're home. Try and avoid induction if at all possible - it's much more painful than normal labour. If you do have one it might be worth having a planned epidural as likelihood of interventions are increased as is pain so along with not suffering so much you're more prepared for if they did need forceps/ventouse/emergency section etc. Sorry, don't want to make you anxious, quite the opposite, but make them justify an induction if they do want to.

Hi! Another newbie!

Am due 5th Sept, already have a 3 yr old son (is that a ds? Sorry - not good on abbreviations!).
i'm really worried - I have really bad SPD - although my first 'urgent' physio app't is next Thu! Good old NHS! I actually cannot walk more than a few steps - how the hell am I going to keep active in a - probably - long labour (if the last was anything to go by)? Didn't have this spd last time. Anyone else been in a similar situation?

Hello to you all and more NEWBIES- yeah!!!

Feeling teary today as finally plucked up the courage to cal mw and she was in a delivery so felt v.bad but told me that she wasn't my mw anymore and she wasn't working from the surgery I go to anymore and just the hospital!!! Nice to have been told. So she then said to call the mw centre which I did and is only open Tues morning or Thurs!!! And no one checks messages between- call your mw! GRRR
So I call the gp surgery who didn't even know Judy wasn't working for them anymore either. Gave me a random mw number who I left a ,essage on her mobile but as yet no call back and I did it at 9:45am...
So feeling teary that I can't just have some reassurance or anything about my measurements. i know some ppl say its ok and not to worry but he's my baby and I do! Two weeks for a consultant app when the mw was 'concerned' seems a little too long.

Also brought a birthing ball but not sure what to do with it, except let DD bounce around on it! Any ideas?

liquidclocks · 25/08/2006 14:35

First baby, slightly terrified.. Hope your all doing well. x

compo · 25/08/2006 14:47

Hi everyone and welcome to the new people. Did Bella23 have her lo already? I couldn't remember when starting the list

TopBanana · 25/08/2006 15:14

Hi, I've calmed down a bit now. I know a show doesn't mean labour is imminent it just scared me a bit!!
Pol, I've been sat bouncing on my ball for the last 2 nights because the midwife said it was a good way to get the head engaged. I'm guessing it has now hence the show!! It helps my backache too. Dd keeps kicking me off though so might have to get her a space hopper or something tomorrow.
Angeliz, Elliot is gorgeous, I want one!!
1baby1bump, sounds like you're having a real time of it at the mo, roll on September!

I have actually been pro active now and finished packing my hospital bag. And I've packed a little bag for dd in case she has to stay over night somewhere!
Just need to buy a cheap nightie now to give birth in just in case I don't get to use the pool!

Marls001 · 25/08/2006 17:54

Hi all ...

Manda, really glad everything's okay. Your situation with bp was 'close to home' for me.

When had migraine yesterday, found very informative article on bp & pg here . DH read it too. It's scary stuff. (Don't think DH would allow me to get pg again even if I wanted to.) Numbers still high, but not in the red. Just one more week ... then Mom will be here ... DH & I had a wakeup call yesterday on just how much more time we have (or don't have) before LO arrives.

Thanks, Liquid - Did get through day yesterday. Should be all downhill from here I hope. at ranting. Was worried about high bp and migraine was horrible ... worried about possible immediate induction. DS just watched a lot of TV ... ... Migraine gone by afternoon.

Last pg when my bp was high, roomful of Dr.s at St. Luke's in Houston sat around a table discussing my case and arguing with my Dr. that she should induce me. Dr. & I had become close; otherwise wouldn't have known about that little meeting. Having become more cautious since then, I understand what a risk she was taking for my sake - hoping I wouldn't have a seizure before baby's arrival & respecting my wishes to have as natural a birth as possible.

But this time around I might be more open to induction if bp numbers were to get as high as before.

Have added my info!
