im 37+5 and measure 2 weeks bigger and have done since anomaly scan.
mw doesnt think i'll go to term as ds was 1 week early and i appear to be even larger this time. im seeing consultant on friday as when mw touches bump i'm in agony. my belly is packed solid. i cant bear her to touch it firmly enough to feel which way round he is etc.

1Baby1Bump · 22/08/2006 21:59

im a bit worried about that actually.

Marls001 · 22/08/2006 22:13

Congrats Angeliz

Wow, Pol ... Would that there were a potion to where he could feel what you feel ! These last weeks especially have been very trying. I don't know how I'd react if DH were indifferent to my discomfort on top of the discomfort itself. I think maybe I'm saved because he's run two marathons. Both were just awful for him, very painful. I saw him come in both times, and it wasn't pretty. I think after seeing me through the first labor he really empathized, remembering his leg cramps the last six miles of marathon#1 ... I don't know; who knows. But heck, I'd be v. too.

Mabel - So sorry. I hope your MIL will take control and do more than just compain. It's practically grandmother duty to watch your child for you at this time ... so don't let her make you feel the least bit guilty over that.

Manda - Dr. said when I suddenly started swelling it was b/c baby's head had dropped a bit & pressure "down there" would be causing excess swelling ... don't know what mw's will tell you though.

Went out and bought myself some Krispy Kreme donuts today ... they're the best. Had not had (or wanted) donuts for a year!! But I have just two more weeks of "eating for 1.2" at most. Why not.

Dr. today said baby has entirely filled me: "We're looking at an 8-pounder. His bottom is all the way up against your lungs, and his head is way down on top of your bladder." [best of both worlds: can't breathe; must pee]
"But he hasn't 'dropped' yet. When he does - you'll probably go into labor right then. But, I don't see it happening for another week."
Yay! (Perhaps won't have to use backup plan for DS1.)

Regardless, have done just about all we were hoping to do before baby's arrival.

Hello all sorry I have not been posting, been really wuite tired again and DS has been trying for the last couple of days, he really is ready to return to school.

oh wow angeliz looking forward to your birth announcement!

Liquid glad all went well with your meeting with the midwife

ooh mandaz cheese scones do you live near wakefield to drop me some off? lol and Marls them donuts sound lovely.

I had my midwifes appt on monday she said the babies head was 2/5ths engaged and will not get any lower till I labour, height of uterus is measuring term I am only 36 + 3. been having odd period like pains and backache since the weekend, Midwife said this sounds like the starting of labour as braxton hicks are usually just painless tightenings.
So I am now wondering if the pupplet will be here sooner than my due date, eek!

hi all

I have been having really strong shooting pains down my groin - it has left me gasping it hurts so much and very sore in my pelvis - sounds like we are all suffering with our aches and pains now. I really don't want him to come early in some respects - we still have a carpet to lay and wallpaper to go up in his nursery!
MIL came to pick up DS today for the day - no mention of what happened on saturday night - it's the 1st time I've seen her since it happened and I thought she may ask how I was. But I guess I wouldn't understand how it feels when you DS behaves like that - hopefully in 20 years time I won't be finding out..
I won't be around for a few days after today, DH has to work up at Leeds festival til monday, so I am going to stay at my mums in case anything happens. It is the 1st time in 5 years that I haven't gone with him so am slightly however as he may need to drive home at a moments notice he is not allowed to drink! Not easy somewhere like that but he says maybe he'll take some decent pictures this year

mabel1973 · 23/08/2006 11:30

meant to also say - good luck everyone while I'm not around - don't all have your babies while I'm gone!!!!!

clairemow · 23/08/2006 11:52

Morning all,

Sounds like there are lots of preparing motions going on in the bumps... Puppy, my BH are definitely not painless, whatever your midwife might say!!! But I don't think it's early labour as they only come every couple of hours or so, and then die down completely. I've read that you can be dilating slowly over the few weeks before birth (my SIL was 3 cm dilated at 36 weeks, and baby came at 39). so I reckon that's what might be happening, not that I know anything!!!

Marls, well done getting everything done and sorted out. I think we're ready here too now, apart from I want DH to move the cot to the other side of the room!

Norms, I think you should go and lie down now! Your shopping and ironing sounds far too energetic. Mind you, I just spent over 2 hours beeswaxing the bedroom furniture (not done for the last 4 years or so...) and cleaning the bathroom including wiping all skirting boards (also not done for v.v.v. long time...). I've heard about the hands and knees thing helping too - hence the skirting board frenzy!

We have friends arriving today from New Zealand until Sat (not staying with us though), so time will go quickly and not sure how often I'll get on here. At least the dilemma of what to do if baby starts to come in the night is now over - our friends are near enough to come round so we don't have to disturb DS at all (he'll just wonder what on earth is happening in the morning!).

Good luck everyone if I don't get on here. And Angeliz, thinking of you especially!

compo · 23/08/2006 12:00

Still no news from Angeliz!! Hope everything is going smoothly
I'm ious of all this movement - don't seem to be having any BH and baby definitely hasn't dropped as my ribs still ache. Would love her to come early!!
Didn't sleep much last night and dh was a bit insensitive saying that he had gone to bed at 1.30am and was woken up at 6.30am by ds getting up - problem is it's his choice to go to bed so late, it's not my choice to be a pregnant insomniac!! And despite taken the Rathinidine the acid indigestion has come back a bit Sorry to moan but it's one of those days!! Gp wants to see me Friday as iron levels are still low so am probably going on the tablets, and today I have to go to the hospital to see yet another doctor about these falling platelets!!! Fun fun fun...

tassis · 23/08/2006 12:52

keep checking in on Angeliz...will chatch up with everyone else's chat shortly...

