Just nipping on...

Appyday, I hope you don't have to go in - thinking of you.

Pol, surely someone can see you in the hospital for a scan between now and 2 weeks' time?!

Angeliz - wow!! Have you decided on a name for LO? Sounds like it all went well for you - fantastic!

Saw my midwife too today. Baby now 3/5 engaged. I said, "eh, he was 4/5 last time" - I had it all wrong, apparently it's 4/5 palpable, i.e. they can feel 4/5 of the baby as it's only 1/5 dropped into the pelvis. So now it's 2/5 dropped in. Could have told them it was lower...!! Also had sugar in my urine, but she said that could just be the chips I ate for lunch !!

liquidclocks · 23/08/2006 19:19

compo - I didn't have to go see my GP to get iron tablets, he just got my test results and posted me the prescription, could you ring your doctors to ask if they can do that for you. Failing that iron tablets are really cheapso you could just buy some

Clairemow - hope the sugar doesn't mean anything, it'sashame you're not as 'ready to go' as you thought, how frustrating!

Well DS is teething again and has been very grumpy today - I love calpol! But I seriously hope he gets over it before LO arrives. Got the drawers cleared out today for LO and the nappies. Nearly ready....

pol26 · 23/08/2006 19:38

We have had a grumpy DD today too, it's been raining too so she had to make do with just a trip to tesco's, mind you she loves entertaining the old ladies. She too has her back teeth coming through and has been waking up early as well. She has been joyous, lol...

Not sure even if i'm having a scan on the 4th! In fact it all has been a little vague and was stunned that I had grown 7weeks worth in two weeks...!!! So maybe i'm going to call my mw tomorrow and see what she says. Feel scared tho because my usual one is a bit of a dragon.

Hope everyone is ok, appyday good luck and hope you're ok. Hope you ladies with babies are all ok too!

tassis · 23/08/2006 19:54

appyday - so sorry to hear your news about baby's position and really hope you don't have to go in for 2 weeks. Keep us posted if you can.

Woodelf - I've had a stinky cold too...much sympathy. hope you get your waterbirth.

compo - how frustrating re your appt today

pol and LC - hope your wee ones are on better form tomorrow.

(TMI warning) I'm horribly constipated. I've been on iron tablets for weeks and no side effects, but have come off now (taking Spatone instead - thanks whoever it was who suggested that!) but I'm still really bunged up and it's beginning to do my head in... Any suggestions? Even prune juice isn't helping!

Bought a birthing ball the other day. Ds ADORES it! Great play value!

liquidclocks · 23/08/2006 19:57

Pol- that's an awfully long time to wait to get checked out imo. Perhaps it is worth ringing the dragon lady tomorrow - is it possible that they made a mistake measuring you? If they didn't then surely you should be checked out sooner. If you are worried then I would just ring your delivery suite and tell them you were told this news today, you've gone home and had time to digest it and now you feel concerned and can they give you a bit more info - things happpen more quickly in my area if you go through them. hth.

Marls001 · 23/08/2006 19:59

Yuk Compo - Hate that hassle; especially for just iron pills!! You're not able to just pick some up at the pharmacy's vitamins section?

Donuts were great! But made DS & I both feel ill as we usually don't eat that way ; guess that's the "why not" ...

Claire - Wow; wishing I knew more of that kind of detail! LOL re sugar; surprised they haven't found it in mine.

Kind of unmotivated as brain saying "you've done everything you need to & it's still a week ... so now what?"

Went to health food store & stocked up on frozen meals; went to bookstore & stocked up on inane magazines to read during 3 am feedings if I'm bored ... accepted another art commission (I know; I'm nuts) ... currently feeling this is a very strange "waiting" time.

And yes, Homemama, keep forgetting - mine's smelly too. I'm just basically the opposite of glamourous, in so many fun and interesting ways.

appyday · 23/08/2006 20:32

hi all, am now in hosital,DH and DD gone home so fed up. Thanks for all your good wishes, will keep you posted, though not going to be on here much as connection is slow and keypad overused.

Marls001 · 23/08/2006 20:57

Appyday - So sorry missed your earlier post; thinking of you & hoping for best.

tassis · 23/08/2006 21:29

woohoo, finally got myself onto the yahoo group thing.

you're all so gorgeous! such cute wee ones too.

thanks for the files marls, makes interesting reading. i have friends who follow babywise and i've meant to investigate it beofre now.

pol26 · 23/08/2006 22:13

Appyday- I hope you're ok. I know how boring hospitals can be and hoping you're keeping your spirits up as much as you can. I know we're all thinking of you.

