How fast do we get through these threads?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mssleepyhead · 17/02/2014 11:30

Scan done, baby fine! Got to see little legs kicking and even a scary face on alien shot! Absolutely brilliant. Smitten.

New due date 23 August, which I don't 100% believe... Will update the date list when I get home.

mssleepyhead · 17/02/2014 11:39

2be - I find if I lie on my left side for a bit and then roll on to my back my womb is very there for about 5 minutes. Give that a try?

Secretlypregnant · 17/02/2014 11:55

That's great, mssleepyhead! Congratulations Smile. Were they able to give any reason for the spotting?

2beornot, lots of people are starting to have those moments - please don't worry. It's just the start of the second trimester. Five minutes on your belly - or more - is not going to damage the baby. I'm sure you'll be getting flutters soon!

Ruggle · 17/02/2014 12:01

Weird symptom alert..Since waking up I've had a very sharp pinprick type pain in my left nipple! What's that about?

Ruggle · 17/02/2014 12:08

Oh...and it's started to turn into a shooting ache. Argh! I keep having to discretely prod my boob, but I share an office with 2 men...

HungryHorace · 17/02/2014 12:13

Excellent news, mssleepyhead. :-)

What was your due date? Mine was moved forwards a week, even though I know when I conceived! Tall babies.

And yes, any spotting info?

Finnable · 17/02/2014 12:30

MsSleepy - we're due date twins now!

lucyfluff · 17/02/2014 12:44

Yay mssleepy!! great news...due date buddy here too Smile wow a lot for the 23rd!!!

mssleepyhead · 17/02/2014 12:53

Hello new due date buddies!

No reason for the spotting, and they just said only call if it starts to look like a lot. Which sounds a little subjective but ok!

Just taken the little one for its first burger to celebrate : )

Owlysims · 17/02/2014 13:33

Great news on the scans ladies ThanksThanks

Just been to midwife. Wee and BP are fine, so just been told to rest / stay hydrated.

Was told they don't listen for the heartbeat at 16 weeks anymore, so that was disappointing.

Nothing for 5 weeks now. Boo!

mssleepyhead · 17/02/2014 17:15

Get the Doppler out hungry ; )

lucyfluff · 17/02/2014 17:25

You guys are seriously making me want to buy one!!! How much are they?? Do you need to buy the gel too? (that is possibly a really thick Q) Wink

mssleepyhead · 17/02/2014 17:41

i bought the gel, lucy, but the reviews on amazon so you can use water or even olive oil. because it's so early for me i wanted the gel, and i have picked up the heartbeat every time using it. i don't know if the gel helped. this is the one i got.

flymo79 · 17/02/2014 18:09

Hello all, just back from lovely, Sunny weekend in Edinburgh, flight up was horrendous, worst I've ever experienced with the cross winds bashing us around. Urgh. But weekend was a lovely break and I arrived home to the book from hungry (thanks so much!) and great appointment with midwife who listened in for heartbeat. Lovely to hear it thumping away like a little pulsing fish! Sorry your MW didn't check yours, hungry, seems a bit mean!!!
She said she thought it was a girl as 152....

jessplussomeonenew · 17/02/2014 18:12

Just had a look and angel sounds doppler is £17 on ebay at the moment... Seriously tempted - ridiculous really as have I have my scan day after tomorrow!

weeza13 · 17/02/2014 18:23

Have got 17 week mw appointment on wednesday so really hoping to hear heart beat then. Looked at pics in a book about bump size, mine seems to match the picture for 20 weeks, bit worried it may become huge baby as I was slim pre bump.

HungryHorace · 17/02/2014 18:47

No...once a week only, mssleepyhead! It's tempting though.

But I can feel baby moving, so that's something. Told the MW hoping she would listen as I could feel it, but she said that movement was the most important thing. Spoilsport!

Glad the book arrived, Flymo. :-) Sounds like a lovely weekend, except the first flight!

It's not actually bump size but uterus height they measure. You can have a large bump but your uterus is fine. They won't check for ages yet.

mssleepyhead · 17/02/2014 21:50

About bumps.

So at the moment I look like I have the world's worst premenstual bloating. It's a definite bump, but so low that even wearing my regular underwear is uncomfortable.

This is making me curious about bumps. People who have had them before: when can I expect it to rise? And does it just happen one day? (I have heard people talk of bumps "popping out") or is it more gradual?

I'm really hoping it will start rising soon as my clothes are so uncomfortable right now...

(Sorry for the stupid questions.)

babyspice2501 · 18/02/2014 09:11

My scan went well yesterday! Really happy but was confirmed iam due 2nd sept so I think ill move onto the sept thread although I might still pop on here occasionally. Congrats to mssleepy too!

I had really bad stomach cramps last night right at the top of my tummy under my rib cage like I was going to be sick but took paracetamol and calmed it down. But that is just my luck to get something that worries me just after my scan. Going to be a nervous wreck till 20 weeks I think now! Or untill I feel baby move! :(

flymo79 · 18/02/2014 09:15

re bumps, when the midwife felt mine she was feeling much lower than I usually feel, and I was surprised at how small she said it was. I feel huge and am having to wear only stretchy things now. I guess everything else is moving up and making me feel so bloated.

weeza13 · 18/02/2014 09:39

Re bumps, mine gets bigger throught the day esp if I am on my feet a lot, sometimes It looks as if I am just putting on weight and other times definately pregnant. Can't wait until it looks unmistakably like baby bump, people keep looking at my belly but are unsure whether to ask yet. Can only wear stretchy clothes too, I live in my joggers when I get home.

jessplussomeonenew · 18/02/2014 11:05

This time tomorrow I'll have had my scan - right now am really scared; dreading MMC or abnormalities. It seems such a long time to wait and I don't know how I'm going to sleep tonight! It doesn't help that it took more than 2 years ttc. Am being my own worst enemy and reading too much about the more difficult outcomes.... must stop! Hand-holding and encouragement would be very welcome!

Secretlypregnant · 18/02/2014 11:28

Congratulations, babyspice2501! Really pleased for you - and I hope you're feeling better today.

jessplussomeonenew, the bad outcomes are really, really rare. Step away from Google! It's natural to feel worried but try to be kind to yourself and do some nice things to help yourself along. (For some reason doughnuts have popped into my mind - largely because I really want a jam one I suspect!)

Less than 24 hours to go. Are you working today? If not, can you do something that will distract your mind a bit? I know it feels like forever, those last 24 hours, but it will come really soon and it'll all be fine, I'm sure. Smile
