sleepy my belly button has gone outie already. Much to DH's amusement. Anyone got a linea negra yet? I can't remember when I got it last time but no sign yet.

Lol bumblebee do you have a preference or just very intrigued?

Redcliff · 20/01/2014 08:37

Bumble. You almost made me lol on the train . I know what you mean as mine is in two weeks and it feels a long time to wait .

Off to look at prams today after work - all feels such a minefield. I got it so wrong last time so want to give it some real thought and research this time round,

Riblet · 20/01/2014 08:53

Glad to hear you're finally starting to feel better Bee Smile. Also good that your DH is trying to find a solution Liquid - don't blame you for your reaction though. My DH had the option of going to a conference in the States for a week in May but luckily it isn't essential and (surprisingly- ha!) he knew without asking me that it'd be out of the question. He did however say "at least I can go next year"- erm, we will discuss that when the time comes! He went last year and his colleague, who at that time had a DD of only a couple of months old if that, went too, which surprised me, but then the colleague's wife who is also an academic had a conference in the same place a few weeks later and he went out too to look after the baby, so I suppose they had some kind of deal going.

Sympathies to those who are feeling knackered and useless - I have generally been lucky and felt ok but sometimes the fatigue does kick in, and I hate doing nothing (especially as there is SO much to do to get the house ready) so feel really guilty. Am slowly learning that if I need to rest then I need to, so try and do stuff in the mornings if possible when I have more energy (I'm an early bird) and try not to feel bad about crashing in the evenings. As I say though, if you need the rest then you need it - it's a hard job growing a new person!

Vickyvix · 20/01/2014 10:35

Good luck hannah :)

Trying to catch up on mobile so apologies if I have missed anyone else. Very jealous of those feeling proper kicks . I think I have a few fluttering a but nothing much, really want to feel something properly now.

Stacks · 20/01/2014 10:49

I keep popping in then disappearing for ages. Having trouble with my DS (1yo) not sleeping well, so not had much time for mn. I hope he gets back to sleeping soon, I'm exhausted :(

Got my scan date for 20w scan - 7th Feb. Not too long to wait I guess, though it feels like ages. Can't wait to find out the gender, but I know DH won't agree to a private scan, so I'm going to have to keep patient.

Need to get in touch with my midwife today, been in agony over the weekend :( I had an operation back in 2009 which involved cutting through my stomach muscles on the right hand side. The operation site is suddenly agony, I can't cough, bend down, pick up DS or walk without pain. Not really sure if it's a midwife, dr or consultant issue though. Midwife is easier to get in touch with though, so we'll see what she says.

Hope everyone is well, going Togo back and catch up on the thread a hit now.

Bumblebeesmum · 20/01/2014 11:00

Stacks it sounds like a GP visit where you will then prob be referred to consultant also but midwife will hopefully put you in right direction. Sounds awful though hope they can help.

Liquid I don't remember how old your children are? Is there any option for going away with him for a few days in the middle? I'm an auditor & when I was at EY travelled a ridiculous amount & sometimes my husband would come along for the free hotel (but never with a baby!)

Marlena I have a little boy so we have a house full of boys things & tbh it's getting ridiculous how much of the house he takes up. It would be great to know if we can get rid or if we're sorted for number two!

I do want a boy but I was surrounded by people having girls when I had my 1st & wanted a girl so I'm fairly certain given the number of boys on here - this ones prob a girl haha - but although I wanted a girl first time round I wasn't in slightest bit disappointed when I found out it was a boy so I know I would be very happy either way

Mitchell2 · 20/01/2014 12:54

Hi Stacks - I had something similar. I have had 5 abdominal surgeries over the years (key hole and non key hole), all on my right side. Before Xmas I was in A&E due to the pain and the fact I literally couldn't move.

I wasn't in for long (a few hours) they said the baby was ok, gave me paracetamol as that is all they could give me and sent me on my way saying I should speak to my GP. The consensus for myself at least is that its just the internal scars getting shoved about with the uterus expanding. There is little that they can do for that and I was given a 'tough luck' spiel! I guess it is - my only concern is that I am not very big yet so the worst probably is to come!

Biffle · 20/01/2014 13:10

Think I managed to catch up with everyone!! Such a busy thread Smile

DD1 had a swimming competition all Saturday afternoon and then a (joint) birthday disco for 80 kids Saturday night so I was in agony by the time I got the girls to bed at 10pm! Think it has all caught up with me as I am shattered today and keep drifting off to another planet while I am at work Shock ... still just counted and thanks to school holidays and the impending reduction in my hours I only have 64 days left at work!!

My 20w scan isn't until 7th Feb and I can't wait to find out whether this one is daughter #3 or boy #1. Briefly considered doing a bumble and booking a private one but there are no appointments available at the cheaper place any sooner and can't justify the £130 First View charge, especially as we have a 4D one booked in April for the girls to come along to see their brother/sister.