Marls001 · 24/08/2006 01:22

Tassis - Had what you're describing pretty badly early on; it was my worst problem in 2nd trimester. So, per day, ever since: Taking one Colace (docusate sodium, a stool softener, safe for pg), plus 4(!) Benefiber orange-flavored tablets per day (that's 4 g fiber, 16% daily recommended fiber right there) - they're not bad; in fact, have to dissuade DS (when he sees me take them) from having one too ... we call them the "pooping pill" and they work for him only too well! And taking the above have solved that problem entirely for me.
It's pretty serious, I imagine, if even prunes aren't helping. Perhaps keep taking the prunes and try adding the above. Dr. was the one who suggested I buy Colace & who said it'd be perfectly safe to take one/day.

Marls001 · 24/08/2006 01:23

Oh - and glad you're enjoying the articles!

compo · 24/08/2006 08:56

Mornign everyone. Yes, I would quite happily go and buy the iron tablets but my gp keeps nagging at me to go and see him so I'm going to go just to stop the phone calls!!
Can I just ask all those on iron tablets what your haemoglobin level is? Mine is 10.6 which I don't think is really that bad so not sure why all the fuss!!!

1Baby1Bump · 24/08/2006 09:01

can any of u guys help on my noise thread?
i had a clunk this morning and i want to know what it was!
x

puppy · 24/08/2006 09:20

Congratulations Angeliz

Well I don't know what on earth my midwife was on about as I thought they came with pain too [scratching head emoticon] . She wouldn't go through my birthplan either as she says they are giving priority to first time mums, so I will have to sit down and write my own using the net to remind me what vit k injections etc are for again , its been nearly 5 years since my last pregnancy and I have forgot most of it.

Oh Appyday I hope things go well for you and your lo turns.

liquidclocks · 24/08/2006 09:43

Compo, that's about the same iron level as me and I got prescribed tablets too. Have to sya I was having symptoms of anaemia though so it's bee worth taking them for me. I suppoese youjust want to get your iron count up asap as it's likely you'll lose blood giving birth and thereofre it will minimise the impactof on you and redcue likelihood of need for a transfusion or anything drastic.

Tassis, my pharmacist said that you can take lactulose in pg, worth trying?

Fed up already today - get this baby out! Can't believe some of you only have a week to go till due dates!

compo · 24/08/2006 10:46

Thanks LC - I had anaemia after ds because of all the blood I lost and they took ages to work out that's why I was feeling so down. I definitely don't want that to happen again as for a while they thought I had PND At least this time I'll recognise the feelings straight away!!
I'm with you on being ious of the early babies and those nearing due dates. I really wat to meet my baby now!! I'm so fed up of being massive and feel a bit freakish when I go out now (as if people are staring at me). I know it's silly but I can't help it!!

1Baby1Bump · 24/08/2006 10:49

i give up on here now.

liquidclocks · 24/08/2006 10:55

Nobody know the answer to your clunk then? It is rather strange. Did you call your delivery suite or are you not that concerned?

1Baby1Bump · 24/08/2006 10:57

thanks for your reply. x

i havent rung them as they tend to fob you off a bit.
i havent had any pains following it so i doubt they will be interested. it cant be waters tho as i should have contractions no?
if the waters have gone, do u think the plug would keep them in?

compo · 24/08/2006 10:57

Sorry 1b1b - just seen your other thread. No idea either I'm afraid. Have you had any pains today - maybe it's worth phoning the midwife?

compo · 24/08/2006 10:58

whoops crossed posts!!

HellKat · 24/08/2006 11:00

Congrats Angeliz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

liquidclocks · 24/08/2006 11:43

Hi 1b1b, sorry, keep nipping off to try and (unsuccessfully) get some work done. Don't know the answer to the plu question - that's why I'd be ringing a midwife - do you have a number for your community midwifes just to ask a quick question - your actually making me appreciate my local service a bt more! Could the noise have been baby's shoulder catching agaist your hip maybe. Is LO still moving around plenty?

tassis · 24/08/2006 14:01

Afternoon girls!

puppy - I can't believe your midwife was so dismissive and unhelpful. why not do a thread on here if you have questions, there are usually some midwifes about.

compo - I think my haemo level was about 10 too

I've spent the morning cooking meals for my freezer. Nesting instinct is def kicking in... I'll be baking next (hardly done that since last mat leave!!)