Hesitant · 23/08/2006 12:54

Hi all

Am SO loved up it's unreal. He's adorsable. Took longer than the girls to come out, too content in there i think, but he got here at 2.50p.m. It was all straight forward and although i feel it was the most painful yet, the Midiwfe was lovely and i didn't even tear so feel great this morning.
He weighs 8.7, has a full head of black hair like his sisters and is adorable. i just can't stop smelling his head.
Will post full Birth announcement soon and get a few pics on our board.
Thanks for all your kind wishes and good luck everyone. I shall stick around till they're all out+++++++++++++

tassis · 23/08/2006 12:57

Gosh seems like everyone's nesting and having twinges.

Anyone else not due til end Sept? I'm due 21st and hoping to be pregnant for a few weeks as ds starts pre-school nursery on Tuesday and i'd like him to have a few weeks to get settled before baby arrives (how his wee world is about to change). Also, selfishly, i'm looking forward to a few weeks of having 2.5 hours to myself each day - bliss!

Got baby gym, bouncy chair, pram, changing station etc out of loft and set out yesterday. Have ordered new mattresses for pram, crib and cot and have washed nappies - very cute to have them hanging on the line.

Really need to pack my hopsital bag...

And need to decide on names.

Angeliz · 23/08/2006 13:01

That was me!!
Changed my nickname breifly yesterday for a reason but forget it!!!

compo · 23/08/2006 13:02

Congratulations Brilliant news!!!

tassis · 23/08/2006 13:08

fantastic news Angeliz, well done!!

enjoy your precious wee man

mabel1973 · 23/08/2006 13:17

well done angeliz! Congratulations XXX

liquidclocks · 23/08/2006 13:29

Well done! Congratulations Angleliz, give your little man a big huggle from us all!

Puppy,my BH's are quite painful - enough to wake me up if asleep and have to stop what I'm doing while they're happening and baby is definitely not on his way yet, still high enough to be hurting my ribs a lot and I'm only 35 weeks (will be tomorrow anyway). Have also been getting period type pain, backache, shooting pains just to help me sympathise with everyone else!

In some ways I'm of Angeliz now but in other ways I am SO not ready! What would be really nice is to take a 2 week holiday from being pregnant, then come back to it and have the baby- well, I can dream can't I?

Norms - go and lie down!!!

Manda - hope you're ok today and got your BP checked.

pol26 · 23/08/2006 14:37

Well done Angeliz!!!! I'm sure you're feeling very proud. Congratulaltions.

Been to the mw today and a totally different pair- who were lovely compared to my usual dragon. Although I waited for well over an hour they were fab! BUT i'm v. worried as measuring 43 weeks and i'm 36+2... she said she is sending me to see my consultant but he only has clinics on Monday and of course next Monday is bank holiday so not seeing him until the 4th of September and of course i'm v.worried. Although the thing is she did say that she couldn't see me making that appointment as she thought he would be early- HOOOOOOOORAY!!!! But i'm so worried that i'm measuring that big and of course i'm worried about my LO.

compo · 23/08/2006 14:41

Pol26 - sorry to hear that. Hopeflly things will start to happen quickly for you. I think it's outrageous you can't see a consultant for so long though. Could you go and see your gp and maybe get him to book you in for a growth scan to speed things up a bit?
LC - it would be lovely to have a 2 week break from all the pains, sleepless nights etc and then have the baby feeling all refreshed and ready for it!!

appyday · 23/08/2006 15:04

Been very quickly catching up,
Angeliz big hugs to you and your family and many congratulations.
Glad I'm not the only one who isn't flavour of the month with current offspring.
Am waiting on call from hospital. Had monitoring this am, and mentioned 2 dizzy spells, doc came and basically said no problem LO just lying on large blood vessels, but he wanted to do a scan as the baby has been in a different position every week. LO is transverse and if my waters go now the cord may come out 1st and LO may die! So now they want me in hospital for next 2 weeks until they can do a CS at week 39, or until LO engages for 3 days. DH and I are in shock, and I've had a few tears, just waiting to hear from consultant if I absolutely have to go, so if I don't post a while you know why.

pol26 · 23/08/2006 15:11

Appyday- I hope things go well for you, pregnancy can be nothing but worry for us mummies! Good luck for baby turning.

liquidclocks · 23/08/2006 15:13

Appyday, you must be really upset - big to you and your DH. I'm sure the hospital will look after you and LO though and everything will be fine. If we don't hear from you I expect you'll have gone in - take loads of books and mags, we'll be thinking of you. x.

Woodelf · 23/08/2006 16:32

Congrats Angeliz! Wow - everyone's really starting now...

Appyday and Pol, big hugs and hope things turn out ok.

Sorry haven't posted in a while but I had the most horrendous cold (must be the change in climate from hot to winter-like).

Met my doula Emma properly yesterday and I'm feeling so reassured she will be there with us. Our hospital is opening a new birth centre next monday and as I'm not due till 16-21 Sep everything should be in place for me to try a waterbirth if possible.

ezridax · 23/08/2006 17:35

Appleday - best wishes to you i hope that LO turns for you.

Angeliz - congrats!!!!!

compo · 23/08/2006 18:42

Appyday - fingers crossed for you. Hope your stay in hospital isn't too tedious.
Well appointment with hospital docotr this pm complete waste of time. She said platelets nothing to worry about - so why did they need to see me?!!! Drives me mad as I don't drive so dh has to take time off work to take me to hospital and look after ds in waiting room all for nothing... grrrrr.... I asked her why my gp wanted to see me on Friday re. anemia, couldn't she just prescribe me iron tablets there and then and she said no A doctor who can't prescribe.... as if... probably just too lazy to find her prescription pad Sorry to rant... lol