Have mw on Thursday and she has said she will do the heartbeat for me so can get excited about that instead

Redcliff · 20/01/2014 14:08

Stacks - that sound horrible. Hope you get it sorted.

I have a GGT (think that's right?) which I have to fast for - boo hiss! I need my cornflakes but will just have to take something with me for after. Have to be there really early as well
:(

SleepyNess · 20/01/2014 14:32

Mondays are killers! So hard to stay awake at work... Zzzz..

BEEwitched · 20/01/2014 14:54

I have my GTT on the 3rd of March, but I only need to fast from midnight and was actually told to eat something at around 9/10 pm the evening before so I'm not starving.

Fingers crossed it goes well, Redcliff, and do take a decent snack with you for afterwards! Apart from some shrivelled apples the shops in my hospital only have sweets and crisps...

SarahAnderson · 20/01/2014 15:07

Had my 16 week midwife appointment today. Two weeks late as we were on holiday until then. What a joy to hear that heartbeat! Sounded like he/she was about to explode, though, poor wee thing. At least that’ll tide me over until the 20 week scan.I find I need some sort of external reassurance that the baby still exists about every 3-4 weeks otherwise I start worrying.

Can’t wait for the kicks to properly start. I cannot decide whether I’m feeling something or just gas. Every time I feel like it DEFINITELY is the baby, 30 seconds later I fart.

Jessiebaba · 20/01/2014 15:36

Sarah I had my 16 week check up today as well (1 week late). I didn't get to hear the heart beat though as it's their policy to not check for it before 20 weeks Sad Glad your appointment went well though

I'm exactly the same and feel I need reassurance every few weeks. We've got a gender scan booked for 1st Feb so can't wait for that now!

mylittlel · 20/01/2014 15:42

Sarah aa, thats funny, i think im the same, dont really know if its gas or baby, but think felt baby few times..now started having back pain(

HannahC1989 · 20/01/2014 16:24

Just got bk from scan.... what an emosh time....
We are over the moon that everything is looking very healthy and baby cooperated and measured everything with no trouble!
They also spread their legs to reveal we have got a little BOY on the way... we have a 4 year old girl so we couldnt be happier!!!

Bezzabelle · 20/01/2014 16:30

Congrats Hannah!!

Sussex31 · 20/01/2014 17:25

Congrats Hannah :)

Jessiebaba · 20/01/2014 18:05

Congrats Hannah! Grin

Redcliff · 20/01/2014 18:13

That's great news Hannah - congrats from me as well.

I just had an odd experience - I went to mothercare to check out prams and get some maternity tights and I saw a really cute baby grow. I picked it up but couldn't bring myself to buy it. It all feels to early - I'm crazy aren't I? I think I am like those that want that reassure every few weeks and my last scan feels ages ago. I have been feeling movement ( not quite kicks but some wiggling ) but after 5 years of trying it still feels a bit surreal. Am I crazy?

SarahAnderson · 20/01/2014 18:19

Redcliff I'm the same - not buying any baby stuff at all. Felt weird when my sisters gave me a bunch of their hand-me-downs. My best friend from high school lost her baby at 5 months and I can't stop thinking about it.

Not sure when it's going to feel right to buy baby stuff. Possibly not until after the birth.

Vickyvix · 20/01/2014 18:33

Great news hannah and lovely news from those who also had their 16 week appointments too.

stacks hope you get a referral and all sorts itself out pain wise soon

Stacks · 20/01/2014 18:55

Mitchell - that's reassuring in a way, at least it's possible this isn't something serious. My mind is straying to hernias and tears in the muscle and all sorts. At the same time though, I doubt they could do anything about anything till after baby, so I'm worrying about what's to come too.

Congrats on the good scan and the little boy Hannah.

When I was pg with DS we didn't buy anything till I was 30w or more. I was in a sort of protective denial right up until he was born, just seemed too good to be true that we were finally going to get our long awaited baby!

Bezzabelle · 20/01/2014 21:20

With ds, I didn't buy anything until right near the end. Mum and mil brought loads but I wouldn't have it in my house- I know it wouldn't have made any difference, just couldn't do it.

On a totally shallow note, I've hit a stone and a half in weight gain!! At 21 weeks- blooming Nora!! My uterus feels like its already pushing my ribs up and feel a bit uncomfortable after I've eaten. Worst thing is its not just baby, it's total over eating and I need to reign it in as feel a bit out of control. I know how I look isn't important but it's more that I'm worried about already being uncomfortable now when I've got weeks left to go....

Redcliff · 20/01/2014 22:15

So glad I am not crazy (well not about this any way) I spoke to my mum today and she's keen to get something (sling perhaps ) but I have asked to wait. . Thanks for sharing your stories - I feel so much better

superlambanana · 20/01/2014 23:37

Weird pregnancy symptom #793: I have noticed I no longer really have to shave my legs.

Well, there have to be some perks I suppose!!
